An Enchanting Cinderella Retelling Set on the Oregon Trail… After losing her mother early in the journey to Oregon, Adella is left to grieve with her stepfather and two cruel stepsisters. At the end of each day, frustration and exhaustion threaten to destroy the kindness she’d grown up learning from her mother. Finding comfort in the stars and the unexpected friend that comes into her life, Adella continues the trying journey to Oregon, not sure what to expect when she gets there. Patrick is no stranger to moving from place to place. From a young age, covered wagons and bonfires have been his home, as his father settled his family in new places. But the trip to Oregon is much harder than he’d been expecting. As the Captain’s son, he has many responsibilities around camp and he keeps his focus on helping fellow travellers. Until one night he meets a strange girl who talks of stars and dreams. Can kindness survive in the darkest of times? And can dreams made upon shooting stars really come true?

CINDERELLA MEETS PRINCE CHARMING ON THE OREGON TRAIL

I am a huge fan of Ms. Morgan Dawson and wasn’t disappointed with this second book in the series. In this story, the prince, Patrick, will rescue Cinderella, Adella, from an uncertain fate. Along this journey, Adella and Rose are dear friends.

Adella Lawson has recently lost her mother in an accident on the journey to Oregon. She is traveling with her stepfather and two stepsisters who treat her as if she were their servant. No matter how cruelly they treat her, she tries to remember the lesson in kindness her mother taught her.

Patrick Cohen is one of the scouts, and his father is the wagon master for this wagon train traveling to Oregon. He notices that in the Thomas wagon, only one girl does all the work, while Mr. Thomas and the other two girls socialize. He will start taking her wood for their fire and spend time with her. She will share bits and pieces of her life before the journey.

The story is Cinderella meets wagon train and even has two evil stepsisters. When the night of the ball—or in this case, a night for music and dancing, and a break from their daily travels, Adella is informed by her stepfather that she must stay behind and do chores. Adella has promised a dance to Patrick, but she won’t risk going against Mr. Thomas. But alas, there is magic in the works!

Woman: Aren’t you aware there is a dance going on at the other side of camp?
Adella: Yes, I know.
Woman: So why are you kneeling in the mud and washing laundry?
Adella: I cannot go. I have chores to do.
Woman: But you must. Every girl deserves to go and dance with her friends and perhaps even a handsome, young man.
Adella: Who are you?
Woman: I’m Faye Gottsmutter, my dear. I’d like to help you.

The story will be about life along the Oregon Trail, which also includes moments of sadness. It will be Adella, staying strong, trying to remain kind, even when kindness only comes her way from strangers. The friendship that developed between Rose and Adella—and then with Adella and Patrick. When true love is in the air, not even evil stepfamily members can interfere. I enjoyed the story, the journey along the trail, and the sweet, clean romance that develops.

When we meet Adela she is on the Oregon Trail with her stepfather Mr. Thomas and her stepsisters Matilda and Emily the sisters aren’t kind to her at all in their main focus in life is to find a grand gentleman and then the case of the Oregon Trail it is the trail leaders son Patrick the only thing is Patrick after meeting Adele starts to fall for her and her stories about the night sky and the fact she saved a little crippled mouse she named Hercules after one of the constellations. When Patrick talks his father into giving a two day rest and having a dance he cannot wait to swing Adela around the dance floor but unfortunately due to her sisters tantrums and lies the stepfather says Adela cannot go to the dance. This is when the story emerges from just a sweet romance to a sweet fairytale retelling because while washing clothes on the river a nice older lady who has the best name ever her name was Faye God Smitter just so happens to have the most beautiful dresses and a mask to cover a Dallas Faye so her family cannot recognize her but one person does Patrick. I’m going to stop here because I did not want to tell the rest of the story this was an absolutely sweet historical romance and I would’ve given it five stars but I think Adela didn’t know the difference between being nice and being a doormat not just that I wish before having a change of heart the girls and their father would’ve gotten their comeuppance because they were absolutely brutal to poor Adela and she was almost kins to the point to where it seem pathological I mean even the nicest people can only take so much and Adela had other options on the trail besides staying with them it’s things like that that frustrate me in books like this but the romance was so sweet I still give it four stars and cannot wait to read the other books in this fabulous Siri‘s. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I got wrapped up in this book and stayed up too late reading. I did finish it though. Adella is a charming character that you feel for right from the start. Her step family treats her awful. I loved the way the pet mouse got brought into the story even if the things surviving even its first brush with death seems highly unlikely - but then perhaps that is just bringing in some of the fairytale to the tale. Pairing her with the Captain's son is a nice parallel to Cinderella and the prince.

As for the Captain's son - his character is just as compelling as Adella's. Though he is close to his father, he has dealt with lost too - his mother and brother as well as those he feel responsible for on the trail. Those trials add compassion to his kind personality.

Though there are things I may have wanted to happen differently or wanted more of, the tale is still captivating and exciting - with a happily ever after ending. Just what you would expect in a fairytale retelling. I am looking forward to the next in the series. Interested to see how she brings Sleeping Beauty to life because I have no ideas myself.

Adella is a beautiful, unique retelling of the Cinderella story. We meet Adella who is travelling west to Oregon with her family when tragedy strikes and takes her Mother. Adella is left with the step sisters and her step father who don't really treat her well. Scout Patrick Cohen's job is to look out along the trail for hazards and for the people under his fathers leading on the trail. I absolutely loved Adella, Patrick story including hercules. This was a well written, clean, sweet, historical romance with a little magic in the mix!

Adella

A sweet romance full of hardship grief betrayal romance love and forgiveness the characters are very well portrayed even the more unsavoury ones. Patrick and Adella's story and of course Hercules was a bonus to this tale, the storyline was easy to follow and I enjoyed following it. I will read more from this author who is so young but tells such avid tales that keep you gripped all the way through thank you Morgan this series has been a pleasure to read.

Adella and Patrick 💞

Adella was a wagon train Cinderella with her two evil stepsisters. Although she had a wicked stepfather instead of mother.

Then she met her Prince Charming, Patrick. Theirs was a very sweet romance.

I think, though, that Hercules was the star of this book 😉

very nice

Very nice a new twist on a fairytale. It is written by Morgan Dawson and is written very well. A young woman looses her mother on the Oregon Trail and is left with her step father and two step sisters. So can happen? An enjoyable read and like all fairytales happily ever after.

Sweet!

Lovely retelling of a pioneer version of Cinderella. This one also has a happily ever after! But heartache comes through the journey and a mouse is her source of happiness. Great read!

Magical

I love Oregon Trail stories but this one has a magical twist, made it special. Great characters but the wicked step father added a different touch. Hercules just stoked the show.
