Six years ago, Nora Cleary left for what she thought would be a wonderful career opportunity. She got all that and more, meeting Damisi Dalziel and falling in love. With the addition of a baby to their family, they embark on the next chapter in their lives. But motherhood isn’t the blissful joy they’d hoped. Along with late night feedings and screaming meltdowns, sheer exhaustion and hormones make for a rocky start to their idyllic new family. For every mother who has ever had a moment of buyer’s remorse when it comes to her baby, this is a short story that gives a glimpse of what happens after happily ever after.
Lynn Galli calls the Pacific Northwest home even though she's never written any software code, built an airplane, worn socks with sandals, or slung coffee. For the most part, she enjoys her real job but absolutely lives for the time she gets to spend writing.
Makes Three: A So Well As You Short Story provides a brief glimpse into the lives of Nora and Damisi a few years after their marriage. The arrival of a new baby makes life both more interesting and more complicated. Post-partum depression is not an easy topic but, within the limitations of a novella format, the story arc does a decent job of depicting Damisi’s struggles. There are also several fun updates on the lives of many of the secondary characters. This is a very enjoyable read which is over far too quickly.
I don’t think there has been a book released thats I have not loved from Lynn Galli. I hope this is just a taste of what might be a 4th Scottish Charm book. With this installment we get to see the “Cowgirl” and the “Professor” six years after the ending of So Well As You. It seems that all the family’s from that first story have grown and Damisi is struggling with the birth of her Daughter that comes a month early.
