I never planned on being a father, but getting my high school sweetheart pregnant changed my idea of the future. We created a new plan. A new dream. One that included the sweetest little girl. Carrie and I were supposed to raise Phoenix together but losing her slashed those dreams and broke a piece of me.
A piece I never thought I’d have again.
I never planned to move on. I was resigned to being the best single-dad I could be, but Haley Rivers turned my plans upside down when she blew back into my life, bringing back a light I hadn’t realized burned out. She’s my best friend. The woman I love.
This book needed an editor badly. It’s also single dad and dead ex tropes.
So why 4 stars? Because I DESPISE the single dad trope. I HATE the dead ex trope. HATE them both. And yet even with these tropes and the bad editing I really really enjoyed the hell out of this book
I NEVER felt the heroine was second best. The H and his wife were broken up when she died from cardiac arrest during labor after suffering from preeclampsia. He wasn’t still in love with her. He felt guilty she died and wished she were alive for his daughter but never wished for her back for himself. He wasn’t in love with her.
There were several times the single dad trope pissed me off. Like at the end after the house fire. He KNEW his daughter was fine after the h saved her life from the fire. He did NOT know the h would be ok yet left her and sent her BFF with her in the ambulance to stay with his perfectly fine daughter who had family with her. Little shit like that pissed me off. He wouldn’t do anything without his 7 year old daughter’s consent- he wouldn’t even be with the h if his daughter wasn’t in love with her too. (His daughter loves the h she is the only mother figure she’s ever had and is very involved with her)
Now I’m a single mom, but my son does not 100% dictate who I can date. Now if there were a reason for him to hate someone I dated that person would be gone. But if he just didn’t want me to marry bc he wanted my attention solely on him or something and I’m madly in love then tough shit. You can’t let a 7 year old decide your life. Yes you put them first but you can’t make them your life decision makers. Now my son is 15 and I have not dated since he was born but that’s a personal choice. If this guy knew he wouldn’t keep the h if his daughter didn’t approve then it was unfair to become involved with her to start
But again with all of that I really liked this book. So while it’s a solid 3 star I felt like if the author still kept me invested with all of the above, then it deserved another star.

I’ve been wanting Asher’s story for the longest time because of the attraction this broody single dad feels towards his best friend. I knew the struggle that he feels was going to put them through the emotional ringer and it did.
“ Because you, Haley Rivers, are the bomb.com. “
She did an amazing job of breaking up the emotional moments with one’s that had me laughing out loud and all the shout out to a lot of my favourite sitecoms had me eating up this read.
Haley has always loved her best friend but she felt like anything between them would be impossible. She has settled on the idea of just being there for his and his adorable daughter Nix.
“ So yes, I went on dates. I tried, Ash. I truly tried to get over you. I haven’t, but I will.”
“I don’t want you to get over me”
There is quite a bit of miscommunication in this book that has Asher chasing after Haley to explain certain things and I appreciated that they didn’t shy away from the hard topics.
I loved watching their story unfold as they work through the obstacles that are keeping them apart. But when Asher decides he is all in, watch out for this sweet man because he will take your heart.
I’ve really enjoyed this small town series and I can’t wait for it to continue.
Have you ever read a book where you loved it and it left you speechless (in a good way) cause you don’t know how to explain how much you loved it? Meet ‘Asher’ by K.L. Mott !!!
Asher & Haley are the cutest!! Their story definitely had a vibe compared to the first two in the series which was nicely refreshing. I loved Asher’s healing journey and the way that they fought for their happy ending. Haley's love for making tv show/ movie references was fantastic and I loved that we saw a deeper, more vulnerable side to her compared to the other books. Bless K.L for a no third act breakup because I didn’t realise how much I needed to read a book like that til now. Literally what’s not to love about a small town, found family series with plot twists, strong FMC’s and MMC’s who are obsessed with their girl.
Honestly if you’re like me and like to binge read series then this is the perfect palette cleanser before we get back into the next book. Beyond grateful to have gotten a copy of this and am leaving this review voluntarily <3
If you love a single dad mixed with friends-to-lovers trope, then this one is for you.
Haley and Asher are two friends who have feelings for each other but are afraid to act on them. Both have their reasons, but one drunken night changes everything. What happens that changes things? Will they admit their feelings? Read to find out.
This was so so good. I loved Hales. I loved Asher. But I loved Nix more (Asher's daughter). Her relationship with Haley was just so good.
I'm definitely going back to read Mason and Cam's book. I hope Gray gets a book too.
Single parent, best friends to lovers…those two tropes are what drew me in!
This is book 3 in the Sweet Springs series and let me just tell ya, these books keep getting better and better! I have always been intrigued by Asher in the previous books, he was always the moody brother/friend/single dad that you just wanted to know more about him. You would get little glimpses of him as a dad with his daughter Phoenix and from those glimpses you just know he is a great, loving dad.
I am so happy he got his story told, it is heartbreaking but also the sweetest with a little bit frustration thrown in there lol. Asher and Haley are best friends. Haley is always over helping him with Phoenix and just hanging out. How he didn’t see her love, more than a friendship love, for him I don’t know. There is that little frustration for ya! The tension between these two could be seen coming off the pages of the book!!
Haley has had her crush on Asher since high school but she never did anything about it, she didn’t want to lose her best friend. You know your typical friends to lovers trope. But you could see that they were meant/perfect for each other. And can we talk about how she is with his daughter and the love she has for her!! Just adored their relationship so much!
Asher and Haley get their HEA and it was such an amazing story to read…even with those frustrating times lol. . . . 4️⃣.5️⃣⭐️ 🌶️🌶️ 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 9/10 recommendation❗️
This book was so good!! A tale of two people who loved each other but both were afraid to act on that feeling. Asher had suffered loss already and is too afraid of losing someone else he loves so he keeps Haley in the friend zone to protect his heart. Haley is too afraid of losing Asher as a friend and protects her heart after overhearing Asher say he doesn’t love her. After waking up in Vegas realizing the two had taken a step that causes them to finally talk and admit their feelings, the two start to realize that they had both been wrong to hide their true feelings before. A quick read full of spice and sweet moments too!
Another K.L. Mott book that I absolutely adore. this is one of those books where you need a quick read, but something that will make you feel all giddy inside.
The whole entire time Asher kept Haley at arms length so he wouldn't get hurt due to the past trauma, but the whole entire first half of the book you're just rooting for Asher to just come to his senses and just say efff it & kiss her. & when that moment happens it's just the sweetest thing.
There's something about a duo of a single father with the sweetest kid that just makes the whole book. I've never been one to reach for single parent books, or books where kids are involved but I can fully admit I'm a sucker for them now & K.L. Mott completely made me fall deeper into that hole.
Tropes: Single Father || Dual POV || Small-Town || Friends to Lovers || Virgin FMC
Asher, the third book in the Sweet Springs series, is an off limits/grump sunshine/dad and nanny/friends to lovers romance. Author K.L. Mott gives you all the feels by providing strong characters, undeniable chemistry and a storyline readers won't be able to walk away from. FMC Haley has everything going for her, a job she loves, great friends and family, the only things she doesn't have is the man she is secretly crushing on Asher. They said they are just friends, but what she feels for him is so much more. Asher and Nix are her whole world, but she feels like all Asher sends her is mixed signals and she doesn't know what he really wants. MMC Asher lost his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Carrie, and was left as a single dad to raise Nix on his own. Haley was a godsend, beautiful, smart and exactly what him and Nix needed in their lives but was he really ready to try again? To put his heart on the line, to love someone again with the risk of losing them? He couldn't deny the chemistry between them, but wasn't sure if Haley felt the same. Can Haley trust Asher not to break her heart and can Asher finally put it all on the line and admit how he feels to Haley? This book is 5🌟 and the spice is amazing 😏🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️! Don't miss out on this read!I Received a free ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When I read Camden's story in February, I was really excited to read Asher and Haley. Now that I've read their story, I'm totally hooked on this series, this small town, and I can't wait for more—Grayson, I mean! Asher and Haley are so meant to be. I love how Asher is there for her and keeps pushing for what he wants. I love what a great father he is to Nix and how he is Hales' best friend. Haley is amazing. I love her to pieces. She is fierce, strong, and so focused on her happiness. I love how, despite every "mistake" happening to them, she still looks after herself and Nix. I love their little family and how the girls support each other every time. I really love this story because, besides all the romance and passion, there's always a real story, a great plot behind it. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
First time author for me. I enjoyed Haley and Asher’s story. This is book three and I didn’t feel like I needed to read the others before this. I do, however plan on reading the others. Thank you for this ARC. This is an honest review.
I love this crew! I think a couple is my favorite, then I read the next book & fall in love with their story. Asher & Haley’s story sucked me in and wouldn’t let me go. So sweet, yet spicy & even had some drama sprinkled in. Truly enjoyed this one! Whose story is next? Stella??
