I loved this story. I had never read any stories by Patricia, but this one was so wonderfully written that this won't be my last!

Delia and Elias were friends as kids, but then he married, moved away, and started his life elsewhere, and she married and created her home here. But now he's back temporarily to help family, and they both are widowed. Delia lost her husband, and her 4 sons are overdoing it, scaring off future any possible husbands and trying to take the place as the man of the house. Elias has lost his wife, and his daughter is grieving so much, so she is considering leaving the Amish faith, not believing there is anything keeping her there. Delia and Elias come together to fake "court" so he can mentor the boys, and she can mentor the girl. They want to bring hope of a future, after loss, back to their kids. But what they didn't consider is that it would have them hoping for a future with each other. But it's all only fake, right? And what happens when the kids find out their plan? Could a fake relationship lead to something more? What happens when Elias is finished helping family and he needs to return home?

The way Patricia managed to create this friendship between Elias and Delia was perfect. The way you could understand the teenagers' struggles and outlook on things. And you could see how the parents tackled each problem head-on , with love. I loved it! And wow, Ezekial in the story is such a wonderful boy!

Patricia gives us a couple that have both been hit with loss, struggling as parents and coming to grips with aging... and she brings so much beauty from it all.

I read this as I was coming up on a milestone birthday. The way aging is so respected and even viewed as adding beauty and wisdom to a person, it was lovely and much needed. So thank you, Patricia!

From the moment I picked up Her Pretend Amish Beau, I was hooked!. This sweet Amish story focuses on Delia Swarey, widowed mother to four boys ranging in age from seventeen down to eleven. She and the boys run their flower farm.
Widower Elias Lehman is a former neighbor she hasn’t seen in nigh on twenty years. He and his thirteen-going-on-thirty daughter are home to help his parents move. When Violet comes to work on her farm for a bit, Delia and Elias get reacquainted and realize they each could use the other’s help regarding their children’s closed hearts. A plan for a fake courtship is hatched. Neither Delia nor Elias is ready for a new relationship yet, so no feelings will take root and sprout between them…or could they? With “Gott” directing their paths, anything is possible!
I just loved this charming story of a second chance at love for Delia and Elias. Author Patricia Johns clears the weeds from both families’ hearts, giving space for new love, understanding, and acceptance to grow. Plus this book has my favorite, an epilogue!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own

HER PRETEND AMISH BEAU by Patricia Johns is the fifth book in the Amish Country Matches series. It’s the fabulous story of how two Amish parents, a widow and a widower, decide to work together for the betterment of their kinder and in the process maybe each finding more than they had bargained for.

Delia Swarey is the single parent of four boys, ages from 11 to 17. Their source of income is from the Swarey Flower Farm where they grow flowers for the commercial market. It’s hard work but it meets their needs. It also strengthens the family bond by working together. The boys though, out of goodness of heart, have taken it upon themselves to protect their mamm. This means scaring off prospective suitors who might end up breaking their mamm’s heart. It’s a situation that Delia knows she’s going to have to change. To do so, she’s got to remind them that she is the parent and they are the kinder. While she loved her husband dearly, he’s been gone for a few years. She is finding herself lonely and desiring companionship. It would also be nice have an adult to turn to in help with decision making or to have someone to cook for. Can she convey that to her boys?

Elias Lehman, an old school mate and three years older than Delia, has came back to his hometown to help is mamm and daed prepare for their move to his sister’s where they will soon live in the dawdy haus. His other sister and family will be moving into he’s childhood home. With his daed not wanting to leave a long list of things to be fixed, Elias has been splitting his time with repairs on the place and helping them prepare to move. He now finds himself a single parent to a teenager that has her mind set on going Englisch thinking it’s more romantic and heartfelt than the Amish way of life. Determined to show her that romance and all her notions of the Englisch world can be found in the Amish way, he suggests to Delia that they pretend to be courting to show all their kinder how it’s done and how it might be done. Later they can announce that after talking and spending time together that they both decide that they won’t make a perfect match. It could give them time to get the boys adjusted to her mamm being courted and also show Violet that want she wants in the Englisch world can also be found within her own community.

Will Delia’s boys buck at the idea of a suitor for their mamm? What will it take to open their eyes that their mamm is not trying to replace their daed, but she needs adult companionship? Can Elias win them over with respect and honesty? Can Elias prove to Violet that the Amish way of life is more than dull and dab? As he told her, “There’s value in a good reputation and the ability to work hard. All those fluttery feelings are as permanent as butterflies. What remains is what lasts.” Can he show her that all the wonder and romance she thinks exists in the Englisch world isn’t a true picture of their life before it’s too late?

HER PRETEND AMISH BEAU is the wonderful story of adults having to deal with children’s perception of life, dealing with everyday life of working in order to put food on the table and supply the needs of a family, and also allowing the heart to dream of more – companionship, a life partner to share life’s burdens and maybe even some romance.

Can a pretend courtship help solve many problems? How will it affect the children’s lives? Is it wrong to dream it isn’t a pretend situation? Patricia Johns gives us an amazing story that has our hearts feeling the lose of the past, the anxiety of the present and the hope of a future. HER PRETEND AMISH BEAU is a story of loss, teenager years of thinking the grass is greener on the other side and so enticing, children that must be reminded of who the parent is and that children must take their direction from them, trying to make matters better – even if it does mean some misleading at times, and realizing that old feelings are still there even after all those years that have passed. HER PRETEND AMISH BEAU is a fabulous FIVE STAR story that you will read in one sitting because it will be impossible to put down. Although part of a series, it can most definitely be read as a standalone book.

I receive a copy of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

Patricia Johns has given us another quick moving adventure that you do not want to put down. Her Pretend Amish Beau is the perfect story. I love that the main character are a little order and are parents.

Delia Swarey Is a widow and she and her four boys run a flower farm. Needless to say, she is a very busy lady and sometimes certain chores fall behind. Elias Lehman Is a Widower and father to a teenage girl. Elias is helping his parents, who live next to Delia, move into a new home with their daughter. Meanwhile, Elias’ daughter seeks employment from Delia.

These characters are so realistic, that you are quickly drawn into their story. Love the kids. The plot of the story is brought to life quickly and moves seamlessly through the realistic storyline.

You keep cheering for Delia and Elias as they share their parenting journey and try not to act upon feelings developing as they encourage each other.

This is truly a 5-star must read.

I was chosen for the launch team and was given and ARC for review. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is book number five in the Amish Country Matches series but can be read as a stand alone book.

This is the story of Delia Swarey and Elias Lehman.

Delia is a widow who has four boys ranging in the age of seventeen to eleven and they run a flower farm. Elias’ parents live next door to Delia and he is a widower with a teenage daughter who comes to help his parents to move. Elias’ daughter Violet comes to work on the flower farm while she is in the area. Elias and Delia had been schoolmates so they come up with an idea to fake a courtship to show all their children that’s it’s okay to have another relationship when a spouse passes on, so they have someone to share their life with after all the children leave home.

Over the weeks they start falling in love with each other and all their children have opened their hearts up to having a step parent.

Grab a copy of this book, I don’t think you will be disappointed. Keep up the great work Patricia.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. The review expressed here is my honest opinion.

Her pretend Amish Beau is Patricia Johns' fifth book in the Amish Country Matches series put out by Harlequin in the Love Inspired line. Delia Swarey is a widowed flower farmer with four boys. Elias Lehman was Delia's schoolmate and is a widower and father to Violet. When Elias comes back to his home of origin to help his parents pack up and move, his and Delia's friendship is renewed. But when they decide to pretend to court each other to teach their children to have an open mind about the possibility of having a step-parent, will their plan backfire?

This is the first book I've read that involved flower farming, so that was an interesting aspect of the story to me. I've read a number of Patricia's other books, and this is definitely one of my favorites! If you like a good Amish romance novel, this is the book for you. Release date is July 23.

The author provided an advanced e-pub of this book to me. All opinions expressed herein are strictly my own.

Patricia Johns’ Amish romances have quickly become my go to whenever I am looking for a sweet and uplifting story. 𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗛 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗨 was one such book.

Elias and Delia both widowed and raising their children alone. Facing those challenges head on is easy in comparison to the loneliness they both felt after having loved and lost their spouses. I admired how strong they both were and how much their family and faith guided them. Their desire to find fulfilment without causing their children harm was admirable as was the plan they hatched to do it. Their good intentions were no match for the love they felt in their hearts and that love, for each other and each other’s children was beautiful.

I read 𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗛 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗨 in one sitting and it left me with a warm and happy heart. I’m giving it the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!

Her Pretend Amish Beau by Patricia Johns is book 5 of the "Amish Country Matches" series. This is a great stand alone book, but even better when you read the series in order. Delia Swarey of Swarey Flower Farm lives in Redemption. A widow with 4 boys, she is putting her life back together for the sake of herself and her children. Elias and his daughter Violet Lehman are in the same situation. Delia and Elias pretend to be courting so they can try to counsel each others children on new beginnings, dating and dealing with loss. However, the children have their own ideas on taking on a new stepfather or stepmother as well as just being kids in a hurry to grow up. It's a book that we can all relate to when raising kids in difficult situations. It was a very enjoyable book, the characters were dealing with real life situations with a few plot turns, which made it exceptionally nice.

Love Amish Fiction?
Love Second Chances?

Delia Swarey, an Amish widow, mother of four teenage boys, running a flower farm has no time for romance. Delia’s neighbor’s widower son Elias Lehman, is home visiting with his parents. Elias has a thirteen year old rebellious daughter. Delia reconnects with Elias after many years of not seeing each other. They decide to pretend that they are courting because each of their children’s views on them remarrying someone was causing suitors to back off once they tried to call.
Once they told the children that they were only pretending, they realized that there really might be future together. Can they get the children’s s approval or will this be the end of their “courtship”?

Her pretend Amish Beau by Patricia Johns. This is a fairly new author to me but probably won't be the last. This book is about Delia and Elias who are both widowed.
Delia ownes and runs a flower farm with her 4 sons and Elias comes back to the area to help his parents move into a new place. He has a daugher and Delia's 4 sons
are all against there parents dating so the parents decided to have a pretend courtship. Pick up your copy of this book to see if it stays a pretend courtship or
if it turns into something real.

“Gott put the lonely in families – that’s what the Good Book said.”
As parents, we will do anything for our children. Even if it means putting aside our own desires and happiness to give them what they need. But what starts out for Elias and Delia as a way to teach their children a lesson backfires on them in the best possible way. Patricia Johns’ talent as a writer shines through in this captivating, descriptive story that turns the tables on two widowed parents who are the ones that really need to learn a lesson about love and the meaning of family. Her best yet – highly recommend!

Loved It!

This is such a wonderful story! I loved Delia and Elias's story! I especially loved that they've known each other since childhood. This, along with their connections through their losses and parenting issues, added much depth to their "fake" courtship. Although Delia's boys and Elias's daughter got on my nerves a time or two, they also had me smiling and laughing more than once, making the story even more enjoyable. Delia and Elias's discoveries about themselves, each other, and their children were beautifully woven into their story resulting in a beautiful and endearing story that I greatly enjoyed.

This is book 5 in the Amish Country Matches series. Such a cute, well written story that you will not want to pass up. Follow along as the characters Delia and Elias, a widow and widower, pretend to court each other to show their overprotective children that adults can be friends and nothing more. The key word is pretend because the storyline takes a twist that the characters were not expecting. A clean, Amish romance that keeps you captivated until the end. I was given a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All words are my own.

I loved this one from Patricia, book five in her Amish Country Matches series. This story had so many relatable moments and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Thank you to the author for sharing this wonderful story with me early!

I enjoyed this Amish book. It's a light read.

Delia Swarey is a widow with four sons and a flower farm. She has little time for other things. Enter Widowed dad Elias Lehman and his daughter, Violet. Delia hires Violet to work on the flower farm while they are in town. Delia and Elias decide to pretend to court to show their children that there is romance in the Amish life and how to accept a new member of the family. Will it work or will it backfire?

I really loved this book about fake courting. Delia Swarey has four sons and a flower farm to run and little time for courtship. Her four sons are overprotective and reject suitors. Elias Lehman is in the same boat with his teen daughter. They hope that pretending to court each other will teach their children about opening their hearts.

Loved this fun book by Patricia Johns! Delia and Elias are widows and knew each other from when they were younger. Delia has 4 boys who don’t want their mom courting anyone. Elias has a teenage daughter with some emotional needs after losing her mom. Delia and Elias pretend to court to try to teach their children. This was such a fun inspirational book to read!

I enjoyed Delia and Elias falling in love with each other, when all they meant to do was to show their children how two adults could go on dates and remain friends. It's not easy to do. Love almost always happens. Joke was on them. 😆

"The courtship had been fake, but if had started to feel awfully real to her. She never should have let that happen."

This is a great book! Delia and Elias have both lost their first spouses to death, and are both in the predicament of wanting to marry again but knowing that their children would not support a second marriage. Even though they aren't interested romantically in each other, they decide to "fake court" so that their kids can get used to the idea of a second marriage. Sprinkled in are some themes of child rebellion, aging parents, and step parents. Its a quick read with a fantastic storyline!

I would categorize this as a sweet Amish romance, appropriate for teenagers and older who want a clean romantic story. Thank you to the author and the publisher for the Advance e-Copy. A review was not required.
