Describes megaliths, ancient crosses, holy wells, magic trees, caves and sunken cities in Wales and discusses Welsh folklore concerning King Arthur, the devil, fairies, and mermaids
If you're going to travel, one has to know the legends. I like the author's distinction between myth and legend in that legend has some basis in the historical record. I'm not sure that applies in all (or any of) his examples, but at least there is a clear link to a physical place. This is a good guide to finding the spots and the connected legends.
It was informative but very dry and repetitive. Good as a book to plan a trip to Wales but it doesn't make for riveting reading. It just feels like a laundry list of every rock and every story associated with it. Some stories are interesting but some could be cut out entirely because they add nothing, or at the very least, made more succinct.
