Lania Knight's debut collection There Is Fire Here includes fifteen striking personal essays that span nearly a lifetime. Knight left home at sixteen on the back of a motorbike and never looked back. Her writing examines questions of parenthood, fidelity and promiscuity, private and public violence, gender identity, and why and how we write. In these essays, we see what it means to escape and to find ourselves caught in a cycle of coercion and abuse. I live in England, and I lecture in Creative Writing at University of Gloucestershire. My stories and essays have been published or are forthcoming from Short Fiction, Shooter Literary Magazine, Post Road, Fourth Genre, The Rumpus, PANK, New Stories from the Midwest, Jabberwock Review, and elsewhere. I love alt/indie music, writing, and camping. I miss the Ozark Mountains.
