SAPIENCE Michael Nelson is an MP sergeant and the head of security for the Army's Pacific research base on Holiday Island. It's an isolated, third-rate base and that's just the way Nelson likes it as he whiles away his time under the Pacific sun.
But something has been happening to the ants on Holiday Island. Something horrible. A cognitive evolution that has granted them collective intelligence. Now, newly and fully sapient, they have decided to make Holiday Island their own.
When this new super-predator turns against the humans on the island in a wave of violence, it is Nelson who must come to the rescue. Nelson will save who he can, fighting back against an almost incomprehensible threat before it is too late. He's the wrong guy at the wrong time, caught up in the middle of a nightmarish evolutionary battle where intelligence wins.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This book kept me glued to the pages! I loved the isolated setting and the idea of ants becoming some kind of intelligent monster! It reminded me a little of the movie The Thing. There are lots of scares and action, but the ideas really sold it for me. The author has a lot of interesting ideas about evolution and what another intelligent species might be like. Would be be able to tell they were intelligent? Would they think we were? Very interesting. I also really liked the anti-hero main character. He was cool and had some slick one-liners. Can't wait to see something else from this author. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
