This book was triggering for me. The poor child stealing, biting, hording food, and nobody put the child in counseling. The adults fighting, was not a good read for me at all.

I was immediately pulled in by the gorgeous cover. It sparked my imagination: who is this little girl? Why is she alone?
When I discovered it was set in Alaska, I was sold!
When I read that it was written by an Alaskan (now living in NC), I knew I’d made a great selection.
Heidi McCahan’s new series, Opportunity Alaska, promises to be an uplifting, sweet romance set in small-town Alaska.

HER ALASKAN FAMILY is not the first book I’ve ever read by Heidi McCahan. I loved everything about this beautiful story and I’m sad that it is over. Heidi grabbed my heart from the very first page. She has a way of grabbing her readers and she never lets us go. Will Savannah find her happily ever after? Will she stay or will she go? You are going to have to read HER ALASKAN FAMILY to find out.
HER ALASKAN FAMILY shows Savannah moving back to Opportunity, Alaska after a horrible incident resulting in her losing her job, and relationship. Savannah is wondering if she’ll be seeing her high school crush, Jasper Carter. She arrives just in time for her ten year reunion, and to find out her childhood crush is newly engaged! Levi Carter, Jasper’s twin, is busy not only working with his father at the family store, but also with the 4 year old girl he is fostering.
HER ALASKAN FAMILY is filled with twists and turns and had me staying up way too late one night to finish! I had to know where Heidi McCahan was taking us and what would happen to Landon and Kelsey. I really loved how the whole community came to Savannah’s aid and only wanted her to feel loved and welcomed! The same goes for Levi. There is so much heart in Heidi’s writing that I was left with a huge smile on my face and my heart very happy. The very real situations that come up in this book could be taken right out of the newspapers today. I could totally see HER ALASKAN FAMILY becoming a television series and I would love to watch it. All of the characters are very interesting and believable, so much so that I felt as if I’ve known them for a long time.

This is a Small Town Romance, and this is the first book in the Opportunity Alaska series. I loved getting to know all the characters in this book. I was pulled into the story, and I really loved the little girl in this book. This was a great read and it was so much fun to read. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

What an engrossing novel! I simply couldn’t put this one down and ended up reading it in one day. This fake dating story had quite a few awkward moments between the two main characters as both of them wrestled with the possibility that their feelings for each other were turning into more.
Levi’s foster daughter had so many struggles and challenges throughout the story. It was hard to see her acting out as she tried to process all of the changes around her. The way Levi and Savannah worked to be there for her, help her, and guide her in kind and loving ways spoke of the hearts of these two.
Savannah and Levi had a lot to deal with in this story, from unkind former classmates, certain family members who were not very supportive of Levi’s decision to foster, a little girl acting out, and even something from Savannah’s recent past that she was scared would become public knowledge. The author created not only troublesome tension in the story, but very believable romantic tension, as well. This book is the start of a new series and I look forward to reading more books set in this Alaskan community.

What a sweet redemptive romance. I loved being part of the drama in this story. From the twins, Levi and Jasper, who were working in the family business, to the know it all school mate, Candace, who made life miserable for everyone in her path and to the main character Savannah (Savvy) who had to overcome the issue of a tragedy almost ruining her career. I loved the peaceful setting of Alaska.

Moving home to Opportunity, Alaska, had never been on her radar, much less returning at twenty-eight, unemployed and desperate for even her old bedroom. Okay, this is TEN stars, I know it's not a thing but, it should be! The fake relationship, single dad, sweet foster child, secrets, and shoot the "fake kisses." This story had me literally IN TEARS. Heidi has written an amazing story, I can not wait for it to hit shelves!
Savannah moves back to Opportunity, Alaska after a horrible incident resulting in her losing her job, and relationship. She arrives just in time for her 10-year reunion, and to find out her childhood crush is newly engaged! At the same time that she is fleeing from her past, in hopes at getting a fresh start she runs in to her crush's twin brother, Levi. Levi is fresh from a broken engagement and now is the emergency placement for an adorable foster child Wren. But he is out of his league, and can not manage work, and his temporary foster daughter. Add in a reunion and running into his exfiancee for all the events and Levi comes up with the brilliant idea of hiring Savannah. Not just for Wren's babysitter, and to help with his company's float in the upcoming parade... but most importantly, his fake girlfriend for all the reunion festivities. Sounds like a good exchange! Savannah gets a good paying job, she is back working with children, she can use her art degree for the float, and she can appear to have a blossoming relationship. Except... the jobs are temporary, and the relationship is fake. And worst of all Savannah has a secret that if anyone founds out everything she has, temporary or not...will be stripped away! And let me just remind you that every school has a "mean girl", so what happens when the mean girl catches wind of Savannah's secret?!!!

Savannah/Savvy Morgan left her hometown
and was an art teacher in Colorado when the unthinkable happened. She lost her job, her boyfriend and her self esteem. She’s back home unsure what her future holds though she hopes to apply for the art teacher opening in her alma mater. Meanwhile, she’s also dreading the HS reunion. Especially because the woman in charge was her HS nemesis.
Savvy is also wondering if she’ll be seeing her HS crush, Jasper Carter.
Levi Carter, Jasper’s twin, is busy not only working with his father at the family store, but also with the 4 year old girl he is fostering. A child whose short life has been filled with hurt and trauma. To create more stress in his life, he’s not looking forward to the HSreunion because of his break up. When Savvy arrives in town, they decide to fake a relationship and go together. Of course, from that point on, nothing goes as they had expected.
The plot was engaging. Especially, as we spend time with these two. Their insecurities, trust issues, fake relation, and secretly developing feelings, keep the readers interest from beginning to the end.
It was also a touching story about fostering a child , especially one that has been traumatized in her short life.
Looking forward to more stories in this new series. Will one of Savvy’s sister be next?

This book is everything I love about Love Inspired books. This book is based in Alaska and has the "fake romance" trope along with an adorable but troubled foster daughter in the mix. There are a ton of different family dynamics and a high school reunion filled with all the drama you'd expect from a reunion. Mix in some white water rafting, a baseball game, parade float competition and a woman who needs to find a job and you have a whole lot of storyline packed into a quick read.
I loved the romance aspect, Christian faith storyline, two people coming together to help a 4 year old girl in foster care that has seen too much and setting in Alaska. It's realistic with some bumps along the way to the happily ever after. If you like sweet, Christian romances this one is for you.

Loved It
Savannah Morgan returns home to escape her past, but another part of her past is looming in the form of her ten-year high school reunion. Levi Carter is trying to move forward from a breakup while temporarily fostering a daughter and dreading his high school reunion. When Savannah and Levi make an agreement that requires them to spend much time together, things become a little complicated, and that's where the story truly takes off. The result is a lovely story of romance and faith. And while it does deal with a few sensitive topics, the author wonderfully blended them in and dealt with them flawlessly. It is well worth the read.

This one brought tears to my eyes several times, and I laughed at the sweet words spoken. When teacher Savannah Morgan moves back to her hometown, she hopes to start her life over, and maybe even reconnect with her high school crush. But when she is offered a temporary job taking care of 4 year old Wren for Levi, who has recently found himself single, and with a young girl that was placed in his care as a foster parent who quickly realized, he is in over his head. Also, he asks for another favor, pretend to be his boyfriend. Did I mention that Levi is the twin brother of her high school crush. Things could go either way, as long as the real reason she came home can remain her secret. This book is such a great example of love, family, believing and hope

Fake dating causes awkward moments and a town trouble maker makes it worse. I appreciate that single dad Levi is willing to be a foster parent; good homes are so needed. But can he and Savannah help a hurt little girl to heal? Or are they making things worse? Can Savannah overcome the horrible rumors that are being spread about her? Read Her Alaskan Family to find out!

I read an advanced reader’s copy of this novel thanks to the publisher, Netgalley and the author Heidi McCahan. This is he first novel in the Alaskan Opportunity series. This novel was such a cute and inspiring read. I connected with several of the characters and adored the little girl in this novel. I felt that the chemistry and passion between the FMC and MMC was so sweet. I highly recommend this read when it releases on July 23, 2024.

I have loved this author's work before so I was happy to start this new series by her, set in Opportunity, Alaska. It's the story of Levi's struggle with his foster daughter, Wren, and how he and Savannah fall for one another once they team up to provide care for Wren. Savvy has some secrets from her past with some associated shame. It's a surprisingly meaty story, but never felt too heavy. I loved the setting and the community around these characters.

I loved Her Alaskan Family. It was definitely a fast paced story, but being a Love Inspired book, that is to be expected! I loved getting to know Savannah & Levi. Their Reunion story, as well as Levi's of being a foster parent, were so sweet. I was excited to see that Heidi McCahan would have a novel coming out in 2025.

The synopsis promises "uplifting" and delivered in many ways. The two main characters put aside their own problems to help this little girl find her place in a family. Heidi McCahan spent the time and effort to make the Alaskan community true to life and develop the characters into people readers could care about. An emotional and entertaining story that sends the series off to a good start.

first physical ARC. I really enjoyed the characters and how much they changed from the beginning to the end with their baggage that they each had. I also liked the second chance and the grief. I also love a fake dating trope, it's one of my favorites.

Another amazing book by Ms. McCahan! Levi and Savannah’s story is filled with family, friends, fostering, adoption, second chances. All these things entwine to engage all of your emotions. A book you won’t put down!

Her Alaskan Family is the first book I've read by author Heidi McCahan. I loved the characters, the plot, and the way the story flowed. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
