okay, I never do reviews so bear with me on this. I wanna start off by saying that I love how thorough and detailed everything was. I love that the story has a map, I enjoyed going back and forth every time a place was mentioned. I also loved that the author gives us a little overview on the Imperium. WHICH btw the hair color?!! That was so unique I loved it! Okay now unto the story, I loved Kiki, I think she's such a well rounded character. The story begins with her being a bad ass assassin (which I enjoyed) and then a few pages in we see how she turned into an assassin which I think it's great. Personally, I'm not a big fan of flashbacks in general, I tend to like learning the characters past little by little (And I know it only took a few chapters - it's just my preference) but it didn't make me like the book any less! It helped me know why the story was called Sweet revenge. I mean c'mon, if what happened to her family happened to my family before my eyes, I would also spend nine years trying to get revenge lol AND I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but I LOOOOOOVED Zavier. I love that they became roommates, and honestly it was such a joy to see the banter between them. LISTEN I knew the ending was coming. I knew something was gonna go wrong but I was still left with my mouth agape. I really like her method of revenge, obviously it would've been great if Kiki didn't hurt herself in the process, but she worked hard for her revenge so I'm fine with it, even if Zavier holding her broke my heart. Overall, I really liked the book. I couldn't even tell this was the author debut book! it was so well written, and it had all the fantasy and romance as promised.
Amazingly creative world-building and premise, with all your favorite tropes. This book both made me laugh at the main character's sense of humor and want to tear my hair out at the slow-burn rivals-to-lovers romance (don't even get me started with the ending). All the female characters are so loveable and empowering, I wish I could be friends with them in real life. I highly recommend this read for those looking for scifi femme fatale stories with a captivating plot and tasteful romance side plot. And I am so dying for the rest of the series.
I loved how the characters interacted with each other and my jaw dropped when there were plot twists that I didn't see coming. I'm so excited to read more of Kikis adventures
