The job is a dream. The boss is a nightmare.

There are three things I find sexy in a dimples, defined biceps, and vests.

There are many things I hate about the most eligible Manhattan bachelor Giovanni Cassinetti.

His burn-your-underwear smile with dimples.

His chiseled biceps.

And of course he loves to wear a three-piece suit.

He’s powerful and infuriating. Rude and selfish.
And unreasonably hot. That’s the root of my problem.

So when I take a job with his company, I’m determined to avoid him at all costs.
It’s hard though when we travel together for business .

It’s only one week in California, but it changes everything.
Suddenly I see a different side of him. The optimist in me thinks I understand him better.

Until he gives me a proposal , I should refuse.
But instead I sign the reckless deal .

Love the trope, the premise and was excited to read this book but sadly it really fell flat.

They spent the first half of the book not liking each other and then they finally get together, he proposes a contract to get married and she rejects but then has a lot of financial issues happen all at once that even though she said she’s not like other women interested in his money, then tells him she’ll marry him BECAUSE she needs his money. So then he ends up hating her for the next 40% of the book while they are together because he thinks she’s like every other woman in his life that took advantage of him. She ends up leaving him and that’s the first time she is honest about her feelings. Total cringe.

The miscommunication trope is a popular way to go but I wasn’t interested in reading about it for what felt like 30-40% of the second half of the book.

The first half of the book was great! The second half of the book had me screaming at my kindle... The constant miscommunication was getting old real fast and kind of ruined the book for me. Sorry :/

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. I did find it a bit wordy at times. The FMC (Mila) would go on about things a bit too long or describe things in too much detail, in my opinion. My eyes started wandering a bit at times, beginning to skim the words.
At one point in the middle of the book, I skipped ahead to see when things would change up. I won't give any big spoilers, but things change between Mila and Gio and their "relationship" is tense. It seemed to go on for a while, and I was getting a little bored of it, so I flipped through to see how much longer it was before something changed. I did eventually go back to where I left off and continued reading, however.

Besides this, I still enjoyed the book. I would have liked to see more of Gio's POV at times. There were definitely a lot more chapters from Mila's POV.

I liked a bunch of the secondary characters, like Gina, her boyfriend / ex-husband, Nora, and Conrad. They were really there for Mila and even Gio when they needed them. I especially loved how the girls had Mila's back.

Overall, the book was a bit longer than it needed to be, in my opinion. I still enjoyed it overall, though. I'm glad that Gio learned to live a little, and that work isn't everything.

A HEA and I am glad.

I am not sure about how I feel about this book. The main characters we so back and forth until it was a bit hard to keep up. I guess I don't understand the brokenness in the male main character's life to the extent that he treated the female main character with such harshness. I am glad though that they got their HEA.

My heart broke from all of the stress and pressure Mila was holding in. I wanted to smack Gio so many times but I also understood he had been hurt and taken advantage of before.

Mila and Gio aren't exactly friends, or even on good terms, when he calls in a favor and gets her a gig at his company. Though she's always been attracted to him, even had an unrequited crush on him, she doesn't particularly like him with his cold, stoic personality. But working with him has allowed her a glimpse of a different side to the ruthless billionaire, a side she's really beginning to like. But when he proposes a surprise engagement, she really shouldn't say yes. What would happen if she does say yes? What would happen if he mistook her reason for saying yes?

Gio is driven to distraction by his new fiancée. He doesn't want to be affected by the woman he just found out is exactly like all the other women he's ever dated - only likes him for his money. So he treats this engagement of convenience exactly as it is - a convenience, and not real, as if his feelings for her aren't real, feelings he can't even admit to. If he doesn't take his head out of his ass, he may lose his fiancée, even when he realizes exactly where he went wrong.

The miscommunication, or should I say NO communication trope is alive and well in Reckless Deal, and it's maddening. I wanted to smack Mila for not being transparent about her reasons for saying yes, but especially Gio for being such a freaking bonehead and assuming he knew Mila's feelings, without even bothering to ask. My God, their whole drama could have been avoided if they'd simply talked to each other. Sigh...but aside from their communication issues, I like their story. Their chemistry is hot, their banter is witty and fun, and they both actually do some character growth by the end.

New author for me and I always like to dip into these billionaire office romances. This was definitely one of the good ones.
Gio is grumpy, successful, ice cold but also unknowingly caring. He may be sharp in the business world, just lost in the relationship section. That's also down to his broken by his ex Fiancée. So he only dates by arrangement.
Mila is a bit self conscious because she was belittled a lot by her ex. But she has a heart bigger than her. She takes care of her sisters needs and her nephews. She is trying to make something of herself as well at the same time. She is easy to love and she is quite funny at times.
There has always be something between them but they're a world apart and he has a type that's not her.
When she works for him and they end up away for a week, she somehow manages to bring him to life again. He is so robotic it's evident in how he communicates with others. He just works, works and works.
She makes him see simple things in life. Things shift in their relationship. When he is sure she is the one, he offers a reckless deal that destroys it all.
I won't say anymore because best you find out. All I will say is that my goodness me did I cry when she leaves that letter for him. I felt her broken heart and his too.
What I loved the most was how Mila didn't just forgive him. Gio really worked on himself and his priorities. Loved how much effort he made to get forgiven. Both characters had growth and it was fantastic to see how they really work helped each other.
This was sweet, funny, family, friends, emotional, love and spice. There was sweet, hot and hate s3x.
Although there was plenty of Spicy scenes, there were a few that we got start of it then we just got the end kind of thing. What can I say, I'm glutton for spicy times, I will always want more haha.
I'm intrigued by his brother Andrea now. Can't wait.

Favourite Quotes:

"Even though I can’t touch her, these moments we share are the most normal I’ve had in years."

"Mila Ward has ruined s3x for me. And I haven’t even slept with her."

"She smiles at me and it hits me in the chest, spreading sunshine through my cynical soul."

I do not understand how there are 171 pages left in this book and I don’t have the energy to even attempt to get through them.

This story is all over the place. We start with the mmc asking the fmc why she was dressed like a ‘hooker’, then we get to see the mcs as coworkers, oh wow suddenly-helicopter crash. Huh?

Mmc wants fmc BAD but was accused of making sexual advances to his coworkers previously and now makes all his dates sign NDAs and he’s trying to figure out how to get around that since she’s working for him. So boom, she signs an NDA and he whisks her off on a trip dropping mad money on expensive clothes for her that he keeps ripping because they’re just oh so horny for each other. She’s not like all the other girls, she’s not with him for his money so she literally has to complain about the private chef he hires for them on vacation, even though she can’t cook. Girl if you don’t stfu. We get it, you aren’t a gold digger, enough already.

So we get two days out of a 5 day trip, then suddenly it skips ahead two weeks and the man proposes to her????????? Tells her she’s ’the perfect candidate’ and then tries to give her a company he bought for her so they don’t have to hide their relationship anymore. And she says he made her feel like a hooker and breaks it off and ignores him. Oh my god these two are genuinely insufferable.

Bro is mad as hell that she dumped him, gets drunk and whines, then listens to his best friend and mom tell him ‘yeah you kinda made her seem like a hooker’. He sends gifts and calls but she won’t talk to him blah blah blah. Miss girl is uber dramatic as well acting like the man broke her heart. How? Also, I don’t know what you would expect coming from a man who called you a hooker to begin with who you KNEW lived off those damn NDAs.

I cannot find the appeal in either mc at all. They just annoy me and I don’t want to listen to them whine anymore. And I’m still not over that random ass helicopter crash???

We’ve all heard the old adage ‘When you assume, you make an ass out of you and me’ and that is something both of the main characters do a great job of in this book. Gio is a rich and successful businessman but cold, detached, and stoic. He’s often seen with leggy supermodels, so it’s easy to assume the kind of man he is, but when Mila gets a job with him, she manages to break down some of the very high walls he has built and sees the true man he is. Unfortunately, a misjudgement on her part causes him to erect those walls higher than ever, and it makes for a heartbreaking story. Gio isn’t completely innocent in this story either, though. He firmly believes that all women want him for his money and success. Mila isn’t impressed by those things, though, and wants him for him, and she is hurt when he suggests otherwise. Mila’s family is at risk of losing everything with her family being ill and poor, so when she accepts Gio’s help it is out of desperation for them, only he misconstrues it as her being just like all the rest.

The book is very heavy on the miscommunication trope, as both main characters are too stubborn to talk through what they think and feel, both choosing to be miserable instead. I have to say Gio’s character was cruel, and it broke my heart a little bit, but I’m not sure if my heart hurt more for Mila and how she felt because of his actions or if it was for Gio because the author made it clear he was hurting and acting out because of that hurt. They were brilliantly written characters, and when they worked together, they worked so well. Although the grovel wasn’t massively long, I enjoyed seeing the changes they both made for each other.

💛My Thoughts💛

Overall this book was good. There was humor, banter, some steamy moments and a touch of angst. There was a lot of push and pull in this book between the two MC's and it was a good read. This was my first book by this author and after reading this book I would pick up another book by the author.

Mila comes to stay with her sister after her break up with her toxic ex and her sister's diagnosis. She is strong, fiercely protective of their family, and always does everything that she needs to do to help her sister and her sister's kids. She is strong willed and takes a job working for Gio's company. She's made some mistakes in her relationship between her and Gio and really it didn't surprise me why she did what she did. But I admire her for sticking up for herself in the end.

Gio is your typical "I have been hurt before and dont want a relationship" kind of guy. He is a billionaire, broody, cold, and an all around arrogant guy. He makes too many assumptions when it comes to Mila that are not true. He likes his family and works way too much to keep his mind occupied. Once Gio gets his head out of his butt and works on himself a little by reflection on what it is that he wants he and Mila end up having a good relationship.

The only thing that I didn't like about this book was the ending. I really wanted to see more happen between these two but that didn't really happen. It would have been good to see more of their future or something in the end.

Reckless Deal is everything I love about Maxine Henri’s books. She writes the most emotionally complicated, flawed characters who have to earn their happy ending. This story is a delicious workplace romance filled with slow-burn tension, steamy moments, and a whole lot of emotional chaos. Gio and Mila’s relationship is messy, infuriating, magnetic- and I couldn’t get enough.

That said, there were so many times I wanted to punch Gio in the throat. He is your classic emotionally constipated billionaire. He’s cold, closed-off, and 100% the guy you want to shake some sense into… repeatedly. But that’s the magic of Maxine’s storytelling- she gives us these emotionally unavailable men and somehow makes us fall for them right alongside the FMC. Gio needed to be cracked open, and Mila was exactly the woman to do it.

Mila is super protective of her family, selfless to a fault, and trying to rebuild herself after heartbreak. She challenges Gio, pushes him to see life beyond work, and helps him reconnect with feelings he buried long ago.

Their relationship is messy, full of miscommunication and missed opportunities, and I absolutely loved it. Still, I wanted a bit more groveling at the end (he had it coming). And while I would’ve liked just a little more time with them post-reconciliation, the HEA was lovely.

This book was steamy, heartfelt, and hilariously frustrating in the best way. Maxine Henri had me all in my feels again- and I’ll be first in line for whatever she writes next.

This was a push and pull bonanza!

Our girl, Mila is the main provider for her family. She's struggling to make ends meet to provide for her sister and her sister's children's needs. Meanwhile our main guy, Gio, is a billionaire grump with a lot of successful businesses under his name. At the beginning Mila and Gio both did not like but is also attracted to one another. After spending some time together, they finally got to know each other and their reasoning of why Mila is doing the things she does and why Gio has his walls up and does not trust anyone right away.

I find Gio and Mila’s relationship realistic. Their bantering, the conversations, their life and relationship problems, and even the push and pull moments of their relationship, I can envision it happening in real life. The realistic approach made the story more emotional and raw for me. There were times where I want to lock both Gio and Mila in a room and yell “TALK TO EACH OTHER!”😂. How I wished they just had a decent conversation and talked everything out🥲. We also have some groveling going on at some point in the story. Thank you Mila for making our man, Gio work hard in asking for your forgiveness💋😉.

And for that last chapter, someone’s POV, all I can say is, I am intrigued and curious on how his story’s gonna play out☺️

Maxime Henri's 'Reckless Deal' is a scintillating journey through the highs and lows of corporate life, with the enigmatic Gio and the headstrong Mila at the helm. The story is set against the backdrop of a dream job, marred by the presence of a boss who's both a nightmare and an irresistible temptation.

Mila's witty and candid narrative voice draws you into her world, where she reveals the three things that make her swoon - dimples, defined biceps, and vests. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, all of these qualities are embodied by the imposing Giovanni Cassinetti, a man who exudes power and infuriation in equal measure.

The tension between Gio and Mila is palpable from the start, and as they embark on a business trip together to California, the plot takes a compelling turn. Mila begins to see a different side of her boss, one that challenges her preconceived notions. The optimism in her heart makes her believe there's more to Gio than meets the eye.

'Reckless Deal' is a delightful exploration of love, desire, and unexpected connections. The reckless deal that Mila finds herself entangled in keeps readers guessing and hoping for a satisfying resolution. Maxime Henri crafts a story filled with passion, humor, and steamy romance, making it a must-read for fans of the genre. If you're ready for a rollercoaster ride of emotions and sensuality, this book is the perfect choice. So, why resist temptation? Dive into 'Reckless Deal' and discover the irresistible chemistry between Gio and Mila for yourself.

Mila and Gio.
🫴 enemies to lovers
🫴 miscommunication
🫴 Billionaire
🫴 Dominant Male
🫴 Engagement of convenience
🫴 Grumpy/ Sunshine

Gio was taken by a gold digger in the past, which causes him not to trust anymore. At least when it comes to women.
Mila has always crushed on Gio but never went further because of his off putting personality.
Against her better judgement she signs a contract with Gio to go on a date with him after he won a bet. This allowed her to get to know him better.
When Gio comes up with a deal that he thinks is right but it hurts Mila because she sees it as him making her one of his many contact girls.
Which I don't blame her. Very offensive. She wanted him to want her for real without a deal or contract holding them together. So she refuses the deal.
This is where the miscommunication comes into play. After some bad news Mila accepts Gios proposal but doesn't explain why and allows him to think she's only accepting because she wants the money and financial support.
After that she is hurt that he treats her horribly and ignores her throughout their engagement. I mean, he has every right. In my opinion, until she explains her reasonings. I honestly don't think she had the right to feel butt hurt over her choice to lead him to believe she only wanted him for his money.

I went through all the emotions while reading this book. Anger, hurt, love, pain, humor, chemistry.

Mila would do anything for her family and I loved that about her. Gio was a piece of work, at the very end she gave in too easy. Where was the groveling, the redemption, there was none of it.

Gio realized where he went wrong and changed his ways which I loved but it was so late in the book that I felt that it was rush and unfinished.

This is the second book I’ve read from Maxine Henri and it was even better than the first one! I absolutely loved Mila and Gio’s story. From enemies to lovers back to enemies on one side the engagement of convenience and the seemed unrequited love ❤️ ugh all the freaking feels! The slow burn was torture in the best way and really made the story feel so real I could relate to each of the characters and their own silent silly battles as the fought to stay indifferent and protect themselves whilst their chemistry and obvious perfection for each other kept them in each others orbits. Mila is such a dynamic and beautiful woman who does everything for everyone and then finds the strength to do something for herself and when Gio is faced with a challenge he fights so hard and it’s heartbreaking and heartwarming. I cannot say enough good things about the book just do yourself a favor and read it! Spice ✅✅romance ✅ suspense ✅ slow burn ✅✅ wonderful plot ✅✅✅ character development ✅✅ you won’t be disappointed!

✍️ What struck me, almost immediately, was the vibes of I-don’t-like-you. And I was hooked right from the start. I read this book under 24 hours because it was such a page turner. Mila is our fmc and Gio is our mmc. And let me tell you, these two were made for each other. The way that Mila cared for her sister and her kids was touching. She had such a big heart and her character arc was astounding. When she finally stood up for herself, I was cheering her on. And Gio was right there to help her. Gio wanted Mila BADLY, but his walls and trust issues were sky high. He was also incredibly kind, in his way. They just needed to talk more. But I understand why they reacted how they did at times. Both of them have been burned by inadequate partners in the past. So when they finally realized and talked about their feelings, I was giddy. And best believe I was grinning during the spicy scenes, because it was spicy

A spicy tumultuous romance with a jaded billionaire looking for something real and a woman ready to do anything to take care of her sister. Mila and Gio’s relationship is a whiplash causing, crazy frustrating, and downright explosive happily ever after waiting to happen if they could just get out of their own way.
It’s a great book and I love that you can absolutely adore Gio and Mila together, see how great they are for each other, and then immediately want to bang their heads together in a prime example of if you’re not talking it’s not working. Maxine Henri does a wonderful job of taking you through this relationship from a hot and perfect beginning to a messed up and unsatisfying arrangement and then right back to wonderful, and the whole time, even when you’re screaming at them, you’re loving Gio and his hidden fears and standing by Mila and her misplaced pride. Definitely a completely satisfying and worth it read.

Mila moves home to help her sister, she’s also recovering from a broken heart. She is protective of her family and would do anything to provide for them especially since her sister is going through some medical issues.
Gio is a grumpy man who doesn’t let allow a lot of people into his life because of past experiences, he is closed off and Mila really pushes him to experience life again.
There’s moments where I wanted more from them as a couple they seemed very stubborn but they do find their way.

This was my first read by this author and I must say Gio and Mila was very entertaining the banter between them is hilarious. The angst and chemistry between them was also really good and kept me captivated. I read this book in one day and I have no regrets whatsoever. The ending did feel a little rushed I wanted a bit more groveling but I really enjoyed reading Gio and Mila

Spice: 🌶️🌶️

“I’m a Princess to him, but there is no doubt he’s the king.”

Gio Cassinetti has been a sour puss, workaholic enigma since his first introduction in this series. I loved the way he low key supported, & encouraged his siblings — especially London in Reckless Dare.

And I just KNEW something was brewing with Mia! But dang if these two just can not get out of their own ways & away from their freaking assumptions! It was almost painful to watch them essentially sabotage themselves over & over again.
At one point I just so wanted one do them to have an epiphany & be the champion.
I did end up taking one star off because of the back & forth — and it felt a smidge-y bit rushed at the ending to get to those resolution points.

That being said I really enjoy the pace & structure of Henri’s writing & can’t wait to see what she weaves together for Andrea!

This wasn’t a miscommunication book- this was a NO communication book. (Possible spoilers ahead)

h is not like other women except…..she literally was. She needed his money and she embarked on a relationship for money. 🤷‍♀️ H was mad mad mad about that for most of the book. H was extremely jaded because of one past relationship where the woman was a “gold digger” so his great solution is to enter a relationship with h where money is involved. Make it make sense!

A lot of this book is them flying around everywhere and him buying her designer clothes while he pretends to ignore her by working.

The spice was okay. He hate shags her a couple of times. She knows that’s what he’s doing too except she never confronts him. There’s a dumb 3rd act breakup but it doesn’t last long. The grovel is pitiful

If these two get married, I predict a divorce within 3 years.

Will I ever read an office romance I don't enjoy? Probably not

This is a classic case of 'I've been hurt before so I'm going to put up walls and steer clear of realtionships' and I will eat that up everytime. I could have done without so much miscommunication, but you can't please everyone.

Gio was fantastic. He had such good intentions, but the man just couldn't get it right. He was broody, cold, and just plain arrogant, and that is how we love our billionaire CEOs. Mila was fierce and knew exactly what she wanted. A far cry from those 20 something yr old virgins that plague our offices (jk I secretly love that trope).

The grovelling was *chefs kiss*, and I love how mila didn't just roll over for Gio. She made her man do some personal growth before she gave him a second chance.

Spellbinding:
What an amazing book! I was instantly drawn into the drama and loved how the character's and their situation made me feel as if I was right there witnessing it all alongside them. I was conflicted between wanting to draw it out and get to the end to see how things were resolved.
Milo and Gio melted my heart as underneath it all they were both fragile and hurting. I so wanted things to work out for these two, however they exasperated me when they wouldn't communicate properly!
It would be best if this was read as part of the series and I loved how characters from previous books featured heavily in this one again.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

DANG!!! Gio and Mila 💕I was all for it with their love/hate relationship!

Mila would do anything for her family (tugs my heart strings) ANYTHING!!! Even if it meant to be engaged by convenience. She dealt with a lot of emotions towards Gio!

Gio! My boy! This guy had his walls held up HIGH after he was scared by his ex-fiancee! Poor guy! But man he was trying his best to over come his emotions towards Mila!

Overall, I enjoyed the book, I wanted more SPICE lol

OH bonus epilogue 😘

2nd book I read from Maxine Henri! She does not disappoint.

Marriage of convenience and a hot rich man… yes please!!!

Mila is running an event but everything seems to be going wrong. Later on she gets an offer from her friend to go work at this big company. But she kinda knows her boss…

Gio is the owner of the company and hired mila for her skills. He is grumpy and a workaholic. He slowly begins to see mila in a different light…

This agreement… wow so much went on. They were kinda cute together.

I want to thank Maxine henri for allowing me an arc or this book I am so grateful 🥰🥰🥰

A down on her luck woman taking care of everyone else besides herself, enter in Gio. He’s protective, he’s obsessive honestly he’s kinda a brute but a big softy on the inside; if she said jump he’d say how high. Getting to see Mila break down the walls really tugs at you.

It’s written in dual perspective which I love cause you get to know what goes on behind the growls. There’s a perfect balance of plot, romance and spice.
If you are looking to dip your toe into romance this is a great start

enemies to lovers fake Fiance romance

Mila & Gio the ultimate enemies to lovers I just wanna say I absolutely love Mila how selfless and how much of a strong personality she has it’s absolutely refreshing ! Mila needing to be with gio to help her sister and their kids is the best thing she could do and then gio being a jerk is so typical but I’m happy he found his match and the grovel and she showed him she won’t always need him ! Can’t wait to read Andrea’s book he seems to have a lot going on.

Ok book. I enjoyed the characters Gio and Mila; they grew together with Mila breaking thru Gio’s barriers he’d put up after being caught out by a gold digger - although that thread of the story was never explained fully. Obviously it would be helpful to read the previous books to learn the family dynamics, but it didn’t really matter to the story. The only thing I would say is in the end Gio is blamed for a lot of the problems after the engagement but actually Mila was equally to blame so it dragged on a bit where a conversation would have sold everything.

Delicious but ultimately frustrating misery!

Gio and Mila are both so proud, determined, and bent by old wounds from past relationships, I spent a good amount of the last third wanting to at least shake them both or lock them in a room together without devices until they had a ‘winesty’ moment. But even more so, I wanted to knock their heads together for both being so incommunicative and, well… dumb!

The story is really good, but all of that tension would’ve been much better served in the bedroom. Communicate!
