It’s a novella so there’s not much development but I loved the traumatised FMC for what she was. And her becoming the killer wasn’t something I saw coming.

A double dicked shadow wielding demon too? That’s what sold me on this. And it didn’t disappoint.
Possessive and obsessed with her. Do I need to say more.

Very quick and fun smutty read.

Effie, the amazing author, has done a fantastic job of world building and creating connectable characters in such a concise way. The pace of this novella is perfect, pushed along by the perfect personalities of all characters, and the detailed smutty goodness.

The way the author deals with complex mental health and abuse issues with sensitivity and boldness is truly beautiful within such a short read.

By the end of this you'll be begging for your own shadow daddy for the spooky season. Double 🍆 morphing 👅 and shadows used from afar this has all the spooky dirty scenes you need!

Do check triggers but a true and easy 5 stars for me.

I’m a mega lover of paranormal and Effie produced a monster read with this! It was delightfully delicious to devour; I ate up every glorious inch.. I mean page 😏

Effie never fails to deliver a read that is both captivating and spicy. Even in a novella, she brings fabulous world building with great depth. I thoroughly enjoy her writing style and she just has a way of writing the perfect spicy spice.

This was the perfect little read between arcs and left me feeling more than satisfied. Forbidden love, murder with a side of justice and a demon shadow daddy with a surprise package… what’s not to love?!

I find some novellas are often rushed to cram everything in but the pace of this one was perfect. It didn’t fall into the trap of a holey plot for lack of details.

The plot was intriguing and the characters were well written. I enjoyed the character development, especially Emily’s. Her journey was heartbreaking but victorious. Emily and Constantine are a match made in hell, absolutely perfect for each other. I need more of them! I’m all down for an obsessive/possessive MMC and Constantine hits that mark!

Would recommend to anyone on the look for short but oh so spicy read!

this is a dark demon / paranormal novella, double peen mmc, shadow daddy, human fmc, touch her and die, unhinged, revenge and rage, quick, and smutty ❤️‍🔥

i simply couldn’t put this down !! the way i want my very own constantine is actually concerning 🤭 they met when emily’s father went on a killing spree and killed her mom. then on the same night tried to kill emily. and when constantine shows up … oh shit goes downnn !!! he was immediately attracted to emily and couldn’t get her out of his mind.

constantine wasn’t able to be with emily 24/7 but he uses his shadows to try and be there for her 🥹 he’s only able to physically be with her when someone around her dies. emily gets her revenge and it’s a win/win situation because she gets to see constantine too !! that last few chapters had my heart racing too !! like i was biting my nails hoping for the best. the way she said fuck it and let everyone see while he was getting his punishment for messing with the human realm 😍 i fucking love them so much omg

honestly, enjoyment level was ⭐
but I rated it ⭐⭐⭐ because it wasn't just straight up garbage, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

I know it's a novella, but still, I hate it when the MCs fall for each other right away and we see absolutely zero reason as to why. It's just instant lust. That just usually feels lazy to me and like the author doesn't want to/know how to write chemistry. It also makes it so when the MCs actually get together, it's not very satisfying. Like I did not care at allllllllllllllll.

And all the 🌶️ scenes were rushed and boring because who literally gives a fuck about these two characters?? not me. Neither really had much of a personality and they had 0 chemistry.

so if you want the opposite of a slow burn, a demon romance, and you truly don't care about any sort of character development, you just wanna see double peen, you might like this book!

I would definitely give the author another chance to see if she gives the MCs more effort because I liked her plot ideas (-:

This is my absolute favorite of Effie’s books. I want more Constantine and Emily. I need more story. 110 pages was not enough, just like one pickle wasn’t enough*wink wink*. I have no idea why I put this book off but it’s definitely my top read so far this year.

Effie is the queen of mafia romance but I now know that she’s also the queen of paranormal romance/erotica. It’s dark and twisted and I couldn’t put it down.

Constantine is a reaper sent to pick up the souls of the depraved people in the world after their deaths and Emily is a girl that lived a life of trauma and abuse. Their worlds collided when her father murdered her mother. For someone who is unseen and never heard, she saw him and asked for his help.

This is a match made in hell.
Effie if you see this I need another book with their story or a part two or a bonus chapter, anything.

There was more story to this short, smutty novella than I expected. It's not 4 ⭐️ the way an epic fantasy is, but her writing is so good. It's difficult for me to care about characters in shorter stories, and I did from the start. She's starting to become one of my favs.

There are some rough scenes - bloody/gory murder and on page sexual Assault attempt. But there is also a lot of smut - and his anatomy isn't human... don't want to ruin it. Just check the TW

I’m embarrassed to say this is my first Effie Campbell read. There’s been no rhyme or reason for it, beside always being inundated with ARC’s. So when I heard she wrote a monster novella, I without a doubt dropped everything to read it.

This has some glorious, hit the spot spice scenes.. like wow. But the plot of this book by far out shines that.

Emily was robbed of a life/childhood, trying to fight for normalcy when all odds are against her. She reconnects with the mysterious shadow that saved her 5 years ago.

I just loved this novella, it sucked me in from the get go, and never once disappointed. Effie’s writing is amazing and descriptive, allowed me to feel I was in it and seeing it come to life.

I think November is a good month to start the McGowan Mafia series.

Effie you bring the monster pickles and I be right there reading every glorious inch of it.

I freaking loved this! Effie has written a fantastically dark, smutty novella perfect for Halloween!!!!!!

Emily has been beaten down all her life. She’s been deemed unworthy and insane by society and especially her grandmother (screw her cos what a b*tch) for talking about a mysterious boy wielding shadows she saw as a child. Now at 19 she’s struggling to find her way. I loved Emily, her inner monologue was fantastic!

Constantine (freaking AMAZING name right?!) cannot stop thinking of the girl from years ago… cue a chance encounter and he can’t resist taking a taste. This man (well demon) is so freaking hot he’s a supernova (or like a shadow version of one?!). He’s dominating and possessive. We get lots of stolen moments AND shadow shenanigans of the SMUTTIEST variety. Also did I mention the double peen?!?! And his expanding tongue?!?!

I loved that this novella has a great plot and it has a fantastic conclusion. Happy release day to this fantastic book!!!!

This was my first read with the "shadow daddy" trope.. and I must say, I was kinda into it. I don't know what that says about me, but I feel no shame. 🤣😈

This was a short, spicy read, and I really enjoyed it. The story itself was interesting and definitely had me rooting for the FMC.

I highly enjoy effies writing style, and she just has a way with writing perfect smut. 👏🏻

When I tell you I was as red as a 2nd degree sunburn reading this novella, I am not kidding!!! This was my first Shadow Daddy read and my first with multiple "appendages" and it was absolutely brilliant! I don't understand how everything Effie writes is just pure gold! The smut was SMUTTY, the storyline was perfect with character you absolutely love and hate, and Emily's evolution was chef's kiss.
If you are looking for a short and wicked little Halloween novella to read with one hand, this is it!!

This was great! Better than great! The story pulled on my heart strings the whole time. For a short smutty novella, this had so much story and emotion, not to mention tons of steamy sex scenes jam packed! I have become a devoted fan of Effie Campbell. So far I’ve read 2 of her books. Not only are they completely different, but they are individually captivating and entertaining as hell!

I've loved everything, that Effie has written, and this book wasn't any different, did someone say smoking hot shadow daddy with two peens ? Yes, yes they did. And what's not to love about that. It was a super quick novella, that ran out way to quick, I need more off!! The book gives you all the feels. It's a wild ride that's dark, twisted, spicy that's oh so good. It's action packed.

Once I started I just couldn't put it down, page after page was just to good to stop. I ate it up in one sitting. The characters, storyline, plot was written brilliantly. The world building was amazing.

Constantine and Emily where definitely made for each other, they are explosive together. Who knew the shadow daddy could be so romantic. Effie I really need a novel with them, I need more! Highly recommend.

A Demon and his heart!

I wanted a short read and came across this! So glad I did! It’s a nice and spicy, paranormal ish read.

In this book: traumatic events, a reaper see, obsession, shadows, a bit stabby, passion, how far we’d go for love, nickname, touch her and d!e and a double 🍆 demon!

Constantine is a reaper who can’t be seen by humans, until Emily. Their connection over time builds, then fate brings them together. Emily questions things but their passion for one another means they’ll go to extremes for just a touch.

Despite covering what may be triggers for some, this story was so good and the pull they had toward each other and how intense their feelings was kinda swoon worthy (even though it did involved a little bit of murder and death). I definitely recommend this short and spice, shadow demon read from Effie Campbell!

Effie has a way with writing dark smutty novellas that just hit differently. I loved this. It's dark and spooky and extra smutty in its short 109 pages. Definitely worth the read if you've been contemplating it. As always, read the trigger warnings first just in case and enjoy!

Fall in love with a soul-eating demon, in this Halloween night, paranormal romance novella.

I love how dark this book is! Our demon only appears to eat the souls of people who have been violently killed. Our human, Emily, who can mysteriously see him, does whatever she can to see him again. In the immediate aftermath of violent murder, they make the most of their time together.

Emily has had a rough life. She is released from a mental hospital after claiming a demon killed her abusive father. However, when a man is violently killed in front of her, she sees the demon again and nothing will keep them apart.

I read this on a short flight and this is the perfect plane read. It's engaging, spicy and short.

I'm a big fan of Effie Campbell's writing and stories. She's always spot on with the spice. I've been going through her McGowan Mafia Series (which I LOVE), and was excited to see she'd branched out into PNR.

This is great if you love:

- Great spice
- Violence/Gore
- He Doms
- No one washes their hands

This book is best read after buying a plane ticket to Scotland to find your own demon.

I really enjoyed this novella. It was short and sweet. Emily witnessed her fathers death by a black eyed boy. She is institutionalized by her grandmother. She is released and forced to live with her. Her grandmother blames her for her mothers death and not being able to put her fathers killer behind bars. She is abusive. One day she has a chance encounter with her demon after he saves her. They kiss and Constantine, her demon, becomes obsessed with her. This novella was the perfect book to read this halloween.

This was my first book by this author and wow I was not expecting that it was so good, so well written, and plenty of spice. There were so many parts that had me in awe my eyes went wide, and I LOVED it. This book had a human and a non-human romance, and it was great. Not conditional of course when she has to do bad things to see him, but it was their way of love. Emily was the only one who could see Constantine and even Tho it was not in the cards something said they were meant to be and that she was not meant for this human world. The ending was so good, and I need more of them and their new journey.
