The Book of Mormon: A Pattern for Parenting

Rate this book
This book is an excellent resource for members of the church of LDS who want their children to grow up with the same values and structure that they themselves were exposed to. Additionally, especially for converts, it is another resource to teach their children values they were not necessarily raised.

My husband took a class from the author's husband at BYU and it was one of his favorites, so I figured it would definitely be worth a read. I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I enjoyed this book! There are a lot of great parenting principles, most of which can be found in other places, but I loved seeing the scriptural basis for them, and I was amazed at how much the BOM can be applied to parenting. I guess this shouldn't surprise me, since God's primary role is that of Father, but I guess it's something that's easy to forget sometimes. This book is now on my "To Purchase" list because it's one I'd like to read every couple years or so to remind me of what I should be doing as a parent.

Who counldn't use more help in parenting? This is a great resource for parenting topics. The author uses stories and references from the book of mormon to back up certain techniques and styles of parenting that really work.

I absolutely love this book! It's made my scripture study more meaningful and directed at helping my family. I have tons of lesson ideas for FHE too. I plan to keep this one handy to pull out for reference when I want to teach the kids something important. Super, super Book!!!

I bought this book years ago and just found it again last week. I'm enjoying it so far! I love that the whole book talks about using God's words as our pattern; afterall, He is truly the Expert.

Nope, not the book for me. I agreed with the points, but I didn't feel like it told me how to do any of them...

What an eye-opener into the world of using the scriptures as a parenting tool. I learned more from this than any parenting book so far.

Motivational books are great. But books that turn you back to the scriptures and prayer for answers are in their own class. This book does a good job at pulling relevant examples.
