Hmmm if I had understood that the PhDs who wrote this book were in creative fields rather than historians I would have been less annoyed. I hate reenactments and that there are multiple mini imagined plays about what might have happened... 🙄

This might be the worst book I've ever read. It reads like the authors took the Wikipedia article on Kate Chopin and added a bunch of questions and suppositions. The random scripts of supposed exchanges between Kate and others in her life is bizarre. The book tries to present itself as academic, but it comes off as an artistic take on a literary biography at best.
