Sean did a great job pulling all the storylines together to a nice conclusion. This is one of my favorite end of the world LitRPGs. He kept the same mix of action and world building all the way through. I am looking forward to the next series in this universe.
With both the number and variety of LitRPG books out there, Sean Barber has a truly unique take on it. The idea of three different paths to power is refreshing. The inclusion of a faith path not tied to one religion is also a good thing. Too many times authors will make their systems tie directly to one philosophy or religion. Having a system not tied to one belief but open to all is nice to see, and groundbreaking. I look forward to future books!
Honestly, if it wasn't for the positive portrayal of most othered people I would have given this 4 stars. The final conflict between good and not good ends abruptly, and without much tension development. Still, thumbs up for having Q characters presented positively, especially when there has been some pushback in some of the reviews specifically targeting this treatment. Keep on trucking Sean. Okay, what just happened? The end of a book series as a cliffhanger? The end of a book series is a cliffhanger and nothing indicating that the author has any intentions of rectifying it?
Even though I enjoyed what was written thus far, the abrupt and unsatisfying ending ruined it for me.
It is a little sad that this is the conclusion of the series. Really hope Mr. Barber returns to john family. I guess I am now spoiled and used to multiple book series. ( 10 plus series) really enjoyed the idea of three "paths" and want to read more books in the world, Mr. Barber has created.
This series moves quickly, is full of action and has great characters! With just the right amount of information on the paths of power so you don't get bogged down it is informative and creative! A great quick read!
