This was different then the other Mafia romances that I have read. In this one, it focuses more on the romance then what actually happens when someone comes after them. He wants to protect her, but he tries to take her out of the business where she was the right hand of her father. They never got to know each other before they were married, so he had no idea what she could actually do. They had a problem with communication also, niether knew how to talk to the other. She was very inexperienced with men because she never dated, and he was a playboy who was into one night stands. They finally find out that marriage takes a lot of work to make it. A good book to read for the romance part.
Honestly, this book was so cute the whole them netting at the bar just briefly seeing each other and then ended up being an arrange marriage to both of them and she said yes quicker than anything. I understand where she had a come from when he wasn’t letting her into his business she grew up the same way as he did. It’s just he was doing is a lot more longer. He was caging her up and she didn’t like that. I like that abought her she was fire, fierce, saying no I’m coming with you. Honestly love this book. Super short, cute book.
The MMC's name changed from Marco to Marcus mid book and that was the least of it. With that being said the bones of the story weren't bad. It felt disjointed and jumped without explanation at times. It felt like the author was ticking points off a list rather than telling a story. Which is why I found myself not fully immersing myself in the story. I'll try the next book in the series but don't have I hopes.
Mafia romance stories are my favorite especially when you have such a good author writing the stories the ending was awesome I should say the whole story is awesome!
They both belong to rival mafia families who find themselves married to stop the bloodshed. Kayla is a strong character in her own right but paired with Marcus the combination is explosive. Will they be able to weather the dynamics between them and find happiness together.
This is the most ridiculous book I've read in a while. I could only make it 60% and decided it wasn't worth my time to read. Run from this book! Shirley

Not sure what to think about this ‘mafia’ book… A 40 year old MMC (and heir ) that has no protection, his father has no protection, his wife has no protection - at one point he didn’t even know where she was?? There is not one mention of bodyguards, underboss or other characters apart from the 2 fathers, MMC, FMC and her sister… not even any ‘mafia’ business …. The apartment has a fire, they go to a safe house, and all we get to know from the father of the MMC is that it’s been sorted??? This is that not your typical Mafia book that’s for sure!!!! Boring and lacks substance.
The book feels rushed and incomplete. I think there is a lot of potential to explore and delve into certain aspects of the book, in depth. For example, Kayla’s involvement in the family business. We could have seen Kayla actually working her father’s business having more conversations with Marco about her involvement in the VOLKOV business, her actually working there and finding her place. Also, the issue with this couple is they could have communicated more and better. Overall I’m not happy with this one. It’s not hit the mark for me.
