This book was written with typical Ruby Knoxx quality: charming, smooth, great flow of story.
However, it commits the worst sin a romance can when the MC's are fighting: the h is portrayed as strong but she acts completely spineless. Her ex kidnaps her, right after she had just been held captive and tortured. She doesn't flip the fuck out in the car like anyone would have. Worse, she caves and rolls over to tell him what he wants in exchange for cinnamon rolls.
Umm, excuse me? Didn't we just establish that this is a black-ops trained woman who led a covert team and withstood WEEKS of torture without cracking off-page and now that she's on-page she's rolling over for cinnamon rolls and of course just can't handle her lady parts around the H. It flabbergasts me how often women are written as being completely overcome with hormones around a hot guy. The hot guy of course can control his hormones (the opposite of real life) and finds it hilarious that the woman is so weak. There's always smirking for some reason.
Don't spend time telling me this woman is a badass but then the only thing she does to the H after he kidnaps her is glare at him. Where is there any time in the whole book where this supposed kickass woman has any power over her situation OR herself? I already feel the intended frustration of the h being kidnapped, and it's compounded by the frustration at the author for saying one thing and then showing the opposite. GAHHHHHHH.
To be fair this is a huge problem I have with a LOT of romances these days, women being written as strong then acting like spineless horny teenagers. So maybe I'm just overreacting. But seriously, have you ever been reading a romance and thinking to yourself "WTF I thought she was supposed to be stubborn. If I were her I would have never let the guy get away with that" or similar. That's this whole book for me.

Oliver is retired from the Silver Wolves Black Ops team. The team was called in from retirement when a group of rogue shifters who were known to be trying to take over territories. Another special ops team of 5 went undercover into the group and hasn’t been heard from for three weeks, the leader was suppose to be in contact two weeks after going undercover. Malcolm the leader of all the special ops teams found out that four of the team was dead and the leader was captured. The Silver Wolves didn’t realize that the woman who was captured use to be on their team. When Oliver found out he was furious. Evelyn is a wolf shifter who was undercover with her team trying to get information about Bron the leader of the rogue shifters. When they were found to be undercover Bron killed everyone in front of her and chained her up in the basement. Oliver and Evelyn were a couple five years ago until Oliver arranged to keep Evelyn from going out on dangerous assignments. The Silver Wolves Black Ops team are tasked with finding Evelyn and bringing her back. Evelyn has been beaten and starved. Bron not only wants information but he also wants Evelyn. Evelyn hears a commotion outside her cell and next thing she knows Oliver as his wolf comes in and he changes to free her. Oliver still wants to keep Evelyn safe so when she is discharged from the hospital he takes her to a safe house to keep her captive and away from the action. Oliver leaves to go to a meeting and Evelyn is chained to the bed when three men from Bron’s group come for her. Will Oliver’s wolf sense the need to go back to the cabin? Will Olivia be able to get to Evelyn before she is kidnapped again? Will the Silver Wolves Black Ops get to Bron before the bond that Bron forced on Evelyn takes full strength? Will Oliver realize that he wants to be with Evelyn even if she still wants to work in a dangerous situation? Will Oliver and Evelyn find love and happiness together?

Fantastic Enemies to Lovers Shifter romance!

An action-packed story: Oliver and Evelyn were both Silver Wolves until he side-lined her to safe missions. and he now, five years later, he has, but when he is told of her latest mission going wrong, he is determined to rescue her. When she left, she went to join the Redwoods, going on dangerous missions, the current one, to infiltrate and get information on a rogue group of wolf shifters threatening the shifter council.
Oliver and Evelyn constantly bang heads: He is determined to protect her for her own good and she is just as determined to take out the threat to the council, however there is something she is trying to keep secret before it blows up in her face. There are plenty of sex scenes between them to keep the story interesting. The twists and turns of this story kept me turning the pages right to the end.

Very exciting. Action packed and of course steam to the romance. Lots of twists and unpredictable.
I liked that the book had both POVs .
I could sympathized with Evie. She went through quite a bit. But to me it seemed like she did not want to compromise. My way or the highway type of personality. Oliver wanted to keep her safe, and he did in a unique way, but she did not see it that way.
I'm glad Oliver was willing to go the extra mile to make sure she was ok.
There is an HEA and steam to the romance. I loved the twists and interaction with the "retired op team". How they worked together to combat the enemy.

Independence feels good

Oliver from the Silver Wolf pack had a fling with Evelyn and tried to control theops she went on for fear that she'd get hurt. She moved to another black ops team and was made the head of that team. Her whole team was kidnapped tortured and killed in front of her. She was brutalized, assaulted and tracked. Oliver and her old team saved her only for Oliver to kidnap her to keep her out of danger. She needed to fight for herself and be independent so she fought Oliver when...
It is a great fast page turner if you want to know the rest then read it for yourself.
Age 18 and over. Has sensitive issues like rape and brutality.

This is a fight for life

Silver wolves continue with Oliver and Evelyn. Who are both members of the team. For safety reasons, they split, which causes a massive rift after five years, and they come back together.
The author does a great job with character development, plot in the world like previous books. I always look forward to the next book in the series to see what she comes up with next.

From the start to the finish I really liked Evelyn and Oliver’s story. The beginning gets your attention and I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. A wonderful read that was full of action. I received an arc and the views and opinions are my own.

Good book. Danger, love, lust, friendship, loss this book has it all. I enjoyed it. Thought that Oliver was being a little overprotective but I understood why.
