In this 3rd. volume, I feel there is too many unnecessary explanations, too much zero thoughts (thinking that does not advance the plot arcs of the story). For example, when the author describes the skills and levels "Strength Boost (Low), Strength Boost (Medium), Strength Boost (High), Vitality Boost (Low), Vitality Boost (Medium), Vitality Boost (High), Magic Boost (Low), Magic Boost (Medium), Magic Boost (High), Spirit Boost (Low), Spirit Boost (Medium), Spirit Boost (High)," is unnecessary. Strength boost (High) obviously require the low and medium levels. It is unnecessary to be so verbose with explanations and descriptions that are unneeded. If the main character, Fate (Corpse) knows that Eris and Northern are trying to assassinate Lady Roxy then he should have already gotten rid of them. Not solving obvious problems and evil actions right away just make far worse problems down the road. I feel there are to many back and forth needless dialogues between the Greed sword and Fate. I feel the author is miserly/scrimpy since the beginning of the light novel in that, the main character, Fate (Corpse) defeats and kills thousands of enemies, but rarely recovers the money he could get from their deaths. Same happened with the Goblins, Orcs, Sand Worms, crystals in the cave, etc. If the main character would actually save up and grow his wealth, he would not be in such a vulnerable position all of the time. Myne saves every single gold coin for her village and people while Fate keeps on spending more money than he remembers to collect. Lady Roxy could have hired Fate since the first night they met. But the author "allowed" and envisioned 5 years of long suffering to Fate. Fate should have attacked the Death Parade (large monster stampede) since the beginning. But waits at the wall of the city, until it's too late. Extreme situations, impossible odds are not equivalent to an extreme drama. The opposite is more likely to be true: The more impossible a situation, the less credible and nonsensical it becomes.
On one hand, the story finally stays in one general area and deals with one overall problem, and a longer timeframe passes.
On the other, it also feels wishy-washy in a lot of places, with characters that outwardly make little sense, information being deliberately withheld for shock moments and many moments that only progressed due to deus ex machinae.
It also manages to jump the shark towards the end - which will probably be the breaking point for many. It completely trashes the established power balances and could be seen as the author having written himself into a corner up to this point, with how levels and stat growth work in this series.
If you're cool with how ridiculous things are getting here, you're probably in for the long haul.
Even if you tell someone that this is the end of this series, they will believe it because, from volume 1 to 3, Fate's journey has been nothing short of remarkable and the conclusion was beautiful to witness . Now, I understand that it's a power fantasy, but this power really comes at a steep price. I was just imagining that in the hands of a cautious combatant, this power is a stuff of nightmare, because it kind of forces you to be a battle junkie. Another point I want to make would be the battle sequences which was superb. If it gets animated by a good studio, it really might be counted as a seasonal gem. Anyway, I'm eagerly waiting for September 30 for the volume 4 to drop.
Let me first get that cliché comment out of the way. But the artwork by Fame is superb and beautiful. The cover is eye candy to the nth degree and I can't wait to see what their creativity does next. That out of the way, I loved the story in this volume. I found myself on the end of my seat on several occasions and by the end was trying not to cry when Roxy read the letter from Fate. I can't wait to see where the story goes, especially after that rather cryptic conversation between Myne and Greed.
Tengo muchas ganas de saber qué esconde myne y greed. Me encantó ver el lado de greed, y conocerlo más profundamente. Por supuesto no veo la hora de que Fate y Roxy estén juntos 💖
Berserk of Gluttony is convincing me that I will enjoy more or less anything that sticks to the conventions of the LN power fantasy genre lol. However, this series is Generic with a capital G. It’s ‘chosen one servant boy with a princess love interest slays a dragon spliced with low effort video game magic system’ levels of generic.
This installment is promising in terms of the pace of the series though. I did not expect Roxy to discover Fate’s identity nor the Divine Dragon to go down so soon considering how those things were built up. I’m glad neither was dragged out. Those developments alone seem like they should force the author to get creative with new plot lines around the weapons and bearers of mortal sins. His author notes at the end of each volume also give me the warm and fuzzies - half the fun of reading a lesser known LN for me is knowing some businessman dreamt it up in his free time. Weird I know.
Will definitely read more, though I’m going to give it a while before begrudgingly paying $10 for another 300 pages of this. I want to give it a 4 (it’s definitely a light novel 4), but don’t feel like I can, lest I water down my Goodreads scores.

I enjoyed the new settings, I enjoyed reading how Fate desperately tried to keep his identity from Roxy, and I enjoyed the plot twist. So far, I enjoyed the series though I do feel Fate's progress is no longer believable - even in a fantasy world, somethings should still make sense.
