Loved Adrenaline and loved this novella! Its been awhile since I first read Adam and Katrina’s story, but I was able to pick up and not feel like I was lost or missing anything. It’s a quick 7 chapters but does end on a cliffhanger. This was the perfect spooky setup for Vince’s story to pick up, and I can’t wait to read more about him!

“Scopaesthesia. The paranoia provoking phenomenon of being watched without identifying the source.”

Adam and Katrina who? Rhys Wagner has entered the circus and stolen the show. Call me instantly obsessed. We don't do love here, only obsession.

“The cruelest death is eternity.”

This was the perfect balance of heartwarming, mysterious and disturbing for an introduction to our next story. I am more than eager for the next book. This was a quick descent into a haunting museum filled with wax figures owned and curated by an even more mysterious and unnerving man. As we explore the art we learn a bit more about the small town of Rockchapel, the history and tragedy of the founding families, and are introduced to new characters that absolutely piqued my interests. While this was entirely too short and left us on a to be continued... it was the perfect taster.

“It was almost like beneath the wax… there were real people involuntarily trapped within their fiberglass frames, desperate to break out. Their eyes fixed. Limbs motionless and encased in wax. Eyelids glued in place. Their silent screams tunneling against the seal of their lips, trapped within their own mind.”

This book is 1.5 of the Secret We Sin series. While it can be read as a stand alone it is suggested to read starting with Adrenaline or you can start with Toxic and then Adrenaline.

This was a short quick read but it was amazing. The ending had me so shook and I can’t wait for the continuation to find out what happens. It seems like there is a potential for this to lead into Vince’s story.

While it was short, I have not stopped thinking about this since I finished it. It’s steamy and I loved seeing Adam and Trina again. Also the creepy setting of the wax museum made it so interesting and then the cliff hanger that deals with the wax museum.

I loved this book so much and I can’t wait to see what else happens in this story. As always this author has wrote another five star read to me and reminds me why they remain one of my favorite authors.

Read this if you like (this is just some of the aspects):
-historical building setting
-found family
-obsession
-exhibitionism
-revenge
- a serial unaliver

As always please check trigger warnings.

Let me tell you there is no way I expected this to go the way that it did! A cutesy start leads to a disturbingly haunted ending that leaves us hanging on a ‘to be continued’. It sets up the start of a new and different storyline to lead into *hopefully* Vince’s story!

For the full picture, I would highly suggest you start by reading Adrenaline first as this gives you the baseline and background to the goings on before Scopaesthesia. It can however be read as a standalone. But be prepared, wax figures aren’t always as they seem. And if steamy, risk-getting caught sex is your thing, read on.

if I’m being honest, i took very big breaks while trying to read this story. it’s premise is promising and i think the whole “having live people in wax figures” is intriguing (yes, i realize how messed up that sounds), but the writing and something else i just can’t put my finger on was what caused this story to be such a bad turn out for me.

** I read this story as it was apart of the Phobia anthology**

Wow!

This Novella was original and hooked me from page one! I loved revisiting Katrina and Adam’s story!

Storytelling at its Best! This book has it all spice, heat, and the extra that comes with any A. L. Woods book.

I gave this Novella 5 stars! I could not turn the pages fast enough!

Great story!

No spoilers with my review!

A novella which is part of the In Secret We Sin series.

This was eery and spicy all at the same time. There was an introduction to some new characters who I’m intrigued to meet more of!

And what is a certain wolf up to? 🤔

Can’t wait to find out!!

This was the perfect novella for Adrenaline, full of spice and steam. It was great to see a bit of their life after the first book and I can't wait for more. I need Vince's full story

This was weird but also could be a perfect set up for Vince's story. And this did say TBD at the end so I guess we shall see what A.L. Woods releases next!

A little creepy, a lot intriguing. This short story is a perfect screenshot of Rockchapel and a few of its most compelling residents. If you haven't visited previously, you're in for a treat of an introduction. If you've passed through town before, you'll savor more time spent with characters you've been missing. First timers should run straight to Adrenaline after this and pick up the backstory...just follow the watermelon lollipops.

I will read ANYTHING this author writes. I just love her writing.
This is a super creepy novella with the introduction of some intriguing characters and a little catch up on some previous ones. It’s just creepy enough with enough going on to be enjoyed as a quick Halloween read. I loved the plot and really couldn’t see how the book would play out!
You definitely can read this as a stand alone but I’ll never stop recommending adrenaline as it’s an all time favourite of mine.
I LOVED getting back into this world. I love Katrina and Adam and cannot wait for Vince! The extra side characters and start of a new story already has me obsessed. I know what comes next will be brilliant.

-Bit of spice
-Strange going ons
-Back into the Adrenaline world
-Creepy museum
-Revenge

I was so happy to get more of Adam and Katrina. If you haven’t read Adrenaline, I suggest devouring that dark beauty before reading this one.

I love the freaky stuff that comes from the mind of A.L. Woods. It’s refreshing to get lost in a world outside of societal norms. I said this in my review of Adrenaline, but it’s worth repeating. This quick read lets us know that Adam and Katrina are still willing to do anything for each other and stubborn as all hell. We also learn there are even more disturbed people in Rotchapel than we thought. This one will leave you thinking, “WTF just happened??” and you will love every minute of it.

My absolute favourite author and this story did not disappoint. Loved reading about Adam and Katrina again in this house of wax type horror story.

It ends in a cliffhanger and I know that the continuation of this story will be amazing. Looking forward to that.

What did I just read?! I loved Adrenaline, which was such an amazing read. Returning to Adam and Katrina was great, seeing what has changed in the months between now and then. Happy to report they are still the same, keeping up their antics.

I don’t want to give away too much of this story but let’s keep it at this. Adam and Katrina go to a wax museum that has been redecorated in a spooky theme (if only we could go for real because it sounded amazing) of course they fool around in a dark corner, making for a crazy hot scene. But there is something with these wax statues…

Now I need the next book because this is setting up another story, of that I’m sure and it will be epic if this is the standard to go by!

You can read it Scopaesthesia as a standalone but you get the full experience if you first read Adrenaline, so I would recommend that.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I will always read what A.L. writes. Always. No questions. It's always yes.

Scopaesthesia is the sense of being stared at, and I hate it. A.L. wrote this so perfectly that I literally felt like I was being watched while I was reading. It's spooky, chilling, spicy, and intriguing all at the same time.

I love how this is setting up Rhys and Vince. And I CANNOT wait for their books!

This short novella was creepy as heck with the wax museum and the lingering thoughts of someone was always watching you. I didn't read Adrenaline yet so I'm new to the characters that were mentioned in this short story Katrina, Adam, Vince, Gabe, Maxwell, Rhy, & Josie. I am intrigued though after reading the short 7 chapters, I want to dive into their background history and how their world is connected with one another.
