Medusa Stone is a Spanish-born novelist and poet, literary award winner, blogger, and journalist in Europe. Passionate and driven by the defense of human rights, she moved to the US in the year 2000, where she became an anti-trafficking advocate, author and fervent activist against sexual exploitation and slavery. Through Medusa Stone's novels, she explores the misuse of BDSM as an excuse for sexual abuse, with vulnerable characters at the hands of powerful men and organizations. Much of her writing explores the dark nature of humanity; the fine line between love and lust; pain and pleasure; Master and slave. Now a day, the author resides in Gibraltar, UK.
This story just didn’t work for me. I didn’t think Tony was going into the submissive lifestyle for the right reasons. Also the story spent way too much time in Tony’s head. This constant inner monologue is boring. Even though it ends in a cliffhanger I don’t think I have any interest in reading the next book.
Oh wow, this was something else. It’s dark and super intense. It made me question so many things. The author did a great job!
After Tony’s boyfriend Alex ends their relationship, Tony is determined to get together again. He even accepts to join a society Alex is deeply involved with. A kind that suggests a closed BDSM community, but when you look closely at it, I got doubts, so many doubts.
Tony’s head and sensory made overtime. Mine too, to be honest. I was constantly conflicted. Are reactions one of a natural reflex to danger, was the mind playing tricks, or was it really just about letting go, and submitting, is it abuse or training, and what about feelings? Are they genuine, are they manipulating, is it indoctrination, what is their ultimate goal? So many questions. Great when a read can do that. Wait for how this story develops, sadly it ends without a conclusion (I hate cliffs LOL) Overall an intriguing read, intense, entertaining, and wonderfully written I’m anxiously waiting for the next installment, coming next month.
Learning by doing under threat of punishment or worse.
When Tony and Alex try to get past their D/s situation by getting Tony trained by the Society that Alex is a Trainer at, all kinds of trials and punishments are forced in Tony. He wants to be with his love, Alex, but also wants to be treated fairly and with respect. But the Safe Word that brings restraint also guarantees expulsion with no chance of return for Tony, but Alex is trapped and cannot leave.....ever.
Holy wow! hot and dark. Omg my mind is blown right now. What did I just read!? This was amazing!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I devoured this book! First read from this author and I am hooked, I want more!
This read is dark so check triggers. I honestly don’t know who’s the good person and who’s the bad, I have some ideas but the writing of each character is just so amazing! You will feel a lot of emotions reading this.
I love Tony and Ella. The plot is just amazing and you’ll be hooked. Enemies to lovers, hurt/comfort, romance, suspense, dark, and spicy. I hurt for Tony. I feel like this series is definitely going to get darker.
I 100% recommend if you enjoy dark reads. Will read more from this author and I can’t wait for the rest! 🤍🔥
This is the kind of darkness that isn't welcome in your home and in which you can easily sink into. It's also the darkness that can change a person's psyche and leave very deep emotional scars. It's a story about deep loneliness and serious abandonment issues. Ethan is the "product" of a complicated family environment and upbringing - his parents' divorce left him adrift - but worse, and in fact the real problem for his total lack of self-esteem and self-worth, is the fact that he became the invisible child. His desperation and thirst to be seen, cherished and loved has become a slow burning, festering wound. Meeting Alex, his first boyfriend, and finally being a center of attention and care were like a dream come true. And keeping this newfound feeling of safety on all costs, turned into a priority. When Alex tried to break up with him, the darkness and danger came knocking. But Ethan wasn't capable of seeing the red flags and taking healthy decisions. In order to be with Alex he decided the jump blindly into the lifestyle of the hidden society Alex belonged to with only limited knowledge what lies ahead. The story unfolds from Ethan's POV so the feel of his struggles, fears, pain and psychological transformation was even more amplified and heartbreaking. He didn’t even know how wrong, twisted and far away from the real and safe BDSM practice, his own training was. He wanted to be where his Alèx was - his only safety net, that turned out not to be so safe after all; the only love or what he thought was love but was actually borderline obsession and pure fear of abandonment, of not being enough or worth the time and attention. The story was an endless loop of mind games and sensory overload. Definitely very well written and the triggers shouldn't be ignored. If dub con, slavery, sexual abuse aren't your thing, the reading won't be a pleasant experience.
Indoctrination by Medusa Stone is book one in The Underground series. After reading a previous series by this author I was already a fan of this author. The writing is addictive! So when I saw there was a new series coming out I had to read it! I will start this off the bat by saying to check your trigger warnings… this book is dark. What an intense read but I was addicted from the opening all the way until the very last word. I read this book in one sitting, not moving off my couch or lowering my kindle once. This book contains a secret society, (which I personally love to read about) and hardcore BDSM. It’s told from Tony’s POV after he’s left confused and hurt after what his boyfriend Alex tries to do. We go on this journey with him to track his love, Alex, to this society. Tony joins this world and that is where the BDSM comes into play. The writing in this was so good! The rollercoaster you go on while reading this book is absolutely the best… emotions really shine through. In my opinion you can really feel the love that Tony has for Alex and why he’s willing to go through all this. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book because I need more! Medusa Stone hands down is one of my favorite authors. The writing is just phenomenal in this book. Just remember this is a dark read, so please check your warnings.
Wow this read is off the charts with BDSM hotness and the author keeps you turning the pages. Tony is in love with Alex but is disappointed when Alex tries to break up with him because they can't be together. Alex is part of his family business and can no longer be with Tony. Tony does the only thing he can and wants to be part of the family training program. Alex isn't happy about doing so but relents after explaining everything to Tony. Tony is really put through everything he never expected, and there are times he wonders if it will be all worth it. But his love for Alex keeps him there. He has Ella, who helps him through the tough times and brings him food. They have to be quiet and discrete cos there is always someone "listening." I received an arc for my voluntary honest review for NNBB. If you love a hot BDSM romance with M/M, M/M/F, you will love this book. This book does end on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see what happens next. There may be some triggers for some people in this book, so heed the author's warnings. Medusa is a new to me author, and I can't wait to check out more of her books since I enjoyed this book so much.
Tony is in love with his boyfriend Alex until one day Alex breaks up with him suddenly. Tony doesn't understand why and follows Alex to finally get answers. What Alex reveals shocks Tony but he will do whatever it takes to stay with Alex including entering a world he knows nothing about. Alex explains the life he was born into as a trainer and tells Tony that he will have to be a submissive and go through training before they can be together again in the future. Tony is introduced to his Master and many other people and he struggles to understand why anyone would allow themselves to be used and punished yet he continues to stay in the hopes of finally getting to be with Alex. This book is definitely not for anyone with triggers. This series continues with a more in depth look into how Alex came to be a trainer and his family.
This is book 1 in a series that will continue, I recommend reading the trigger warnings prior to choosing this book as it may not be for everyone.
I personally don't have too many triggers and found this book to be very well written. Medusa Stone did a beautiful job in the telling of this story of Alexander and Tony. I cannot wait for the second book in the series to be released, as Indoctrination ended on a cliffhanger, I want to see where Medusa takes this story.
If you don't mind BDSM, MM, etc., I highly recommend reading this book. I caution to say as the parent of a now 25-year-old daughter, I wouldn't recommend this book for anyone younger than 20-21 years of age.
I loved this book! I really don't like giving reviews that give plot spoilers but I really loved this! There a few editing errors in it but don't let that distract you as it's currently being redone. I enjoyed Tony's entrance into this world and look forward to the rest of the stories to come! Please note that although billed as a dark romance, the romance takes a back seat in this book. If you don't like dark books, and even if you do, check the trigger warnings and make sure you are ready for this adventure to begin!
This book was so intense, full of twists, and played with my emotions. Tony is in a relationship with Alex and everything seems to be going perfectly, until Alex ends the relationship Unexpectedly and disappears. Tony is left heartbroken and confused. To find answers he decides to join The Underground as a trainee. Tony goes through so much while looking for answers. Will Tony find the answers he is looking for? Can't wait for the next book.
I'm not yet sure if I really like this story. It has its moments but I have not really connected with the main characters. Anthony seems not just in love but also obsessed with Alexander. I just don't understand why. Alex supposedly lone Anthony but allows him to be in a horrible situation. Again why? I'm holding my misgivings until I read the next book. Hopefully then I'll have been given more insight as to Why?
I was forewarned that this work was dark and possibly triggering. That it is. It is also lasciviously besmitan. Such work has it's place in the literary arc. Many did it well. Had Flynt or Guccione written novels, this might be in that wheelhouse. That said, the characters were well crafted and clearly willing to do anything for love. I've known such people.
Indoctrination is the first book in The Underground series by Medusa Stone and the first book I have read by this author. She did tell me about the triggers which to me is fine because I do read this material as well but make sure to check out the trigger warnings for yourself before you begin this book.
Tropes BDSM Extremely Dark Erotica MM Abuse
I would definitely recommend this book and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Indoctrination by Medusa Stone had me on edge for Tony. I mean my stomach clenched do tightly as I was feeling all the emotions he was going through. And this is due to the amazing writing of the author! I can’t wait to read what happens next!
This was a really great dark, and intense read. This is the first book in a new series and I just can't wait to see what comes next. Do heed the trigger warnings before reading. I loved being there and seeing everything through Tony's POV.
When Tony's boyfriend Alex dumps Tony joins a club to try to get Alex back. When he recognized that they were being treated badly he tried to figure out how to get away from there without getting caught. This is the first part of the story and it leaves on a cliffhanger and it is a dark story
Anthony makes a decision to go beyond limits for the one he loves. But is it enough? Becoming a sub wasn’t definitely not something he could have ever imagined but in the end was it worth it? It was a good book with some dark elements. It ends on a cliffhanger so you definitely want to continue to see what happens to Alex after all of this. I enjoyed the read.
This is truly a dark BDSM novel with romantic elements. The book is told from Tony’s POV, and we get to go on this journey with him into this secret society of some underground BDSM world. We are as in the dark as Tony is. We begin the journey after Alex has broken up with Tony and Tony has been following Alex to try and figure out why. He’s confused and heartbroken. Alex seems to genuinely care and love Tony, but really, we don’t know what is up with Alex other than he belongs to this society and the things he claims. Tony joins up to become a trainee submissive to this society and boy is it harsh. Here we meet several new characters and are immersed in a confusing world of hardcore BDSM that isn’t at all safe, sane or entirely consensual at times. At this point I wouldn’t call this a romance yet. This is a long journey for Tony and there might be romantic aspects because he is in love with Alex and Alex in love with him, this first installment focuses on the training and BDSM and the conditioning. Because make no mistake on this, Tony is definitely being groomed and conditioned. The writing is superb, the sexy scenes are sensual, dark and hot. I have so many questions, along with Tony! I can’t wait to see what happens next and how the next leg of the adventure shapes up. While I wouldn’t classify this as a romance yet, it is amazingly well done, and I look forward to how the romance shapes up and hopefully a well deserted HEA for our main character.
Great start to the series. Hard to read in parts. Loved Tony and Alex from the start. Please read the trigger warnings. This first book certainly got me hooked. I can definitely recommend it. As it’s a continuing story I’m glad I at least had the first three books.
Wow, just wow. I read this book in mere hours, I was consumed from the first moment.
I felt so many emotions throughout this entire book. I never knew if I felt angry, sad, confused, or even happy for Tony. It was a roller coaster of emotions from the very beginning. Everything Tony thought or felt I was right there with him. Did we love Alex or did we hate him? I genuinely don't know how I feel.
While this book had some aspects I usually don't read but I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. It was so good I was able to pull away from those things and separate them from the story.
Definitely will be reading the next book!
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion.
Indoctrination is the first book in the new The Underground series by Medusa Stone. This is a very dark BDSM story with traces of romance in it. Because the book is so dark make sure you read the trigger warnings. This is Tony's story and told from his point of view. This book kept me turning the pages to find out what happens next, it really was keeping my attention. I love the writing style and the BDSM steam. I would definitely recommend this book and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
This was a raw, intense, gritty and dark book. I won't delve into too much because I don't want to give anything away. I went on a thrilling, white knuckled roller coaster ride of emotions and it's still not over. I'm desperately waiting for the continuation of this series.
