As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.
My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.
My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with. I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.
I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters. When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!
This is book seven in The Baytown Heroes series and it is Sam and Hayley’s story and omg it is definitely a must read but get the tissues ready because you are going to need them. When Sam’s best friend Edward married Hayley he was really happy for them and spent a lot of time with them as they were all like family especially when Hayley gave Edward two beautiful children but then tragedy struck and Edward was killed in the line of duty and Sam vowed to always be there to protect and take care of Hayley and the children especially as Sam and Hayley had become so close and close friends while sharing there grief after losing Edward. When Sam started having feeling for Hayley and she eventually got a boyfriend Sam realised that he needed to move away if he had any chance of moving forward with his life because he couldn’t deal with seeing Hayley in a relationship and even though he would always be there for her and the children he got a job as a detective on the Eastern Shore in Virginia giving Hayley a chance to also move forward with her life. When things changed for Hayley and Sam offered her a place where he lived he was surprised when she said yes and the children were also excited to be near Sam so they could see him more and also Sam could support and be there for them while hiding his feelings. Sam and Hayley had a unique connection and relationship and the attraction and chemistry between them was so strong and when they decided to tell each other how they feel and come together as a couple it was absolutely beautiful and explosive and the harder they fell in love and wanted to tell the children even though they didn’t know how they would react even though Sam had always been in there lives. Just when things were going so well bodies are found in Sam’s back garden causing total chaos and then danger arrives putting Hayley in the crossfire but will they be able to take down the threat before it takes away Sam and Hayley’s future happiness as a family. Wow this book takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions after Sam and Hayley try to go through life after such a big loss and I loved how Sam stepped up to the plate and be there for Hayley at the most difficult time in their lives and to me he was such a great man and total hero. The outcome was just what I was hoping for after so much heartbreak and this book was written with so much care and compassion on a difficult subject and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by Maryann Jordan who is a amazing author and writer and you will not be disappointed while reading her books and I can’t wait to read more in the future.
This is a beautiful heartwarming love story about Sam and Hayley who first meet when he becomes best friends with her husband, Edward. Both Sam and Edward were police officers in the Newport News police force. Eventually, all three of them formed such a strong bond that they spent most of their free time together. Sam was so close to Edward’s son, Eddie, that he declares that Sam is his “honorary” uncle.
When Edward is killed during his shift, Sam, Eddie and Hayley, who is now pregnant, are devastated. Sam promises his deceased friend that he will always take care of Edward’s family. Thus, in spite of his own grief, he heroically devotes his time to helping Hayley and Eddie cope with Edward’s death. He even supports Hayley during the birth of the new daughter, Hope. The truth is that I too was devastated because the loss of this wonderful character was hard to accept.
Unfortunately, Sam is offered a better position in another town which he eventually accepts. He leaves Hayley, Eddie and Hope behind when he moves to Baytown to become a detective. As expected, everyone is miserably unhappy with that arrangement.
This is a fantastic story. Maryann Jordan skillfully paints a clear, detailed picture of this perfect friendship. The love, respect and emotional strength they all have for each other is unusual, but beautiful to behold. As a result, readers immediately fall in love with every character in this story.
Readers will cry at the death of Edward, cheer when the family is able to move on with their lives afterwards, and ecstatically scream when Sam and Hayley finally express their love for each other. On the other hand, readers will be surprised and very upset when family members encounter a shocking suspenseful issue that will completely complicate theirs perfect lives.
What happens to them? How do they finally get together? Read this book to find out.
This read shot straight to my heart with Sam and Hayley’s story that spanned over 10 years. Friends first as Sam was best friends with Edward, Hayley’s husband, and was partners with him on the police force until tragedy struck. Widowed with a young son and another baby on the way, Hayley leans on Sam for support. The two become best friends, with Sam being there for her and her children every step of the way throughout the years. Somewhere along the way, the feelings grow into more for both of them but neither wants to say anything, the fear of losing the friendship is strong especially if one of them doesn’t feel the same way. It’s time for Hayley to move on with her life and start dating, it’s been years since Edward has passed but she decides to date someone other than Sam, which breaks his heart. Not wanting to stand in her way and finding it difficult to see her with another man, he accepts a job with Baytown police force as a detective and moves away. The distance and heartbreak is very real for both of them and when Eddie starts having issues in school, Hayley, Eddie and Hope visit Sam….and their time has finally come after 10 years with the first step of Hayley and the kids moving to be with Sam. OH MY the tissues were at hand many many many times throughout this read, heartbreak, heartache, grief, love, friends to lovers, a roller coaster of emotions. I LOVED this book, LOVED the characters, LOVED their journey and reading how their love blossomed over the years, LOVED how they finally became more than friends and took a chance, LOVED the bit of suspense and what was discovered, LOVED the no drama, and no other women or men getting in the way, LOVED the family these four were before and after the move, LOVED the ending and had to grab more than just a few tissues to be able to finish the book. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Plain and simply put Always A Hero is an outstanding second chance romance. As always, Maryann Jordan has created characters that are easy to like and identify with and surrounded with a story that many can relate to. You'll quickly become invested in and come to care about them. The emotions are deep, strong and palpable. There are a few bumps along the way, a couple of nysterious findings and a bit of danger from an unexpected source. Another plus is that favorites from previous Baytown books make appearances and it's like visiting old friends. I honestly don't know how it can get much better.
Sam Shackley and Hayley Brooks share a common bond, Edward Brooks. He's Sam's best friend and fellow police officer and he's Hayley's beloved husband. Sam and Hayley's bond only strengthens after Edward's line of duty death. They draw closer as they navigate their grief. Sam becomes Hayley's rock and a touchstone for her two children. He's their protector, a shoulder to cry on, an advisor and a pseudo dad for the kids. Somewhere along the way both of them develop more than friendship feelings but hesitate to cross a line that could destroy their bond. Serendipity steps in and has Hayley along with Hope and Eddie moving to Baytown and living next door to Sam. The close proximity gives way to admitting and exploring feelings. Their family unit solidifies as their feelings grow stronger. A couple of surprising discoveries put Sam on edge and Hayley in peril. Sam's tenacity solves the mystery and they get the happily ever after they so richly deserve.
Maryann Jordan, what are you trying to do to me??!! This book pulled at every single heartstring I possess!!
What an absolutely phenomenal read!! So much depth and heart rendering emotions, it literally and figuratively knocked me on my butt!!
Sam and Haley’s story was so damn beautiful. You can always count on Maryann to deliver but boy did she pack a punch with this story. The myriad of emotions sweep you off your feet and take you on the most spellbinding, heartfelt and unforgettable ride of your life.
The bond between Sam and Haley is solid and unshakeable. I adore how their love grew from their friendship. So heartfelt and utterly beautiful.
Sam is a beautiful character. His love for Haley all encompassing. Watching him as an integral part of their little family was both heartwarming and heart rendering.
I love his constant love, support and ever ending patience and understanding with those he loves. This is the kind of unrequited love we all yearn for.
Haley is such a strong character. I love her backbone and strength. Putting one step in front of the other after losing your husband is something I have experience of, and as painful as it was to read I thought that Maryann Jordan wrote this with the utmost understanding, empathy and respect.
Such an absolutely beautiful read that was made even better with the addition of the beautiful children.
Absolutely compelling and addictive read that will capture your heart from the first sentence.
Another fantastic book by Maryann Jordan. This was a wonderful way to go back to Baytown & boy did this book deliver in every way. I experienced so many emotions while reading this book & I can only say maje sure you have the Kleenex close.
Sam & Hayley are friends & have only gotten closer after a tragedy devastated both of their lives. Just when they both finally decide to take a chance & change their relationship from friends to more, their world is impacted by the discovery of a body on their property. While Sam is investigating the mystery of the body, Hayley is trying to research some information related to a job she is doing. Unbeknownst to her, this research is placing her in danger.
This book will pull at your heartstrings & make you experience all sorts of emotions. The depth of feelings between Sam & Hayley is something that is wonderful to experience & the emotional toll that these two characters go through just leaps off the page. At times, I forgot that I was reading a book of fiction; it was so realistic.
Maryann Jordan's books just keep getting better and better & just when I think her books can't get any better, boy, does she prove me wrong. I am super excited for the next book in the Baytown series & to catch up with the rest of the characters that I've grown to love. If you haven't read this series, give it a chance & you won't be disappointed.

Oh my!? What can I say? I have been waiting for Sam’s story and wow! What an emotional ride it was. Not so much a second chance story as it is a development from friends to lovers. It was clear from their meeting that Sam would have been interested in Hayley, but she was with his best friend, and he wouldn’t cross that line. But when Edward is killed in the line of duty, they both rely on each other for support as they grieve.
I must admit to a few tears while reading this, but Maryann Jordan wrote strong emotions and grief with such empathy that my tears felt right.
Ten years on from their first meeting and Sam is now living in Baytown and visiting Hayley and her kids as often as he can, but soon the opportunity comes for Hayley and her kids Eddie and Hope to move to Baytown.
Now there is always going to be something nefarious going on and after a red herring there is a skeleton found on Sam’s property. The investigation of this, and Hayleys coincidental involvement gives us an exciting time and the development of Hayley and Sam’s relationship plays out alongside this to great effect. Revisiting the Baytown cast of characters we all know and love was just the icing on the cake.
This isn’t insta love, but a relationship developing naturally over time and shared experiences, and I loved it. What a wonderful read, which I am sure to revisit time and again.
Tragedy and heartbreak lead to a different path and a second chance at happiness and romance for friends Sam Shackley and Hayley Brooks. Shared grief bought Sam and Hayley closer together, they became each others support mechanism and best friend. Sam vowed to always be there for Hayley and her two children and he became Hayley’s rock and sounding board. Somewhere along the way friendship turned into more but both are terrified of losing the friendship and rocking the boat by giving voice to their feelings. Hayley fears she is holding Sam back whilst Sam doesn’t want to get in the way of Hayley’s future happiness. When Sam takes the job he always dreamed of as a detective in North Heron Sheriff’s Department on the Eastern shore and moves away both feel the separation but fate intervenes and circumstances lead to Hayley and the children moving into the rental part of Sam’s house. As these two warm loving characters finally have a chance to explore their relationship as more than friends there are some skeletons waiting to cause trouble, mystery abounds, events intertwine and the plot thickens with a twist and when Hayley’s job puts her in danger will Sam be in time to save her. Wonderful slow burn romance in one of my favourite places. Highly recommend you read this friends to lovers, second chance, heartwarming story.
What an absolutely gorgeous 2nd chance love story! The story starts out in the past when Sam and Edward were best friends and Hayley, Edward's wife. The sad part is Edward died in the line of duty. Sam, the honorary uncle to Eddie and Hope, becames a member of the family. But Sam gets an opportunity to become a detective with the Baytown force and moves to the Eastern Shore. For a while Sam, Hayley and the kids see each other less and less.
Hayley makes the move with the kids and move to the Eastern Shore! Sam and Hayley and the kids get to spend a lot more with each other. Hayley loves that she becomes a member of the WAGS (wives and girlfriends) and enjoys the comraderie and community of the group. The kids are thriving with this move, meeting friends they'll have for life.
Watching both Sam and Hayley navigate friendship, family, and love is absolutely wonderful.
However, mysterious skeletons show up and now Sam and his peers need to solve the mystery. How are they connected? How did they end up there, in Sam's backyard? Oh how the plot thickens!
Absolutely a fantastic story. The descriptions of the Eastern Shore makes me want to visit and the community that is there makes me want to stay. I always love coming back to Baytown. I absolutely recommend this book!
I really enjoyed reading Always a Hero . This is a beautiful emotional romance with a bit of suspense . Sam and Edward were partners and best friends on the Newport News precinct Sam spent a lot of time with Edward and his wife Hayley . When they had their son Eddie he became a honorary uncle . When the unthinkable happens Sam vows to watch over Hayley and the kids . As the spend time together new feelings develop but they are afraid the other doesn't feel the same . As life moves forward Sam decides he must move on he doesn't want to watch Hayley fall for someone else , Sam now a detective moves to Virginia to work at North Heron Sheriffs Department. He purchases a duplex and Hayley and the kids visit often . The saying goes absence makes the heart grow fonder . After some trouble with the school Sam offers the other half of his duplex to her and the kids . They spend every moment they can together . The feelings are still there and they're tired of fighting them . They will work to build a life together of course things get a bit intense and Hayley finds herself in danger . This story is amazing and has such twists and turns you don't see coming . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
Wow! Sam's book was a little sad, who am I kidding it was a lot sad. Losing his best friend and promising to take care of his wife and son only to find out at Edwards death Hayley was pregnant. There story is a journey of long time friends that grows into a beautiful love. Eddie and Hope absolutely adored Sam. But when Sam thought it best to move on so Hayley could move on that didn't work so well for them.
I was so glad when Sam asked her to move to the shore after Eddie was having a rough time at school. Best move should could have made. The kids were flourishing at the Eastern Shore and made new friends. But when Eddie discovered archeology and wanted to be an archeologist and dig for dinosaur bones in Sam's back yard what he discovered were not dinosaur bones. But human remains. In fact when they were having a BBq with friends Eddie and Trevor along with Hope and two of the other kids discovered another set of human remains. (Me personally would have moved out of that house).
This was a really good read, and like I said a bit sad in the beginning but in the end all was set right. Oh speaking of end make sure you have a box of tissues. Those kids are priceless. Can't wait for Aaron's read but that won't release until August.
We are back in Baytown, and this time the story doesn’t center around one of the hometown “boys”, but rather, it belongs to newcomer, Detective Sam Shackley. For the past ten years, since the loss of his partner, Sam has been the constant support system to his partner’s widow, Hayley, and her children. He has feelings for her and loves the kids, but when she decides to date, he knows he can’t stay and watch her fall for someone else. The moment Sam moves, the kids miss him and Hayley realizes he’s taken her heart with him. But what happens after she decides to move to Baytown? Will the discoveries the kids make put them all in danger? Yes, the story was engaging and the characters wonderful, but it was more than that. It’s a reminder of the sacrifices the families of law enforcement officers make. It’s also a story about second chances in life and love. This was another touching and heartwarming story in the series. One in which the readers are able to “visit” with characters from previous stories. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Just when you think this series can't get any better, Maryann Jordan comes along with the Always A Hero. This is my new favorite book and the series. As a widow I really like how that part of this story was written. Sam and Hayley are an incredible couple. First, they deal with the grief of losing her husband and his best friend. Then how they support each other, is incredible. They both think they need to allow the other one to move on not realizing they are both developing feelings for each other.
When Hayley and they kids move to join Sam that's when the real drama begins. Just as they are discovering their love for each other and moving into a serious relationship the kids discover something that puts them in danger. As Sam and his fellow detectives work to solve the old unsolved murder bring on the drama. I love how all the Baytown Heroes come together to support help Sam solve this and keep his new family safe. This is another great, entertaining and exciting read that once you start you won't be able to put down. If I could give this more than 5 stars I definitely would.
Another beautiful addition to this amazing series. I love how, although this is one series, everyone is different. Different personal issues, different lifestyles, but the writing is always stellar. Any MaryAnn book will always have amazing atte tion to detail, a storyline that keeps your turning the pages and heroes you like and can relate to as well. I appreciate the discussion of military families as well as the work that both the American Legion and Auxiliary do in these communities. Sam and Hailey were definitely a slow burn. Although it began with a little heartbreak, I really enjoyed their story. It was really beautiful and a slow burn could be very sexy. In this case, it absolutely was, Sam was so sweet, and you just kept hoping they would atop dancing around each other and go for it! Whatever happens in Maryann's books is never what I expect, which I love! This trip to Baytown was one of my favorite, and as always, I can't wait until next time.
Always a Hero is Maryann Jordan’s latest Baytown novel and this book took me on an emotional rollercoaster! Sam is best friends (and partners) with Edward and his wife Hayley. Edward and Hayley begin building their family and Sam remains a close part of their family. When tragedy happens, Hayley is left pregnant and raising their son on her own. Sam steps in and over the years, their lives become intertwined. Sam and Hayley have feelings for each other, but neither knows, and each encourages the other to live their life. Sam eventually moves to Baytown to become a detective and both Sam, Hayley and the kids struggle with the distance. Hayley packs up her life and moves to Baytown and begins a life with Sam. Of course, there are a couple of bodies and a bad guy before they get their HEA but it was well worth the emotional ending. I received an authors copy and I have left an honest review.
Romances do not always develop in a linear line. Sam and Edward, police officers in Newport News, VA and Edward’s wife Haley have been close friends for years. Tragedy strikes and lives are changed. Sam never waivers in his support of his dear friend and her children, Eddie and Hope. After years of watching Haley from afar he decides it is time to move to Virginia’s Eastern Shore for a job as a police detective and to save his heart. Haley decides after several months to follow his cue for a new start. As their friendship morphs into romance Haley, Sam, Eddie, and Hope form a family. Unfortunately, a long-ago murder mystery is about to reveal itself and Haley just might be caught in the middle. I enjoyed this book very much. It shows how families are formed in many ways due to many circumstances out of our control. It also touches on how uncontrolled anger and jealousy can destroy lives in an instance. A wonderful addition to this series!
Sam was Edward’s best friend. Edward’s wife Haley was beautiful but Sam would never consider being anything but her friend. Then Edward is murdered and Sam steps in the take care of Edward’s wife and children. It’s a friends to lovers story as only Ms Jordan can tell.
Returning to the shores of Chesapeake Bay reunites the reader with so many old friends as Haley, Sam and the two kids are drawn into the community. All seems like a sleepy and quiet community, until it’s not.
As always the story is woven with just enough twists and turns, the reader knows something is coming but can’t quite figure out what. The characters are brilliantly crafted and seem as real as the people next door.
I always think the last Bayside book is my favorite and then the next one comes along. I can’t wait to see what’s next
Always a Hero is an emotionally gripping story of love built on friendship, loss and many years of caring. Maryann Jordan has written a story that will have you smile, laugh and cry all within pages of each other. This is part of the Baytown series so there are many secondary characters you may already know and love. The H/h are made for each other and their love was founded out of friendship. After the loss of Edward Hayley's husband and Sam's best friend Sam promised to always be part of the family's life. Their friendship never crossed any lines but as time passed they both were ready for a change. The storyline was handled with great tact and finess. All the characters were written with great heart and feeling. This book is one of the authors best stories with a emotional punch to the gut as these characters become a family. Highly recommended.
Whilst reading this book I actually felt like I was coming home… It was visiting old friends and getting to know new friends, it was seeing the next generation growing up.. They way they enveloped Haley, Sam and the kids was everything… Maryann created the most beautiful background and backstory to introduce us to the most wonderful relationship between Hayley Sam and the kids, even though it came from tragedy and heartbreak. It written with such respect and it did the situation justice….Edward was never forgotten, the last chapter had me in tears. Love turns in our lives in many ways and we are at times given second chances. Sam and Hayley needed to let go and provide space for each other for relationship to evolve. The interwoven story of the bodies and the mysteries that are unraveled leaves you heart broken and uplifted as justice is found. Maryann’s ability to make you feel as you read is a gift, I feel so privileged to be able to read and review this ARC.
I always enjoy stories from the Baytown families. A tight community where people actually care about each other. Sam and Edward are tight friends and colleagues in the police force. Sam adores Edward's wife Hayley and young son. A tragedy occurs leaving a pregnant widow and a good friend grieving. Promising to protect her always, time marches on. The children grow and Hayley accepts a date from a colleague. Sam decides it's time he moved on to into a new job in the Baytown community. It's not long before things happen and Hayley needs a fresh start for her kids, ending up next door to Sam. Something dug up in the yard not once but twice leads Sam on a mission to solve these cases. Only someone could be determined to keep this underwraps putting them in danger. Great story, I was in tears throughout this story. Can't wait for the next one.
This is finally Sam and Hayley's time, they may have taken years to get to this point, but Sam has been her partner and a step father to Eddie and Hope since Edward was taken from them. It may not have been a romantic love initially, but it is beautiful to see him step into that role, it is a role that they both needed to process their grief and continue on for Eddie. And in time became more, and yes I could easily have gone wrong and become a crutch they relied on and became resentful of. But it blossoms into something beautiful, deep and everlasting. I am sure Edward would be thrilled to look down and see them finally, officially become a family. This is one of the most heart wrenching of all the Baytown series, but Sam fits in with the other Heroes, who are all born protectors and who give their hearts fully.
The seventh book in this wonderful series that gets better with every book This was a true romance even though it was a slow build like we are talking years
Detective Sam Shackley has moved to the North Shore not only to further his career but also to give his best friend Hayley a chance to rebuild her life with her children The widow of his best friend and fellow detective Edward he has always been a part of her and her son Eddie and Daughter Hope's life but she is starting to date and he wants to give her the chance. When things start to spiral with her son and she realises her new dating life isn't what she wants she heads to the North Shore as well Will these two admit what everyone else can see that they are meant for one another Then when a chance find by the children puts them all in danger she will see how a extended police family rallies to protect their own.
Always a Hero is about Detective Sam Schackley of the North Heron Sheriff Department and Hayley Brooks, the wife of his best friend who was killed in the line of duty. We are back once again to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Their story is powerfully and emotionally charged from the beginning when tragedy strikes. The story captures you from the start and captivates you to the end. Sam and Hayley's story weaves you in and out of every emotion as they move forward in discovering and deepening their relationship. The added feature of two adorable children adds another dimension whose interactions throughout the story pull at your heartstrings. Plus we get to revisit with many, many numerous fellow Baytown characters all throughout. You will love, love, love this book!
If I could give more than 5 STARS I would have. The story of Sam, Hayley, Eddie and Hope just blew me away.
Maryann Jordan has done it again, this book is SPECTACULAR the love between Sam and Hayley was so strong I felt it in the words I was reading.
Being back in Baytown was fantastic and reading the story of the new guy was so good. The way the story unfolds from passed to present was fantastic. The care Maryann took in telling this story of friendship, loss, love, relocating and tragedy was done with such care and finesse.
I will also say I love how the rest of Baytown Family members make an appearance. This book is definitely worth the read. I was given the opportunity to read this book and these are my thoughts and opinion
Always a Hero was a beautiful friends to lovers story. Maryann Jordan outdid herself with this book. This is my new favorite Baytown book. She always keeps her book ideas fresh, and the writing of the characters was awesome. Sam was partners and best friends with Eddie. He also loved spending time with his wife Hayley. When something horrible happens to Eddie, Sam steps up to take care of his best friend’s wife and son. Feelings grow stronger and more romantic throughout the years. Sam and Hayley’s story is sweet and has all of the feels. I couldn’t put this book down. The kids, Eddie and Hope, add a sentimental twist to the story. There is even a little suspense. This added up to the perfect book. I can’t wait to see what is next from Maryann Jordan.
Sam and Hayley’s story takes us on quite a journey and happens over time. I cried at the funeral, celebrated Sam’s job promotion and move, was thrilled when his and Hayley’s friendship grew and when they both realized that their friendship had slowly changed and grew into a lasting love. Loved their presence and acceptance in both Eddie and Hope’s lives as well as all their families. And as we all know even when things are going great life intervenes and throws them into events that will affect them all. There were adventures, growth, twists, and a love from a hero who was always right there for them. Loved the interaction between the Baytown guys and their wives with Sam, Hayley, Eddie and Hope. Maryann Jordan books are wonderful and always leave me wanting more. 5+ stars.
Sam Shackley is a detective now in North Heron County and formally in Newport News. Edward Brooks is Sam’s friend from the police academy. Hayley Brooks is Edward’s wife.
Haley and her children ( Eddie and Hope) have to move forward after a lot of heartache Edward was killed in the line of duty). Sam has been their rock ever since. Haley and Sam have a chemistry like firecrackers on the 4th of July and are afraid to move forward to ruin their friendship. Finally things are progressing on their friendship to commitment, but some untimely incidents involving bones and bodies. Can Sam and the police solve the case? Can they have a Happily Ever After?
This book has suspense, danger, intrigue and a second chance at love and romance.
The book starts with the story of how Sam and Hayley relationship started as friends that leaned on one another when tragedy struck. Sam became Hayley and her kids support system. He decides that he needs to give her space and ends up on the Eastern shoreline. Then Hayley and Sam realize that they need to be near one another that is were the suspense comes in. Her kids make a horrific discovery and now the family is at risk, Sam's protective matter now comes it to play. While this is taking place we get to watch Hayley and Sam's relationship grow and flourish. As always we get to see other characters again and see what their relationships have become. Maryann Jordan has done what she does best again mixing suspense and romance into one story without either one lacking.
Sam and Hayley have been friends for over a decade but somewhere along the line they both started to feel more than friendship. How can taking care of your best friend's wife and kids after he died turn into a second chance at love. Sam was there for Hayley through the pregnancy with Hope after Edward died and also there for Eddie who was only a couple years old when his dad died. He was also there for Hayley whenever she needed him to be there. Now they are both in Baytown living is Sam's duplex. Rice while the kids are digging for dinosaur bone they find human bones on their property. Who do the bones belong to? Are they related and who put them there? Will Sam and Hayley finally admit they love each other?
We all need a hero... Sam, when his best friend was murdered, made sure to protect his wife and children, always being there for whatever they needed. But the day had come when he had to move on and let her live her life and move on, as he felt like his world was revolving around theirs too much. He wanted what his best friend had for himself one day but didn't feel worthy of Hayley and her children.
Hayley and her children decided to pick up their lives and move to Baytown with Sam because she knew within her heart that He was the only one she wanted to be with. The kids already loved him.
Can he find that true love will stick with you even when the job and danger comes knocking?
