Love DK Eyewitness travel books. I feel as though (old school) travelers have their go-to brand, and mine seems to be DK.
- Lots of great info but not too overwhelming.
- Great layout makes it easy to read and locate things when you're on the road.
- Ensures you don't miss the things you'd be mad you drove past without realizing, but leaves room for your own discoveries.
For a travel book, 5 ⭐️s. But so as not to mess with my reviews, 4⭐️s.
My scoring system:
- 5 stars: I will tell others about the book whether they want to hear it or not.
- 4 stars: Fantastic read, and I wouldn't hesitate to read the book again.
- 3 stars: Enjoyed the book throughly.
- 2 stars: I probably wasted my time reading the book and wouldn't ever read it again.
- 1 star: If I've given this rating, then please perform an intervention.

I've visited Iceland quite a lot and this book is useful to highlight the main areas. I was interested to see if there was anything new or areas I have not explored in detail ( there wasn't, phew!).
Interestingly, it does not give the detail needed to thoroughly explore. However I don't think that is what this book is trying to achieve. As someone already mentioned there is a bias towards summer travel. Winter has so much to offer in my opinion.
That said it gives ample information to loosely plan a trip and then do further research to ensure you maximise your trip. The photography is good. They do mention some excellent, necessary websites.
Would I buy if I was a new traveller to Iceland? Yes I would.

I always love DK Eyewitness books but this one fell a little flat. Everything mentioned was for summertime, so since I’m going this fall I didn’t find a whole lot I’d be able to do there. There was also a lack of restaurants mentioned so that’ll be something we need to look up separately. It gave good information about cars and some driving routes that was helpful
