Rate this book
What do you do when “the change” happens before you’re ready for it? Menopause is a natural part of aging, but sometimes it comes too soon, precipitated by hysterectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, anorexia, premature ovarian failure and other conditions. In Sudden Menopause, young women facing the trauma of unanticipated menopause are given the information and support they need to adjust to the impact it has on their lives. This book tackles topics of immediate concern, such as hot flashes and emotional and cognitive changes as well as long-term health issues, including osteoporosis and heart disease. Other topics include: The author’s personal experience of sudden menopause and her expertise as a women’s health practitioner allow her to thoroughly explore the options available to women experiencing menopause. She has worked with and talked to dozens of women, and their case studies, interviews and comments help to reassure the reader that she can confidently navigate her way through sudden menopause.

Some useful information, however I disagree about the soy consumption she suggests. Soy, unless it's fermented is not good for you so I'll be avoiding that.

this is the only book that actually helped me before and after my surgery. it is affirming and full of useful information. it addresses issues of permanent and temporary menopause in a clear way without using the scare tactics that many pro-feminist books do in regards to hysterectomies and when we choose to have one.
