A rollercoaster of emotions!
I thought I was going to hate Charlie because of the way she acted so spoiled and self-centered at the beginning but fell in love with her shortly afterwards with her and Isla's antics.
I instantly liked Logan though. He just did not take any of Charlie's shizm. He just took charge but you could tell he loved her.
The humor had me rolling at times. I love when authors can make us laugh even during dark times. My favorite was the booby dagger.
I also fell in love and hate with the other characters in this story. I find myself wishing for a spinoff.
I highly recommend this series .

To be honest, I really didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did. I got this as an audio book as I was going on a long journey and I liked that it was 4 books in one and that it would keep me entertained on the journey. I honestly thought it would be a good listen but a book I would forget about once I had finished it. Nope. I really enjoyed it.
It is definitely a series that gets better with each book, from the first one, I was intrigued but would happily stop the audio and do other stuff. But really from the end of the second book, I couldn’t stop listening!
Charlie is a great character and I loved hearing how she changed and really became her true self. It was fantastic. Definitely became my favourite character. Also, you can’t help but fall in love with Logan.
The romance was beautiful and breathtaking but it wasn’t just romance that was great. The politics really added to the drama and also loved how these young adults navigated their choices within the tight confines of royalty.
I thought that there was some really beautiful moments of writing that really stood out. Mainly about love, family and responsibilities. Kinda wished I did have this on kindle so I could have highlighted my favourite parts.
The only part that confused me was this being labelled as ‘fantasy’, the fantasy element doesn’t appear until book 3 and the mention of fae seemed unnecessary. Maybe it will be built upon in another series within this world… no idea, but honestly the book wouldn’t have been any different if it hadn’t been included.
I will definitely be getting the next series that is set in this world.

I started reading The Lochlann Treaty: Complete Series last week of October of the year. Having read Scarlet Princess and Tarnished Crown by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison , I did have quite high expectations, (as always), and I wasn't disappointed.

Plus some bonus chapters from Logan's POV in omnibus edition!!!
Who is it About?
The story revolves around three main characters:
Charlie, Princess Charlotte of H'ria
Oli, Prince Oliver of Luan
Logan, Bastard Prince of Luan
What's happening?
Charlie and Oliver have been in love since childhood and are now getting married. However, on the wedding day, Oliver disappears. Maybe he is kidnapped. By who? Probably the rebels. What is at stake? The peace of both H'ria and Luan, and thence entirety of Lochlann. Why? Because there have been feuds between the two and among everyone in Lochlann. To resolve it, they created a treaty which says, that there'll be peace as long as there's a marriage alliance between H'rian Princess and Luanian Prince. Hence, The Lochlann Treaty .
So, what happens?

The Lochlann Treaty is about how Princess Charlotte, aka, Charlie finds out about the reason behind the disappearance of her fiancé and husband-to-be, Prince Oliver aka Oli, with the help of Logan, Captain of the Guard of Luan, older brother of Oliver and former Best Friend of Charlie.
Winter's Captive
With the help of Logan, her brother - Finn, her best friend - Isla, who is Logan and Oliver's cousin, and her handmaiden - Clara, Charlie goes on a journey to find out what happened to Oliver. Now this journey is what the first book, Winter's Captive covers. It has a huge cliffhanger at the end, except the authors have been kind enough to wrap all four books in this one! I've no opinion for either Logan or Oliver just yet. Oliver is sweet but then did he really help her grow as a person or is it just hearts and flowers for them? Logan is not helping her out willingly at least and we don't know about relevant childhood memories just yet to see if he's actually goodie or not. On to the next book!
Spring's Rising
Spring's Rising has the biggest cliffhanger of the series! I was literally screaming, (internally 'cause it was past midnight). I want to scream spoilers but Oh, My Goodness! The cliffhanger here would have killed me more if it weren't for the next chapter right on the next page!! Stillllll… This is so excellently written, authors, hands down, I couldn't predict a single thing about what happens next. Two more books to go and I hoped that answers every single question I have had that time! And Oh it certainly did!
Summer's Rebellion
Summer's Rebellion is a whole damned blast. Like the freaking cliffhanger here is THE MOST DISTURBING. I mean sure, I know, know how this kinda things progress in books, but oh, oh, I still was biting my nails offffffff! I FRIGGING COULDN'T WAIT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO OLIVER!!! I like him even though second to Logan. (Opinion subjected to change at the end of the series). I was so scared, "My poor boy shouldn't go bad." And I wanted to dive into the next book right in but... Last book, last ride… Ah, goodbye is near and I was so damn hesitating to even start. I was legit feeling like I was going in for the final battle. And so I did.
Autumn's Reign
Autumn's reign was so heartbreaking. Like I'm not even gonna tell you if it has a happy ending or not, because I certainly was in tears throughout the book, and that is saying a lot because I don't cry easily over books. Everything is at stake here. Everything we've been through so far, all comes to an end, but to what end? All of it, it could have been drastic but Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison are marvellous writers and they penned down every single thing with so much care and attention. They have done a great job, applaud!
The Bastard King (Bonus Chapters)
There wasn't a lot bonusy about the bonus chapters, mostly because I could basically predict how Logan was feeling and what he was thinking at every instance of the story. That's a very good thing according to me as that says a lot about authors' writing skills because I just like to know all characters even without Multi-POVs. I don't think there was really a need for the Bonus chapters, but I certainly did enjoy them nevertheless.
Regardless of that, I'd strongly suggest you get the omnibus edition with all four books in it, it's so damn worth it, plus I happen to like the cover of this edition more than the individual covers. Plus well, the bonus is still a bonus, hehe.
What I liked?
The first thing I liked about The Lochlann Treaty was that it was not all romance. The politics and adventure in this were strong. It was gripping and I thoroughly gripped it throughout! There were many beautiful elements in the book, sub-storylines, which could potentially become great spin-offs. Primarily, I'd love to know the story of Fia and the Fae. The authors did mention a story about her, but it has yet to come.
Another thing that I loved is that it doesn't have a love triangle. I mean, yeah, there's Oliver and then there's Logan, but it's not a kill one, choose one kinda triangle here and that's refreshing. There are enough heartbreaking elements in the story to add this clichéd one as well. So kudos, authors and readers!!
The best part of the series is that no matter how long, nothing feels repetitive and boring. There's always something new happening, and it's all flowing. It feels organized, yet not too predictive. The design and planning here are top-notch.
What I didn't like?
The first thing I didn't really like was the Fae element of the story. It seemed pretty unnecessary here. It wouldn't change a thing if they get rid of it really. Maybe they're gonna build upon it in future. Hope they do.
The second thing which I didn't really enjoy was the fact that there was nothing warrior queeny about Charlie (except maybe in end). She was a bit too reckless for it sometimes. Like in real life, some things have definitely ended worse if she had behaved like the pampered princess she is. Fia was so much more badass than Charlie. So yeah, despite the story as a whole being good, I didn't exactly vibe with the heroine.
Conclusion
The Lochlann Treaty was a good book and a great experience. I'd like to say one thing about any book in general and not just this specific and that is that when you sit to read a book, don't start and end by comparing it with other books. Drop the competitive feeling, for books as with your life. As like every human being, every book is different and hence treat it so. Enjoy it for what it is. And criticize it for what it is, not what it is not. This way, you'll be actually fulfilling the purpose books are made for and that's primarily, entertainment.
The last time I had this kind of feeling about a series was when I read The Infernal Devices. Now, of course, don't start comparing. These two are wholly different things, in different universes. But the feeling for me was similar. TID is still my favourite, the reason I mentioned it in my review of it here. But The Lochlann Treaty and its universe henceforth will also hold a special place in my heart.

““Charlie.” He breathed my name like a prayer. Like he was halfway to death and I was his salvation.” Seriously that reunion at the end? Crying
She was such a good fmc. She was strong, witty, and independent. But also she wasn’t annoying about it which I feel like can happen in books with strong fmc.
The romance was so good. They knew each other since their childhood and romances that start when they’re young are just so cute!! And the TENSION🤌🏻🤌🏻 Also THANK YOU for a clean romance!! The romance was so cute
The author had a wonderful way of describing things that felt so real. Why was I craving seasoned meat, potatoes, and roasted veggies the entire time I was reading these?
ALSO their wedding in the forest was just magical all I could imagine was Bella and Edward’s wedding in the forest with all the twinkly lights above🤌🏻
Ugh and also during the war when they all start yelling FOR LOCHLANN!! I feel like I was a part of them fighting for the treaty and why do I have this sense of pride for a land that doesn’t exist? Overall a good time. Loved the world. Loved the characters and the family dynamics and the friendships. All of Charlie’s friends were just my favorite people ever. Just lovely character development.

Fun and Adventurous
I enjoyed this series for the most part. I feel it was predictable in many ways, but there were some things that definitely surprised me!
I feel like the fluidity regarding the language and/or brogue could have been better. Sometimes it was there, sometimes it wasn't.
There's some hint to the face, a bit more in the final book. But not nearly enough to really make it worth even mentioning (though I think the sequel series draws on that more).
This is considered an enemies to lovers, but they really never were enemies. Maybe on each other's nerves, but they weren't out to get each other. So I don't like that classification of this book.
I enjoyed this series for the most part. I feel it was predictable in many ways, but there were some things that definitely surprised me!

WOW! This series is quite the adventure!
I really came to admire and respect our lead heroine, our Warrior Queen because she grew SO much in this series. The authors have immensely impressed and blown me away with the excellent writing and growth of these characters. Like I was HOOKED when reading!
As the series progressed, it increasingly became more in depth, pull-at-your-heartstrings kind of story. Autumn's Reign is like the peak of Charlie's overall journey.
It was stunning.
It was amazing.
It was everything I had hoped for.
Truly, I am blown away by the powerful ending of this series. It was everything I had wanted and needed.

Solid fantasy world of a opinionated princess and royals and commoners she interacts with while working to handle tensions between lands, including politics, battles, and treason--all while she internally battles coming of age (to power, to decision making, to leadership) and balancing love with duty (aka forced proximity, one bed, forbidden romance, one horse tropes) and facing growing realizations about her world that were hidden from her. I listened to the audio and thought the narrator did a great job at the Scottish-style brogues of some characters and polite British or American tones of others--easy to tell everyone apart.

Oh my gosh, there are no words to express how much I adore this entire series!!! It was just so good! It had every trope I love, and honestly, I can’t think of a single thing I didn’t enjoy. You must read this—it’s a total must-read! I absolutely loved it and will definitely be diving into Rowan’s series next!🙌🏻❤️

Ehhhh it was fine. I never truly felt invested in the characters. I was super into finding out what was truly happening with the politics but even then the conclusion fell flat.
Romance was really cute I’ll admit but the only character I liked in this whole thing was Logan. Charlie HONESTLY annoyed me to high heavens almost the entire time. Warrior queen that throws a tantrum with the CAPTAIN OF HER GUARD has to CAPTAIN HER GUARD? Pathetic and immature. I read the reviews hoping she’d get better but I truly saw very little growth. She did grow up in a sense, there were some great council moments and she learned to fight but she seemed childish through to the end. Taking five days to grieve holed up in her room refusing to see anyone or do anything when her country needed her guidance? How is that growth? I really wished they showed her strength there instead of having her reset back to her naive self pitying self.
Plot? It was fine. It really could have been more built out, the thieves were by far my favorite addition. The political intrigue is really what kept me reading and it was just dropped off at the end for the sake of the romance! I wanted to know more!! The merging of these two kingdoms was all the series talked about but when it came down to it there was nothing spoken about it except for the marriage? Bleh.
The fae aspect had practically no use for the entirety of the series - why not just leave it out at that point?

This series had a lot going for it.
⭐️Great plot with a steady pace that kept me invested.
⭐️Excellent characters that were flawed enough to be real, while not being annoying as a lot of characters in books tend to be these days. I genuinely cared about all of the characters. They all had significant roles that actually mattered and tied the overall story together with great relationships.

Without spoilers, the omnibus has bonus chapters that I adored!! And Charlie's story is incredible. She pushes herself physically, mentally, and emotionally while trying to do what's best for her kingdom, while following her heart.
You get all the feels. All of them! You get such memorable characters (Fia!!), and you get so much adventure along the way.

Great YA series!
Okay, so this is definitely a YA series, but it’s amazing! Probably one of the best character development that I’ve read! The FMC changes sooo much throughout the series, and it’s crazy at the end to think about who she was in the beginning.
I think the author did a great job with world building!
There are a few “fade-to-black” romance scenes in this, but very PG.
There’s a ton of action and strategy talk.
There’s a little “magic” fantasy in this, but it’s more of a historical romance.

If you are looking to start reading this series, I'd really recommend reading the omnibus instead of the individual books. Why? Because once you have this one, you can just keep on reading book after book, minimising the impact of the cliffhangers at the end of each book (plus getting to read a quick and funny note by the authors at the end of each book). Other advantages: Logan's bonus chapters. I always like these kind of chapters, getting to know what's going on in the head of one of the other main characters, and these were no exception. Now on to the individual reviews:
Winter's Captive: ⭐⭐⭐
After hearing so much good about this series (and Lochlann Feuds) I was really excited to start reading Winter's Captive. Overall the story was fine (the writing style was a bit different in comparison to their other books, but maybe it's because this was one of their first?), but I didn't really like Charlie... I can handle a broken heroine you need to put back together piece by piece, I can handle a fierce and bad ass one. But Charlie... she seems really complacent at the moment, and yes a bit stubborn too but mostly sad and full of guilt (not in a broken kind of way). But who knows what the next books will bring. Knowing a lot of Robin and Elle's other characters, I'll probably end up liking her as well 😉
As a non native English speaker, I had some trouble understand Logan and some of the locals. Nevertheless I get it why they speak that way, I absolutely love that accent on tv, just had to adjust myself a bit for reading and understanding it.
The storyline builds up nicely, you can definitely feel there is a lot more yet to come.
So although I didn't like Winter's Captive as much as some other books written by this amazing duo (like of Glass and Ashes, which I absolutely loved), I'm still curious about the other Lochlann Treaty books.
Spring's Rising: ⭐⭐⭐
Book 2 in the series, and just as I predicted, I started to like Charlie a lot more in this one than in the first one. There is a lot more character development going in here, although less is happening in the storyline itself in comparison to book one (hence the ⭐⭐⭐, would have been ⭐⭐⭐⭐ if the storyline itself developed at the same pace as in the first book too). Logan’s language use during Spring’s Rising turned a bit more “normal”, which made it easier to read on the one hand but on the other hand made it lose some of its charm as well. Because I have the complete series combined in one physical copy, I went back and forth between the main story and the chapters from Logan’s POV while reading. You could say this caused for a spoiler, but not one I didn’t see coming 😉 It was really nice to be able to get a look from his perspective too (he’s one of my favourite characters of this series). I still enjoyed the read, curious about the next one and how everything will turn out.
Summer's Rebellion: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Okay by now I'm really attached to the main characters 🤩 especially Charlie and Logan have won me over completely (even though I didn't like her in Winter's Captive). The intrigues are increasing, you just feel a lot is about to happen at any time now... And then... Cliffhanger, just like you've come to expect from these two authors 😁 So glad I could start Autnum's Reign immediately.
Autnum's Reign: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
What a rollercoaster! I was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time, hoping for everything to go well... Some things did, some didn't (concerning one character in specific, I was glad to discover te apology by the authors at the end of the book 😉). I'm really glad I got to know the wonderful characters featured in this entire series and am proud of who they have become. Autnum's Reign really is a worthy final installment in the Lochlann Treaty series. Also, I've been excited to proceed to the Lochlann Feuds series for some time now, but now I really feel ready to do so, to discover what will happen next.

I received this box set as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Now that that is out of the way, I want to talk about how much I LOVED this book series. I have never seen such a growth in a character as I did in Charlie aka Princess Charlotte. The book starts with her wedding, this had been arranged since before they were born in order to bring together the two countries on Luan and H’Ria who had been at war for years. It just so happens that she is marrying her best friend Oliver. The parents kept all of them together in order to make the transition as easy as possible and they wanted the two of them to know the one they would be marrying before that day came.
Before the wedding can begin however, Oliver disappears, his room ransacked and the flag of the rebellion army the Aramach on display for all to see. This causes Charlie to break, he was her best friend and the fact that her soon to be husband is in the arms of this deadly group causes panic to ensue. While her brother Finn and Oliver’s brother and Luan’s captain of the guard Logan head out to find him the girls, Isla and Charlie concoct their own plan. They follow the regiment sent to find Oliver disguising themselves as guards and is found by Charlie’s brother Finn, essentially ruining their plan to “blend in” rather badly might I add. The image the authors provided for how the girls looks in this ill-fitting armor was pretty darn funny and I kind of wish I could have seen it playing out before me.
When the boys are ready to leave the girls at an estate, after Finn is injured in an attack Logan heads off on his own saying he’d be better off by himself than travelling with a larger group that is sure to attract more attention. Charlie, however, decides to once again take matters into her own hands and follows Logan determined to be of some sort of help to find her betrothed instead of just sitting around and waiting. Instead of arguing with her, knowing how stubborn headed she can be, Logan relents and lets her tag along. Along the way they meet a ragtag group forest thieves with an enigmatic and fiery white haired woman, a loving couple who take them and teaches Charlie how to be her own self without counting on anyone else, and finally the leaders of the Aramach. One who burns with a darkness that isn’t safe and another that she just can’t quite get a grip on why he with the other.
I won’t spoil anymore but there’s an outcome that some of you may see coming but at the same time love it all the same. I got these books at the end of February and managed to finish all four of them by March 2 without a break. I couldn’t put them down and I loved watching Charlie grow from a little helpless princess to a warrior queen. I found myself urging her on every time something happened and the ending made my heart burst with joy. The only thing that I would really knock is the fact that there was a pretty significant secret that came out in the last book that I would have loved to learn more about instead of just the little bit that we got. Other than that though I highly recommend this series these authors know how to make you love in the most minor of characters. I’ve never had that happen before where they would write in these minor characters and you love them even more than the main ones. They broke my heart more than once with the loss of certain people and that’s how you can tell that these authors were passionate about this series it didn’t matter who they were they put all kinds of love into every part of a character so that you would love them almost as much as they did.

Not a fan of verbal abuse
I skipped a lot of the Hero’s communication because it was filled with justifications for verbal abuse and guilt trips the heroine doesn’t deserve, which he acknowledges with an offhand apology and then repeats continuously, while pretending (in his ignorance) that it matters less than physical abuse or pain. Real brain scans show that the human nervous system cannot and does not differentiate between emotional pain and physical pain. Your brain cannot tell the difference between whether you have lost a relationship or broken your arm, the exact same pain neurons are giving off the exact same signals. This means emotional/ verbal abuse does exactly the same longterm emotional damage as physical abuse, only it’s worse because it’s invisible and the perpetrator and witnesses can deny that the damage is taking place and then refuse to acknowledge that the victim needs treatment. Most therapeutic treatment involves an empathetic listener agreeing that the abuse is not acceptable and validating the reality of the victim, that they were damaged, so they can heal. This healing is denied when the victim’s reality is denied because someone pretends visible scars that get acknowledged with treatment are worse than invisible scars everyone refuses to acknowledge the severity of, thus constantly denying the victim any empathy or healing.
The H is nasty for no reason, for years, and admits it and the h falls for his guilt trips, apologizes, makes excuses for him, and eventually marries him. This is not a fun message, it isn’t romantic, and I didn’t enjoy this part at all. A marriage relationship typically fails in 5 years when even one spouse is constantly critical, contemptuous, ignores the other person, or is defensive instead of solving the problem with their partner. The romance is so bad I can’t suspend disbelief until about 80% of the way through the book. The H does grow, but never faces the true consequences for his abuse and remains dangerous. Either he respects the relationship that allows him to be familiar with the heroine or she should make him forfeit the relationship status and get same consequences she would give a regular guard for lying and being abusive about her behavior and pain should apply. Either he learns some anger management skills and doesn’t take out his emotional pain on someone who didn’t cause it or he isn’t mature enough to handle the responsibility of protecting anyone as a professional, because he can’t protect the innocent from himself. Verbal abuse that results in real pain for her should result in real consequences for him until he acknowledges that his verbal abuse is not okay, apologizes, and actually stops, which is shown by him intentionally changing his behavior to manage his anger without being abusive over the long term. Every time he reinitiates abuse, the relationship should stop and she should have complete space from him until he proves he can be trusted to not verbally and emotionally abuse others around him.
The rest of the book is okay.

To start, I just have to say that I truly loved this series! I was so excited to get the opportunity to read these books and they did not at all disappoint. I was so glad to have the full boxset on my hands when I did start reading them because the cliffhangers at the end of each book would have been so hard to deal with if I hadn't been able to start the next book immediately. It's definitely worth getting the entire collection to have it on hand.
The first book starts off with Charlie, a princess who hasn't seen or experienced much of the world. She sets out on an adventure to rescue her missing fiance, Prince Oliver, and grows so much through the things she experiences. I loved how much her character developed from a sheltered Princess to someone who can actually take care of herself through her experiences. She teams up with her friends, first Isla, and later Logan, Oliver's brother, and the interactions between all of these characters was definitely a major highlight of this, and all the other books.
The second book takes place mostly within the walls of a castle, but is no less interesting for all that she is no longer off adventuring. Politics come into play much more in this book and Charlie continues to grow, becoming the future Queen she is meant to be, one who cares about her people and their circumstances. Her world is turned upside down as she is forced to question what she thought she always wanted, and what she always believed of certain people which forces her to make some difficult decisions.
The third book had one of the best moments of the series with the wedding of the main couple, and I was so happy when it finally happened and how beautiful the whole thing was. So much happens in this book. Charlie is forced to deal with a lot of very difficult events, and there is so much drama that keeps the story engaging and hard to put down. I loved the fact that this book made my feelings for characters that previously came off as unlikable actually do an about face as suddenly they became empathetic and so much more forgivable. Charlie was able to mend her relationship with a certain character and it actually turned into a very sweet bond between them which I loved.
Finally, the last book. I have to say I'm so sad to see the end of this series as I enjoyed it so much. It was bittersweet to finally see how things turned out at the cost of having no more books to read in this series. Charlie finally achieved the mantle of Warrior Queen and it was so satisfying to see how far she came as a character. I am so happy with this book, and all together this series and highly recommend reading it.

This series is amazing. The plot, politics, twists and especially the characters were really great.
We start with the first book, Winter's Captive that shows Princess Charlotte or Charlie, being a sheltered princess without any firsthand experience with the struggles of her kingdom over the impending war and rebels doing an impulsive choice of chasing after the rebels in hopes to find her missing/kidnapped betrothed, Prince Oliver. She needs to work with Captain Logan, whom she claims to hate her and the feeling is mutual. In this book, Charlie gets to see firsthand the status of her people, their common struggles, and the ruthlessness of the rebels, Aramach.
It was a wonderful start. It gave us with characters who have grown so much in a good way, that is believable.
Spring's Rising, the second book, unlike the first book that felt more adventure, delved into the politics side of the series. Most of the setting is inside the Castle Cridhe. But I think it surpassed the first book, definitely. Here, you'll see Charlie's jumbled emotions as she tries to make sense of her life, relationships, and the reality of the measures she needs to do because of her crown and responsibility to the people of her kingdom. I won't spoil about the couple, but I really really love the confrontation scene under the willow tree. It made me teary-eyed. This book also had the first of the many twists/events that I didn't really see coming.
Summer's Rebellion had many emotional monologues/dialogues that hit me really close. The drama, politics, and tension were so stressful. I can feel the characters' sadness and longings. I can almost relate to Charlie's dilemma about her heart, the crown and her people. It was breaking. But this also had the main couple's wedding which is also swoon-worthy and I felt really happy about. This third book is an excellent set-up to the finale book.
Autumn's Reign, the finale, is hands down the most action-packed book in the series. It was the start of war, and the stakes are at their highest. Sacrifices and deaths were needed in order to win. This is also the book where we get to see the results of the character development going on since the start of the series. We get to finally see Charlie making her stand as the warrior queen, bravely fighting off rebels even with the odds. I was so anxious of the events for the other characters since I have really grown to love Logan, Finn, Isla, Oliver and almost every single one of Charlie's allies. The loose ends were tied up, and though I have questions at times, this still made for a satisfying ending to this amazing series.

These books are fairly small, the entire 4 books series is 732 pages, so each book is a quick read, but they didn’t feel as small as they are. The author did a nice job of packing a lot of detail and intensity into each book. I read the series in the box set, and at the end of each book, there is always a major cliffhanger and a funny note from the author about it. And because of those cliffhangers, I didn’t even take a breath before scrolling onto the next book. The story picks right back up and it just felt like one big book instead of four little ones to me.
The story is mostly from the perspective of Princess Charlotte (aka Charlie) of H’Ria. She was such a strong character, her resilience, loyalty, and sass made for such a great princess, and I loved seeing her character grow as the story progressed.
Charlie and Oliver have been promised to eachother since birth, and they have been friends for just as long. The Lochlann Treaty is a marriage alliance between the heirs of their two kingdoms, H’Ria and Luan (which has very Scottish vibes and I loved it).
But all of that falls apart when Oliver is kidnapped by rebels on the day of their wedding. Which I thought was a pretty intense start to the story. I was so curious to see how the story would unfold. I read the synopsis, so I knew Charlie would try to get Oliver back, it was just a question of how. How does a princess who has been pampered her whole life find the will power and courage to chase after ruthless rebels in order to save the man she loves?! I was hooked! And of course I had suspicions about who her true love interest would be over the course of all four books. Just know it is not a love triangle.
I was so happy with how this plot unfolded, I just devoured the pages. And I don’t want to spoil any of it for anyone, so I’d just recommend picking up the box set and clearing your next couple days so you can read it all. Because there’s no way you’ll stop at the end of those cliffhangers.

This is my 4-star review of The Lochlann Treaty series.
The story progressed quickly and I read it within a few days. I felt so bad for Charlie because of what Oliver did. I will say, when they reunited and had to proceed onward with their arranged marriage, I felt so conflicted about the interactions she was having with Oliver. As a reader, I was confused. He seemed to genuinely care about her....and it was hard to accept that he was in love with Jocelyn, since we didn't see any evidence of it. But also, since we experienced so many sweet memories Charlie had of Oliver, it was just gut wrenching...but also confusing when she had the "I love Logan" epiphany later on, because the majority of the memories concerning him were bad ones.
As I mentioned, the story moved quickly, but I also found myself unsure of the passage of time as certain events were happening. For example, when Oliver told Charlie that he'd ended things with Jocelyn right before he officially proposed to her (which I think was 6 months prior to the events of the first book), yet when they ran into Jocelyn and her dirty old husband, they implied that she'd had a miscarriage but they expected she'd be pregnant again soon, but then in the third book, she'd had Oliver's baby. I feel like I missed something....unless he lied to Charlie about when it ended, or resumed relations with Jocelyn when they returned to the castle.
The ending felt a bit rushed; Oliver's abdication was pretty underwhelming.
The inclusion of "Bastard King" was enjoyable. But the one event that I hoped we'd get insight into from Logan's POV was absent. Why did he go into Fia's cabin that night at the camp? Later on, Fia tells Charlie that nothing happened between them, even though Logan didn't necessarily dispute that they'd done something (when Charlie confronted him about it, his response: "[Fia] wasn't in any position she didn't want to be in", or something like that), soooo what did happen? Or did I once again miss something? I was just hoping the details of that interaction were going to come to light.
Bottom line, I really liked the story. I'm not normally a fan of YA novels, but this one held my interest. I'll probably pick up the spin-off.

The story was heartbreaking as Logan, Oliver and Charlie try to fulfill a peace treaty and lead the kingdom at the expense of their hearts. The secondary characters were really funny. The thieves in the forest and their ever-changing nicknames were super funny. The scenes with Charlie and her friend Isla trying to go to the bathroom while wearing armor was also hysterical.

The book does a good job of showing the horror and reality of war. The guilt Charlie feels as she has to lead her people in to war seems realistic. The addition of fae to the story seemed a bit odd. There was nothing else in the book that was fantasy. The story could have stood on its own without the addition of fae characters. I am giving this box set 4 stars.

3 1/2-4 stars for complete series. Review for series as a whole
Not exactly what I expected, but I enjoyed it as a whole. Listened to the sequel series about her daughter previously. From what I heard, this series was about a “warrior” princess. From the reviews, and what I saw of the MFC in the previous series, I assumed she would be a badass from the beginning. It was kind of what I was in the mood for, but not what I got. It was really a good story about her coming into herself, and becoming the bad ass everyone was waiting for. Writing was engaging with good characters and lots of action. Narrator was fantastic. I loved the end with a few previous chapter with Logan’s POV
The main—and pretty much only— thing that bothered was the arc of the romance. It was kind of “enemies to lovers” feel with childhood friends with a lot of animosity towards each other. She is engaged (happily) to his brother Ollie. Consequences from Ollie’s actions severely injure charlotte, and breaks her heart. Then all of a sudden she realizes she loved Ollie, but was in love with Logan. It just seemed so abrupt. She even asks Logan when he knew it was supposed to be them. He said something like he always knew. He never tried to fight for her. At that point they were both stupid in my book from a romance angle.
I did like how the author redeemed Ollie—I wasn’t expecting to feel respect for him like I did by the end of the series.

I’m always a little nervous to take ARCs for review because I am NOT one who loves to give criticism. I do it to support lesser-known authors who are trying to get their work out into the world, and I pray that the books I take will
be decent! Plus, it’s really fun to see what books are in the works.
These two authors deserve a lot of praise. I devoured all four books, and I was sad when it had to be over. I love the characters, flaws and all, and the growth they all experienced was amazing.
If I had to give a critique, I guess I never fully understood the point of the fantasy element that was brought in. It didn’t seem fully fleshed out or necessary. A character was introduced at one point and was never really explained, so I have no idea who he was supposed to be. I thought he was going to be someone important, and then I’m pretty sure he didn’t come back, besides being mentioned for a second...? I don’t even know. It’s a small detail, but something I thought about. I think the series could have scrapped the fantasy storyline (if you can really even call it that), and stick to the main conflicts, relationships, and politics of this engaging world.

This series was amazing! The best part about it was how much Princess Charlotte, or Charlie, changes from the beginning of the series to the end. In the beginning, she is very sheltered, and has no idea what it's like to want anything or to be hungry. She doesn't acknowledge the fact that she's naive and gullible, and won't think about the possibility that her fiancee ran away. As the series progresses, Charlie becomes more ruthless and strong. She even takes multiple lives, which she is horrified of at first, but then becomes more comfortable with. She even elopes! Character wise, she is very interesting because she develops so much.
Another character I liked was Logan. He was willing to put away his feelings for Charlie on account of her brother, which makes him pretty selfless. His character was also likable, because he is considered the bastard child of the king. However, we learn later in the series that he is in fact the true heir, and not his brother. He knows this as well, which adds to his unselfishness.
I also enjoyed the series from a writing standpoint. It was whimsical, while still being dark enough to be taken seriously. The only thing I didn't like was that sometimes Charlie's thought paragraphs were too long, and became boring. Other than that though, it was a wonderful series!

Winter's Captive by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison is the first in the series. I really enjoyed this story!! Charlie, the female MC is a great character and starts out like the typical sheltered princess. She is very headstrong and I liked reading along as she faced real life outside of the palace walls.
Spring's Rising, the 2nd in the Lochlann Treaty series picks right up where the Winter's Captive left off. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and this second book did not disappoint. Charlie is a great character, strong and free spirited. She really grows through this book and it's nice to see those strengths.
Summer Rebellion is Captivating, Amazing and Completely Addictive!! This series keeps getting better. Well written, the story pulls you right in and keeps you there. That ending!!!! I did not see that coming!!

Autumn's Reign is the 4th and final book in the Lochlan Treaty series. This one was bittersweet for me. I was dying to find out what happened with Charlie, Logan and Oli but so sad the series is over. I have really enjoyed each book so much. These are amazing audios. The narration is well done! Highly recommend this series and I'm looking forward to more from the authors!!

The series is really interesting I feel like there was a small plot hole in her being a warrior perse I kinda think it was a lil forced but she pulled through in the last book
And it was an enjoyable read all in all.

The proposal was absolutely swoon worthy the best of everything.
I feel like Jocelyn was the best supporting character when it came to the actual court and building respect so I really liked that character a lot even tho I feel like there were a lot of unanswered questions about her situation that were only speculated about but again it’s not her story; and the fae person who talked or was close with fia ??? Who is heeee? Did I miss something? He’s not rayan but he only came to plant the Easter egg of fae people and vanished or my reading comprehension is crap? so i dont know I feel like a lot was left up in the air about her mom, the fae, the dude that was with fia!, the dude head of the good revels what happened with him? (Sorry I’m so bad with names) maybe I’m nitpicking but whatever despite my questions it was a great read, I feel like her resolve was lacking a lot throughout the entire 4 books but nonetheless we all have our monsters that need some fighting.

I stumbled into this series after purchasing the full series for 1 credit on Audible, and I'm so glad I did. This series centers around Charlotte (Charlie), a princess who is about to enter into arranged marriage with Oliver, the prince of a neighboring kingdom, as part of a treaty to unite the two territories under one crown. When Oliver is kidnapped by rebels on the day of their wedding, Charlie goes off on a mission with his brother, Logan, to rescue him.
I treasure this series. I actually fell in love with the first book within the first 30 pages. The dynamic between the FMC and her her best friend had me cracking up, even before the story actually took off. I want to be clear that these books are not super steamy romance novels. Rather, if you continue throughout the whole series you are treated to a story of politics, duty, and true (but hard-fought) love. When it was over I cried real tears because I was so happy for the main characters.
I read this series first, though I know many people start out with Rowan. I personally liked reading this one first because I like not being spoiled about who ends up with who in the next generation. I also highly recommend the Audible version because the narrator is fantastic.

I'm going to be perfectly honest with everyone here — I loved this entire series, read it in several days, and I cannot figure out why. Maybe it was the banter? Maybe it was the questionably and unnecessarily angst-ridden love interest? Maybe it was the equally questionable plot points that were seemingly shoehorned into the story? Maybe, perhaps, it was even the sword fighting. I am not immune to a good sword fight. I don't know what it was (it was at least partially Logan being the one to starting calling her Charlie instead of Charlotte) but I could not seem to stop reading these books and I was even willing to overlook the not one, but TWO instances of sex immediately leading to pregnancy. And even the absurd number of times Logan also referred to Charlotte as WOMAN. Or! Or! Even writing Logan's accent into his dialogue because he was inexplicably Scottish and used Gaelic endearments????
You ever read a book that you know is, just, like—semi mindless and you don't have to think too much, but you're still pretty goddamn entertained? That's what this was. Where calling something semi mindless is not the insult it sounds like.

I Loved it!!! Im not good at reviews because im not good with words- but the authors are good with theirs in this series!! Finally a happy wonderful perfect ending without bringing me to tears because someone you loved in the book dies, like alot of books ive read. And finally a book where the couple gets married before they have sex! And i especially love they way you are drawn to all the main young characters. Finn and Isla were adorable from start to finish, Oliver even though had a rough start he really is such a good guy and i just loved him for who he was and that he had his happy ending with his girl and son! Fia was always a surprise for me but always a good surprise. And then Logan and Charlie....the emotional rollercoaster. I was so aggravated with them sometimes but most of the time just sitting there going awwwww!!! I think they are my favorite fictional couple! And my favorite part of the series is when he takes her to his home town and the wedding in the thieves forest. I wish this was a movie with every detail from the book i could watch over and over again lol
