5 Stars. I really enjoyed the "normalcy" of this book. Meaning it had a lot of "normal" words and realistic actions and still included science and data. Anyone could read it. Maybe because he's NOT a doctor or scientist. But don't let that fool you - his information is from studies and doctors. *Some studies don't seem to have enough people for it to be valid so pay attention = nothing is ever perfect. It's a great compilation of a LOT of other books within this one book. I appreciated his honesty ("I'm not a doctor") and his focus on things to discuss WITH your doctor... or reasons to find a new one! This has made me think even more about what I put into my body (I'd already given up added sugar, but seed oil info?!?!), the activities I make sure I continue (pickleball for exercise AND brain work), and the proactive questions I have about my health and upcoming possible health tests (blood work, glucose tests, heart tests, etc). Overall, check this one out.
Well researched and referenced from large studies at prestigious institutions, while still being an easy read in layman’s terms. Most of the concepts concerning the roots causes of disease ring true (to this engineer and scientist, at least)! We know that eating a lot of sugar and refined carbs is bad for us but this books clearly and convincingly explains exactly what happens to us when we do.
Some of the book’s other conclusions about diet are a little hard to swallow… because they fly in the face of current mainstream medical wisdom. For instance, I want to hear more debate from more experts on whether or not eating lots of red meat and animal fat is really going to help us avoid metabolic diseases including diabetes and heart disease.
This was an easy-to-understand book regarding health, written by a heart attack survivor. This way of eating works for my body and has helped me tremendously over the past year. Even if the keto/carnivore way of eating doesn’t work for you, eliminating The Unholy Trinity is certainly worth looking into for your health (mental and physical). The list of needed tests and ways to monitor my health was very helpful to me. This was a library loan, but I will purchase a copy for my bookshelf.

Saw David's interview on Dr. Ken D Barry's YouTube channel and got the ebook because I didn't want to wait the 2 weeks it would take to get it via USPS ( it takes a while to get stuff up here in Alaska). It's so packed full of info I had to have a notebook and pen close by. I learned that I wasn't as low-carb as I thought I was. Just looking at the added sugar number isn't even close to doing it 😕. Pulled up some past blood work to discover my TG/HDL ratio was not ideal, crap. I'm going to get some actual fasting blood work done soon and start my journey to better health.
Audible. Appreciated all the studies cited and discussed. More of my studying seed oil impact on diet and this book brought new insights to the table on more health topics.
Will have to read/reference again as it is packed with info.
Among things I will continue to look into: - fasted exercise vs fed exercise - stressed tests/angio/stents vs diet changes: long terms comparison - fasting - study of coffee consumption and Alzheimer’s/Parkinson’s (good to drink 3 cups daily) - cholesterol and brain health - salt is not the evil that it was portrayed

Maybe his nutritional advice is better than some but he is still just another health grifter. The USDA hasn't taught the food pyramid since 2005 and the American Dietetic Association recommends no more than 25 grams of added sugar a day. Also there is no such thing as a certified dietician in America. Just another money making scheme by someone that half remembers his 4th grade health class for the gullible wanting to believe that they are unhealthy due to a conspiracy not their own choices.
Daniel dived into a huge amount of information about health case studies digging out the true facts about what works and what doesn't work in feeding and healing correctly a human body, that is everyone of us. I feel so well oriented now. And he makes it interesting. Quite like saving.
I am a type 1 diabetic with a type 1 diabetic son. I was given this book by my boss for Christmas and have applied every aspect of it to my life for all of 2025. My CGM has stayed 95% in range or better. And I’ve lost a few pounds! Thank you for this wealth of knowledge.
90% of us have some level of insulin resistance. The major reason for heart disease. Fix the root cause and don’t let your PCP look at your lipid panel and demand it that you start taking statins.
