I'm so glad this author is making a comeback, I've missed her writing!! When I saw this doing the rounds, even though I didn't really enjoy the first book in this series I couldn't wait to get my hands on this..

So this jumps back in the past.. The night when she goes to surprise her boyfriend, she got a surprise instead when she sees him in an uncompromising position with some other girl in his bedroom. Even though they were slowly drifting away this was the out she needed. It's also the same night when Holden steps in, whisks her away, and they have a little moment where things could've heated up if they weren't interrupted.
To now..
The push and pull between these two was angsty as ever, they were perfect for each other, she was the ice queen until him, he started melting her little heart, the chemistry with these two was off the charts HOT!! He started creeping into my heart from the get go, and I'm so glad her walls came tumbling down and he was there to catch her.
Once I started this I couldn't put it down!! Enjoyed this so much more than the first book!!

It has been a loooooong while since Charleigh Rose released a book (around three years!) so you can imagine my excitement when she announced the release date of the second book in this series. We all have been waiting impatiently for this story. Valen and Holden are finally here, and I was so ready to dive into their love story as soon as it hit my Kindle library. Get ready to go back to Heartbreak Hill and fall in love with this new couple!
Break Your Little Heart is the second installment in the Heartbreak Hill series and, as I said, it tells the story of Holden Ames and Valentina ‘Valen’ Solorio. Valen has just broken up with her cheating boyfriend and Holden has wanted her for a long time. They agree to just one night, it’s supposed to end after that but neither expected to want more. A year passes, and their attraction to one another is strong as ever. It’s impossible to ignore it, one night turns into so many more and these two broken people start healing each other while falling in love. Will the obstacles break their new relationship or will love win?
For what it’s worth, reality was better than the fantasy.
I am more than happy to say Charleigh Rose is back with a wonderful continuation to this series! I am so not disappointed with how the love story between Valen and Holden turned up to be. The chemistry between these two is palpable from the very first page and their scenes sure burn the pages. It was so steamy and also so beautiful to read how two broken hearts heal together after being unable to fight their feelings for each other. I am so glad Valen and Holden finally got their happy ending and I am sure Charleigh’s fans will love every single page.

Yes, I do have to say the ending felt a bit rushed and I hoped the epilogue would be a little bit longer but overall, I really enjoyed the journey of this couple towards their happy ending. did i finish this arc in less than a day?
yes, i did. once i picked it up, i couldn’t put it down!
Holden and Valen were just EVERYTHINGGGGGGG.
trying to keep this as spoiler free as possible, but Holden was so freaking swoon worthy and no one deserved it more than Valen.
it’s been a long time since i’ve read Thayer and Shayne’s book but everything was explained in a way that i understood what happened in the last book and i wasn’t lost and i appreciate that because i don’t remember anything from it 🫣
so everything else about the book amazing, HOWEVER... i do have some hang ups that are 1000% a me problem and honestly has nothing to do with the plot of the book, i just don’t like reading it.
and i’m going to put a little spoiler disclaimer here just in case ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
holden is a player and they had a little…..moment and then things went down and they avoided each other for a year. in that year she sees him “entertain any girl with a pulse.” 🫠 and then when she moves into her dorm with shayne a year later, holden lives across the hall and she sees him late nights with “one or two girls on his arm” and that bothered me SO MUCH. he’s been with half of the girls on her cheer team!!!!!!! i think because they literally use a condom like half of a time because he went in raw, put a condom on to finish, and then every single time after that they didn’t use protection and only asked if she was on birth control…… LIKE HE WAS ALWAYS WITH OW AND YOU ARENT GOING TO ASK IF HE WAS CLEAN. and there was never a mention for the last time he did the sexy dance with anyone sooooo idk why she was so trusting with that 😂 but that is a ME thing because in his pov he is only 1000000% obsessed with valen and wants everything with her and she is the hesitant one because she doesn’t do feelings, but she also has never had an orgasm since him or been eaten out and i disliked that so much 😂😂😂😂😂

i really liked this book and it would have been 5 stars but i’m a sensitive sally and i was waiting for the ow drama shoe to drop so it had me stressed 🫣 and yet i finished it in less than 16 hours so something was done right 😂

I was so stoked that I was able to receive an ARC of BYLH!
Don't call it a come back! Charleigh Rose is always on my list of faves and she definitely didn't disappoint, I am obsessed with Holden and Valen just like I knew I would be!

I loved Holden so much in the first book, so I knew this book about him would just be amazing and it was. ❤️ The chemistry between Valen and Holden was so strong I felt the goosebumps. 😍🥰 The author gave literally everything I love in one book. Like..

It's been a while since I read Thayer and Shayne's book, so the plot was a little rusty for me initially. As the story progressed, however, I wanted more plot, less sex. There was no angst in my opinion, just romping every chapter which got tedious and I skipped through most of it. I wanted a better build up between Holden and Valen and felt that the ending was too rushed.

CHARLEIGH ROSE IS BACK! And I could not be more ecstatic to have one of my favorite authors back in one of my favorite book worlds. I’ve been long anticipating this story, and Charleigh does NOT disappoint!
No one writes romantic chemistry quite like Charleigh. The kinetic tension, the longing, the pushing and pulling, the emotional chaos of falling- she deftly builds it so immersively. It makes her stories addictive, consuming, mesmerizing- and oh my was I held tightly in Valen and Holden’s clutches! These two do not make it easy- they are so complicated, vulnerability averse, closed off and ultimately scared of their connection….so it’s a battle, and what a deliciously steamy and turbulent journey they have to take to find their HEA.
Valen is just how I remember her- a total force whose edges aren’t just hard fought but are carefully curated to deflect and shield her heart. And Holden- well he’s got his own unique brand of heart-shielding finesse. His charisma, his humor, they too serve to keep his true heart locked up safe. SO what a dynamic combination! They both have to really peel the other back, while also learning to open up themselves. So much conflict, all of that new adult angst and growing and longing and drama! It gobbled me up. I loved being back in this word!

With my upcoming trip to Vegas, I was worried I wouldn’t finish on time after looking at the chapter list… every one knows how slow of a reader I am hahaha... but I picked it up and literally could not put it down.
I spent all of Sunday curled up on the couch with Valen & Holden and I just devoured it!
The tension, the push and pull, you can feel it radiating between them. It starts off as playful but it heats up between them so fast - I don’t think I’ve smiled harder than I did while reading this.
I just love Valen, she’s stubborn as all get out but there’s no mistaking her feelings for Holden – She’s just scared of letting someone in when literally everyone else has failed her.
Now, let’s talk about the SPICE!! Cause HOLY 🔥!!!
I have 100000% added another to my book boyfriend list – Holden is 🤌🏻🤌🏻 – the way he teases her and the things that come out of his mouth 😮💨 - but then to watch him melt for her and fall in love… it was everything.

I'm not sure if I liked or disliked this book. The storyline of the book wasn't that interesting and ended up being super messy....
Valen and Holden have disliked each other for years but we all know there's more to it. After one slip up one year, their avoidance and hate continues for years, until they get stuck together. They get stuck in their winter wonderland house (during a weekend getaway with friends) and there they discover each other.
While the book began really nice and cosy (the environment of the story was amazing in the beginning. I really got the winter Christmas vibes and it made me feel sooo cosy), the story went in a really messy direction. I read book one, Tell Me Pretty Lies, back in the day, but it felt like this book was too intertwined with the events that happened in that book. This book is marketed to be a 'standalone' but it didn't feel that way. Sometimes I got really confused...
Characters
The characters didn't speak to me. They were constantly bantering. Valen and Holden are the definition of a hate/love relationship, but mostly hate. They kept pushing each other away covering it up with a dislike for each other, while in reality they felt so much more for each other. The push and pull got old on me, it started to annoy me because we all knew their 'hate' for each other was fake.
The story was also a bit too focused around sex, well, hate sex. The characters constantly used sex or sexual advances to cover their feelings up. It happened too much and started to annoy me.
Andddd again, can I mention that I really didn't like Valen and Holden!? I didn't like them apart / on their own, and I didn't like them together. Valen was just a bitch to me. I didn't like a thing about her hard edged personality. Holden was just too easy, chasing her like a puppy. If I were him, I'd have dropped her. His character also didn't speak to me. He was just...there...

It’s been so long since I’ve read the first book and I’ve missed these characters so much!
Holden and Valen have such an explosive chemistry that made reading their moments together so much fun. They are both great characters that I loved getting to know more. I like their personalities and how they fit so well together. From the good to the bad you can tell how strongly they both feel and how scary that can be most times. I love these two so much!!
The story itself is interesting! I honestly couldn’t stop reading it. I’m going to miss Holden and Valen so much!!!

Holden in love is a sight to behold! He does not hold back and I love how he had patience with Valen! She pushed him in the ways he needed. Didn’t let him get away with anything while he helped to soften her heart. Their chemistry is palpable and hotter than anything I’ve read in a long time.
This story is very emotional but so good. Twists and turns but you’re going to love it all! Again the wait was worth it and my heart is now happy.

I waited YEARS for this story, and Mrs. Charleigh Rose did NOT disappoint. I loved every single moment, I savored every single chapter. Valen had me falling head over heels. And Holden?! That perfect golden retriever, SWOON. They were explosive. Hot. Romantic. Perfection.

I made a pledge to myself, that this year I will only read romance books that I have been waiting for, from authors that take their time writing their next book. When I found out Charleigh Rose had finally released her follow up to Tell Me Pretty Lies I downloaded that bad boy faster than a greased pig! And I’m so glad I did.
Tell Me Pretty Lies was a great read, it had romance, it had plot, it had side characters galore and it had a murder mystery at its core. It was in the veins of Ivy Fox’s ‘The Society’ (a personal fave of mine and Rachel Leigh’s ‘Redwood Rebels’, (another fave!)). But it left me with a severe case of cliffhangeritus, with no follow up or resolutions in site! So after months of waiting and checking instagram so often that my search history wondered wtf was going on, I moved on.
Fast forward to two days ago, and up pops a recommendation on my kindle for a book titled “Break Your Pretty Little Heart”, by none other than Charleigh Rose. I got so excited - I abandoned my CR to devour this and I was not disappointed.
Lately all romance has felt so samey to me, there’s been a lack of chemistry and story, with more and more authors producing a book a month to stay popular that hold absolutely no substance whatsoever, just smut (and if that’s your jam great, I know I’ve enjoyed books like that in the past, I’m just not vibing with them at the moment). But not this one. Holden and Valen were absolutely combustible and the story felt immersive and I was here for every minute of it!!
Let’s start with Valen, she was Miss Ice Princess perfection, with a spine of steel people!! A SPINE OF STEEL (internally squeals with glee!). Suffice to say I loved her. Every bloody piece of her.
Then there’s Holden, and Jesus did he make me need a cold shower and a room for one every time he was on the page! He’s cocky, has a mouth that needs a quick shot of soap and he falls first for the girl that can’t love.
Then there’s that plot, we get a frienemies to lovers situationship, with lots of sneaking around, and soul bearing - all be it begrudgingly - from both MC’s, which makes it even better to read. And we get the twists and turns of the mystery from book one. I will say though, that that is where my only issue with this book lies, that mystery was wrapped up all too quickly for my liking. I would have liked a lot more sinisterness from the villain. Although I did love Holden’s hero moment, it was like a divine movie moment in my head!! I also loved the fact that when presented with a possible cheating scenario, Valen’s reaction is mature and not what you expect at all.
I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed this one, but I won’t cos I’m sure you get the gist.
To Sum It Up: I’ll just be over here obsessing over the ribbon and cheer outfit scenes.

Fast paced, tension, banter and plenty of spice. I would recommend reading book 1 as a plot point is interconnected.

Holden Ames and Valentina "Valen" Solorio had been on each other's dislike list for quite some time. Both were born into a life of privilege but had a deficit of love that caused them to wrestle with wanting more yet did everything they could to not have more love. Even after a series of disastrous encounters cemented their distaste for each other their intense physical attraction only grew stronger. When the two finally capitulated to their attraction it only served to further fire the flames of it for some real spicy encounters. While the heat between this couple was scorching, the real attraction between them lay in their exchanges which took them to a whole other level of interesting. There was much more to these two than pretty faces getting it on and this author rose to the occasion. Some of the best moments in this work was the toe to toe dynamic between this couple.
Charleigh Rose jumped right into this couple’s energy from the start. Consistently snarky and steamy with underlying genuine emotions this writer did a great job of bringing a pair to the pages that readers would be intrigued by. Ms. Rose had a good take on her character's place in life, nailing their maturity levels or in some cases their lack of maturity, for some pivotal moments. Holden and Valen wore their insecurities like suits of armor trying to keep real emotions as far from their hearts as they could. This author did a very good job of exploring the question of what happens when you meet someone worth letting your guard down for and worth risking your heart. With chemistry that was combustible and exchanges that were witty and well played out this story kept a quick pace. An interesting underlying overarching plot added a nice layer to this story.
Edgy in your face heroes where rules roll off their backs and pleasing others is the last thing on their mind is Charleigh Rose's writing superpower. This author's ease at going from witty to emotional exchanges at a moment's notice is a real skill. Break Your Little Heart was worth the wait and will appeal to old and new readers of this author alike!

5 So Worth The Wait ⭐️’s!

Oh how I have been waiting for Holden & Valen’s story. We caught glimpses of their mixture of witty banter & flirting in Tells Me Pretty Lies, and I’ve been hooked since. It was 100% worth the wait. And Holden just made it to the top of my book boyfriend list. I do love a good “He Falls First” trope. And Holden’s protective nature with Valen was swoon-worthy. He’s just so lovable.
Their story starts out one year prior. And leads up to the present, where they are attending college together. From the very beginning the sexual tension and chemistry between the two is palpable. The witty banter, push & pull and sarcasm is their version of flirting. But you also see it’s their defense mechanisms, too. She uses denial, sarcasm & standoffishness. And he uses humor, flirting & his playboy ways. Both struggled to get fully involved or let people in, in past relationships. As we see from Valen’s breakup with Liam. And Holden’s inability to move past hook-ups only. Both emotionally stunted & closed off. If you can’t feel, you can’t get hurt…
This book is full of steam and and their sexual chemistry is off the charts. HOLY HOTNESS!!! 🔥 But what I loved the most is watching two beautifully broken and damaged souls heal, grow & evolve - both individually and together. Charleigh did an amazing job unraveling each of their back stories & history - uncovering their past. The life events that led up to who they are today, how they each behave and their way of life. There is so much more depth to each character than we knew of. They are both stubborn as hell and tried to fight the relationship, but failed. Their feelings for one another strong, eventually outweighing everything, even their own denial and pasts.

I’m so happy that this book is FINALLY here, I waited a long time for this and it didn’t disappoint me in the slightest.
Holden and Valen had me at hello, I loved their relationship, their banter, their tension and especially all the emotions. Valen is the one in their relationship that doesn’t want a relationship and wants to keep things casual whereas Holden quickly realises that he wants her for himself. He really surprised me with his patience and gentleness and I loved to see his sweet side.
This book is by far my favourite one of Charleighs books. I loved both Holden and Valen individually and as a couple and their emotions were really well written. The plot had it ups and downs, it was very focused on the relationship with a little side plot but I totally enjoyed it.
I highly, highly recommend reading the first book in the series. It’s been a while since I’ve read Shayne and Thayer’s story and although I think you can read both books as standalones, there were a few things said that happened in book one and I couldn’t remember a single thing from this one, so I was a bit confused.

When Valen finds her boyfriend cheating on her she falls into the arms of our playboy Holden. Holden has been attracted to Valen but she's always kept him at arms length. When they get stranded at a vacation house together things finally heat up between them. I loved watching these two figure out their new dynamic. There was so much more to Holden and I enjoyed seeing him fall for Valen. Will Valen let him into her heart?

Yessss!!!! Finally we get Holden and Valens story and OMG it was everything I anticipated it would be Charleigh Rose didn’t disappoint! These two were absolutely incredible together there was so much chemistry and the banter was fun the push and pull was super angsty all the drama surrounding them made it so much more interesting and holy smokes the spice was spicy! I loved when Valen finally started letting her walls down and she had Holden wrapped around her little finger it just took her sometime to realize it and trust it , I really liked being back in this world it felt like coming home. I loved this book ! Definitely a must read and deserves 5 billion stars!

I've been waiting for more of this series! Holden was everything. He was funny and had great banter with everyone. I loved his character. The only thing lacking was more...something. nothing major happened until the very end. Like 80% in. Which I get you have to build up the story. But I just wish there was more to it. With that said I really did enjoy this book and hope to read more in this series. I enjoy the way the book was written.
