The Consequences of Love and Vengeance
She wears the badge. He wears every sin she's sworn to punish.
It started with a routine interview. I walked out as a foster mom to a precious baby boy—and with direct orders from my boss to bury Drago Acerbi so deep he’d never see daylight again.
As a detective for LAPD, I believed I couldn’t be touched by the corruption around me.
Drago is danger wrapped in a tailored suit—ruthless charm, piercing eyes that strip away every wall I’ve built, and a fiercely protective heart that makes me question everything I stand for. Our connection is electric, forbidden, and impossible to deny. In stolen nights and hidden moments, I broke every rule I swore to uphold. He became my secret... my weakness... and the only man who’s ever truly seen me.
But Drago doesn’t know the truth I’m guarding with my life: the innocent baby I’ve grown to love with every beat of my heart—the child who’s completely turned my world upside down—is his son.
When our forbidden relationship explodes into the open, I lose everything: my career, the man I was never supposed to love, and the baby who healed parts of me I didn’t know were broken. In the devastating aftermath, shocking secrets come to light. Drago isn’t the monster they claimed he was. And I’m not the only one hiding deadly truths.
Now, with the baby kidnapped and caught in the deadly crosshairs of a ruthless war, there’s only one man who can save him—the man I was ordered to destroy for life. The fiercely protective father whose touch still lingers on my skin. The only person I trust to burn the world down for our child.
A heart-wrenching standalone romantic suspense packed with forbidden cop-criminal tension, secret baby stakes that will rip your heart out, morally gray protective hero vibes, corrupt systems versus unbreakable found-family loyalty, and a jaw-dropping twist you won’t see coming. HEA guaranteed—no cliffhangers.
Perfect for fans of:
Kennedy Ryan’s emotional depth and protective heroes
Rebecca Yarros’ high-stakes tension and heartfelt romance
Catherine Cowles' romantic suspense with protective heroes who will burn the world down for the woman and child they love.
Tropes you’ll devour:
Forbidden cop × criminal romance
Secret baby (foster-to-forever emotional bonds)
Morally gray, fiercely protective single dad energy
Corrupt police vs. ride-or-die loyalty
Kidnapping danger, explosive twists, and soul-deep redemption
This is a story of impossible love, devastating choices, sacrificial motherhood, and the kind of fierce protection that can heal even the deepest wounds. If you crave romance that pulls hard at your heartstrings, keeps you breathless with suspense, and leaves you believing in second chances and unbreakable family, The Consequences of Love and Vengeance is your next addiction.
This is the collection edition of Dirty Blue, Dirty War, and Dirty Sin. This version can be read as a complete standalone romance. If you have read all three of those books, then you've read this story. This version was revised and improved along with new audio and narrators.

This follows Brianna who has been assigned a case to follow Drago Acerbi as he might be involved in smuggling drugs in the city. But as she starts uncovering the evidence, forbidden territory will be crossed and secrets will come into play.
I enjoyed this story. There was always something going on in the plot then add two people exploring forbidden waters. I love how strong Brianna is in her role, especially with some of the men she works around being a detective. Love the Gabriel storyline and Drago is mysterious and delicious. The spice was great also. N. E. Henderson keeps you engaged with this story.
Lastly the Audiobook was a great listen. Desireé did this solo up until I will say the 70% mark then Troy was a cameo doing Drago’s chapters until the end. Enjoyed listening along while reading on my Kindle.

My goodness. Where do I even begin. This book felt like the most mouth wateringly delicious, Spicy full course meal that was just so juicy and meaty that I certainly couldn't have enough of it.
This book has it all- Wicked Drama, High Voltage action, Explosive and shocking secret reveals, unpredected deliciously wild twists and a passion that burns hotter than any fire.🥵🔥
I had a freaking blast reading this Wild rollercoaster ride.💋💋
Brianna Andrews works in the LAPD, and even though she might come from a wealthy background, yet she certainly doesn't believe in flaunting it but is independent and self assured.
Her simple life of work and no life is tossed in the air when it all starts with a simple interview that she was supposed to take and be done with.
But that interview lands her as a temporary Foster mom and she melted and won my heart for how she not only takes care of little Gabriel aka Gabe but also when things start escalating unknowingly and spinning out of control, fights for him too.
Brianna somehow fights herself at the epicentre of all drama and action when she is handed a case to be undercover investigating, Drago Acerbi, the son of the notorious crime lord, Vincent Acerbi.
The Acerbi name has been infamous everywhere but now Brianna has to find proof that Drago is just as dirty as his dad.
But it all goes in a tailspin when Brianna goes and falls in love with the Enemy himself, Drago Acerbi.
MY GOODNESS DID THIS BOOK HAVE MY HEAD SPINNING....I MEAN THE FREAKING "N" NUMBER OF TWISTS...OH MY...SO GOOD AND SO SHOCKING.😲😲
Some of the deep secrets and twists that were revealed out of left field were so shocking that I gasped and yelled loudly after finding certain things.
The crazy Graph this story takes had me barely hanging onto the edge of my seat. I suppose these were my expressions most of the time while reading this book: 😍😲🥵😉🥹🥹😳😱😱😱😱😎😍
I felt so many emotions and I really connected to Bri and Drago. Little Gabe also absolutely won me over.
But all the other characters, DEA agent Eric, then IA, Justin Summers who has something going on with Drago's sister, Caprice, Luca, Drago's brother and some of their respective little ones, ahhhh... I felt like I was part of their family too.
Loved loved this one.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

This novel beckons with the promise of forbidden love, only to plunge readers into a whirlwind of scandal and suspense. The allure between the main characters is palpable, leading to decisions and entanglements that push the boundaries of morality and duty.
The narrative is layered with surprises, from kidnappings to jaw-dropping twists that keep you on your toes. There's a protective aura around one character that adds depth and intrigue to the story, and revelations around unexpected familial ties only heighten the drama.
N. E. Henderson's familiar touch is evident, but this revised version offers a fresh perspective, further enriched by the new audio and narration. For those seeking a gripping tale filled with passion, secrets, and unforeseeable turns, this book delivers in spades. It's a poignant exploration of the complexities of the human heart, love, and sacrifice.

✨ARC REVIEW✨
"I'm yours. I was yours from the first day we met. I'll be yours until the day I take my last breath."
Oh. My. GAWD. Let me just take a moment to appreciate this masterpiece of a book. Because WOW, this book really rocked my world. Drago and Brianna's story was so intense. And though this is my very first book by the author, I may just go back for seconds.
There were plenty of surprises, from kidnappings to twists that give you whiplash. Throw in forbidden romance in the mix, and you have perfection at its finest. Although my love for mafia had me a lil sad coz, you know, but every book is different.
This was a long book (considering it is the revised version of a trilogy), but it hooks you in from the start. And with a character like Drogo that has you thirsting over him? There's no way you can put this down.

Wow
First is a word of warning to check your triggers, there are parts which may be sensitive to others. Though if you've seen this book it's probably your type of book anyway.
This book will take you on a ride, not just a gentle one either. One that will shake you around! It'll bring you to tears (well it did me!), then make you laugh to just end with tears again.
A really good read, NE Henderson really has a way with words which suck me in.
I'm already feeling a little bit of a book hangover.

Detective Brianna Andrews loves her job and has never broken protocol. That is, until she meets the tall, dark and handsome Drago Acerbi. The Consequences of Love and Vengeance is a forbidden romance full of action, danger, suspense, intrigue, twists and steam that kept the pages turning!

Had this on my TBR for awhile after I read Have Mercy, which absolutely crushed me!!! This book was amazing. The world building, the characters, the story, the plot, the twists and turns, always having a new reveal, the hotness that is Drago!!! A must read. Keeps you guessing til the end.

Book was hella long, I got to chapter 49 and stopped reading! The story wasn't adding up and complicated issues were glossed over/ solved with the in the most unbelievable ways.

DNF at 44%. This is a bit redundant. Story isn't fast enough.

DNF for now may revisit (probably not)

Keeps you engaged
Definitely a book I will remember the storyline to a year from now. Will not give spoilers but has its twists and turns and keeps you guessing at times.

The Consequences of Love and Vengeance is a great morally grey rom com to pull you out of those dark romances. I loved this book because it wasn’t your typical romance. There were plenty of twists and turns throughout the book. Even though some of this book I had predicted to happen, I still loved it and enjoyed it immensely.
