This book is for you if… you are a living creature with the ability to consume books in any form. You have to get to know Gunther. (But not too much because I called shotgun on this soft boy.)

Overall.
I'm SO happy. I love this series. I started reading the first book, The Fractured Empire, not expecting it to blow me away the way it did. It's fantastic. Reading this series is effortless the minute you've settled into the story. That's really all I can ask for in a book. The Forgotten World brought me just as much joy as The Tempest Sea.

Don't get me wrong, Gunther turning his back on me was tough, but I love him so that means I need to let him go. Although he really doesn't know what he's missing out on.

Don't even get me started on his love interested. She's the worst, I hate her...

...Yeah, that's a total lie. She's adorable and I love her and she's perfect for Gunther. Is it okay that I'm still ugly crying?

Someone, please send help, I AM NOT OKAY, Y'ALL.

Anyhooo. The plot was interesting and Robin did an excellent job unravelling it on 250 pages. I was a bit worried at first because 250 pages did look like too little. (I mean, I would read 600 pages if she wrote it, sooooo.) Robin stuck to the important parts of the story while managing to keep the plot sweet and nail-biting and that's what I admire her for. There are so many books out there that artificially lengthen a book for the sole sake of adding pages, but this is not the case here. I still like The Fractured Empire best out of all the three, but The Forgotten World too provides its readers with many fabulous things, such as:

Levilians keep oversized dogs for pets and this is the lifestyle I aspire to lead. Is there a moving company that delivers to Levilia as well? Please tell me if you find out. I mean, come on: oversized dogs!! Big puppers everywhere, imagine the joy!!!
We also learn a lot more about Gunther and his past. My heart is bleeding for this man. He's irreplaceable. There will never be another Gunther.

The only thing I really missed, were some more witty lines. There were so many good ones in book one, less in book two and only a few in this one. It's true the book's plot doesn't really allow for it but a woman can hope, right? I'd also love a couple more sentences here and there to feed my imagination of buildings, places, people and the like.

What’s happening.
“Tell me, will it be even more difficult for you to play the dutiful wife, knowing that’s what we have in store?” “I don’t know,” she spat back. “I suppose if you wish to know how I play wife, you’ll have to ask my real husband.”

Separated from Clark and the new family she made over the course of the last book, Addie is once again a prisoner. At the mercy of a sociopathic king, she has to tiptoe between keeping her soul in tact and not angering the cruel man who killed his own sister, the queen, and everybody close to her to get on the throne.
Con:
sociopaths are unpredictable
has to witness innocent people getting butchered
Gunther has a love interest [mayor scowl]
Pro:
underestimated in her badass-ness
husband always has her back
Gunther.

As I got closer and closer to the end, I knew it exactly what I wanted to say about The Forgotten World. I had planned to gush how incredible the writing was and how much of an emotional roller coaster this was, only to get to the end and cry (again as I definitely cried in the beginning too).

Suddenly, I was speechless and just kept wiping tears from my face because I started to believe before this point that maybe things REALLY were going to end as dismal as it appeared previously.

I was so very wrong and it was a huge part of why I cried.

Thank you, author, for this moving story! I can say that this story gutted me and spitted me out more than once. Just when things seemed to get better, BAM! Doom and despair all over again for these characters that I love so much.

The grief in this story was extremely real and just reached out the page and grabbed me in its clutches. My heart broke for choices made in the past and the choices being made at that moment (ha, and the choices made in the future too if I'm honest). These characters certainly don't do things the easy way, but they are courageous, stubborn, and passionate. (However, I'm honestly about to kidnap them from the author, wrap them in bubble wrap, and hide them somewhere safe!! Never mind any complaints they throw my way. Their safety is of the upmost importance! LOL!)

Thankfully, the author was kind and threw in some humorous spots and a SUPER ADORABLE blooming romance!!! (If only I could talk about that because, GAH! FEELSSSSS!!) It definitely helped me cope with the intensity of this story.

Overall, a very fantastic continuation of the series! The writing is so on point and pulls you in so deeply. I'm looking forward to an upcoming happy ending and just hugging these guys with fierceness when they can finally be happy just to be happy. <3

Update: Interestingly, I just spent 2 more days staying up too late reading the updated version of this book. And I still desperately need the next one. Clark felt like he got swoonier.

I will be going on my second day of short sleep tomorrow and I don't care. I loved one of the new characters in this book so much. She was like a fantasy female Sheldon Cooper and she was awesome.
Plus Clark and Addie alternately made me want to smack them (Clark) or swoon (Clark).
Highly recommended, when's the next one?

The third book in the series, and I'm already feeling sad because there's only one book left!

I love the worldbuilding and the characters. It's action packed, as well as swoony - you really get all the feels!

“Grief, it turned out, was a disease unto itself, one that destroyed a person from the inside out.”

These books just continue to be so great. After the whopper of a cliffhanger from the last story, this one ramps the stakes up even higher as unforeseen circumstances separate the characters from each other and they have to battle against a new, sinister enemy while their bravery, loyalties and hearts are put to the test.

Clark and Addie continue to grow so much in each new story. When this book started out it seemed like things weren’t going to go so well for them. Because of what happened in the previous book Clark has shut Addie away from him and become the way he was at the beginning of book one, closed off from letting anyone get close. Ironically Addie showed that she had matured the most, letting Clark be alone and have the time and space he needed. Of course she understood uniquely what he was going through since she had been through the same with her sister and mother. But as they’re pulled apart from a terrible storm and the battle they end up facing with the king, they begin to realize just what the other truly meant to them. Their individual journeys were so important in this narrative. Clark coming to see that he didn’t want to be without Addie and Addie realizing the same even when she was presented with the choice to give everything up. Their decision at the end was so sweet, my heart just melted.

We’re introduced to an even more powerful and wicked enemy than the Court of Yomi in this book, the Levelian King. He’s never even given a name, which adds to his sense of foreboding and menace. His interactions with Addie were equal parts disturbing and enthralling as he’s able to push her towards unlocking the power she might’ve taken much longer to work towards had it not been for the imminent threat he posed to everyone around him. His intelligence was obvious in how he continually was able to maneuver things in his favor and always seemed to have the upper hand. To see what’s become of Levelia in his wake is chilling, the way his thirst for power has led him to abuse anyone indiscriminately, his daughter BeLa being the only one barely spared from his cruelty.

Her perspective was one of the new narratives that took over the chapters in-between Clark and Addie’s POVs. Since we had only gotten glimpses at who BeLa was before, having a more direct focus on her this time around helped to make sense of everything going on in the palace. Her personality was so endearing, being equal parts intelligent but such a dork. And I couldn’t get enough of her and Gunther together. That was such an unexpected part of this book but I loved it. Finally getting his story as the other in-between chapter narrative was perfect. While it was heartbreaking getting to see more of the cruelty he suffered, it was also sweet to learn of his relationship with his mother and to see how, even through his traumas, Gunther’s heart stayed undeniably soft and kind. He and BeLa were so wonderfully suited to each other with their intellectual curiosity and gentle natures, they’re a nice opposing couple for Clark and Addie’s fiery relationship.

I was also glad to see the redemption that General Noble experienced in this book. After the events of the last one it was surprising but it worked amazingly well. Between the way he was with Gunther and how he treated Addie I couldn’t help but admire him. And I felt sorry for him after what we find out was done to him through Clark’s revelation. That being said though, finally knowing the truth behind the explosion propels so much of the story forward. While we’ve been getting hints and little bits of further information about Spectrum, the pieces haven’t completely fit together until this book. Even then there’s still more revelations that add to the gravity of the characters situation and what they have left to face.

Overall another amazing addition to this series! Each one brings a new layer to the plot and depth to these already well-developed characters. This one brought the suspense from a new adversary and the thrill of being able to fill in some of the missing pieces the characters have been trying to put together since book one. I’m in that horrible place now where I’m all caught up but the next one doesn’t even have a release date. Guess I have no choice but to be patient…or keep re-reading Clark & Addie’s scenes until then. Yeah, the second option sounds a little better.

Book 3 of the World Apart series, I liked it as much as I liked the previous ones. A little more action here than in book 2. You really see the characters struggle, some of them are really broken by the events of the previous books, but slowly, very slowly, they start to crawl out of the deep pit they have fallen in. At the same time they show you how strong they can be as well. Sometimes I was a little frustrated by some broken characters not letting the people they are close with help them, but luckily in the end, everything falls into place. I liked the analyst and idealist chapters as well, you gain so much insights from them, without the main story slowing down because these chapters are really short. Next read: the Ever Falls.

I don't know how this series keeps getting better, but it does. This third book is just... so much happens I don't even know where to begin. We've now traveled from Central Island, through the Tempest Seas, and are now on the mystical, floating island Levelia. The characters have grown tremendously. It started off being all about Addie and Clark, but the series has evolved to the point where I am so invested in all the side characters that I am terrified for the finale. I love that the sequels have included their points of view. That was a really smart move on the authors part as it rounds out the story so well. This series has kind of taken over my life...

I love it when I am totally invested in a relationship in a story. Feeling all the joy and anxiety that comes from their trials and glories. It takes a very talented author to elicit these emotions, and Ms. Dahle is one such. This series is consistently good and well worth the read.

I know I’m in the minority here, but I didn’t really enjoy this installment of the World Apart Series.

I dove right into book 1, The Fractured Empire, on the same day I finished The Lochlann Treaty by the same authors (which I loved), and thought this was an interesting start to another great series. I feel like while both are catering to young adults, the Lochlann Treaty is the best example of character growth, with the central protagonist, going from an extremely naïve, sheltered, at times, even annoying girl, to an amazing, bad ass heroine. In contrast, I thought Clarke and Addie were much older initially, because they appear more worldly and exposed, having suffered the losses of their parent(s) early, and being on their own, to some extent. I really enjoyed their meeting, subsequent adventure and growing attraction in book 1.

Contrary to my expectations, I enjoyed book 2 less, and found book 3, barely tolerable, for a number of reasons:-

Firstly, I like my bad guys a little more nuanced. Our villain here is a total psycho, and the pain and suffering in this book just felt interminable.

Next, it’s the relationship between Addie and Clarke, and between Clarke and his brothers, that got me invested in the story initially. I have to say kudos to the authors for detailing some pretty grim abuses throughout the series, and showing the difficulties of Addie and Clarke in dealing with these issues and their grief, and what it means to love, when things get difficult. However, I also feel that Addie and Clarke’s relationship doesn’t advance much in book 2, because of their immaturity and poor/miscommunication, which I found both really disappointing and annoying. As they became physically and emotionally separated for parts of book 2 and much of book 3, it made the series much less enjoyable for me.

The writing style used features alternating chapters between Addie’s and Clarke’s point of view. In books 2 and 3, there is an additional excerpt of sorts ahead of each chapter, alternating between the points of view of two supporting characters - in book 2, Xavier and PeNelope, and in Book 3, Gunther and BeLa. I love Gunther muchly (yes, muchly), and always want to see more of him. However, I found this style a bit disruptive, and the story felt somewhat disjointed as a result. Furthermore, these excerpts were mostly unwarranted. In Xavier’s case, it feels repetitious and dull, and we get very little insight into BeLa and Gunther, this way, and I can’t help feeling we would have been better served by having their pieces incorporated into the main storyline.

The only place we really learn a lot is when Nell’s point of view is shown, and frankly, I didn’t really care, and found myself skimming her bits to get back to the characters I actually enjoyed and liked. In book 1, we don’t know anything about Nell, her motivations, or her agenda, and she is exceptionally mysterious and tight-lipped and somewhat ambiguous as a character, good or bad, we didn’t know. The excerpts are meant to take us into her world, and help us to understand her. But I find this more of a hindrance to book 3. When we finally get to her world in this book, I felt that there was no sense of mystery, because we already heard all about it.

General Noble features prominently in this installment. Like Nell, we previously were unsure of his trustworthiness. However here, the decision has been made that we are supposed to like and root for him. I could not get behind this at all! I am not sure whether he is just a terrible parent, or a terribly written character. We are meant to interpret him as a good man who has done cruel things for the right reasons, but really, his actions are unfathomable, and perhaps unforgiveable. He pretends to be dead because his life is in danger, ok fine. That makes sense, but none of his choices or actions beyond that are congruent with this version of him we’re supposed to buy into. Why not tell his sons the truth to spare them from grieving the loss of yet another father figure? Why put the enormous burden on a sixteen year old Xavier to stop his impetuous and ungovernable barely younger brother from trying to find answers? And why put his sons in the position where they have to have to kill or be killed because of him, or by him? I can forgive the others for making dumb decisions, because they are in fact barely adults. Its much harder to sympathize when the perpetrator is a supposed top military mind and strategist.

Nonetheless, I’m going to read book 4 in the series as soon as it comes out. I'm still looking forward to seeing the mystery unravel and hope to return to Addie's home world and father. I just really hope that he isn't also portrayed as another good guy, misunderstood. Its okay to have people fall at various points on the spectrum between pure goodness and light, and total evil.

This book was everything I wanted. Everything.

Robin D. Mahle’s The Forgotten World is something different from the previous two books in this series. Mahle is on a quest to build out her world and the backstories of more characters, and while at times some of the background can be redundant, the ultimate result is a fascinating, thrilling and surprising adventure.

Somewhere in this book, the series evolves from a steampunk pirate story into something like a tale of Atlantis — if Atlantis were ruled by a terrifying, misogynistic tyrant. And the characters we have come to love throughout the series find themselves perfectly positioned to influence that tyrant’s reign, whether they’d like to or not.

Combine this large-scale storyline — one that shapes countries and destroys lives by the hundreds — with the intimate one playing out between Clark and Addie, and there is honestly something for everyone here.

We also gain two more perspectives in this story, of BeLa and Gunther, and through their eyes the world continues to grow, motives become clearer, and we never have to waste time listening to characters give exposition that they never would have to say aloud if they weren’t characters in a book.

And did you think you knew who was on what side after the last book? That’s funny. You’re probably in for a few more reveals that will turn your understanding on its head yet again. Have you lost track of the back and forth yet? I have, but I don’t mind one bit. Addie and Clark are grappling with some big-league and uber personal fears: from the bad guys achieving world domination to the constant question in this story — are their fathers monsters?

Mahle has managed to make a complicated, gray world that is populated with rich, diverse characters and grips the reader from start to finish. This story deals in grief, corrupt rule, legitimate leadership and the all-too-real human fear that we aren’t good enough. And, when characters see everything is on the line, they inspire me yet again by doing what is admirable, what is right, what is good, despite it being the hardest option.

I have never been more agonized to finish a book and realize the next in the series is not yet available. So, I’ll just be sitting here, nursing my book hangover and shouting from the rooftops how wonderful this series is. I want more people to read it. In the midst of our own fractured world, this is a wonderful balm for the soul.

********

SPOILER: I dropped one star just for the wanting copy editing, and for a plot hole that didn’t get explained away until the end. (Why didn’t Addie just kill the king any of the countless times she had the amulet in training? Or at least consider it to explain why she didn’t? It seems so obvious to me.) Also, there sometimes were characters who lacked a first introduction, and some blocking that I had difficulty following (like BeLa leaving the palace one minute with the captain and Clark, only to next chapter be “here,” which I understood as somewhere in the palace.)

Despite all that, I loved, loved, loved this book. I simply cannot wait for the next.

I usually make a book cover flat lay to post with my reviews on other social media site and y'all will not believe how much I struggled with this flat lay. It took me 2 days to finish it and I'm still not really satisfied with it!

I have mixed emotions about it... some parts I love and some parts I wish I could do differently but even when I tried that, it didn't work and I went back to the first option because it looked better than the second option...

Mmmmm... wait a minute... this is exactly how I feel about this book! There where some parts which I absolutely loved and some parts where I wish that Clark or Addie acted differently... but when I tried to think how they should have acted, my version of the story hits a rock and sinks to the bottom of the ocean.

My point is - some of the things that happened in this book really hurt my feelings. I got so sad because these characters had they're entire lives before them but then they made the wrong choices... but they had to make those wrong choices or else the book would not have turned out the way it did!

I cried so much while reading and a lot of nights I placed my phone in the Time Out Corner and told the book to think about what it did!! I don't like it when a book have complete control over my emotions like this!!

I don't think I mentioned this before but The Tempest Sea also have these tiny interlude chapters about the other characters. Xander and Nell was in The Tempest Sea and in this book there's two other characters. I don't want to say their names because it will spoil the book.

But I love these little in-between chapters. When things get too crazy, they calm you down so you don't get a heart attack and you learn so many intimate details about the other characters which you normally don't get with a First Person format.

I wanted to smash Addie and Clark's heads together more than once. They're so stubborn and they frustrated the crap out of me! They need to learn how to communicate dammit!! What I absolutely loved was the fact that Clark got a friend! It was so cute and I think he needed that friend!

I'm about to start the final book in the series - The Ever Falls and Robin, I'm not ready to say goodbye!

Addie, girlfriend, I just....don't understand you.

I lied, sadly I do understand her. She feels as if everything is her responsibility, she feels responsible for not only her life, but literally everyone else's. She makes rash decisions that change everyone's direction and doesn't really think through all consequences, then gets mad when someone does the same thing.

She is difficult.

This book follows Addie as she makes one of those crazy decisions, to stay kidnapped by a crazy King and take him down from the inside with some ... unlikely help. Our boy Clark is still chasing her around and putting so much emphasis on letting her make her own decisions that it feels more for his benefit than ours, which is fine. Addie won't be told what to do, and if his way of coping with that is to say 500 times he won't make decisions for her, whatever.

I'm not seeing the growth that I hoped to see from Clark and Addie. Clark is fine, he is cool to basically everyone due to the loss of his brother and betrayal by the other, but I still feel so distant from Addie I don't even really care if she gets her happy ending with Clark. I care that Clark is happy...but not really her.

I think the only people I'm really rooting for in this story are Gunther, Locke, and (sometimes) Nell. Oh, and BeLa. I barely know her but she is fab. The supporting characters are starting to make this story for me.

I liked this book. I think it was a good bridge to build-up to a (hopefully) epic showdown in the 4th and final book. It was a short read, and an easy one.

Lead Characters: 3/5
Supporting Characters: 4/5
Plot: 3/5

The Tempest Sea may have gotten the better of Addie and Clark. The depths of Clark's grief, the consequences of Addies choices, will they survive being thrown at opposite side of the island? Can they fight the false king, save the Kingdom and save their world? And if they do survive everything, will they still be themselves when they reach each other again.

⚡️ Steampunk & Magic

⚡️ Deep themes

⚡️ Multiple POV

⚡️ Witty banter

⚡️ Fantastic plot with twists

Wow, alright then! I can not be happier that i was right about book 2's epilogue. I would have been absolutely devastated had i been wrong. I loved this book, i loved the indoduction of new characters. I loved learning more about Commander Nobel. A man i love to hate and hate to love. I absolutely ADORE Gunther and his growing closeness with the new adorably quirky Bella. The action in this one was immediate and pretty much a constant throughout. It was fast paced and so intense with the plotting and the subterfuge. I'm really enjoying them being in the 'forgotten world'. The writing and world building is excellent. The plot is intricate but easy to follow and the characters are so easy to love (and so easy to hate in the case of the villians).

I'm hoping Addie and Clark have finally got their shit together now and there won't be so much 'will the won't they' in book 4. I'm interested to see where the author takes these characters next because it felt like an ending (before the last Pages and epilogue) but where ever they take us, I'm excited for it, but I know at the end, I'll be really sad to leave these characters behind. I've really grown to love them.

I am definitely not stalling to read the last book so the series doesn’t end, definitely not.

I feel like my heart is being broken and the pieces are slowly getting put back together. I don’t think anything could have prepared me for the sheer amount of angst and pain. There is so many things happening, the plot is going down it’s windy road, full of equal parts healing and destruction. My mind has been full of the words on these pages, and I never want to leave the world- although my time there is coming to a close.

As it was with its predecessor, the flashbacks are quite literally killing me. Again, I understand their importance- but I really just want to keep reading the current. It really makes me mad that once the pace picks up and the conflict gets to a high point, it’s interrupted. I feel like it would have been better if they came at better times, rather than at a consistent interval.

As always the plot and character development are phenomenal, I literally have nothing bad to say. I am caused so much emotions by this book- I’m internally crying one second, and then sitting with my mouth gapping the next. I am in for the long ride, and I don’t wish it to end. I want to stay in this bubble of a world, where I’m constantly on edge waiting for the next thing to happen- while realizing how utterly boring real life is. If you want to get lost in another world, this will always be the one I will recommend: I don’t need to read the last one to confirm that, although I gladly am going to.

Thank you to the author and publisher for providing me with an ebook advance reader copy for free- in exchange of me leaving a review both honestly and voluntarily.

Once again I’m blown away by these books! And poor Addie 😫 being kidnapped again! When will this end!?

This book starts out where we left off from the last book, and now it’s Clark’s turn to handle grief, and he’s not doing a great job 😅 and Addie is taking it by stride. She of course knows about grief and allows Clark to do what he thinks best. Sometimes those two frustrate me so much and to no end! And yet I find them so endearing and so adorable at the same time. It’s a vicious cycle!

So, Addie is taken by a crazy sociopath who thinks he’s king and wants her as his queen, and training her to use the artifact(which not sure if that’s a good idea 😅). And she has a plan to stop him, and her family on the outside are trying to come up with a plan to get her out. There’s just a lot that happens! And what Addie has been through and still goes through, it’s amazing she’s still so strong and capable. It just shows how one can be resilient, especially when it comes to helping those you love and care about.

I also really loved learning more about Gunther! Omg my heart went out to this beautiful boy ♥️♥️♥️ he is so much like Addie being so kind and strong despite the terrible things he’s gone through. They’re both just so admirable 😊

Well, I kind of rambled on about the characters and not really the story 😅 how about you just read the series and find out for yourself how wonderful and beautiful it is 😁

Stakes, tensions, and conspiracies collide in the third book to The World Apart series. After the painful cliffhanger of the second book, The Forgotten World immediately addresses the immense loss and grief that comes from losing a sibling, a feeling Addie has known for years, but now gets to see etched in her newly- named husband, Clark. From there, things simply go from bad, to worse.

This book lives, and subsequently studies, that vast gray area of morality: what are you willing to risk to save those around you? What parts of yourself can you bend for the greater good? How many lives are worth destroying to save the vast majority? These questions and more plague all of the main characters that we have grown to love through this series. No decision or action is an easy choice, but rather one forced upon Addie, Clark, Killian, Nell, and many others. It was a page turner, filled with action and grief woven through every chapter, making it nearly impossible to put down.

The book ends with (you guessed it!) a cliffhanger, making the excitement for the final installment for the series even more heightened.

The Forgotten World

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Much like the last book, I dove straight into this one, and I finished it very quickly.

Clark and Addie’s relationship continues to grow and have it’s issues. They both begin to question whether the other wishes to be in the relationship at several points.

Traveling through the Tempest Sea has caused numerous problems, but when Nell uses her crystal to save everyone on the ship, Addie doesn’t appear in Levelia with the rest of them. No one knows where she is or why she didn’t show up with them…that is until they see her on a broadcast with the king.

Addie wakes up in the palace in Levelia with BeLa, Nell’s cousin. Addie must navigate through being with all of these new people, along with General Noble. Who can she trust? General Noble has lied before, yet he is the only person she is familiar with. It is clear the king is beyond evil and will stop at nothing to stay in power.

The battle to get Levelia back to a peaceful existence is in full force. Will they succeed or will they succumb to the king’s wrath? What of Addie and Clark? What are General Noble’s intentions? Is he with the king or against him?

I'm kind of disappointed in this book. It's almost as if it wants to be a dark romance but misses the dark part. It only hints at things and then glosses over with lightness. I get It's YA, but it either needs to go full dark or stay back in the YA darkness. I hope that makes sense.
The flashbacks are useless. They flashbacks to things we already know. They add nothing to the story. They could be removed, and you wouldn't lose anything from the plot. They either needed to be bonus chapters the author gave out or a small novella.
I do like the world, though. I like the main storyline and the characters.
Could this story use more depth? Yes. Is it an entertaining story to listen to while doing housework? Yes. Am I going to keep reading it? Yes.
*This story is rated PG-13. There is no cussing. There are passionate kissing/spice scenes, but they are minimally detailed. It's almost FTB (fade to black) without the actual fading because the details are more on emotions than body parts. There are mentions of nudity and desire. Bloody violence does happen, but it isn't often or explicitly detailed.

What a great read! It definitely exceeded my expectations! Just like it’s predecessors, this 3rd book in the series has so much going on in it! ( I glad my pea brain can/is actually able to keep up!) Keeping you engaged the entire time you’re trying to hurry and get through it, so you know what happens to everybody! Ugh! I love these characters (Not the bad guys, obviously)! Reading through BeLa and Gunther’s POVs in the book was fun! I like how we get to dive into other characters backgrounds/minds in the little snippets in between chapters. All hail Queen PeNelope! So glad she stepped up and embraced her role! You go girl! 💁‍♀️ And getting to see some of the general’s layers peel back during some of those chapters, it’s so sweet 😭 Please don’t let that come back to bite everybody in the butt in the next book! I know a sneaky author that likes to toy with her readers emotions! Haha! I hope everything works out for Addie and Clark in the end! And that my favorites survive! I can’t wait to read the next book! **Waiting is not my thing though 😂

Just like the first two books, this one drew me in and kept my attention long past when I should have gone to bed. I love my son, but I was not sad at all for his bedtime because I immediately went to reading this book.

What I liked most: We get to see Clark and Addie apart, dealing with their issues separately so I felt they were both able to get over that just in love, always together phase. Not to mention Clark needed the time to . Addie also really came into her own in this book. Not that she was ever weak but she always had a lot of help. Yes, she had allies in BeLa and Killian, but there were many times they couldn't help her and it was her own wit and compassion and forethought that got her out of situations.

What I didn't like: Nothing. I mean, aside from the evil ruler who sucked and I cheered when he got what he deserved, this book was great!

Read it. Seriously. Go now and read it (well, start with book one if you haven't already)

Really smooth continuation of storylines. I am still loving the different POV chapters in between the main character storylines. It adds a depth, that is so nice when a reader is developing a connection with minor characters.

I am so freaking happy that Gunther and BeLa connect in this book. What a genius way to have 2 people with genius minds, but different paths of thinking and interacting, fit so perfectly for a happily ever after (we don't find that out yet, but here's to hoping!).

I am still emerged in the story and wanting to race to get to the next book. The characters are likeable and well rounded to make them more real. The growth some characters have out paces other but it is real. I'm very happy with this series so far.

On to the next!!

⭐⭐⭐ Character growth, connections, and likeablity were strong.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ I will definitely recommend to most readers as I feel like anyone who enjoys a touch on magic and action would enjoy these.

“Sometimes peace comes at a cost.”

So much happens in this book, even with the accelerated pace of the story. I still enjoy the quick pace and I feel like the depth of the characters is not sacrificed, but there were elements I wish weren’t so fast. For example, Addie’s work with the amulet. I wish that was more explained as it seemed to happen out of nowhere. I also didn’t enjoy the asides for “the analyst” and “the idealist.” They were too frequent and broke up the flow of the story. Just when I would get into the story it would be interrupted by one of the asides and it completely stole me of the ability to succumb to the story. I did like learning about Gunther’s history, but I didn’t enjoy the asides overall. I also wish that the omnipresent Spectrum could get more screen time. They keep being mentioned and yet we’re no closer to figuring them out. I’m still in love with the story and the characters and I can’t wait to see where we go from here!

Book 3 in the World Apart series - Audiobook Review

I believe the narration gets better with each consecutive book. Each character is brought to life in a unique way by the narration.

Once again the characters face trials and tribulations, yet they grow in strength. The detailed world-building transports me into the story. It's filled with highly entertaining, action-packed, breath-holding adventures. Common themes are trust, brokenness, grief, guilt, loss, unlikely allies, political intrigue, science, and more impossible situations and choices. Determination and a strong resolve remain strong characteristics that encourage me as a reader. I was captivated from the beginning.

Family isn't always blood.

"The force of your will is something to behold."
"Remember that sometimes you have to bend in small ways."

Excited to continue with book 4

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book was everything I expected it to be. I was so easily immersed in the world of Addie and Clark, that I didn’t want it to end. It’s never been easy going for those two, but every single time I’m rooting for them, and I don’t think that will ever change.

This book throws you right into the heart of the action, and doesn’t stop. You feel every emotion possible for both Clark and Addie, and it’s too hard to put down!

I’m a huge fan of all the characters and each one is just so wonderfully written, and it was easy to love the characters you’re meant to love, and easy to hate the villains!

I didn’t want this book to end, and I can’t wait for the next book. I’m in love with the series, and I need more!

I'm so in love with this series. The Forgotten World immediately pulled me back into this wonderful story! It got me so hooked, I couldn't put it down!
The story takes us to Levelia this time and it's definitely like I imagined. I'd love it there (at least without the evil king). We get introduced to more characters and the ones we already know develop so much, it's fantastic and super interesting to watch. We also get to know Gunther better and learn about his background story. I was so excited about it and I would lie if I said I didn't cry a little. I just love him so much!
All in all this book is definitely worth a read! If you loved the first two books, you're definitely going to love this one as well!

These books just keep getting better! This one had me on the edge of my seat dying to know how it would end. When the story opens, Clark is reeling from the loss of his brother and can’t let himself even lean on Addie for support but then they are separated and suddenly it’s clear he was wrong. So much emotional turmoil as they are separated and dealing with uncertainties on where they both stand with their relationship. The King is the worst and so glad he is out of the picture but it looks like Clark and Addie still aren’t out of danger yet. I hope to see the General mend his relationship with Clark and Xav, more growth and trust in Addie and Clark’s relationship and of course the conclusion in the next book.

This is the third book in the series but I fear i’ll never get tired of reading about these characters. We get introduced to some new ones (one is absolutely awesome and one is definitely not). I love the alternating chapters told in different POVs besides Addie and Clark and just gives some really nice backstory and also missing moments in between the main plot that has already taken place.
I only knocked down a star because Addie and Clark were so infuriating. I forgave Clark (like Addie) for the remarks he made while he was grieving but the constant (“is she staying because she loves someone else?” “Is he not looking at me because he doesn’t love me?” or something like that) was a little tiring.

Oh Addie- always finding yourself in terrible situations and freaking out those poor handsome brothers 🤣.
This was another great World Apart book full of action and character growth. I feel like there was a lot more that could have happened with Nell and Xavs characters but since the book isn’t from their POV I guess they’ll have to have their own series? The Forgotten Queen maybe?
I love Clark and Addis’s rocky relationship and how they work through their differences and make me want to jump my own husband 🤣🤣.

In the Forgotten World (The World Apart#3) by Robin D. Mahle, When their only chance of survival lands Clark and Addie on opposite ends of an island that shouldn't exist, they will be forced to contend with the consequences of their latest mistakes, and each others. Will they be able to keep their promises to each other or will their relationship be another casualty? I received this book in a boxset from bookfunnel and am willingly reviewing. Loved the book and the series so far. This book, as a set and individually, is available on Amazon
