When you have their jobs, there’s no such thing as a peaceful vacation…
Sam and Nick are ready to get out of DC—and the White House—for a much-needed vacation to celebrate their second anniversary. Due to ongoing political pressures, they decide to scuttle their plans for a return to Bora Bora to stay closer to home at their favorite oceanfront house at Dewey Beach in Delaware. But before they can make their escape, Sam is summoned back to work to deal with yet another crisis in the ongoing investigation into former Lieutenant Stahl. Just when they think they’ve seen the full scope of his depravity, there is more. Sam leaves Gonzo, Freddie and the rest of the squad in charge of a new investigation of a murdered college student while Gigi and Cameron deal with the Internal Affairs Board and plot their strategy to deal with a lawsuit from the Patrick family. Meanwhile, Nick’s mother is working on a plea deal with an unexpected new advocate who wants her to reconcile with her estranged son.
As always for the first couple, nothing ever goes according to plan, but the chance to spend a week mostly alone is just what they needed until their children, family and friends join them for the final weekend at the beach.
It’s March in Dewey, and Sam and Nick are snuggling in front of the fire as they prepare to begin their third year of marriage.

Let me state at the start that I love this series just like I loved Force’s Fatal series from which it was spun. But every contemporary romance, has at least a bit of fantasy in it. Despite being as much a suspenseful “Who Done It?” detective series complete with gruesome murders to be solved, as well as a contemporary romance, the First Family series is no different. It contains a certain amount of fantasy. From the very start we have to accept that when Samantha Holland is promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant and put in charge of the D.C. Metro Police Homicide Division, she’s still out there pounding the pavement and knocking down doors on the mean streets of Washington D.C. in search of murderers. The reality is as the head of the homicide division she’d mostly be spending her days sitting behind a desk handling administrative issues while she directs the men and women under her to do the heavy lifting. But that’s hardly the biggest fantasy this series is built upon. Here’s the biggest one. First when Sam marries Senator Nick Cappuano who shortly after their marriage accepts the appointment to become Vice President of the United States because the current V.P. is in poor health. Sam by proxy becomes Second Lady but she’s still out there on the streets catching murder suspects. Not only that but she does so with only a two-person Secret Service detail that doesn’t accompany her so much as tail her. When she goes up to knock on a suspect’s door her protection detail is forced to remain at a distance watching over her. When the former President dies in office, Nick ascends to the Presidency making Sam the First Lady. She continues to do her job as head of the homicide division in the same manner. Seriously in what real world would this ever happen? Then there’s lesser plot contrivances that would never happen in the real world. Like the idea that the M.P.D. would lead the investigation into disgraced and now imprisoned former homicide boss Leonard Stahl’s transgressions. In this story he’s already serving two life terms with no chance of parole for attempting to murder Sam. Now he’s suspected of being a serial killer, making victims of the young women he was supposed to be helping their families find. In the real world an outside police agency like the State Police or the F.B.I. would take lead on something like that. No way would the M.P. be allowed to investigate itself or one of its own. Amazingly Sam is recused from investigating Stahl’s latest atrocities because of her relationship with him. It’s odd that the author has chosen to treat the Internal Affairs Division as the departments home for wayward officers. Stahl was assigned to I.A.B. after Sam replaced him as head of the homicide division. In this story we have now Officer Offenbach who has been demoted from sergeant to patrol officer because of his violations of department rules, sitting on the I.A.B. Board judging Gigi’s fitness to continue being a police officer. How does the idea that an officer demoted for violating the rules is now in a position of judging others for violating them make any sense at all? It doesn’t. But Offenbach’s presence on the review board adds a bit of tension to Gigi’s hearing which otherwise would have been a cut and dry case of finding her acting in self-defense because he has an axe to grind with Sam. So yeah, while this is an excellent series it is not without some very sketchy plot lines. I honestly didn’t love this book. It seemed as if there was a lot going on in it but not much really happening. Which may be true to life but at least for this reader not all that interesting to read about. There is a common theme in this story with many characters feeling responsible for the acts of others. Much of the M.P.D. especially the top brass and members of the homicide division feel a sense of guilt for not knowing the level of depravity Leonard Stahl was capable of and the heinous crimes he was committing before he attempted to kill Sam. Nick feels guilty for a mass murderer killing and wounding several military personnel on a military base. Cameron feels guilty that his unhinged ex-girlfriend and her family has brought so much drama and danger into Gigi’s life. A young college student feels responsible for the death of his new girlfriend when his psycho ex-girlfriend murders her. Solving her murder pretty much occupies Gonzo and Freddy’s time in this story while Sam and Nick are away for a much needed ten day vacation at a Delaware beach house. Sam’s role in this story is pretty much to offer emotional support to her beleaguered husband and her bosses and team back in D.C. Even though it didn’t take long to identify the pair responsible for killing the young college student, nailing them down took most of this book. And then there’s a very complex (or convoluted) surprise in the case involving one of the defendants that felt very rushed to me. Ultimately this book had the feel of one of those books or movies that’s main purpose is to set the stage for the next one. The author tells us at the end of this book that she started it out intending to write a Christmas novella but this is where her muse took her. To me it felt like it lacked her usual tight story line and direction. For myself the gradual evolution of Samantha Holland-Cappuano which seemed to have begun in the previous book was the most intriguing part to this book. . At the beginning of this series Samantha is a hard charging, take no prisoner homicide detective whom even after being promoted to head of the homicide division refuses to sit behind a desk. She even refuses the offer from the mayor to become Deputy Chief because she doesn’t want to be a paper pusher. When her husband becomes V.P. she insists on keeping Holland, her maiden name at work and chafes whenever someone calls her Mrs. Cappuano or even recognizes her as the wife of the V.P. As stated above she continues to keep the Secret Service at arm’s length even after she becomes First Lady. As the First Lady she has little use for the traditional roles of the position leaving her staff to handle everything while she stays as uninvolved in that role as possible. In the previous book while recovering from her injuries she’s forced to allow her Secret Service detail drive her around. She discovers she likes the convenience of not having to fight D.C. traffic on her way to work and crime scenes and can more efficiently get things done while her security detail does the driving. She has become very close with Vernon and Jimmy, the two agents assigned to protect her. She even sees Vernon the senior agent, as a pseudo uncle whom she sometimes leans on for his wisdom and experience as both a former FBI and ATF agent. In this book and the previous for different reasons Sam serves more or less as the bench coach for her team. Gonzo more or less takes on her previous role as team leader even partnering with Sam’s partner Freddy. Sam demonstrates her leadership abilities in directing her team and providing moral support during a difficult time but isn’t out there pounding the pavement chasing down the bad guys. In this story it seems Sam is even giving direction to her Captain and the Chief in a very subtle shift of relationships. Things like instructing them (not asking) to keep her informed and in the loop while she’s away supposedly on vacation and they readily agree to do so. Where in the past Sam had always adamantly insisted upon a clear separation between her roles as head of the homicide division and as First Lady, in this story concerned with the public perception of Nick she encourages him to set up a joint interview with Opra Winfrey and even suggests a member of the media follow her around for a day while she does her police job so that the public can see who they are. She seems more open to the idea of Nick serving a second term as president than he does. This is a major sea change in attitude for Samantha. It would appear she is slowly gaining the experience and qualities that would be required of her if she were to replace Chief Farnsworth or Captain Malone, both of whom are at retirement age and growing tired of the demands of their jobs. By the end of this story the only thing keeping them from retiring is the desire to clean up the mess Stahl has made of the department’s reputation and by extension, their legacies. I could definitely see Sam being appointed Captain or Chief and Gonzo promoted to head of the homicide division with Freddy being second in charge in the future.
I couldn’t stop listening! This book starts with a bang and continues with so many twists in the latest murder case plus more developments in the ongoing police department scandal. There’s never a dull moment when Sam & Nick are involved.
It is really a shame to turn a novella into a novel, because the hundreds of pages added, do not improve the plot at all, rather they weigh it down with an unnecessary series of repetitions and baleful plot twists. This in my opinion was the case with this 6th installment in this series, which I had an immense struggle to finish, full as it was of useless filler. Let us hope for "a better future" even if all these final cliffhangers are, in the long run, exasperating me.
I keep trying and hoping that the stories will recapture my attention the way they used to but unfortunately I'm finding myself skimming these books more and more. I keep coming back because of the small nuggets of each of the books that actually pertain to the new plot. So much filler and repeating of the same statements, sentiments and pacing.
My love for the characters are what have kept me coming back. But its getting harder to stay. Maybe its been going on too long or I'm just pickier about my reading.
Not much bliss for Sam & Nick, but that is the story of their lives!
I thought I would get a nice, relaxing story of Sam and Nick on a much needed vacation, but as usual, their lives are anything but relaxing. I liked that Sam was with Nick and getting somewhat of a break, but I did miss her being in the thick of the case and making the connections to solve it. It was a crazy story that got even more wild as they discovered more. I really enjoyed it, and I can't wait to see what happens next. As is usual with this series, it does end on somewhat of a cliffhanger that leads into the next book.
The author's message after the novel ends begins with "DON'T be mad at me", but sorry I am. My take - too much and too little. It seems like the characters got away from. This could be the end of my relationship with Sam and Nick!
My understanding was that this was supposed to be a light-hearted instalment on Sam and Nick's anniversary getaway, but it became quite a bit more than that. I guess if you're the POTUS, you really can't take any time off. Personally I don't see the attraction of the job except for power hungry narcissists. If you're going into it for the greater good, it seems to be such a thankless job. No Presidential perks could compensate for the loss of privacy, the unrelenting scrutiny and the stress associated with such a job.
There are a lot of stuff left hanging so I'm guessing we're in for another rollercoaster ride in the next book.
Once again Ms. Force does not disappoint. Loved the book and also loved how Sam was able to take a somewhat vacation with Nick. It was great to read that Freddie and Gonzo were able to solve the crimes without Sam but kept her in the loop the whole time. Also got to read about Shelby and Avery becoming parents again with a new baby girl.......of course she will always be dressed in pink.
I look forward to read how Nick's mother will enter his life again....or will she??? Sam definitely has her husband's back where she is concerned but then Sam and Nick always have each other's back on all issues. I don't know how I feel yet about Nicolette's attorney.....I somewhat feel that there is more to him and why he wants Nicolette to reunite with her son.......seems a bit fishy to me.
It hurts me a little to only give 4 stars. I absolutely love this series- I own them all and have read them all (some more than once). There was just SO much going on in thiis one that I had a hard time keeping all the different plot lines straight. I also wasnt a fan of Sam being more or less detached from her police life.. ugh, it just had a slightly different feel than all the other books in the series. I still loved it but wasnt my favorite
A lot of conversations were super repetitive and some storylines too. I’m also annoyed and not sure if I’ll continue since nicks mom is going to be back in their life after all the crap she put them through. The ending left on a cliffhanger and as much as I want answers to that and stalhs case I’m kinda over the repetitiveness.
This was a particularly tense entry in this series. I loved it. I read all of Marie Force's "Fatal" series and then moved into the "State" series with the characters. They just get better and better.
5 Star Review of State of Bliss (First Family #6) by Marie Force
AUDIO REVIEW:
I couldn’t wait to listen to State of Bliss and it was another edge of your seat listen and a great addition to the series.
I was so invested in this audiobook and the story that Ms. Force wove, that I listened to it in almost one sitting. Eva Kaminsky did a wonderful job bringing the story to life for me and her voice is easy to listen to as she narrates.
Ms. Force delivered a story that had me on the edge of my seat whilst listening. Adding in the struggles that the team are all going through for various reasons. There were numerous of twists and turns, and I cannot wait to see what happens next with the First Family and their family and friends.
3,9 Okay, so I’m on book 6 of this series, and I’m starting to feel the fatigue a little. Don’t get me wrong—I like these books. They’re like a cozy TV show you can turn on when you’re not in the mood for anything too heavy. The formula works for me: a mix of crime-solving, family drama, and a little romance to keep things spicy. But after six books, I’m starting to notice how repetitive some of it is. Like, how many times can Stahl and Ramsey be the villains? Can we please move on already?
I didn’t rate this one lower because I disliked it—it’s more that the series is starting to feel a bit same-y. There’s just so much going on in this book that I had a hard time keeping track of all the plotlines. And honestly, I wasn’t a fan of Sam being so detached from her police work this time. It just felt… off. Like, where’s the Sam we know and love? The one who’s all in, juggling her crazy job and her even crazier family? This book had a slightly different vibe, and I’m not sure I’m here for it.
That said, I still enjoy the series overall. It’s like a TV show where they stretch out storylines over multiple seasons (or books, in this case). I actually like that they don’t resolve everything in one go—it keeps me coming back to see what happens next. But at the same time, some of the conversations and subplots are so repetitive. Like, we get it, Nick’s mom is the worst. But since I didn’t read the Fatal series, I don’t have the same level of hatred for her that some readers do. Honestly, I kind of like her?( maybe because of her interactions with the attorney) Her messy relationship with her lawyer is weirdly entertaining, and I’m curious to see how she’ll worm her way back into Nick’s life. Will she ever stop hating Sam? Probably not, but I’m here for the drama.
Speaking of Nick’s mom, I’m not sure how I feel about her attorney. There’s something fishy about him. Why is he so invested in getting Nicolette to reconnect with Nick? What’s his deal? I feel like there’s more to him, and I’m low-key suspicious.
And can we talk about the First Family for a second? I love them. Scotty is a gem, and the whole Metro PD crew feels like old friends at this point. But seriously, how long are we going to keep dragging out the Stahl and Ramsey storylines? It’s time to retire these villains and bring in some fresh blood. There are other subplots to explore—like that college murder, Nick’s mom’s criminal antics, or even just the family hanging out at the beach. Let’s mix it up a little, you know?
Oh, and the long sex scenes? Yeah, they’re getting old. I’m not a prude or anything, but do we really need that much? It doesn’t really add anything to the story, and sometimes it feels like filler. Like, can we get back to the mystery or the family drama, please?
All in all, I’m still invested in this series. The characters feel like family, and I’ll probably keep reading just to see what happens to them. But I’m ready for some new challenges, new villains, and maybe a little less repetition. Here’s hoping the next book shakes things up a bit!
-Okay, can we talk about the last case in this book? Because wow. I absolutely loved it. The twists, the turns, the sheer unpredictability of it all—it was like a rollercoaster that just kept getting better and better. And that last hour? Pure perfection. I was glued to the pages, flipping through them so fast I almost got a paper cut.
The way everything unfolded was just chef’s kiss. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, bam! Another twist. And then another.
-Honestly, the last hour of the book was the best part. The tension was through the roof, the stakes felt real, and the payoff was so satisfying. It reminded me why I got into this series in the first place. When the cases are this good, it’s easy to forgive some of the repetitive stuff or the overly long sex scenes (we don’t need that much detail, let’s be real).
This case? It’s a standout. It’s the kind of storyline that makes you want to immediately pick up the next book, even if you’re starting to feel a little series fatigue. If the rest of the series could keep this level of energy and creativity, I’d be a happy camper. More of this, please!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book opens with quite the bombshell as Sam and Nick are preparing to leave for vacation at the beach. An all-hands commander's meeting has Sam heading to HQ while Nick tends to White House business.
The commander's meeting is the most startling as it concerns Stahl who is already serving two life sentences. This however takes his crimes and betrayals to a whole new level and has everyone wondering how they could have missed this aspect of him. It also means that Sam will have two work related things to do at the beginning of her anniversary trip.
Homicide Detective Sergeant Tommy 'Gonzo' Gonzales will lead the investigation along with Detective Erica Lucas from SVU and Lieutenant Max Haggerty from Crime Scene. Before that even starts, they get a new case this time a university student.
Sam, however, is heading off to Delaware with Nick for their Anniversary trip, they will be joined by the kids and family towards the end of that time. She knows things at work will be in good hands with Gonzo and Freddie.
Gigi and Cameron prepare for her IAB hearing and a plan for the suit that Jaycee's family have filed against them and the department. Thankfully Sam had given them Andy's number, so they have a lawyer who is trustworthy to help them navigate all of it.
Gonzo and Christina have a surprise and the case with Nick's mother takes an interesting turn.
After another hysterical SNL skit Nick and Sam are interrupted by another national crisis, this one on a military base.
In spite of all that they still get to have a wonderful anniversary dinner.
Although their dinner was wonderful, the idea of greeting the folks who gathered outside wasn't the best idea as it gives them both quite the scare. It also has Nick's head Secret Service agent Brent in trouble with his boss.
Once again there are many things that happen in this book. The investigation into Stahl takes a horrific turn, the murder Freddie and Gonzo are working leads to a surprising and horrible resolve in more ways than one.
There is some laughter and fun with the kids and family and an ending that has me wanted the next book right now. Fortunately, it won't be too long a wait.
Absolutely love Sam and Nick and will forever soak up these stories. State of Bliss does NOT disappoint. So fast paced. Story arcs very creative. Organization of concurrent storylines is wonderful and keeps it fresh. And love the obvious freedom that is being given to Sam's staff that is foretelling. That cliffhanger??? BOOM! The meat of Sam and Nick's story is wonderful and I love this family. But....
Please, for the love of Pete, STOP WITH THE CONSTANT BACKSTORIES! This is book 22 of Sam and Nick's story and this series is blatantly obviously not standalones. If anyone picks up Book 6 of the First Family series as their first exposure and is lost... then they deserve to be. As a long time, devoted reader, I am so beyond tired of hearing backstories on the main characters. So repetitive, and it honestly takes me out of the story and distracts me to the extent that I cannot devour these in one sitting. I have now heard how Sam and Nick had to meet twice/her ex-husband at least 22 times. 99% of this book took place over 4 days and we had to hear Sam's constant whining about how Stahl has harmed the reputation of the MPD throughout. She whined to herself, she whined to Nick, she whined to Freddie, she whined to Gonzo, she whined to Malone. Then Gonzo and Freddie whined to each other. Then Malone ruminated on it. Then Chief Farnsworth was tormented. Enough. Nick's mother...in the last book on the same day Sam relived his mother's horrible deeds every time she talked with him. How many times would you bring up those kinds of details in real life? You wouldn't. The only backstories that we need to hear at Book 22 are with the minor characters (like Roni or Derek) that we haven't seen in a few books. A couple of brief sentences will do. Once.
Sorry to be so negative with that comment because I truly do LOVE these books and will continue to preorder and devour them. They have a permanent place on my bookshelves.
State of Bliss, book 6 in the First Family series by Marie Force is also very good. President Cappuano and his wife, Lt. Sam Holland of the DC Metro police are finally getting away from DC for their anniversary trip. Unfortunately, they are only going to Delaware instead of Bora Bora. They plan to make the best of it with their being by themselves the first week and having their children and friends come down on the weekend. Too many things are up in the air in DC for them to go very far.
Fallout is still coming from the Joint Chief's ill-fated coup of Nick's Presidency as well as the press hounding him. Nick doesn't think he should be out of the country until things settle down and the chief's are replaced. Then as a result of a statement by Defense Secretary Jennings that any serviceman who feels he cannot serve the President will be dishonorably discharged; but can get out, a soldier in Fort Liberty takes his gun and shoots his fellow soldiers, killing two and wounding many others. Then when they go out for an anniversary dinner, someone in the crowd throws tomatoes and hits Sam.
Meanwhile at the station, the chief gets information that Officer Stahl who is now in prison, is rumored to have killed at least 20 young women during his career and covered it up as he was the investigating officer of the missing young women. One of the members of the Sam's team is being investigated for the killing of a woman who was holding the officer hostage, abusing her, and trying to kill her. One of the members of the inquiry board would love to get a chance to get back at Sam for getting him demoted has already decided Gigi was wrong in shooting the girl. Will he get his way and remove Gigi as an officer?
Will the President and Sam get any rest and relaxation while on their "vacation"?
This book is very good too. I read it in one sitting and just couldn't put it down.
My favourite MPD Lieutenant,First Lady and President of the USA are back! About to celebrate their third anniversary as a married couple. But instead of their traditional visit to Bora Bora. The pair are heading to Dewey Beach for a week of peace and quiet.
Well as much peace and as you can get when you're followed by secret service and the entire Washington press corps.
But Nick and Sam are determined to enjoy themselves especially as they are kid free.
However, work is soon interrupting this blissful downtime. As a tip has been received at headquarters that former lieutenant Stahl. The man who held Sam hostage and tried to kill her is a multiple murderer and his victims are those he was supposed to be searching for.
Furthermore, Nick is still dealing with the fall out of his mothers arrest and the attempted coup by his joint chiefs to overthrow his presidency. A coup that will eventually lead to another huge tragedy
And so another media storm brews, and one Sam's boss and beloved Uncle Chief Farnsworth may not be able to survive.
But he's not the only one inside MPD having problems as Gonzo and the rest of homicide try to solve a tricky case that is made more difficult when an unusual request is made from the top. Not to mention one member of the team is facing an IAB inquiry for shooting and killing her boyfriends ex.
And with a shocking ending. Lots of twists and turns and catch ups from all of the Fatal,First family. This was a really enjoyable and engaging read. But it did feel a little like two stories and I kind of wish Sam had been in the thick of it rather than on the sidelines.
State of Bliss First Family Series Book #6 Nick and Samantha
This series should be read in order. By now, if you haven’t read these, you have missed all the fun and thrill. Every book starts right where the last book took off, so here we go….(oh yeah, there may be spoilers)
Nick and Sam are planning a very long overdue vacation. Nick is POTUS, and has people coming at him from all angles. Sam is a homicide detective and never gets any down moments. Especially now that the police department is having to look in to a lot of old cases, thanks to some crooked cops.
So Nick and Sam finally get away but the “vacation” isn’t quite going to plan. Issues keep arising with both Nick and Sam’s jobs. Back at the PD, Cam and Gigi have their issues hanging over their heads, then there is Gonzo and Freddie taking lead while Sam is gone. Add in Nick’s mother and her legal troubles, and you have a book full of issues and action.
The entertainment, the excitement, and the thrill never stop. Love these stories as there is never a dull moment. Despite all the chaos, Nick and Sam try their best to be present for their friends and maintain a loving family. It takes a village, but they make it work….barely.
They can’t catch a break! Nicks mom has a new attorney and that storyline took an interesting twist. I am conflicted if I think the attorney is that good or doing something nefarious since that other prisoner said he was a shark. Stahl is the evil that doesn’t stop and is back as a potential serial killer while he was an officer! You could feel the turmoil that knowledge has on the Chief, Malone, and so many of the department. The vacation is fun as it shows some great scenes with Nick and Sam, but also not so much because man a lot happens on their vacation with government scandals and mass shootings and police crime and department actions. Gonzo was a rock star and so was Cruz. I loved seeing everyone rally around the chief and how the secret service members are really becoming family, especially Vernon and Brant. As always I love the chemistry between Sam and Nick and the relationships we see with family, friends and colleagues. The ending was not unexpected the closer the end of the book came, but still shocking and has me ready for the next story!
I highly recommend this book from one of the best authors out there.
Oh wow!!! Need I say more? I love all of Marie’s books but Fatal Series and First Family are my favorite series. State of Bliss so far is my OMG book. I must have said WOW so many times while reading State of Bliss. I don’t want a spoiler but I will say that it was great to read about Nick and Sam’s families and friends and what they have been up to. Angela and Jack laughing again, Brooke, Nate, Eli and Candace. I can not believe that change is possible for some people but learning about their life growing up, it made sense they are what they are. I love the phone conversation Sam had with someone, it was so honest and touching and I really hope it works out. I think it will give Nick peace of mind. And speech from uncle Joe had me tearing up. I can not wait for the book club meeting on this. Thank you Marie for another great book.
I've read all of MF's series' & have pre-ordered the next book due in May '24. That said, I don't recall a book where so much was repeated from prior books or even within this book, Some of that was probably for the benefit of those that hadn't read the prior books. However, I don't remember that being done as much in prior books. Just food for thought. Maybe it's because so much had to be retold about Stahl. I just hope that doesn't happen in every book as Stahl wraps up over several more books? I was able to skim over several pgs at a time in more than one chapter & that's a first for me. The beginning & end of the book flew by as they had in the past & it was good to see Sam's subordinates maturing & taking on more in the last couple of books. And Sam finally having the maturity to let them spread their wings while she coaches from the sidelines.
I fell in love with Marie's writing after read the very first Gansett Island Series book Maid for Love. By the 6th book I was looking at her other Series but wasn't convinced I was ready to try something else of hers. By the tenth book I happened to have a chance to try the first book in the Fatale series for free, so I did. By the end I knew I was in trouble. Man, can this woman write! I continued to read book after book all the way into the First Family series and here we are. What can I say but State of Bliss gave me more of what I expected and then some. So much so, I read the book in one sitting with only bathroom breaks because I didn't want to put it down. Again Marie has outdone herself, ( Though if she was sitting across from me right now I'd like to kick her under the table for leaving me hanging at the end. Shame on you lady! LMAO. Can't wait for May to get here so I can find out what happens next. You never cease to amaze me. Great job!
Ebook/Audio Review: I was so excited for State of Bliss (First a family #6) and once again Marie Force has delivered a wonderful story that is an amazing read and a wonderful listen. It’s a book thats has you on the edge of your seat throughout and it’s the perfect addition to the series. Eva Kaminsky did a great job bringing the characters and their story to life, she hit every emotional, every bit of banter and more importantly was very easy to listen to. In State of Bliss we see the team come together to solve the crime while all suffering with their own problems. The twists and turns come from all directions and at times I didn’t see them coming. I love everything about this series and once again Ms Force gave me exactly what I needed and now I’m excited for what’s coming next with the family I feel like are friends.
Marie Force "borrows" from current events and seamlessly incoporates similar occurrences into the storylines surrounding the Cappuano family. It works perfectly. Some much needed time away from the White House has Nick and Sam in Dewey Delaware. Try as they might to keep the world at bay, it's readily apparent that being POTUS is 24/7. Not that they doubted it. Gonzo and to a lesser degree Cruz are the headliners of State of Bliss as they lead the investigatios. Gruesome discoveries of a serial murderer has the Homocide Unit hopping in addition o the murder of a college student. A corrupt politician, a disgraced and incarcerated ex-cop and a mass shooting all plague both Nick and Sam. They have some stolen momens and get to have some quality family time but the outside world keeps pushing in.
