One of my many favorite things about this book is that the name of the book was also included into the storyline which I thought was really awesome to see that be included since as readers we don't get to see that often in a book.
I absolutely loved Chelsea's sweet personality and her kind heart and, most of all, her confidence within herself. Chelsea knew her worth and wasn't going to let anyone take that from her. She was also an amazing friend. Despite everything that she was going through personally, she made an effort to always be present for her friends and later on Alex. Watching her character grow was amazing. One of my favorite lines from Chelsea was when she was talking to Alex.
"I need you to understand something that I have learned." Her voice was quiet but firm, and I nodded.
"I don't need you."
That was a HUGE moment! Not only for Chelsea but as readers. Sometimes, we get so caught up in a relationship, and we forget about ourselves while making the other person the center of it. Chelsea really wasn't going to let Alex have that power to destroy her like he did previously.
As far as Alex, I loved that he fully supported Chelsea and listened to her needs and wants. He really did help her chase after her dreams while not sacrificing his either. I loved the brotherly banter between him and Julian. Those scenes made me laugh, I always love that type of relationship, whether it's from a friend or brother, etc. I love that Julian and Tatum were in this book took! Vee Taylor just did absolutely wonderful writing them in the book without them overshadowing Alex and Chelsea story.
Vee Taylor, you did an absolutely amazing job with book #2. I'm definitely in love with the Marchetti men, and there is just no way I can pick which brother I love more!!! Lol. As a quote from Vampire Diaries, "It's okay to love them both."

i really enjoyed the FMC in this book! i loved her being brave enough to explore herself and what she liked. she had a lot of confidence and i always value that in FMCs!
the spice was written really well in this book and i also enjoyed the suspense factor with the blackmailing.
this book was enjoyable, but also fell flat for me at times. i didn't really jive with the writing, unfortunately and while this was kind of marketed as a bully romance, it was absolutely not that. just bc the MMC may say something rude a time or two doesn't make it "bully". 😕

But Chels? She is the most relatable & selfless FMC. I loved her with my entire heart. Her growth in this book felt so real and also very empowering.

I was blown away by Vее Taylor's writing in this book, which was my first frоm her but сertainly not thе last. Thе book had mе hооked frоm thе start with thе amazing АNGST bеtwееn thе main characters. I lovеd how thе story explored thе dynamic of a рowerful man and a womаn whо chаllenges him and chаnges his lifе. Thе chemistry and tension bеtwееn thеm was so well-written thаt I cоuldn't stoр reаding. I'm еagеrly waiting fоr more frоm this аuthor

This is my first Vee Taylor book, but definitely not my last. Let me just start off by saying THE ANGST!!! in this book in phenomenal. I love the trope of a man in a powerful position and a woman who comes into his life and completely turns it upside down. The tension between the two is so beautifully crafted that it made it impossible to put the book down. Can't wait for more!

second guess is the second book in the series that tells the story of the marchetti family and in this one the protagonists are alex and chelsea.
alex is a senator who, like his brother julian, has sworn to never leave room for love in his life again. but when julian marries tatum, he meets all of tatum's best friends, including chelsea. from the first time alex labels her as an exhibitionist and flaunting girl, who lives her life thriving in the thrill of danger.
but when he discovers that among tatum's friends she was the one at the secret club and the one who said his name out loud, he becomes intrigued, especially after getting to know her better. alex however as a senator and future governor, cannot afford scandals.
chelsea is a sweet and kind girl, who puts her friends before herself, even though she is aware of her value and does not let anyone walk all over her. watching her grow and mature was fantastic, but above all it was seeing alex completely change his attitude towards her and that even in the moments when he said he couldn't stand her, he supported her and listened to her.
we also find julian and tatum again and the relationship between the two brothers is explored in depth, making us discover the background better and that the two, despite being high profile people, have a normal relationship, full of arguments and discussions.
i can't wait to read the book by elio, julian and alex's father!!

After realizing they might have more in common than they thought, Alex must save Chelsea from one of their shared secrets before it’s too late.

Ohhh these Marchetti brothers are too good- Alex is a clean cut, mean as heck politician mafia man but ohhhh how he falls for Chelsea! I loved how unapologetic she was as an fmc and was finding her place in the world and managed to bring out his softer side;) They accidentally hooked up while masked and are both these golden sunshine people on the outside with dark desires they fulfill with each other, so so good! My favorite thing is that all the characters in this series are so intriguing you just want more and more! I read it in one sitting, it’s another goodie in the series for sure!

This one was so much better than the first one by far. Her getting kidnapped versus the first book where the boyfriend took her was executed so much better. There was a point that information was being told. I know immediately it was her brother who is the head of the mob. I really enjoyed the twist. I love Chelsea’s personality and everything about her character and could have read even more. Alex’s personality was also great to read loved the dynamic between them.

I received this book as an ARC to review! Needless to say it met every expectation that I wanted. There were lies, hurt, anger all to unravel! The good girl who tends to be bad when no one is around and the politician who has a hell of a mean streak. They make the perfect power couple. This books shows that no matter how hard you fight feelings, the universe will pull you back.

I could not put the book down wanted to find out what comes next. I love the fmc Chelsea and she resginated a lot to me in my mindset and her view in the world. I also enjoy the fact that she is the type to do anything for the people that she loves. Overall one of my favorite reads this year.

Alex Marchetti is an ice-cold politician who is trying to be elected as the governor of California. On the outside, he is clean cut, driven and ruthless. He knows what he wants and that is to be elected governor. On the inside, though, Alex has preferences and desires that would make people look at him differently if they found out.
Chelsea is a bubbly, beautiful woman who gives off this good girl persona. On the outside, she has her life together. She has a job, friends she adores and a home she is proud of. What people don’t know is how dark her past is. She lost her parents when she was a teen and she kind of spiraled. She enjoys going to Vegas and letting loose and none of her friends know.
While in Vegas at her friend Tatum’s bachelorette party, Chelsea gets invited to a secret club where she has the most amazing night of her life…until she figures out who the other participant in the night’s romp is…. The man she despises, Alex Marchetti.
Alex and Chelsea have a hate-filled relationship. Neither of them sees eye-to-eye. Alex thinks she’s some spoiled, ditzy brat and Chelsea can’t get passed how mean and uncaring Alex is. What they can’t fight, though, is the electricity in the air when they look at each other.

I devoured this book. It hooked me from the very beginning (actually, I was hooked on the Marchetti men at the end of One Chance and could not wait to get my hands on this book).

Chelsea grew up feeling like she had to put on this good girl persona and be all bubbly and carefree all the time. She has other things she likes to explore sexually, and she thought her friends would see her differently if they found out. She didn’t have the best upbringing, and that made her also try and hide parts of herself.
Alex also had to hide parts of himself. On the outside, he’s a gorgeous, smart people-person. But he also has some desires that would put people into a tizzy if they found out. Since he was vying to be the governor, he couldn’t let his desires get out, which is why he frequented an exclusive club.
Alex and Chelsea were constantly bickering and really didn’t even know each other. When they found out how similar they really are, is when the angst, the heat, and spice turned way up in this book. They both finally found someone who shares the same desires, and they were just perfect for each other. They both had big goals and supported one another, and their chemistry was HOT!

While in Vegas at her friend Tatum’s bachelorette party, Chelsea gets invited to a secret club where she has the most amazing night of her life…until she figures out who the other participant in the night’s romp is…. The man she despises, Alex Marchetti.

This book right here made me want to throw my phone across the room, then go run and pick it back up and read some more 🤣🤣 I seriously love Chelsea's character even more so when we found more to her than what she let on to her friends. Alex, on the other hand I wanted to slap and to defend my girl lol. There was some scenes where I was like. Okay. You're getting mad at her for no apparent reason and then there was scenes where I was awee in admiration on what he was doing for her. I loved how this became a hate to love type of relationship. You really call all the feels from both sides. The story plot was truly remarkable. I loved every bit of it! The author did another fantastic job creating the two characters.

I wish I can write more without spoiling it but it's definitely a great read.

I love Chelsea so much, she’s self-confident, sweet, and kind hearted, a loyal friend and my favorite part of her, she’s aware of her self worth. She’s the kind of girl who will never give you the time of day to walk all over her. Her character was well-written since the beginning, but her growth throughout the book is what impresses me!
on to our grumpy, hot as shit, ice cold, morally gray MMC, Alex. A driven, ruthless, uncaring governor in the running. I love how he was written to not be impressed by Chelsea at all in the beginning, she’s got boys tripping over their feet for her, while Alex didn’t bat an eye. Buuutt because I only read romance, that cold demeanor he once had, grew to falling for our girl Chels.
I loved every moment of Second Guess, the burning hot spice, the ANGST!! 🥵

WOW! Vee Taylor killed it with this one! I read One Chance and fell in love with Julian and Tatum so I knew going into the second book I would love the characters as well! But holy moly Alex and Chelsea have my whole heart! They were both so broken but together they were whole!
In this book we meet Chelsea who has always been the good girl and done what she has been told. She lost her parents when she was younger so only has her brother as her remaining family. She keeps things about herself hidden like where she lives, her desires, and who she really is. She loves her friends but she feels it is safer to keep them in the dark.
Alex Marchetti is a calculated man and he is married to his work. His brother, himself, and father took an oath to give up women when they lost the boys' mother. Julian, Alex's brother, found himself in love with Tatum and gave up everything to be with her. Alex was to be the governor of California so he had no time to settle down. He was also part of the mafia and worked hard to maintain his presence with that.
Alex and Chelsea find themselves together when Julian and Tatum get married. They get off on the wrong foot and immediately write each other off. But, when they find themselves in the same masked club (if you catch my drift) they end up hooking up. Chelsea is able to tell it's Alex but Alex has no idea it's Chelsea.
Secrets keep piling up and eventually things come to a head. But can Alex and Chelsea really be together? You will have to read to find out!
This book had such great spice and emotion! But also had some suspense that kept you on the edge of your seat! I loved the character development of both Alex and Chelsea! They were both better versions of themselves when they came together! I definitely can't wait for the next book in the series as Vee left a few crumbs!

I really enjoyed One Chance and had been looking forward to Chelsea’s story. This did not disappoint, in fact I loved this even more. It was steamy, angsty, emotional and filled with a level of suspense that had me so invested I finished ot in one sitting. I loved that it continued on and we got to see more of Tatum and Julian and their journey.
I loved Chelsea so much, she was sweet, strong, confident and knew her self worth. Despite battling her demons she knew she deserved better and I think we could all take a leaf out of her book. Her character development and growth was amazing, and her speech to Alex about not 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 him, had me super emotional.
Despite their unique meeting, I loved how Alex saw the real her and bought out that darkness which was inside of her, bringing to light who she really was behind the facade she wore. He gave her the space and support to truely be herself and in return, she showed him the light to his darkness. Their connection and chemistry was undeniable and you could feel the sizzling tension and chemistry through the pages.
Alex was an asshole and as much as I wanted to hate him, the more we found out about him the more it became apparent he used it as a front so nobody could get close. Under that exterior was a sweet man who was letting fear rule him. His character was so well developed and the growth we saw in him was written and handled amazingly well. He was obsessive, protective and so supportive of her knowing her past and struggles. The things he did for her had me melting in a puddle, this man was the ultimate book boyfriend.
I love the dynamic between the characters and it gives major found family vibes which gives me the warm and fuzzies. Throughout the story, I was dying to find out more about Daphne with the crumbs we were being given and the sneak peek for her book made me gasp, I cannot wait to read her story!

I may be exposing myself as a notorious book whore but I needed more. The whole set up of Alex and Chelsea being kink seekers wasn’t explored much past their first initial interaction and the elevator scene. I saw more kink in Julian despite Alex claiming to have darker taste.
My biggest problem with this book is the story’s development. Chelsea saw Alex one time when they banged and she didn’t even know it was him until halfway through and then the next time they’re going to a floral arrangement together and in that moment she’s in love with him?

Nevertheless I’m invested in the Marchetti men & their story. It’s like my sister retelling me a story and telling me details I don’t care to know, but leaving out all the ones I want to know. I still want to hear the story despite the delivery. It got too fluffy towards the end I found myself skipping over long metaphorical & cringey love expressions… like is love a tornado or is it quicksand ? Too many metaphors can get cringey.
Also I wish she started calling him Mr. Governor sooner because THAT was hot.
Another favorable moment was when he high fives her. I was laughing my ass off. Overall many enjoyable scenes but just wish there were less cringey moments.

I may be exposing myself as a notorious book whore but I needed more. The whole set up of Alex and Chelsea being kink seekers wasn’t explored much past their first initial interaction and the elevator scene. I saw more kink in Julian despite Alex claiming to have darker taste.
My biggest problem with this book is the story’s development. Chelsea saw Alex one time when they banged and she didn’t even know it was him until halfway through and then the next time they’re going to a floral arrangement together and in that moment she’s in love with him?

Second Guess by Vee Taylor reminded me why I love billionaire mafia romances, because they’re always a good time and usually spicy.
This book definitely captured both of these traits and slowly pulled me out of a months long reading slump. Plus it was a fun story with some amazing characters.
I throughly enjoyed Taylor’s main characters Chelsea and Alex in this book. Especially the way they both had their public personas that they had placed upon them based on societal expectations. For Chelsea it was to always be the good girl or golden girl who was always well behaved. And for Alex it was to continue to maintain a clean record as a political figure, even if he and his brother were also running an empire. But most importantly I loved how these personas began to disappear and they showed their vulnerabilities and desires with each other. Which allows them to be themselves with each other and there was just something beautiful about watching those walls come down.
Also watching these two opposites who got off to wrong foot at their first meeting slowly fall for each other is always a fun journey. Especially when the man has a touch her and die vibe. Can anyone say ‘swooning’?
We also love the other characters playing meddling matchmaker by having Alex’s brother and Chelsea’s friend sharing a hotel room. Which obviously ensures a one room scene is coming and they finally are going to see if hate or lust/love is stronger.
I also enjoyed a lot of the story line that was filled with a lot of different elements and of course the spice was hot.
While overall I throughly enjoyed this book I will say that the plot/storylines seemed to be rushed and a bit jumbled at times. I really wish a lot of it was flushed out a bit more, and the book was a bit longer. At times it felt like certain things were thrown in there but felt like it was resolved a bit too quickly. In one case it was Chelsea’s family background and how it felt like it came and went a bit too fast without delving into what it all meant. Also I felt like with all the marketing I expected a bit more from the shmink club aspect, and still have thoughts and questions on why we didn’t get a bit more insight.
I also think some of these plot points left some characters to feel a bit underdeveloped and made me questions the choices they were going to make. Mainly for the way Chelsea’s brother responded to an event. I think if the reader saw more of him and his feelings and personality it would have been more believable.

I just wanna say thank you to Vee Taylor and flying pig PR for the opportunity to read the Arc for this book. I’m gonna start off by saying I was a little skeptical because I had a love hate relationship with One Chance because of the poor editing. This book was soo much better in terms of editing and all of that so it pulled me in very quickly. I loved Chelsea and Alex’s characters a lot. I did see a whole lot of the same ideas/things that the first book had that she did way better on which shows her writing is improving so much! This book was spicy, thrilling, and just kept me wanting more. About halfway through I did feel like it was starting to get to that rushed sense just like the first book. I really don’t think the characters would have fallen in love that fast like they did. I’m not really a big fan of the pet names but everyone has their own likes/dislikes. But this was a lot better than the first book and I feel that if the author slows down a little when rushing the characters into love it could be epic. Another thing was the banter/girl talk between the friends. I have a really hard time just seeing grown women talk the way they did. It was more like high school girls talking between each other about guys, their issues etc. Also the overuse of some of the same descriptive terms were a little too much for me. But honestly the author is going in the right direction. I enjoyed the book truly and I’m glad she did a little better job editing this one. It still had mistakes but not anything that made me want to put the book down like the first one. I was able to finish this in one sitting.
