This poet, playwright, novelist, dramatist, essayist, visual artist, statesman, and perhaps the most influential, important exponent of the Romantic movement in France, campaigned for human rights. People in France regard him as one of greatest poets of that country and know him better abroad.

یادداشت نویسی و یادداشت خوندن رو خیلی دوست دارم. آخرین روز یک محکوم [به اعدام] هم دقیقاً چنین فرمی رو داره. دست‌نوشت‌های آخرین روزهای یک محکوم به اعدام. براساس سه چیزی که از هوگو خوندم، کاملاً وارد فضای ذهنی‌اش و دغدغه ای که برای موضوعات اجتماعی-انسانی-کیفری داره، شدم. مسئله‌ دار بودنِ وضعیت زمانهٔ خودش. به قول خود شخصیت ماجرا، به امید اینکه کسی این نوشته‌ها/کتاب رو بخونه و بفهمه که آخرین روزها چطور می گذره و چه خوب اگر که دستی در امور کیفری داشته باشه. هر چند که بعیده.
