I pre-ordered this entire series as soon as I heard about it but hadn't started reading it until now.

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

In this new take on the "Little Red Riding Hood" story, we follow a mafia princess named Ruby, who acquires a stalker who kills those who touch what's his. As she participates in the Black Rose Auction to gain more information about him, she finds that she may have bitten off more than she could chew.

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

I hate that our FMC was such a spoiled fucking brat. There, I said it. I know that's part of the clencher for this particular book so I'm not taking as much away here as I normally would. I just didn't like Ruby very much.

I loved Casimir but, then again, I'm into morally black MMCs so there's that. lol I enjoyed my read-through of this book a little too much just for my glimpses into his psyche. That's just me, though. I tend to look a little too deeply into things in this area.

I was so shocked by the reveal of who Casimir/Luke really is and feel like I should have seen this shit coming from a mile away. That's just me, though. I don't know how to read between the lines and tend to not be observant when I need to be.

I was so glad we got the epilogue we did as well. I ended up pouting when I realized that we were done with the book and laughed when I realized that I was pouting. I pout quite a bit when I finish books but I've always been a brat like that.

Yes, I'd recommend this book if you want decent, quality smut. Yes, there's quite a bit of smut in this book but that's normal for Katee Robert books. I knew what I was walking into when I picked this book up. lol

This book was basically written precisely for me, and I am absolutely FERAL about it.

I got early access to the ARC and HOLY FUCK did I devour this book. Mind the CWs, there are definitely people who will want nothing to do with this. And that's okay. Stalking in real life? Not hot. This fictional stalker? Yes. Yes, please.

This is also a book that made me enjoy the fuck out of the main character cheating. Sound unbelievable? AND YET.

The suspenseful elements were also handled beautifully, and anticipation rose exponentially throughout until a pretty big reveal. All done so, so well.

God damn, Katee. You knocked it out of the park with this one.

I'm legit going to reread this right away to catch the things I missed on my first readthrough, too.

LOVED.

---
Edit: I literally loved this so much that I directly went back and reread it, knowing the reveal the whole time. Still loved every moment of it, possibly even more so!

The pacing of this book felt off and the insta lust situation wasn't for me, but maybe someone else might enjoy this book more.

Not for me. This wasn’t really romance, it was just aggressive porn with two characters who had the personality of sex dolls. The main character was so impulsive I wanted to throw the book, and the erotica was a hard no for me. I can overlook a lot, but this made my feminist soul leave my body.

I love when villains get the girl, especially in that "are they really a villain?" kind of way where they’re misunderstood or their goals just clash with the main character’s. I’m all for morally gray love interests, antagonists, and evil-coded characters. But full-on psychos with zero empathy who just want to own people? No thanks, I need depth, tension, conflict, and something to root for not a checklist of red flags.

I liked Katee’s Villains series. Were they five-star reads? No, but they were fun. This, though, had no emotional pull, no chemistry, just instant obsession and sex addicts. I didn’t even want to finish it, but it was so short that I held out hope I’d care about their relationship by the end. I didn’t.

But... to each their own!

Oh my stars 🌟 🌟!! This is probably my most favorite Katee Robert book TO DATE. And that is saying something, given how I DEVOURED some of her other books (over and over).

If you haven't read the Wicked Villains books, especially The Beast, this book may have things in it that feel like deep backstory, but you feel a little lost?... Like you have that left out feeling, but all of the plot still works, so you'll continue on? Yeah, it's a stand alone, but there are a ton of references to the past series!

Ruby Belmonte is the daughter, amd sole heir, of the rulers of one of the sections of Carver City. She has grown up as the perfect daughter, done all she was supposed to, even has the suburban boyfriend. Her life is completely perfect boring.

Oh sure, her boyfriend Luke is great, and he has a good job. Even if he doesn't know the whole truth about her and what she is expected to do when the ruling power is turned over to her.

Ruby feels trapped. So she makes a reckless decision. And that reckless decision gets caught on video, and suddenly she is being blackmailed by a predator who calls himself Wolf 🐺 He is stalking her. Watching her every move. He is threatening her and everyone she has been in contact with.

And Ruby can't.stop.talking.to.him. She is addicted to the danger she feels around him. So when Wolf raises the stakes, is Ruby in too deep? Or can she claw herself away from the Big Bad Wolf before it's too late? Before she loses everyone and everything she knows.

This book was so amazing! I read it twice. Back to back. Honestly, I can't stop thinking about some of the scenes! They were so well written! I loved the plot, and the characters! Katee does a phenomenal job writing these complex characters with these intricate back stories. And the backstories weave so well together! She is so amazing how she plots out these complex character dynamics and brings them in and out of each other's lives. She creates these thriving, bustling communities. She paints such a vivid picture of some of these characters and where they are, it feels like you could step right through the pages and join in on their adventure, whatever that may be.

One of my MOST favorite parts of this book was the primal scene Katee wrote. If you don't know a lot about primal play or primal k1nk, reading about it before reading this book would be good! Katee has written one of the longer scenes I have seen. She shows an incredible example of someone pushed beyond their limits, speaking out, and the scene continuing but altered. So many times in 🐝 DSM books, I will see the Dom say "You can take it" when the Sub clearly could not and should have used their safeword. Beyond that, I like the aftercare that was done, but I wish there was more. More talk of it? Or more of it? I'm not sure. Just more. It left me wanting.

Now, there are some things about this entire "world" that absolutely bother me. I hate that Carver City, and Olympus, and all of those places, seemingly exist SOMEWHERE in America. In Neon Gods Persephone makes reference to college in CA, and in this book they talk about New York and other countries. I kind of wish this world was separate from our reality, our space on the planet.... if that makes sense?

I received this book as part of a kickstarter bonus for Dangerous Tides, but Patreons are also able to download it for a short window of time!

This book only whet my palete, and I am absolutely ravenous for the other books that will come out- the ones for this kickstarter, and the rest of this series that Katee will write. All of which won't be out until 2024 😭😭😭 I don't know if I can make it until then!!

This is one of those books that made me question whether or not I need more therapy. Plot and character development is, once again, not really here lol. But Katee Roberts delivers another scorcher with this one. 🔥🔥🔥

Gosh, this book was unbelievable. I have never met a more unlikeable FMC, or more farfetched MMC. We are meant to believe they have been dating for TWO FUCKING YEARS and in that entire time, he's been hiding an accent? As if. Let's not even touch on the fact that the FMC 'Red' just constantly wants to go around fucking other men, even when they're supposed to be 'committed' to each other.

This was a hard miss for me. I don't like sharing novels and I kind of wish I got a warning prior to starting this.

I went in blind with this one so I had no idea about the cheating. I def did not love her reasonings especially since she didn’t even talk to the boyfriend about it. I felt super bad when that twist came into play!

I did have a lot of fun with it though which was super surprising considering I did have issues with the h and I could not put it down.

I love the H!!

The narrator was good too and I am not a big fan of duet narration. I wasn’t a fan of the Russian accent though. 🤣🥴

rtc (or not, dunno)

I just want to say, sorry for mocking the 40/50 yo side characters that had Disney names (Jasmine and Jafar, Uncle Hook, Tink, Beast...), I truly didn't know they were in another series (it's still ridiculous though)

YUM. This book was DELICIOUS. 😋
I devoured this book in 3 days.. and I’m typically not a super fast reader, but I could not put this baby down.
My first Katee Robert read, and it did not disappoint.

I received a ARC of this book for supporting Bonkers Romance 2023 Kickstarter. It is the first book in Katee Robert’s Wicked Villians 2nd generation and will be a part of Bonkers Romance 2024 Kickstarter campaign. I’m a fan of the Wicked Villians series and thoroughly enjoyed this 2nd generation book. I will be rereading this when the Kickstarter releases next year and am eagerly looking forward to this new series.

It’s no secret that Katee Robert’s Wicked Villains series is one of my favorite romance series because she strikes just the right mix of character, plot, and kinky open door sex. As the first of the Second Generation Wicked Villains novels, Wicked Pursuit performs the same delicate balancing act. This novella was released as an advance reader copy for the Black Rose Auction 2024 Kickstarter with the Dangerous Tides 2023 Kickstarter. It also ties in with the Wicked Control serial that the author is writing in her Patreon community. So, of course, I downloaded Wicked Pursuit and started reading it the same day that I received it.

Ruby Belmonte is the sole heir to the Belmonte territory in the mythical Carver City, which has been at peace since the events of the original Wicked Villains series concluded. After two years of being in a stable romantic relationship, Ruby feels constrained and rebels hard. Her choices go from bad to worse as a stalker enters her life and eventually backs her into a no-win situation. Things get freaky from there, but it’s a romance novel at heart so there is a tidy “happy for now” ending.

Please pay very careful attention to the content warnings and trigger warnings for this novella. Everything listed is in the novella in spades, so please (please) don’t embark on reading this if those warnings sound alarm bells. Parts of the plot rely on stalking and dubious consent to work, so please be kind to yourself and skip this one if that isn’t for you. And of course, the sex is as graphic and kinky as in the original series, so take a hard pass on the novella if that isn’t something you enjoy.

I appreciated that the novella itself supplies all the necessary background information from the Wicked Villains series so that readers who skipped out on the original series aren’t completely lost. In fact, it took me awhile to piece together that Ruby was the daughter of the Isabelle, Gaeton, and Beast throuple because that fact was mostly irrelevant to the novel. By the end of the novella, I was still uncertain of the parentage of most of the Second Generation characters, but am figuring that will become clearer as that series develops. I just hope it doesn’t get abandoned after two books like the Sabine Valley series!

I do recommend this novella for any reader who enjoyed the original Wicked Villains series or who is enjoying the Patreon serial. Like the other two Bonkers Romance Kickstarters, I will be eagerly awaiting the launch of the 2024 Black Rose Auction Kickstarter in the spring.

WICKED PURSUIT by Katee Robert
4⭐️ I love the premise of the story. It’s a little red riding hood retelling where the nicknames for the main character is red and wild. LOVEE it. I felt like the pacing was perfect and I love myself a fictional stalker! There’s a lot of kink exploring and it is pretty spicy. Katee did a great job incorporating consent in the book. This was so much fun to read and I devour this part of the book so quick.

I felt like the ending was a little rushed and I would have liked a little more but I think it’s because I didn’t want it to end yet haha.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC.

This was my first stalker, dark romance....and it was definitely something. 😆
This book made me truly appreciate how much emphasis Katee always places on consent, though.
I was a bit lost because I haven't read any of the Villains series yet, and there's quite a bit of Carver City politics in this...

Oooo it hooked me from the beginning! I love a dark romance spin on a fairytale.
I was left wanting more, I can't wait to read the rest of the series because I'm dying for this story to continue. All I can do now is hope this interconnected series has main character reappearing as side characters throughout the series.
I want this book to be twice as long and continue after the initial conflict is wrapped up. This was a great stalker romance with some BDSM aspects.

As always check your 🔫 triggers before jumping into any darker romances.

Thank you to NetGalley and Katee Robert for giving me this ARC in exchange of an honest review.

What I always loved about Katee Robert and will continue to love forever is how easy her books are to read.
I loved Ruby and the MMC and I enjoyed so much how this book was written. I really wasn't expecting that twist at the end so I was pleasantly surprised.
As all of Katee's other books this one was soooo smutty and sooo good.
I loved the mafia lore but the end was a little to quickly done. I really wanted to know what happens with the Bellamontes and the other family and of course with Rose's friend and the other side characters.

Overall really enjoyed it and hopefully Katee will write more books about these characters!!!

Ruby has the perfect boyfriend and the perfect life, but she finds herself unsatisfied - and far too interested in the strange texts she's been receiving from a man who seems to be stalking her.

This was a quick, entertaining read, and I found myself genuinely surprised by some of the twists and turns that Robert tosses our way. I was amused by the genuine glee that the characters take in behaving badly. However, I did feel like the development of the emotional component of the romance was lighter than usual - maybe because it extends further back than the start of the book, but I did miss it anyway.

for a short story, katee absolutely KNOCKED it out of the park with this one. i had SO much fun reading it!! i don’t want to give anything away so im going to keep it short, the build up and reveal of the story was so so well executed! i had absolutely no idea about the twist and i always love when a book can surprise me. the spice was piping hot 🔥🔥
i definitely read these out of order, but i love how this set up the rest of the series so nicely. such a fun short read!!

Not to romanticize stalkers but dammnnnnnnn. Ruby you are a very lucky lady even with the plot twist of who her stalker turned out to be I ate it up. The next gen of wicked villains is off to a crazy start and we are only on the very first book, I just feel I need a giant family tree because there are 6 original books and I know at least 4 of them have children and in this book it is never specifies whose kids are whose but I was able to make a few educated guesses. I will forever be silently wishing I was Ruby mainly because of the stalker but also because I am obsessed with her parents to the point where I would think of them while Ruby and wolf were getting it on, is it a bit of a mood killer when Ruby is talking about the amount of orgasms she had and me immediately thinking "oh do you think she beat her mom's record of 17 in a row?" but did I do that throughout the entire book and will I continue to think those things with the rest of the next gen? Hell yeah.

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Black Rose Auction collaborative series as it has many of my favourite authors, but, OH MY GOD! I was not expecting to love these as much as I did! Thank you so so much for this ARC opportunity I had an absolute blast reading these. And I desperately need this book for my shelf. Can’t wait to get my hands on the other stories because this series is so much fun. I also had the chance to read Shattered Innocence (Cinderella remix) from the series.

Katee Robert came out Sa-wiiiiing-in and knocked it out of the park with Wicked Pursuit. This might be my favourite one by her yet. A second gen spin off of the Wicked Villians series. I am OBSESSED with Red and Wolf. A dark fairytale remix of Little Red Riding. Stalker romance. Mob Princess. Masked man. Twists. Safe space for k!nk exploration. I really enjoyed every minute of this. It is so well written, I loved the full story arc and now want to dive into the Wicked Villains series (picked up Desperate Measures today)

Thank you SO much for this opportunity this may be one of my favourite ARC reads yet.
