The Andovarian royal family is mourning the untimely death of the king. An urgent summons orders the return of the heir -- His Serene Highness Crown Prince Sebastian II....
Just as Seb had tasted normal life, he was forced to do his duty. Accepting the crown meant losing his most precious gift--the love of an ordinary girl.
Now, years on, Marianne Chambers is visiting Andovaria. Seb has been given the second chance he's always longed for. But can he fight tradition and crown Marianne as his very own princess?
I was born in an 'old' English county called Middlesex. You won't find it on any modern map - it's been swallowed up by Greater London and at the swish of a bureaucratic pen it disappeared. Nevertheless, I had a perfectly happy childhood there with two parents who love me and a younger brother I still like! Painfully shy, books were my passion and my first career ambition was to be an author -- mainly, I think, because I didn't fancy leaving home.
Everyone seems to have one teacher who's inspired them more than any other. I met mine when I was thirteen and his name was Frank Richards, our drama teacher. He introduced me to theatre and at fourteen I walked on stage for the first time in a play he'd written. It was the beginning of a new passion.
After a three-year classical theatre training at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, I started my career in professional theatre under my Equity name of Jessica Dean.
In 1991 I married my husband and we decided to start our family. I must have harboured some kind of daft idea that I would have a baby, put it in a papoose and carry on pretty much as before. Not surprisingly it didn't quite work out that way. I hadn't realised quite how powerful mother-love is. I had five children in six years, working only very briefly during this time.
I'm blessed with an easy, happy marriage and five great children, but when illness touched our lives I started to reassess my future. It was the start of my writing career. My second submission to Mills & Boon was accepted in December 2003.
I now live in Bedfordshire with my husband and my children. I love antique fairs, collect kitchenalia, paint in watercolour, and am a signer for the deaf (BSL). My house is in a constant state of disarray but I make great cakes, write books and no one seems to mind.
Really enjoyed this book, but sadly the ending felt rushed, almost as if the author realised she was running close to her deadline/word count. Would have liked to have seen the engagement/relationship aspect done in more detail.
Quite a beautiful story! I was a bit disappointed that nothing is mentioned about the baby s funeral. She never went to her daughter s grave. Sebastian and Marianne could have gone to their baby 's grave together.
5 Stars! ~ In France, as an eighteen year old innocent exchange student, Marianne had fallen head over heels in love with Seb Rodier. But as quickly as their love had come, it had all ended when Seb had disappeared from her life. It wasn’t until months later that Marianne had seen Prince Sebastian’s picture with his fiancée that she had finally known what had become of him. And now ten years later, Seb is back in her life and they find themselves falling in love again. But Seb is royalty, and the end of his marriage had been a huge scandal. Will his sovereignty survive should he marry a ordinary girl?
Oh what a lovely story! I cried for the innocent girl, Marianne had been and I championed the strong woman she had become. And what a Prince! Seb is irresistible. He had always thought of Marianne in the terms of all that he had had to give up, when at 20 he was forced to become the Sovereign Prince and marry. Now, learning what had become of Marianne when he had disappeared, he has come to realize that he had nearly destroyed her. This is a beautifully told story; deeply emotional and immensely satisfying. So wonderful, I immediately read it again!
Natasha Oakley intrigued me as soon as I read her author's note preceding this story. The premise sounded exciting but I wasn't sure that it would be believable - how wrong I was! From the very first page I was riveted to this story.
All of the characters are entirely believable and both Marianne and Seb are wonderful. Natasha Oakley skilfully reveals little by little Marianne's internal conflict at having met Seb again. Not only could I visualise each scene, but I also felt Marianne's heartbreak and pain. The tension between the two was palpable but never over the top.
The romance was genuine and filled with emotion, past and present. It's a book to be savoured and the ending will leave you breathing a huge sigh of contentment. A gorgeous read!
The entired book was ok, but touching. I am glad that Prince Seb found out about his child that he had with Marianne. The ending was sweet, but had question weather the people of Andovaria accepted Marianne as ther Princess.
Read this today.......absolutely awesome book. Took me into a fairytale, with a twist. It had me sniffing in parts as well. Beautifully written, and the emotion is all that a romance novel should be.
setelah hampir sebulan tidak menyentuh buku romance...kisah ini membuat saya terisak-isak lebay...hehehe *lumayan...seharian di tempat tidur karena pilek berhasil menamatkan satu buku*
