Senpai and Kouhai are at the end of their adventures, sort of, and that means it’s time to appreciate Kouhai’s editor, travel a whole bunch, and adopt a cat that may or may not exist. So, business as usual, truly.

The only reason I won’t give this a four star sendoff is because it isn’t quite as strong as the series at its best. The glimmers are there, certainly, but it’s probably as good a point as any to say bye to these two goofs.

And goof they do, make no mistake. There’s something almost wonderful about the pair travelling to places and, rather than visiting the super famous stuff, either doing nothing or going off the beaten path. It’s a cute subversion of a typical manga trope.

The two best chapters come from the series’ typical nonsense writ very large. In one, Kouhai becomes a very unsuccessful YouTuber until she suddenly becomes a little too successful for her own good. This one is emblematic of the funniest stuff in the series, as it’s a good laugh capped off with one of those punchlines that the series has always been so strong at.

But the best storyline, hands down, involves the cat that they adopt, which is purely imaginary since their apartment doesn’t allow pets. This is both funny - the cat makes for one of the weirdest folie à deux you’ll ever see, but the ending turns it into something so heartwarming and strange it’s amazing. The parting shot on this one is so, so perfect.

The stories where the two are being miserable to one another are kind of lame and where most of my dissatisfaction from the volume comes from. Swapping the fun for fun-but-mean tends to have too much of the latter without much former. It’s not terribly good compared to the rest.

Then the series ends in the most absolutely ridiculous, and therefore perfect, bit of meta-commentary ahead of a bonus flashback to the two of them starting out. It’s a cute enough ending to things that changes, yet confirms, the status quo. It makes sense, I promise.

As usual, if you expected yuri shenanigans you have come to the wrong place. This continues its comfy vibe, the two share a bed and all that, but it isn’t here for that sort of thing. It’s two very fun people in a relationship who happen to be female. Which is fine, this is very slice-of-life and it doesn’t need much else. I like the understated nature of their relationship.

3.5 stars - ah, I just can’t with that cat story though; it single-handedly earns the rounding up for the last volume. I think this is the right place for this to end - I can sort of see it beginning to slip a little - but it goes out well enough and if you want yuri pals being silly you could do much worse.

This was my favourite of the four but looking back at the series maybe I was just jealous they get to laze around (as if I don't get to). Honestly quite a fun manga series for when you want a chill and quick read with no complicated plot.

Söpö lopetus kivalle sarjalle! Kahden tyttöystävän reissuja irti arjesta, suurempia ja pienempiä. Itse asiassa aika loistava pituus juuri tälle sarjalle.

4 stars. The least humorous but it has the most character growth. I loved this ending and the little twist was fun. This series was great and I adore these characters so much. My adorable little slackers. I'm sad it's over but I can definitely see myself rereading this series whenever I need a pick me up because it's just so light and funny. Highly recommend it.

Not a disappointing ending, but not well done either. Mangaka abandoned Instagram page.

A good wrap-up for the series; I'm glad they were able to go out on a cozy fun note. Will have to look for more from this mangaka some time.

Stayed a solid 3 star read to the end, won’t change my life but it passed an evening nicely enough.

The last volume in the series and I am sad it is over, but I do love how it all came together and the last chapter had me go OMG, seriously? Because it all tied together the whole manga. I loved seeing what escapes the girls did in this one and I laughed quite a lot at all they did. From helping out a friend and ending up on a weekend escape in the country to making up an imaginary cat and eventually loving it so much to drinking a lot, and more! I will miss these girls and I wish them all the luck. Hopefully the unemployed one can either start working for real with her mangaka friend or find a fun job.
