Good plot. Needs editing.

Great series as far as a story plot goes. Writer likes to describe things like textures, feelings and bit much and leave out scene changes. The biggest issue are the lack of edits.

What I love about thrillers is how the story slowly unravels. This one may not have a huge twist, but it definitely kept me flipping pages. I couldn’t wait to know who the killer was, and when I found out, it honestly made me feel sad. It’s the kind of reveal that could happen in real life. Sometimes the people who manipulate you are the ones closest to you, and that’s scary because it shows how easy it is for someone to hide their true intentions.

In the end, this book reminds you that the real danger isn’t always the most obvious one. Sometimes it’s the darkness you don’t see coming.

Rachel & Ethan catch one of three men who broke into her parents' house. They get called to go to a case of three missing women on Galveston Island. There's a casino being built there & several people are upset. After finding a body they uncover another crime involving one of the other victims. Then after they find another body more clues help them with the search. Rachel finally gets some answers she never expected about her parents. Great book!

Rachel is following a lead on her parents' disappearance when she is called to work on a three-missing girls case in Galveston Island which will progress to being a murder cases. She and Ethan are misled and end up uncovering much more than the murdered women, there's something sinister going on on the island and they'll only understand it in the final chapters of the story. There is some unexpected news regarding Rachel's parents and not for the better!
I thank Ms. Pierce and her publisher for this ARC.

Women in Galveston are disappearing and are being found dead. Does it involve the construction of a new casino? Who is doing this? Intrepid Rachel Blackwood, Texas Ranger is on the case.
