Where rain falls is a novel about the importance of platonic love and friendship, as well as the romantic love. It tells a story about a character named River who is challenged to face the consequences of expressing his true feelings towards his friend Carter. Their whole friend group, also including Parker, Hayden and Jordan, subsequently falls apart because of it and River is suddenly left dealing with his young adult life on his very own.

I love the way Anouk perfectly sets a scene for you. With all the small details described by her you can’t help but feel like you are in the room with them. This book is a perfect read for people who love autumn and the cozy vibe that comes with it. It will make you want to grab a cup of tea/coffee, your favorite pastry and slowly get lost in Anouk’s beautiful storytelling.

The characters all symbolizing their own flower is a very thoughtful and meaning touch.

Where rain falls is a celebration of life-long friendships with all the characters eventually finding their way back to each others lives. It also talks about dealing with mental health issues and feeling lost in your own identity. It’s a reminder to not be afraid to be unapologetically yourself and to be able to heal from your past.

I think this books covers a very important topics and I can’t help but be proud of Anouk for speaking up about them.

There was nothing I was missing from this novel and I gladly give this book a 5/5 rating.

" for people who make the flowers bloom "

I really like the way River's feelings were described. Throughout the book, you get a good sense of his struggles and how his mind works. We see how he feels with the whole situation, and we watch as the friend group slowly rekindles and what thought process goes through River. The character is showing how it can be okay to struggle. It is okay to go to therapy and it is also okay to make some steps back. To Let yourself spiral a little bit before picking yourself up again. It gave a lot of comfort to me as a person who struggles with their mental health as well and it is a great representation.

All of the characters were amazing in their own right. Unapologetically themselves and not afraid to share their uniqueness with the world. It's a story about accepting your own quirks, finding your own boundaries, and healing through time and effort.

I really liked how a lot of focus was put on healthy relationships and friendships. The talks about boundaries and problem solving were amazing.

I really loved reading this story and seeing how everything ties in. And the ending was great as well. Though the book was rather short, it didn't feel like it was missing anything.

This book is perfect for cozy autumn days ! Grab a cup of coffee/tea/hot chocolate and get lost in this book

This story is about River and a group of his close friends. When Rivers tells his friend Carter that he has be cheating on, there is a big fight. River walks away and is starting a life somewhere else. River has the feeling that he is living in a world where he doesn't fit in . He's searching for a daily routine to survive in this harsh world.

When he finally learned to menage life, his history is coming back. Can he survive this?

Where rains falls is a beautiful story about a man somewhere on the spectrum finding his place in the harsh world, a world where he doesn't fit in. Anouk describes this struggles very lively and for me ( I am also on the spectrum) some struggles are very recognisable.

It also about platonic friendship and accepting each other flaws. Especially the friendship between River and Parker is so beautiful, because it is nice to have a friend who knows what is good for you, even better than yourself.

Anouk writes very detailed and most of the time the story is very realistic. My only problem is that River don't recognise his old friends. It feels a little bit unrealistic for me.

I really enjoyed this story about love and friendship with a touch of autism, asexuality and homosexuality.

'Where Rain Falls' is a heartwarming novel that explores themes of mental health, platonic soulmates and rekindling old friendships.

The story invites readers to step into the world of River, who struggles with anxiety and spiraling thoughts, that continually challenge his peace of mind.

When he confides in his best friend Carter about his boyfriend's infidelity, a fiery confrontation leads him to sever all ties with his friend group.

A few years later, his journey takes an unexpected turn, as the past he left behind resurfaces, when his former friends one by one unexpectedly reenter his life.

At this point, River is still grappling with anxiety, seeking solace in therapy and his daily routines to make it through each day.

He strives to rebuild his life while rediscovering the bonds that once connected him to his friends.

As the story unfolds the group gradually rekindles, and the narrative ties up all its loose ends to craft a happy ending.

In this book, one of the standout qualities is the portrayal of a main character dealing with mental health issues and undergoing therapy, which is a refreshing and much-needed representation.

River's journey underscores the significance of maintaining routines and establishing healthy boundaries in effectively managing mental health. A perspective I deeply resonate with, due to my own struggles with anxiety.

What truly shines in this novel is the genuine kindness that the friends show toward each other, when they reconnect. Their interactions are characterized by empathy, kindness and support.

Moreover, the author beautifully portrays how they spend quality time together, forging and reinforcing their bonds through shared moments of laughter, understanding, and shared experiences. These elements add depth to the story.

Furthermore the importance of open and honest conversations as the linchpin of resolving conflicts and misunderstandings within the friend group is effectively highlighted.

My favorite aspect of the book therefore lies in the dialogues shared among the friends regarding mental health and their boundaries. These conversations are not only inspiring but also serve as a guiding light for readers.

Additionally, the authenticity and diversity of the entire friend group makes the characters relatable and endearing.
Reading about the former friends
rekindling their friendship
was incredibly heartwarming and comforting for me.

I particularly loved how the author beautifully likened the friend group to a vibrant bouquet of flowers, that complement and complete each other.
Therefore the book's cover art beautifully encapsulated the essence of the story.

In addition to the book, there's an accompanying soundtrack on Spotify that enhances the overall reading experience. These five songs seamlessly weave into the narrative, aligning their lyrics with the book's central themes.
Hence, it becomes a valuable addition to the story.

In my opinion, 'Where Rain Falls' is a must-read for anyone seeking a wholesome and introspective literary journey.

This book is the perfect companion for rainy autumn days. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a comforting and inspiring read.

DNF @ 42%.

While there are some really lovely aspects of this, it’s a matter of them being overshadowed by other things.

There’s a decent amount of typos. The wrong word used now and then I can ignore. But there is lack of capitalization in sentences and for whatever reason, a single apostrophe cannot be found when talking about Parker’s this or River’s that. It’s just Parkers and Rivers, and it’s annoying af.

I don’t know why Parker is still consider the one person who would always have his back, since he didn’t when River needed him to.

And I really don’t get the whole Rose/Hayden thing. How does he not recognize her?

It’s a lovely, emotional read… but at the end of the day, I still want the books I read to make sense.

A beautiful, adorable story.
Refreshing, unpredictable, very delicate, almost magical.
It has the freshness of a debut book, it feels written with love.
Is shipping friendship a thing? I did that the whole book 🥰
