The fight with the Shadow League continues! Mason gets kidnapped by the League and Emery, his fated mate, is the only one who can get him out. I was glued to this story and rooting for Mason and Emery to escape the clutches of the bad guys. Emery was so courageous and intelligent. She worked tirelessly on a way to save them both. I really enjoyed this addition to the series, and I can't wait for the next book!

The series is a spin-off from the Mystic River Shifters series and will even have cameo appearances from some of the characters in that series. Like Mystic River, Otter Cove is a small, isolated community inhabited only by shifters—but shifters of all kinds. This story is like part two where we left off with Accidental Mate. Carson and Amelia had to keep going to get the package to Colby Reynolds and Mason Payne, Carson’s twin brother was shot and stayed behind, to aid in their escape.
The story picks up with those sent to kill Carson, shooting Mason, and believing they have their man. They patch him up enough to move him back to Iceland to NLGP’s laboratory. Instead of being one of their elite scientists, he is becoming one of their guinea pigs.
Dr. Emery Smoak will be in Iceland for the International Scientific Summitt. She will be courted by Kam Perkins to come to work for NLGP. It won’t happen immediately, but eventually, she will sign on with them and be assigned to Carson Payne’s team. Emery is kind to everyone she meets at NLGP and makes friends quickly. It is amazing how allowing everyone to have use of her personal Keurig and brings in pastries to share. She treats the security team as well as her fellow scientists the same. So things are confusing when Dr. Payne goes missing and word gets out that he has stolen company data. Then, bring in a man that looks like Dr. Payne, it isn’t long for Emery to realize it is his twin brother and her fated mate.
Kam: Dr. Payne killed four of the men we sent after him. Dr. Payne: Only after they tried to kill me. Kam: Only when you refused to surrender to a superior force.
The story becomes a page-turning tale of secrets, lies, mystery, suspense, and danger. Emery realizes they have Mason heavily sedated, in an iron collar, and it keeps him from healing. She also knows that since Kam is expecting her to aid in the research and cloning, she must make it look like she is while trying to save Mason. Eventually, she will learn that there are a few people she has been in contact with who might be willing to help.
Emery: As always, Terry, thanks for your assistance. Terry: Like I said, if you're ever in trouble, you call on me. Emery: Do you think I'm in danger, Terry? Terry: It's not my place to say, but yes, I do. There's a lot of nasty shit that goes on down here. I've even heard that they found Dr. Payne and brought him back more dead than alive. Well, I'd best be getting back upstairs, but you call if you need anything.
Kam: What did you do with the data, Dr. Payne? Dr. Payne: Wouldn't you like to know, Kam? Kam: I'm going to make you my slave, Dr. Payne. You wait and see. Dr. Payne: So much for shifter solidarity. So, tell me Kam, why are you telling me all of this? Kam: You're smart enough to know the answer.
OMG, I know I was on pins and needles reading as Emery is doing everything she can to not only save herself but also Mason. Time is of the essence, and if she makes one wrong move, it will all be over. I don’t want to give anything away, but this story does have some unusual surprises. I liked Mason and Emery together. They have a chemistry that began in dream visions—and when they do get together, it is powerful and they make a formable team.
The story is part of this battle of good versus evil and it is coming to a head. As these stories continue, so does the danger of the Shadow League and that means that various shifters groups are preparing for war—one they know is imminent. While these stories do not end on cliffhangers, the epilogue is a segue into the next story.
Edgy, Imaginative, a paranormal thriller! It doesn’t matter how many novels I’ve read written by Delta James; each one takes me into a world I am loath to leave! Her newest series, about the shifter sanctuary known as the small-town community of Otter Cove, Alaska, brings fated mates together in the midst of a probable worldwide civil war between paranormal factions and ever-increasing danger and drama. Yet despite those threats to life and limb, Emery and Mason find each other. Emery, a gifted scientist who specializes in genetic therapy, is hired by NLGP to expand her research in the hopes that it will find a key to healing. But even in the confines of her lab, Emery begins to see that all is not as it first seemed. Especially as that pertains to her boss Carson who first goes missing and then is accused of taking NLGP intellectual property, both are contrary to what she has experienced over her months at NLGP. Then things go from murky to downright frightening when her new boss asks her to use her gene therapy to increase the healing of a man who looks exactly like Carson. What happens next takes these thoroughly developed and believable paranormal characters on race to save their own lives and perhaps all shifter species on the face of the earth. I have to admit this one gave me all the feels: I laughed, cried, and sat on the edge of my seat as I read. Though I volunteered to read an ARC copy of FERAL MATE, I am also submitting this honest, 5-STAR review voluntarily. Readers will become totally invested in these marvelous characters and may even find, as I did, difficulty pulling themselves away from the action to deal with real-life responsibilities. Even if you have never read a paranormal romance before, FERAL MATE is a GREAT READ and should be the next addition to the library of any serious romance reader. Get your copy FERAL MATE, today! 😉
In 'Feral Mate', the fifth book in Delta James' "Otter Cove Shifters" series, things are coming to a head. With every book in this series, I think I'm prepared for what she's going to throw at me but every time there are twists and turns in all the drama and intrigue, I get completely lost in the story. One of the best parts is watching, yes, I said watching, the Resistance make a plan come together. There were a couple of things in this book that surprised me: 1) the turning of a Snow Leopard and 2) there was a part that had my eyeballs sweating and I couldn't see the page for a minute or so. I sit on pins and needles to see where Ms. James takes us next. This is a five-star read regardless of how you look at it.
When I say this story pulls you in quickly and moves the arc forward while not sacrificing the characters’ story, I mean it. I started this book and finished seven hours later. This is Mason and Emery’s book and Book Five in the Otter Cove series. The author continues to interweave all her series without missing a beat. Her ability to world build both within each series and in the larger sense with all the groups is a feat few undertake and even fewer have the ability to accomplish it as seamlessly as the author does.
There’s a brief flashback at the beginning with Mason so the reader isn’t wondering how he knows things later in the story. We get to meet Hayden again and that brief glimpse builds the reader’s interest for his story later. The reader is left with the feeling he’s probably the only one Colby is truly leery of. There’s a brief synopsis of the events in Accidental Mate when he and his brother are attacked but the first part focuses rightly on Emery. She’s courted to join the research in Iceland where she meets Terry and others. She’s of the belief that being kind to others and bringing treats and caffeine go a long way to building goodwill and she’s right. She & Mason have met each other in the dream world but per the norm, don’t tell each other their names. That causes confusion with Carson appears as Emery’s team lead and she thinks he’s her fated mate and rightly becomes confused. It’s not until Carson takes off (Accidental Mate) & Mason is brought in that she realizes her fated mate is really his twin. She’s not the only one to make that mistake. The retrieval team and baddie mistake Mason for Carson – thankfully because they keep him alive. Emery is equal to Mason in this story. She’s a force to be reconned with. An act first and ask for forgiveness later lady. Mason understands and accepts it. He’s the typical alpha but doesn’t doubt Emery’s ability to handle things when he can’t. The author keeps creating female characters who are strong, take no prisoner, and alphas without the need of a man to protect them but appreciate a man who’s an equal. They don’t need rescuing but appreciate the assist as they do the rescuing. The book doesn’t forget the humor either – “Carson comes out of his lab”, Deke laughing when he finds out what Emery did, and the twist of who Colby’s fated mate is – makes the reader almost giddy in anticipation to know how stressed Colby is going to be in that book & excited she’s not got a damsel in distress bone in her body. Emery and Mason are perfectly matched and the Resistance is stronger for that. As for the chemistry, oh it’s there, the author has managed to infuse that in the story without distracting from the story and allowing the story to move forward as it should. The Baddie in this story was deliciously evil and patterned on the old time baddies – glad she didn’t get a pill. This is the first in a long time, I want more the five stars available.

While attending a scientific summit in Reykjavik Iceland, Emery Smoak, a cave lion shifter, is approached by Kam Perkins with the Northern Lights Genome Project (NLGP). Because of her impressive work in genetics, Kam offers her a position with NLGP. Emery was admittedly flattered by the offer, and although she didn't know a lot about NLGP's work, she agreed to take a tour of the facility and consider the offer. During her tour, Emery noted several buildings that were not accessible to her but accepted the explanation that those buildings housed the most confidential research projects. While her own work would be proprietary, she would not be issued access to these closed areas.
Every night Emery would experience visits from her fated mate, her dream lover who she had yet to meet. When she was introduced to her project manager at NLGP, she was certain she had found her mate, but he didn't seem to recognize her, which was very confusing and frustrating. She didn't know Carson Payne had a twin. Mason Payne, Emery's true fated mate, was with the Resistance, a shifter group charged with stopping the unethical experiments of NLGP, as they were strongly suspected of trying to produce super soldiers by breeding fullblood shifters with humans. It was reported to be excruciating in its methods and didn't care how many test subjects did not survive their experiments. They had to be stopped.
When Carson disappears from NLGP, Emery assumes that he made a discovery related to their proprietary research that he could not accept. They sent a recovery team to find and return him to NLGP. This was the Resistance's chance to substitute Mason for Carson. Unfortunately, Mason was seriously injured during the recovery. He was captured and returned to the NLGP hospital, where Emery first met him and realized he was her fated mate.
It's going to be up to Emery to plan and execute their escape. Kam thinks she is going to experiment on him with her gene therapy, but she has other plans. What are her plans? Will Mason agree? Will they make their escape without getting caught, because if they get caught, they know they will be killed.
Once you get started reading "Feral Mate," you won't want to quit until you get to the end. It's scientifically detailed, wonderfully descriptive, and you feel the emotions expressed by the characters. It doesn't make any difference which one of the Otter Cove Shifters books you read first. Once you read one, you'll want to read them all.
Delta James has trained her readers to expect fast-paced, page-turning action, but Feral Mates ramps up the adventure to a whole new level – all while keeping the romance of fated mates at the center of the plot. It’s the perfect blend of heart-stopping moments, steam and all-out love.
Emory is a skilled geneticist who has been recruited to work for the Northern Lights Genome Project (NLGP) in Iceland, not knowing it’s helmed by the dark powers of the Shadow League, an organization that threatens shifters in its push toward domination. Emory, a rare prehistoric cave lion shifter, has smarts, gutsiness and determination, but her superpower is niceness. She quickly wins over NLGP staff with her thoughtful acts of kindness, especially the coffee and pastries she cheerfully provides. This ability to develop friendships is going to play an important role later in the plot.
She’s sure she’s found her fated mate in fellow scientist Carson Payne, but he shows no sign of reciprocating the feeling and quickly goes missing, accused of stealing NLGP secrets. When NLGP recovers an injured “Carson,” Emory discovers that the man is actually Carson’s twin Mason – and her true mate. Now she just has to keep him alive.
Mason, a snow leopard shifter, is shot when he comes to his brother’s rescue and secured in an NLGP lab where he wears an iron collar that prevents him from shifting and quickly healing. He must continue to pretend to be his twin, for that’s all that’s keeping him alive. Fortunately, even though he’s an alpha, he recognizes his mate’s intelligence and works with her rather than shunting her to the side to keep her safe from harm while he does all the rescuing.
Wonderful new addition to the Otter Cove/Mystic River series, filled with unexpected twisted, villainy villains, and a satisfying HEA.

FERAL MATE:Otter Cove Series FINAL RATING: 3/5 🌟 SMUT RATING: 2.5/5 🌶️
A Delta James book so early in the year? Honestly I’m surprised. Listen, I generally enjoy Delta’s books, her syndicate series and Alpha warlord series are by far my favourite books from her. But I’m not gonna lie, in my personal opinion, after those 2 series, I feel like the books that followed ..just weren’t the same. I started skimming most of the books she was releasing. (Including all the new shifter ones) so I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been avoiding Delta’s newest releases, because I know I’ll read them as some stage, but I’m not eager to get to them. But i decided to give Delta another chance and read FERAL MATE, here are my thoughts: 1.) The whole shifters/ fated mates dynamic was kept to how she normally writes it, and I liked that. Because one of the things I mostly enjoy about Delta’s books is her choice of writing in regard to mates and the dynamics between the MMC and the FMC. 2.) The smut..was okay. As previously mentioned, in both her syndicate and alpha lords series, those books were like bdsm and very spicy. The MMC were very dominant, possessive and overbearing. However, in most of these new shifter books, the MMC tend to be underwhelming in a sense. Less dominant and alpha male. And maybe that doesn’t bother other people, and it doesn’t bother me so much to a point I won’t read the books, but more of it just taking away from the book itself. So I would definitely like to see a continuation of the alpha males that we saw in previous books. 3.) Characters? Eh, honestly I don’t have much to say about them this time. Mason and Emery were alright. Nothing special, they never did anything that made me swoon. Emery did make sure that Mason got out of the experimental lab. So good for her. She had a bit of a backbone than most FMC. Mason was just not interesting at all. He was just there because this book needed someone with a dick.
4 stars - Yes, hear me out. Even though I have a lot of issues with how rough this story is put together, I still feel the storyline as a whole was very much enjoyable.
Firstly, The way the scenes and bits of information were being provided were very disjointed/didn’t match the timeframe. Like how Emery suddenly knows Mason’s name in the hospital room and not his twin brother, Carson when there was no previous mention of him anywhere in her travels. The closest piece of info being that Carson rarely talked about family and she didn’t even know he had family. She also discovers that he’s a snow leopard shifter and he finds out she’s a cave lion shifter when they chase each other in their shared dream where she realises he accepts her and loves her even though she is a cave lion. Again, later on in person, both Mason and Emery reveal to each other their different shifter species as if it’s the first time discovering this fact and she goes tense wondering if he will accept her.
Another little thing I found annoying was the author liked to use all tenses of the word ‘onboard/onboarded/onboarding’.
Even though the scenes could have transitioned more smoothly, I liked the authors take on the connection between Mason and Emery even before they were bonded as fated mates and I could follow the different characters as a standalone book without having read the other books. The epilogue was the exception where it didn’t seem like it had anything to do with the story but more of a ‘peek at the next book’ kind of chapter and could’ve done without it. The bonus epilogue you get for signing up to the authors newsletter was a more appropriate epilogue for the book.
As I received this as an ARC from BookSirens, I won’t point out the editing mistakes in the book.
I absolutely love this series. The steamy relationships, the edge of your seat action and the incredible characters are some of the best books I have read. Highly recommend! Must read!
Dr. Emery Smoak is a geneticist and a prehistoric cave lion shifter. She was recruited by Kam Perkins to work for the Northern Lights Genome Project (NLGP) in Reykjavik.
Mason Payne is a snow leopard shifter. He was recruited by Colby to work for the Resistance. His twin brother Carson worked for NLGP and stole some of their research and fled to Mason's place in Alaska. Mason would occasionally switch places with his brother to gather Intel for the Resistance.
Mason, Carson and Amelia are hunted down by the Shadow League, Mason is shot and on the brink of death. He is picked up by the Shadow League and flown to NLGP in Reykjavik where they keep him in a medically induced coma. Kam Perkins asks Emery to work on saving Mason with her genetic research. Emery realizes it is Mason in the bed and not Carson as everyone else believes and that he is her fated mate. In order to save him she injects him with some of her DNA causing him to transition into a cave lion. Kam plans to use Mason to make super soldiers for the Shadow League. Emery with the help of a security guard she befriended rescued Mason. They use the tunnels under the lab to escape to a Resistance safe house. They are flown back to Alaska where a team is dispatched to destroy the lab. They get their HEA.

A simply Wonderful Read, continuation Otter Cave Shifters will hold you transfixed This is a wonderfully captivating read and it continues the series so that you will be transfixed by the characters and by the remarkable plot which I guarantee you will be completely captivated by. Emery had moved to Reykjavik where she had joined the important Northern Lights Genome Project, she is surprised when she is there to have a badly injured man arrive on her bench and she knows that he will die if he is not treated immediately. Dr. Carson Payne had believed that his life had been forfeit when he had been with his twin brother and his mate, they had been trapped and were being chased down by the enemy. When he had been injured, he had insisted that they continue on their way and he being severely injured would take out as many of their chasing enemies as possible. Mason realises when he wakes up still breathing that he has to continue convincing the Dr, that he is in fact his twin brother and his mate are his main concern he must keep them both as safe as possible, I guarantee that you will be transfixed by this wonderful plot and by the characters and then will be left looking out for future books to read within this series. I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Emery starts a new dream job doing genetic research and recognises her boss as her fated mate but he doesn't seem to have any clue about it. Then the boss Carson absconds with highly secure company information and is almost killed, but brought back as a prisoner of sorts, and suddenly he is now her mate because it's Caron's twin Mason! Emery discovers some hideous experiments that have been going on in the company, for the Shadow League, and there are plans to experiment on Mason/Carson too. Together they figure a way out of captivity and then reconvene with Colby, Carson and Deke to take down the corporation.
I loved Emery and Mason's story. Although they were in difficult circumstances and serious situations, yet the characters were always teasing and flirting and laughing, it made for a fun read but was also suspenseful, exciting and sexy. I liked how the story came together, with Emery's speciality and role fitting into the Otter Cove world.
This was my first Otter Cove story but I have read all the Mystic River stories now and I like that they're making so much progress against the Shadow League. I'm really amazed at how the author has created this world in which there are now 2 series of books running more or less concurrently. I definitely need to catch up on the previous Otter Cove books! Also paranormal romance is not my top genre pick but I have been loving the author's work.

We met Mason briefly in the last book; he’s the twin to Dr Carson Payne. They may look alike, but the skill set is different. 😏.
Dr Emery Smoak had worked for some time with Carson. Suddenly, she … feels… differently around him. And how did he get into the situation he is in? Who does she believe? Is he the bad guy, traitor to their company? Or… something else? Emery has been a loner for a very long time; who does she trust?
The details of the Shadow League are becoming ever more apparent, as are their ultimate goals, & the intent of the one setting those goals & pulling the strings.
Spoilers can be a tricky thing. Don’t want to give any. 🤪
But, it’s NOT a spoiler to say Delta James knows how to write main characters, male & female, that you fall in love with, that love each other beyond any mating bond, that totally bring on the steam. DJ also continues to reveal more of the story arc that weaves thru several of her shifter series. How she keeps it all straight, keeps it engrossing, keeps it HOT, ( both plot & people!!), I don’t know, but I’m certainly glad that she does. I eagerly look forward to what’s coming next. You could pretty much read these as stand alones, but, really, why would you want to? Go for the WHOLE experience: Otter Cove, Mystic River, & Winged Warriors. You’ll be fascinated too.
And, make sure you go for the Bonus scenes made available at the conclusion; they’re fun too!

Colby acts as though he is a mafia wannabe, but it is all a front, although he is a smuggler. His mate, Brie (Aubrey), is the leader of the Shadow Sisters, a group of women who help shifter females and some human women get away from their abuse. Colby now helps them since he is rich as Midas. He enlisted the help of Mason Payne, twin brother of Dr. Carson Payne, who was in the previous book. Emery is also a doctor working at the same lab as Carson did. However, she was really confused as she used to dream about who she thought was Carson as her mate, but he never acted like it. Yup, she is a shifter. Dr. Emery Smoak, ends up at Reykjavik, Iceland and working with Carson and her field is gene therapy to an extent. Terry, one of the guards is really cool. I loved him from the moment he was introduced.
In the last book, (semi spoiler if you didn’t read it!) a lot because I thought Mason died. I was so relieved that he didn’t, I actually was praying that through the book until the end. We get to see a bunch of the previous books’ characters in this one. The evil in this book is unbelievable and there will be more to come. As Emery tries to help Mason things between them come into being and it is romantic. There are some hilarious scenes, some scary ones and some so sweet my teeth actually hurt, lol. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The fifth book in the Otter Cove Shifters series, 'Feral Mate' is the story of Emery, a geneticist and research scientist and Mason, a shifter and twin brother of Carson who was also a researcher at the Northern Lights Research Project (NLRP) in Reykjavik. There are dangerous and nefarious research projects that are being done at the facility. Carson suspected what was happening and stole data from them and fled to Alaska. While running from the Shadow League (introduced earlier in the series) with Carson, Mason was severely injured in an attack on them, and Carson thought he was dead. Mason was taken to Reykjavik by the Shadow League who thought he was his twin Carson and was put in a medical coma to heal.
Emery is hired to treat Mason and bring him back to health so the NLRP can use him. He knows the evil that is the NLRP and Emily figures it out, as well as that Carson is really Mason. Their intense adventure starts as she steals data, and they plan their escape. It's a wild ride and riveting. I couldn't put it down! I suggest reading the stories in order, even though it's not necessary since Delta James provides an opening that connects the previous story to this one. She is quite a storyteller!! I can't wait to read the sixth book in the series.

In true Delta James' style readers definitely will not be disappointed in her "Feral Mate" story. I will admit I had taken a short break from reading and as soon as I started reading this instalment I quickly realised how much I've missed this incredible world of shifters. Not only are readers rewarded with such wonderfully created characters but truly emotive and exciting plots that keep you 'glued' to each page of the story. Fantastically balanced story with action sequences, drama, tension, romance, lustful dreaming moments between fated mates, and pure evil verses good concepts. Absolutely loved the lead female, Emery, not only blessed with intelligence but a true kind heart but still with a degree of true strength and resilience. Of course every lead male character is just another Alpha we would all love to have in our own lives, yeapers I've got a harem of them now!
Anyway its time for me to play catch up on a few of the other stories I missed and I know for sure I won't be disappointed. It is a story you could pick up and read as a standalone, but simply there is so much more happening in the background that connects to so many others in Delta's series. Each book gives readers a far bigger degree of enjoyment with a bigger overall scope of the shifter universe.

In "Feral Mate" by Delta James, readers are plunged into a world of mystery, science, and unexpected connections.
Mason, initially presumed dead, becomes the linchpin in a complex plot, awakening in an enemy's laboratory with high stakes. Emery, a member of the Northern Lights Genome Project, will do anything to help him, since he is her fated mate. As the narrative unfolds, Mason's true identity and his connection to Emery bring forth challenges that heighten the suspense. The book takes unexpected turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.
Delta James weaves a powerful emotional journey, exploring themes of love and sacrifice. The central question of whether Mason can maintain his secret identity while securing his escape with his mate adds layers of complexity to the plot. Emery's courage and intellect shone brightly as she tirelessly dedicated herself to finding a solution that could save them both. I loved her character. The story is laden with twists and turns, ensuring that readers stay engrossed until the final page.
“Feral Mate” is a captivating read that draws you in immediately and doesn't let go until you've finished the book. Now I'm excitedly waiting for the next books to see what happens with the Resistence and the Shadow League.

Carson and Mason Payne were twin snow leopard shifters, with Mason remaining in Alaska while Carson lived and worked at a genetic research facility in Iceland. Carson overheard some of the other laboratory people talking and decided that the lab not what advertised to be, leaving and taking information on cloning experiments with him… in the meantime Mason had been sneaking in under Colby Reynold's direction when Carson was scheduled to be off to find what he could on cloning… but when all came to a head, Mason sacrificed himself for Carson and Amelia, Carson's fated mate… although he wasn't killed, but captured by Shadow League, who mistook him for Carson… Emery was a scientist who was part of Carson's team at the lab, and had been dreaming of him for a while, but Carson seemed unaffected by the dreams, which was strange for a fated mate… not realizing until she actually saw him that the man who was barely alive wasn't Carson, but his brother… but how to get them free from the lab without both of them getting killed, or worse, experimented on, as she was a cave lion shifter?? You will need to read this thriller to see what happens… I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Each story is exciting and awesome. The characters are fantastic. It is the home of many different types is shifters. A war is on the horizon. A war between an evil group that wants to rule the world. Led by an evil dragon shifter. While others known as the resistance. The resistance is led by a Lynx shifter named Colby. Colby sets out to recruit a sexy Snow Leopard named Mason. Colby believes an Genetics company called the NLPG. Is working for the evil group. He wants Mason to infiltrate the company, and gather information. Mason's twin works at NLGP. But Mason does not believe his brother truly knows. What NLGP is up to. Emery is A rare cave Lion Genetieist shifter. Her work in genetics is so good that the NLGP. Set out to recruit her , not telling her what they are really up to. It seems fate maybe leading Mason, and Emery to meet. Mason soon learns Emery is his fated mate. Now he needs the information , and convince Emery to be his! You will love this exciting, funny, thrilling, and scorching hot shifter romance. It is a five star plus series.
This was an absolute amazing read. I read it from start to finish in one sitting.
The storyline wasn't your typical love at first sight instant connection per se, it was more, it was spell bounding and intoxicating. The intimate physical connection that transpired between them was bewitching, a fantasy in a dream state but none the less real and just as intense.
When reality sets in and you are confronted with atrocities that leave you sick to your stomach you realize that your research and specific field of study is not going to be used for the greater good.
I have loved everyone of the shape shifter books in all the series that Delta has written, but this one was more profound. The strength and devotion that shone through Mason was admiral. His deep resounding ability of respect for his mate and dominant changes that occurred, did not diminish his virility as an alpha in any way it empowered him.
The emotional goodbye to his former shifter- self was heartbreaking.
An Amazing Read 10 +⭐

I’m addicted to both Otter Cove and Mystic River series and I just hope Delta James keeps feeding my habit, one new book at a time! As the clash between the mysterious Shadow League and the Resistance approaches, Colby Reynolds’s and his crew continue to draw more talented people to help defeat the ominous Shadow League.
I cheered while reading Mason’s because it’s not often an author will change her mind and find a way to keep a character who has already died (off page in his brother’s book). The short introduction to Mason was enough to make me eager to learn more about this Spec Op warrior/Arctic Lumberjack and he definitely doesn’t disappoint.
The storytelling was a little different from other books in this series, but it helped fill out the connection between Mason and Emery, and her prior introduction to his twin brother Carson. I loved the twist of who rescued who - Mason’s an alpha who appreciates his beautiful, brilliant mate.

Imagine Emery's surprise when the man on the bed is her dream lover. Looking exactly like Dr. Carson Payne, but Emery knows he is not Carson. But his twin brother Mason and her fated mate. I love 🥰 this series, amazing, thrilling and spectacular story with delightful and fascinating characters. I enjoyed watching Emery as she dreams of her fated mate and hopes to find him. I find Emery fascinating she’s is a scientist, beautiful, strong, intelligent woman and a prehistoric cave lion. The fun begins when she starts a new job, it’s great to watch her interact with others and make friends. Her new boss Carson vanished and you can feel the tension and fear destroying trust as everyone is questioned. Emery’s considering leaving, you can feel her fear and anxiety. Emery is asked to take a different position, using her DNA work to heal a patient. Her patient is Mason a snow leopard shifter, Carson’s identical twin and her fated mate. The heart pounding fear of discovery, the desperate need to save Mason and escape the horror hidden away in the underground labs. Emery and Mason are wonderful together, both stubborn, determined and delightful. I loved every second of this extraordinary story I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Mason, a snow leopard, is mistaken for his twin brother when he's captured and taken by the enemy. There he is sedated and unconscious. Emery, a cave lion, is a genetic scientist that slowly learns of the horrors that her employer is doing. In her dreams she sees her fated mate, but when mason's brother Carson shows no interest she gave up the thought, until she see Mason's unconscious body then it clicked. Twins! She decides to save him and her from her boss's crazed plans and starts gathering evidence against her employers company. Making friends with a guard, she found the help she needed to escape with her mate.
Lots of danger and espionage as the danger continues fighting against the Shadow League.
Emery is so intelligent and kind so out started those that thought they could use her. She was no damsel in distress as she was the one to save her mate and made connections to help them escape. Mason was humble enough trust Emery's judgements and not fight against her plans.

Mason and Emery's story had a very nice, but unexpected twist to it.
I felt there was some rather intense suspense occurring while Mason and Emery were in NGLP. There wasn't a detailed description of what was in Lower Level 3. Yet, there was just enough information for my imagination to take hold and be horrified at the experimentation going on down there. Kat was a really creepy, dangerous lady.
I liked the way Mason and Emery were able to communicate via the link. It was also interesting how Every and Carson interacted compared to Mason and Emery.
I also enjoyed the final Op in the book. On my wish list would have been an epilogue (that happened before the existing epilogue) about what happened with Terry, Eddie, and the NGLP people who were friends of the Resistance.
A good read that felt like it was over much too quickly.

Another excellent book from Delta James. I could not put this one down and read it in one day.
Dr. Emery Smoak takes a job at Northern Lights Genome Project Reykjavik, Iceland. She starts working with Dr. Carson Payne who seems to be the man appearing in her dreams; her dream lover. However much to her disappointment, there is no spark at all between them.
Then one day, she is taken to work in a secret laboratory where Dr. Payne is restrained on a bed. He is supposed to have stolen sensitive material from the company and tried to escape with it. During the escape he was badly injured. To Emery's shock, the man on the bed is her dream lover. He looks exactly like Dr. Carson Payne, but Emery knows that he definitely is not Carson. He is obviously Carson's twin brother Mason and her fated mate.
Emery must work out how to save Mason and ensure that both of them escape from the facility.

Another excellent, well written action packed story that will keep you entertained beyond the story.
This story is about Mason (Carson's twin brother thought dead) and Emery.
I loved how each brought a unique gift/skill to their lives. What Emery did to save Mason was unique, especially in the shifter world.
Each had a power and sense of doing the right thing. It is refreshing to read the MCh being the one "saving " the hero. In more than one way also. That Emery is beautiful, intelligent and calm with the situations they were in makes her the perfect mate for Mason. He too is calm in dangerous situations . Willing to risk his life for friends , family and the cause.
Spicy steam to the romance. Perfect HEA.
As with the other stories this one could be read as a standalone. There is a back story. Hinting at where the series will go. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book is a short but interesting addition to the series and provides a bit of forward motion in the underlying plot that runs through this and a couple of related series. (And we finally meet Brie, Colby's fated mate!)
Feral Mate is Mason and Emery's story. I'm really glad that Mason survived the events of the previous book because first of all, his "death" was pretty sad, and second, because he and Emery are so perfect together. He's more dead than alive when she is assigned to care for him by the woman who recruited her at NLGP and she quickly realizes he is not her boss Carson, but his twin brother, Mason - and that he, not Carson, is her fated mate. She also realizes not is all as it seems at NLGP, leading to a daring escape from Reykjavik.
I like the way each book builds upon the last in the overall plot concerning the nefarious Shadow League and their goal of world domination and the subjugation of humans. Great writing by Delta James, who does an excellent job of weaving the plot through the interconnected series.

Wow, another exciting book to this series, "O boy" this story was about Mason and Emery, Mason is Black Ops with an intelligent smart twin brother Carson they are Snow Leapard shifters. Emery is like Carson need Scientists they both work together. The dreams that she has is of her mate so when she sees Carson she cannot speak, he is her boss. Emery was asked if she wanted to work on her genetic research, she is taken to some lower floors that are highly classified that's when she can feel her mate. Mason was contacted by Colby for him and his team to destroy the lab's that can harm the shifter world, Mason and his men go in, Mason is captured and tells his men to get away so they only have one of them not all of them to do their testing on. Can Emery save her mate!
Emery and Mason's story is one I had very much been looking forward to since I read Amelia and Carson's story in Accidental Mate. Mason was nearly killed protecting his twin brother and his mate, thinking himself dead. When he woke up in Iceland in a nefarious lab, he found his fated mate, Emery. Of course, the Shadow League and The Master figure heavily into the story, as they are becoming more and more of a threat in each book. I both cannot wait and yet dread the end of this series. Cannot wait because I have to know how it plays out, and dread because at some point the series will be over and done. Delta James is the Queen of shifter romances, and this one is no disappointment. It is absolutely worth the one click.
I received and advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
