About the author

Since the emergence of mankind Himalayas attracted every generation. Reaching Himalaya and stride over it is a long cherished dream passion of many. But only a few are fortunate to reach the expeditious destination. Mr. M. K. Ramachandran being one of them has been involved in his spiritual adventure since 1998 and known to be the most venerated ambassador of Himalayan journeys in Kerala. He has been pioneered into the most decorated Garhwal Himalayas, sacred destinations of Kumaon Himalaya, Majestic Eastern Himalayas, and trekked through summits and snow clad peaks of Himachal Himalayas. കൈലാസപർവതം ശിവ-പാർവതിമാരുടെ വാസസ്ഥാനമായി വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇത് ചൈന കയ്യടക്കിവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന തിബത്തിലാണ്. ആദികൈലാസം പരമശിവൻ സതിയോടൊപ്പം കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന ആദ്യവാസസ്ഥാനമാണ്. ഉത്തരാഖണ്ഡിലെ പിത്തോറാഗഡ് ജില്ലയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ പ്രദേശത്തെ ചൊല്ലി ഭാരതവും നേപ്പാളും തമ്മിൽ അതിർത്തിത്തർക്കവുമുണ്ട്.നിത്യഹിമപാതമേഖലയായ ഇവിടെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഓം പർവതം പ്രത്യേകശ്രദ്ധയർഹിക്കുന്നു. വളരെ ഉയരമുള്ള ഈ പർവതത്തിന്റെ ഉച്ചിയോടടുത്ത ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ മഞ്ഞുവീണുകിടക്കുന്നത് ദൂരെ നിന്നുനോക്കിയാൽ സംസ്കൃതാക്ഷരമായ ഓം (ॐ) പോലെ തോന്നിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. തികച്ചും യാദൃശ്ചികമായ ഭൗമ-പർവതചലനങ്ങൾ മൂലം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുള്ളതാണെങ്കിലും ഈ അസാധാരണമായ സാദൃശ്യം ആശ്ചര്യം ജനിപ്പിക്കുന്നതാണ് - അപ്പോൾ വിശ്വാസികളുടെ കാര്യം പറയേണ്ടതില്ലല്ലോ. ദിവസങ്ങൾ നീളുന്ന ട്രെക്കിംഗ് വഴിയാണ് സംഘം ലക്ഷ്യസ്ഥാനത്തെത്തുന്നത്. യാത്ര വളരെ കഠിനമാണ്. നദീതീരത്ത്, പർവതങ്ങളുടെ വശത്തുകൂടി വെട്ടിയുണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന വഴികൾക്ക്‌ പലപ്പോഴും ഒന്നോ രണ്ടോ അടി വീതിയേ ഉണ്ടാകൂ. ഏതു നിമിഷവും ഉണ്ടായേക്കാവുന്ന മലയിടിച്ചലിനെ വകവെക്കാതെ നടന്നുനീങ്ങുന്ന യാത്രക്കാർക്ക് ഭീഷണിയായി മഴയും കൊടുങ്കാറ്റും മഞ്ഞുവീഴ്ചയും. പ്രകൃതി നിരത്തുന്ന പ്രതിബന്ധങ്ങളെ മറികടന്നു നീങ്ങുന്ന യാത്രികർ വളരെ കൃത്യമായ സസ്യാഹാരരീതിയും പാലിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ട്. മിക്കദിവസങ്ങളിലും ലേഖകന് ലഭിക്കുന്നത് രോട്ടിയും കിഴങ്ങുകറിയും വെണ്ടക്കാത്തോരനും മാത്രമാണ്!

യാത്രചെയ്യുന്ന സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം നാട്ടുകാരോട് ഇണങ്ങിച്ചേരാൻ അന്യാദൃശമായ കഴിവാണ് രാമചന്ദ്രൻ പ്രദർശിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. എളുപ്പത്തിൽ ആരോടും സൗഹൃദം സ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നതായിരിക്കണം ലേഖകന്റെ വാക്ചാതുരിയും ഭാഷാസ്വാധീനവും. പരിചയപ്പെടുന്നവരോടെല്ലാം താൻ കൈലാസയാത്രയും അതിന്റെ പരിക്രമണവും കാൽനടയായാണ് നടത്തിയതെന്നു പറയാൻ മടി കാണിക്കുന്നില്ല. ഈ ഇഴുകിച്ചേരൽ തദ്ദേശീയമായ ഒട്ടനവധി വിവരങ്ങളും മിത്തുകളും നാടോടിക്കഥകളും ലേഖകനു മുന്നിൽ തുറന്നുവെയ്ക്കുന്നു.വഴിയിൽ കണ്ടുമുട്ടുന്നവരുമായി സുഖാന്വേഷണം നടത്താനും സാമ്പത്തികബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകൾ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവരെ സഹായിക്കാനും അദ്ദേഹം തയ്യാറാകുന്നുണ്ട്.

ഹിമാലയത്തിന്റെ ആധ്യാത്മികമഹത്വം വളരെ ഉന്നതിയിലാണ് നിലകൊള്ളുന്നതെങ്കിലും കേരളീയരായ ഭൂരിപക്ഷം പേർക്കും ഇതേക്കുറിച്ച് സാമാന്യജ്ഞാനം പോലും ഇല്ല എന്ന കുറവുനികത്താനായി 'അസ്ത്യുത്തരസ്യാം ദിശി ദേവതാത്മാ' എന്നു പേരിട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന, പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ മൂന്നിലൊന്നോളം വരുന്ന ഒരധ്യായം ലേഖകൻ നീക്കിവെയ്ക്കുന്നു. 112 പേജ് വരുന്ന ഈ അദ്ധ്യായം ഒന്നു കടന്നുകിട്ടുവാൻ കൈലാസയാത്രയുടെ കാഠിന്യം വായനക്കാർ അനുഭവിക്കണം. യോഗവിദ്യയുടെ അത്ഭുതസിദ്ധികൾ വിവരിക്കാനെന്ന മട്ടിൽ അബദ്ധജടിലമായ കുറെ പരാമർശങ്ങൾ നിരത്തി ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിന്റെ വിശ്വസനീയത നഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. ഉത്തരാഖണ്ഡിൽ ധ്യാനനിരതരായിരുന്ന ഋഷിമാരാണ് ദിവ്യസിദ്ധി വഴി 1962-ൽ ചൈനീസ് സൈന്യത്തിനെ തുരത്തിയത് എന്നദ്ദേഹം അവകാശപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ നാമെന്തുത്തരം പറയും? ഭൂമിയിലൊരിടത്തും രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടില്ലാത്ത -80 ഡിഗ്രി സെൽഷ്യസ് എന്ന താപനിലയിലും ഋഷികൾ പുതപ്പുപോലുമില്ലാതെ ധ്യാനനിമഗ്നരായി ഇരിക്കുന്നണ്ടത്രേ. ഇതിനെല്ലാം തെളിവ് എന്ന മട്ടിൽ യോഗവിദ്യ നിമിത്തം സത്യസായിബാബ ഹിമാലയപർവതത്തിനു മുകളിലേക്ക് ഉടലോടെ ഉയർന്നതിന്റെ ഫോട്ടോയും നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു! മനസ്സിനെ ധ്യാനനിരതമാക്കുന്നതുമൂലം ഒരു മറാത്തി സ്ത്രീ ഒഴുക്കോടെ ബംഗാളി ഭാഷ സംസാരിച്ചതായി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന രാമചന്ദ്രൻ പക്ഷേ സത്യസായിബാബ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പഠിക്കാൻ ജീവിതാവസാനം വരെ ശ്രമിച്ചിട്ടും നടന്നില്ല എന്ന വസ്തുത വിസ്മരിക്കുന്നു. യോഗികൾക്ക് ഗുരുത്വാകർഷണം മറികടന്ന് വായുവിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കാനാകുമെന്നു പറയുന്നതിനോടൊപ്പം തന്നെ, വായുവിനെ നീക്കം ചെയ്ത് വാക്വം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചാൽ ഗുരുത്വം ഇല്ലാതാകുമെന്ന അബദ്ധധാരണയും പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. രസായനവിദ്യ (alchemy) ഇന്ത്യയിൽ വിജയിച്ചുവത്രേ! കഴിഞ്ഞ നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ പോലും ചെമ്പിനേയും രസത്തിനെയും സ്വർണമാക്കിയിരുന്നുവെന്നാണ് അവകാശവാദം. വളരെ ഗുരുതരമായ അപകടം വരുത്തിവെച്ചേക്കാവുന്ന ഒരു തെറ്റിദ്ധാരണയും പുസ്തകത്തിലൂടെ നല്കുന്നുണ്ട്. രസം (mercury) ഗുളികരൂപത്തിലാക്കി സേവിക്കുന്നതുവഴി ശരീരത്തിന് സൗന്ദര്യവും വശ്യതയും വർധിക്കുന്നു, മാത്രമല്ല പ്രത്യേകമായൊരു സുഗന്ധവും ആ ദേഹത്തിന് കൈവരുന്നുവത്രേ (പേജ് 236). രസം സേവിച്ചാൽ മാരകമായ ആരോഗ്യപ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ നേരിടേണ്ടിവരുമെന്നതാണ് പരമാർത്ഥം.

ഭാരതീയ തത്വചിന്തയുടെ ആധുനികസാംഗത്യം തെളിയിക്കാൻ ഒറ്റനോട്ടത്തിൽ ശാസ്ത്രീയമെന്നു തോന്നിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കുറെ സംഗതികൾ കൊടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. എന്തിനും ആധുനികശാസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെ പിൻബലം വേണമെന്ന് ലേഖകൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു. പരിണാമസിദ്ധാന്തം അംഗീകരിക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ ഋഷിമാർ ആയിരക്കണക്കിനു വർഷം ജീവിക്കുമെന്ന വിചിത്രധാരണയും പുസ്തകം പുലർത്തുന്നു. ഏതെങ്കിലും കാര്യത്തിൽ വിദൂരസാമ്യമെങ്കിലും ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ഭാരതം ആയിരക്കണക്കിനു വർഷം മുൻപേ ഈ സത്യം കണ്ടെത്തിയിരുന്നുവെന്ന് അവകാശമുയരുന്നു.ബ്രഹ്മ-വിഷ്ണു-മഹേശ്വരചൈതന്യം തന്നെയാണ് അണുവിലെ പ്രോട്ടോണ്‍-ന്യൂട്രോണ്‍-ഇലക്ട്രോണ്‍ എന്നത്! (പേജ് 138). ഭാരതീയചിന്ത ശാസ്ത്രവുമായ�� വഴിപിരിയുന്ന ഘട്ടങ്ങളിൽ രാമചന്ദ്രന് പറയാനുള്ളത് ശാസ്ത്രം ഇനിയും കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടില്ലാത്ത മേഖലയാണ് അത് എന്നാണ്. ശുദ്ധഅസംബന്ധങ്ങളായ ആശയങ്ങൾ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് ലേഖകൻ നിർലോഭം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന പദപ്രയോഗങ്ങളാണ് 'എന്നാണു കേൾവി', 'എന്നാണു പറയുന്നത്', 'എന്നാണു കരുതുന്നത്', 'ഉണ്ടത്രേ' എന്നിവ.

1998-ൽ പുറപ്പെട്ട കൈലാസയാത്രാസംഘത്തിന് മാൽപ്പ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുവെച്ച് ശക്തമായ മലയിടിച്ചലിനെ നേരിടേണ്ടിവന്നു. ഏതാണ്ട് 270 പേർ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട ഈ ദുരന്തത്തിന് കാരണമായി ലേഖകൻ കരുതുന്നത് സംഘാംഗമായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീ ലെയ്സൻ ഓഫീസറുമായി നടത്തിയെന്നു പറയപ്പെടുന്ന സദാചാരവിരുദ്ധ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളാണ് (പേജ് 49). അതായത്, തെറ്റുചെയ്ത രണ്ടുപേരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ദൈവം സംഘത്തെ മുഴുവൻ കൊലയ്ക്കുകൊടുത്തുവെന്ന്! ഇത് ദൈവനിന്ദയല്ലെങ്കിൽ മറ്റെന്താണ്?ഏതായാലും മാനനഷ്ടക്കേസ് ഭയന്നാകാം, അദ്ദേഹം സംഘാംഗത്തിന്റെ പേര് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നില്ല. പക്ഷേ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈലാസയാത്രാപുസ്തകത്തിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധ നർത്തകിയായിരുന്ന പ്രൊതിമ ബേദി യാത്രയ്ക്കിടയിലെ ക്യാമ്പുകളിൽ നൃത്തം ചെയ്തിരുന്നുവെന്ന് അമർഷത്തോടെ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്നുണ്ട്.ആദികൈലാസസംഘത്തിലും രണ്ടുപേർ അനാശാസ്യപ്രവർത്തനം നടത്തിയതുവഴി ഗുൻജി ക്യാമ്പ് എത്തുന്നതുവരെ പ്രകൃതി വളരെ പ്രതിബന്ധങ്ങൾ സമ്മാനിച്ചു എന്നു പറയുന്നു. പക്ഷേ പുസ്തകം ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുവായിക്കുന്നവർ കാണുന്നത് ഹിമാലയയാത്രയുടെ പ്രത്യേകതയായ പ്രകൃതിക്ഷോഭങ്ങൾ യാത്രയിലുടനീളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെന്നാണ്. അപ്പോൾ ഗുൻജി കഴിഞ്ഞും അസാന്മാർഗികം നടത്തിയത് ആരാണാവോ!

It is one of a gem of a travelogue in Malayalam literature. Picked this book after hearing a review from one of my friends and I have to admit, it is really amazing. Mixing mythology and his personal account of his journey to the sacred land of Lord Shiva, the author has succeeded in writing a book that will grip the reader till the very end. The book gives a magical vibe about Mt. Kailash and such is the writers skill that it takes us along with him as he travels past the rugged terrain to the destination. Well explained, an easy to understand narrative, I would recommend this to the travel lovers and it is a must read for those who wants to visit My Kailash once in their lifetime.

A good book. Instead of being a pure travelogue, the book dives also into spirituality and mysticism. This maybe a deal breaker for some. Almost 25% of the book deals with Yoga, yogis and their powers, Alchemy, Shangri-La, etc. The author is not taking a pleasure trip into the Himalayas, but a spiritual journey - almost a pilgrimage. This is evident the way in which the events are being presented. So, one, while taking to read the book, shouldn't expect an objective narration.

Good, it has provided a lot about the world that I don't know. First, to know about the other world where the astral body exists and receives another physical body and lives in it.
