"I deserve Hell and because of Christ, I'm getting Heaven"

Right from the very first page I was hooked. A riveting story about the steadfast and unwavering love of God.

Kate only knew her earthly father as cold and stubborn after tragedy struck their family. First chance she got, she left her home town with the intentions of never returning. When she is forced to return eight years later to attend to her fathers affairs as he lays in wait for eternal life, Kate is met with stories of redemption and testimonies of a man she does not recognize. She grapples with believing the man she left behind was the same man in everyone's stories of faith and kindness. Through written letters addressed to Kate from her father, she finds forgiveness in her heart and a love of an eternal father. In these letters he confesses to a secret he has been keeping for years, one that is quickly coming to light through a chain of devastating events.

Ms. Smith has created a work of art that will stick with me for years. With suspense, a second chance at love, found family, and unconditional love - I quickly became emotionally invested in this story. Through character relationships and growth, She has done a fantastic job creating a story with truths of the Gospel and relating it to human relationships. They will fail, however the heavenly Father never will. Before I even finished the book I was raving to whoever would listen about how captivating it is! If you love Christian fiction (or want to read it for the first time) AND suspense I HIGHLY recommend Next of Kin. Now.... on to book 2!

Man, I loved this book. The plot twist toward the end, the character development of the main character, the flash backs, the warm homey feeling you get when reading about the Tyler family, and the salvation story of the main character were all stand out pieces of this book. This is one I wish I could read again for the first time.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end! Original plot with exciting, unexpected twists. Likeable characters and troubled antagonists entwined in a thrilling, yet beautiful redemptive story. Couldn't put it down and can't wait to read next in series!
