As soon as I read the description of this debut I knew I had to get my hands on it. I loved every single minute of this book! The premise is so unique and intriguing that I had to see what it was all about. Listen to this and tell me if you are not just as intrigued as I was...Pippa recalled that Dan had stated to her that by leaving her the notebook he wanted her to "rewrite her fairytale." Oh my lord, right then and there my heart melted.

After three long years without her husband Dan, it is finally time for Pippa to reluctantly read through the notebook he had written her. Her heart strings were tugged at as she recognized his messy writing and she relived their moments together in her mind. Yet surprisingly this was not depressing at all, as the author manages to make this into such a cute, funny book I found myself wanting to actually laugh out loud, I must admit I actually did a couple of times!

Pippa wonders what state of mind her husband was in to suggest she should fall in love with his buddy Mikey Stenton. Oh she knew who Mikey was. Mikey who shows his bare bottom on Instagram, wandering around the pubs with various women. Life's a party for Mikey Stenton, how could Dan think this was a good fit for a mother of three? Dan had left four notebooks, one for Pippa and one for each of the children, giving them a guideline on how to move on after his death. This struck me as such a thoughtful gesture, as he was "giving them permission" that life needed to go on and it was fine to move forward, he encouraged it. Except there was a fifth notebook written...who has that notebook and why?

Oh my gosh this book has so many hilarious scenarios and the journey that Pippa took made this a absolute joy to read. Fantastic debut Lucy Mitchell! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!

Favorite Quotes:

I take a sharp intake of breath at the news of Mrs Gladson and the imminent birth of her fourth child. When I saw her a few months ago in the school playground, she’d ballooned overnight and had a look of terror etched across her face.

You come across as their friend. I prefer to act like I’m unhinged. Kids pick up on this stuff. It’s good for kids to live with a bit of fear…

Your children are feral. If they’re not escaping down ladders to go underage drinking, they’re cutting all their hair off at parties.

I’ve found myself in new territory. For the first time in my life, I’m frantically thinking of excuses to leave a woman’s house. ‘Got to go,’ I stammer, searching for the door. She kisses me again, sucking the air out of me like a giant hoover.

My Review:

This was a fun and witty read, penned with wickedly clever wry humor and sharply honed and double-edged levity while cast with a large slate of amusingly annoying and dysfunctional characters. Pippa was an impractical widow of three years and had been heedlessly turning a blind eye to the carefully planned budget her dying husband had painstakingly drawn up for her, as well as to the brattiness and emotional needs of her three challenging children who by that point had been labeled as “feral” by their grandmother, and were largely beyond Pippa’s weak attempts at control, although she didn’t seem to be expending much effort to rein them in.

Her departed husband had always been the responsible and organized parent while Pippa was largely an airy-fairy, ineffectual, and exceedingly lame parent as in many ways she was just as irresponsible as her monstrously mouthy and beastly children. She had avoided processing her grief by ignoring her dead husband’s instructions and spending lavishly and willy-nilly in redecorating her home and indulging in her passion for baking. She received an embarrassing wakeup call, which finally seemed to have rattled the little pea in her brain when her under-aged teenaged daughter was carted home in a drunken state while Pippa had assumed she was upstairs asleep. Oh my, major parenting fail.

Ms. Mitchell has hit a home run with her debut publication by serving up a crisp and breezy writing style with engaging storylines that were edgily amusing while also heart-squeezing and observantly emotive.   I wouldn’t want to live anywhere near this loud and obnoxious family, but I enjoyed being privy to their inner workings as Pippa began to find her way back to herself and her dead husband’s thoughtful plan for her. I also scored a fun and irreverent new addition to my Brit Word List with coffin dodger – which is UK slang for the elderly.

5☆ A Poignant Second Chance Romance!

Instructions For Falling In Love is a Poignant Romance.

When Pippa's husband passed away, she would never expect to find a notebook that he had written for her on moving on after he has gone and how and who to find love with!
Just as the title suggests Instructions For Falling In Love again.

I mean it's definitely not something that I was expecting, but all the same it's actually quiet touching and thoughtful.

Except... the man in which he has chosen for her is in fact Mikey one of his friends.
But Mikey is a bit of a ladies man and the least likely to settle down, be family man, let alone support and rock for Pippa.
But is fun loving, caring Mikey just what Pippa needs?

Instructions For Falling In Love is a Poignant yet light hearted Romance, that has the perfect balance of Emotion and Humour.
The Characters are relatable and very well written.
It's a beautifully Compelling Story of Second Chances, Grief, Moving On, Learning to Love again, Family Dramas and Friendship.
This is Lucy Mitchell debut novel which really surprised me, I'm excited to see what she writes next!

If you are looking for a unique Second Chance Romance that is Heart Warming, then I highly recommend Instructions For Falling In Love.

Thank you to Sarah at Book On The Bright Side Tours for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I've been reading rom-coms for a long time now, to be honest they are one of my guilty pleasures. So when the opportunity arose to jump on to this blog tour and read this new debut, there was no way I was going to pass it up. Boy, am I glad I did.

Let me just make this easy, I loved this debut novel. It is truly one of the best rom-coms I have ever read, and I mean that wholeheartedly. This isn't your typical angsty relationship type, he said - she said book. Lucy Mitchell wrote a realisitc story that the reader could actually see and imagine happening in real life. The characters are original, they are relatable, and they could very easily be you or me. I wouldn't be shocked to see this one made into a screenplay. Not kidding.

We've all read books with dual POV, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but with this novel, the dual POV is what makes it work so well. Bouncing between Pippa and Mikey's lives and thoughts really gives you the connection you need to fall in love with these characters and truly feel their heartfelt emotions. The supporting cast in this book, the friends and family members, all have authentic personalities, and compliment the story well.

Instructions For Falling In Love Again is probably now my all time favorite debut rom-com novel. Lucy Mitchell knocked this one out of the park and wrote an original, new and fresh heartwarming comedy with one heck of a twist. I devoured this book in one sitting, and I expect any other reader will do the same. Ms. Mitchell gets a solid 4 1/2 stars from me, and it is well deserved. I am looking forward to reading whatever she comes up with next, and I hope when this one goes to film I get a chance to see it in premier!!

Thank you to Lucy Mitchell, Red Book Publishing and Sarah Hardy at Book on the Bright Side Publicity and Promo a copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

I struggled with this book and don’t think it was accurate to describe it as a ‘heart-warming romantic comedy’. I did not find it entertaining but saddening: the topics explored were quite grim and heavy-going and this made it difficult to read.

Pippa and her family are clearly struggling with the death of Dan, despite it now being several years. Pippa’s children are off the wall, often described as ‘feral’ and Pippa can barely control their behaviour. Yet, she soldiers on, leaning on her to close friends for support. Pippa herself is stuck in the past and, despite Dan’s notebook of instructions, telling her to move on, she clings to the memory of her husband and disregards all of his advice. Seeing the scenes of Pippa’s family, very early on I deduced that this is a family that needs counselling to help cope with the grief of losing a loved on. Instead, the writer seems to make light of Daisy’s uncontrollable behaviour, the younger children rebelling and Libby trying to run away from home. It just didn’t feel right to me.

The love interest, Mikey, is a love rascal, infamous for being involved in many one-night stands without a care in the world. However, a tragic event forces Mikey to re-evaluate his life and with it, it is revealed that Dan also wrote him a notebook about how to have Pippa fall in love with him. He is a cad and I disliked how much Mikey used other people, particularly early on in the novel. Yet, as his circumstances change, so does his personality and I enjoyed watching him grow as a person.

Yet, Mikey’s involvement with Sophie was one of the worst parts of the novel. The writer seems to make light of obvious child neglect and there is nothing done to make this right. Sophie is allowed to continue using others throughout the story and I disliked how there was no literary punishment for this character. It was uncomfortable to read about a child suffering as a result of a poor mother and I thought this made the story really difficult to read. It certainly did not lighten the mood of the story.

My favourite part was seeing Pippa rediscover herself, even if she is quite indecisive about it. The influence she allows her mother to have over her love life was frustrating and I liked how Daisy stands up to her at the end. Furthermore, when Pippa starts working at the café and her cakes are finally being celebrated, this was part of the story that felt most uplifting and positive. It was a pleasure to see Pippa laugh and smile again.

Overall, this book did not deliver and I felt quite morose by the end of the story. I know it is fiction, but I think some heavy issues were glossed over by the author and this just didn’t sit right with me.

With thanks to Bloodhound books for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

There are days when you really need a good Rom Com to fall into. A book that will make you forget the world around you as you immerse yourself in its fictitious one.
Well, that was me as I fell into Author Lucy Mitchell’s debut novel, Instructions For Falling In Love Again.
I found myself living alongside Pippa Browning, a recently widowed mother of three, who is just starting to get her life into some semblance of normality, after losing her beloved husband to cancer three years previously.
Being a single mother is never easy, and dealing with a teen bunny boiler in practice, and two children who know how to wreak havoc at just the right (or wrong) time, who are all dealing with the grief of losing their father, has her at her nerves end.
Pippa is lucky to have her two best friends, Mel and Emma, by her side, and the support of her sister Helen.
And she also has a book.
A notebook filled with wisdom that was left for her, written by her late husband, giving her clear instructions for how to get on with her life without him, by falling in love again.
With the wrong guy. Mikey Stenton – International playboy and all-round tart!
I was hooked.
I loved the characters of Pippa and her family, including her interfering mother, who wants the best for her daughter, but by her own standards, not her daughter.
I loved feisty Daisy, the teenage crazy girl who knows how to back her crushes into corners.
I loved Libby, the middle child with a talent for football, and a penchant for small furry animals.
I loved Billy, the youngest member of the Browning family, who was a typical little boy, always getting into arguments with his sister, and never brushing his hair.
Pippa’s friends are wonderfully supportive, quirky characters, who only want the best for their dear friend.
And I adored Mikey Stenton, the true tart with a heart – who goes from bed-hopping to school dropping… I shan’t say too much more, because I don’t want to give too much away.
Oh, and Pippa wasn’t the only one left with a notebook…
But seriously, there were some fantastic twists and turns, and I found myself in fits of giggles, in tears and in that “Aaaaawwwww!” moment too.
Do I recommend this book? Absolutely! What a great debut novel.
Lucy, I am waiting for more from you!

I’ve followed Lucy Mitchell’s blog for a couple of years now since meeting her at the Annual Bloggers Bash and have always enjoyed her humorous and entertaining writing style. So I was thrilled to learn she had written her debut novel and ofcourse I just had to add it to my reading list! I’m not always a lover of death and darkness (I do have a heart you know!) and love a bit of romance to cleanse my palate!

Lucy has pitched her plot perfectly for today’s dating game. Nowadays so few people actually meet the “old fashioned” way and apps like Tinder etc are a perfectly acceptable way to find love (I’m not saying its EASY just EASIER!!) so I adored the idea that before Pippas husband Dan died, he wrote her a guide to falling in love again. Not only that but he had actually picked out her new partner for her! The only problem was that the man he had decided on for her wasn’t “quite” who she would have expected him to choose!

This is a true to life romantic comedy that felt as though it truly came from the authors heart. Her characters felt well rounded and identifiable with their “warts and all” sharing of their problematic love life’s! The friendship shared by the three women grabbed me from the first few pages and I loved how the author built upon this before introducing the romantic aspect of the book. And I would certainly have fallen for the gorgeous Mikey too! But we still got a feel for Dan through his red book for Pippa plus the ones he put aside for his children too. There was a bittersweet feel to his advice. I’m not sure I would be so generous with my help for my loved ones after I’m gone!!!!!

This is a lovely debut by Lucy Mitchell who has honed her craft well through her blogging years but is now ready to share her beautifully expressive writing with a wider audience.

I've been a huge fan of Lucy's blog for years now, so I knew I was going to love her debut novel. And I did! Filled with her signature laugh-out-loud humor intertwined with heart-tugging emotion, I got caught up with Pippa, her unruly kids, her crazy best friends, and her intolerable mother. I know I love a story when I can't stop thinking of the characters long after I'm forced to put the book down to sleep or work.
Now, I've finished and I must wait for another one. When will that be, Lucy?

Wait, there’s only one book by Lucy Mitchell? The characters are so well developed that I feel like I know them as friends. Can we set Mel up with a football teammate? My husband and I agree; if either of us gets sick way down the road, we are going to write letters like this. Well done, looking forward to more!

‘I showed George the kitchen and now he’s disappeared.’
‘George?’ In my head, I’m praying she’s […] not brought a bloody field mouse into Mel’s kitchen.’
‘The mouse.’
‘What?’ I shriek. ‘Why did you bring him in here?’
Libby starts to tremble. ‘He told me he likes coffee shops.’
‘He’s a field mouse, Libs, he likes fields. There is a big clue in the word.’

This is a snapshot of Pippa Browning’s chaotic life.

With a teenage daughter whose stalking tendencies have landed her in trouble at school, a football mad son whose aim favours windows, and a youngest child with a penchant for collecting small furry animals, grieving widow Pippa is barely holding it together. While her children run wild, she finds solace in baking cupcakes (which she is good at) and spending her husband Dan’s life insurance pay out (which she is also good at).

But Pippa is lonely, and after three years of managing on her own, she realises that it might be time to look for love again. Negotiating the world of dating again after losing the man you’ve loved for fifteen years was never going to be easy, but whilst clearing out some drawers, she finds a notebook Dan has left for her, a notebook filled with instructions for falling in love again. He’s even nominated a candidate, his footballing friend Mikey Stenton, a hedonistic bachelor with a playboy reputation. Dan tells Pippa to look beyond Mikey’s reputation, but why would she do that when she spent their entire married life doing the opposite of what he said?

Supported by her friends Mel and Emma, Pippa throws herself into the world of online dating but suddenly Mikey Stenton seems to be everywhere, and even though he’s the last person she wants to go out with, there’s something about him which makes her heart flutter…

Lucy Mitchell has created a warm, engaging, roller coaster ride of a book with moments of genuine pathos. In Pippa, we see a transition from hapless, hopeless pushover to a woman who, through her mistakes discovers her own agency and in so doing also discovers just how well her husband really knew her. The parallel transformation of Mikey Stenton was for me, almost more captivating. Mitchell throws plenty of obstacles in Mikey’s way, hurdles which ultimately bring out the side of him which Dan had always been able to see.

A charming read and an accomplished debut. Highly recommended!

Such an accomplished debut novel, I loved it all and now bereft from the characters I’ve grown to love.

Full review to follow …

I absolutely and utterly adored this debut novel by Lucy Mitchell. It was such an accomplished read that ticked all the boxes for a heartfelt romcom that I am excited for the future for Lucy Mitchell's writing career.
Instructions For Falling In Love Again is such a bitter sweet love story as Pippa Browning had to endure the worst of heartbreaks and begin a healing process with the added strength and guidance from the words by her late husband Dan. Dan sadly passed away three years ago and he loved his wife and family so much he gave them all little notebooks with instructions on how to cope with life without him. It's been three years since Pippa and her three children received their respective notebooks and life for the four of them without Dan has continued in a fashion but Pippa feels a strength within her now to read and acknowledge the words that Dan left her.
Mikey Stenton is a lovable rogue who is known for countless shenanigans with the opposite sex. He's a fun loving guy and jack the lad but when life throws a crushing blow to him he feels it's time to step up and take responsibility of his life. Can Mikey prove to others there's more to his character than what social media portrays?
I adored Pippa and her family they were all different in personality and provided much chaos to the humdrum of the Browning household. My heart ached for the tragedy of life they've endured and the underlying ethos of this storyline was so heart-warming and filled with hope. The author, Lucy Mitchell, has packed this heartfelt story with so much warmth with scenes that make you chuckle that bring lightness to a story that has experienced so much sadness. I honestly didn't want this story to end and could continue reading about the journeys that Pippa and Mikey take alongside their family and friends who had great stories to tell. I'm looking forward to what lies next for Lucy Mitchell, an author to watch.

This is a heartwarming family story with families coming to terms with the loss of a loved one. Dan Browning had cancer and knew he was losing the battle to live so wrote notebooks with instructions for each of his three children, his wife and his best friend. Reading those messages from him are both poignant and inspirational.

His instructions to his wife, Pippa, are to encourage her to fall in love again - and he even suggests who she should fall for! Naturally she's convinced he's wrong, especially because of the reputation the gentleman concerned has as a love 'em and leave 'em ladies man. However, she's unaware that he also left a notebook to his friend - with instructions guiding him to help make Pippa fall in love with him! Is Dan right? Will they fall in love with each other? You'll just have to read it to discover for yourself.

There's plenty of drama around with three boisterous young children around, especially as one is a rebellious sixteen year old! Can Pippa follow Dan's instructions and make the changes to herself and their lives?

When life changes for Mikey, he has several dramatic events which make him re-evaluate his life, his attitudes and his priorities. He doesn't believe he's good enough for Pippa but has loved her from afar for years. Could following Dan's instructions help him woo her - or will other obstacles from his past relationships get in the way?

This story is filled with fun, drama and love. It is a heartwarming story about families, supportive friends, fresh starts and finding love again. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and have no hesitation in highly recommending it!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying doing so.

Lucy's Mitchell's debut is written straight from the heart – and it shows.
I was only on page two when her story had me welling up. I had no doubt from that point on that reading Instructions For Falling In Love Again was going to be a treat.
It didn't disappoint.
It is funny, emotional, heart-warming and a proper page-turner. I really struggled to put it down.
Pippa is so easy to relate to and like and, even though Mikey is 'a bit of a one', as my mum would say, I could see what Dan was thinking right from the start.
The story is aided by a wonderful supporting cast – and I'm not just saying that because one key character is called Tara. Near the end I was thinking, I hope we find out Mel and Emma's stories next.
Although you hope you know what's going to happen in the end, there are many twists and turns in this lively tale which keep things interesting.
I know from reading Lucy's popular blog, Blonde Write More, that her journey to publication hasn't been easy. I think she deserves a round of applause for getting up again after taking the knock-backs, pushing forward and, most of all, believing in herself and her writing talent. It has paid off; she's not only a published author (and a successful one at that) but an inspiration to the rest of us.

Instructions for Falling in Love by Lucy Mitchell a five-star read you won’t be able to stop falling for. This was so well don’t when I realised that it was a debut novel, I couldn’t believe it, there was just a talent and polish that you don’t see in debuts. I can not wait for the next read by this author, I picked this up as I saw an article in the local paper about a great local author so gave it a go and I am so glad I did. This had me laughing and crying and grabbing for a bottle at regular intervals. When someone asks me for a recommendation this will be top of my list as it will appeal to so many people, there really is something for everyone in it. It could be seen as depressing as Dan is essentially leaving his family and his loss is tragic but its also dealt with in a caring and compassionate manner, Dan becomes a main character even though he isn’t there, his notebooks show you the man he was. Pippa made me chuckle with her self-deprecating humour, she knows what she wants and its not what she currently has. Her reaction to the two new men in her life is honest and real, lets face it if we had come across a hairy ballerina in the local most of us would run in the opposite direction. This has the bones for being a great story and one everyone needs to read.

Oh, my bruised little heart! What a gorgeous read packed with emotion, warmth and spot-on observations on bereavement, dating woes and the importance of friendships.
Pippa is a widowed mother of three, still reeling from the death of her beloved husband, Dan, and struggling to get her head round his instruction manual for falling in love again. Particularly when it mentions a certain Mikey who seems the least likely candidate on the planet for filling the gaping hole in her life.
I adored Pippa's two best friends, Emma and Mel, and their own slapdash approach to dating with often disastrous consequences. But — as all good friends should — they provide solid support when needed and prove that fairy cakes can be the answer to almost everything.
Some memorable lines:
Dan is like an open wound inside me, which I regularly pick at with my mind.
Jason is a bigger tart than me and often makes important life decisions based on sensations coming from his boxer shorts.
My head is a major no-go area. It should be surrounded by orange cones and cordoned off with blue police tape.
Pippa's three children are also depicted beautifully and the whole thing comes together in a natural and satisfying way. I hope the author has a new book coming soon…

This is a wonderful read!! @lucy_mitchell_author has produced a well written and fun plot, with characters that are likeable and realistic. The book has moments to make you feel emotional, but also moments to make you laugh out loud. I can’t imagine a person you love, leaving instructions to help you fall in love again after they have died. Lucy has created a superb dynamic of characters- strong friendships, lively children and a number of online dates. Only one character infuriated me and that was Sophie- what an unpleasant human!
I have absolutely loved reading this book. I wish I could rate this one higher than five stars because it definitely deserves more. I can’t wait to read more by Lucy Mitchell.

I've been a fan of Lucy's blog for some time, and eagerly awaiting the publication of this book. I was not disappointed! Had other commitments - not to mention, the need for sleep - not prevented it, I could have easily devoured this book in one sitting! The story had me hooked from the start, and the characters were well-rounded and fascinating people I was glad to get to hang out with for a while. Add to that the author's fantastic writing, and you have exactly what this is: a truely fantastic read, complete with all the feels you'd expect to find in this kind of book. In other words, a fantastic debut novel, which has me already eagerly anticipating the next book from this author.

I am reading this stunning debut as part of the blog tour and I can't wait to see what comes next from Lucy Mitchell as I loved this book.

A combination of funny, chaotic and poignant, I loved the story and how it was written. I laughed during this book, empathised with the chaos of kids and yet it was tinged with sadness as you got to see how this family were dealing with their grief whilst Mum tried to hold it all together.

A highly recommended read that I thoroughly enjoyed and I look forward to her future releases, definitely a new author to watch out for.

It was wonderful

This book was awesome. I connected with the story immediately and was crying and sniffling by page 8, wishing my husband was more like Dan by page 12 and in love with Pippa's character by the end of the first chapter. I became a champion of Mikey the second his pink tutu showed up at her house and my devotion hasn't wavered since. My attention was grabbed and I was locked in the whole time. I laughed and cried and wanted to strangle folks. Like a good relationship if you don't have strong feelings about it, it's not worth the time. Lucy writes so well that you won't be sorry you took the time to read this. I would be interested in reading more in another book about Pippa's BFFs. Please consider it author!

What a find! I loved this book and I will definitely be keeping a look out for Lucy's next book. In fact, I'm wondering if there's going to be a sequel to Instructions for Falling in Love Again. Whilst the ending was satisfying, there's definitely scope for more. The story held my attention throughout, and whilst you kind of knew what was going to happen between Pippa and Mikey, it was quite a journey getting there. I loved all the characters, although I think Mikey was my favourite. What was also a nice touch was to have Pippa's dead husband as a sort of character through the notebooks he left behind. This story was romantic, yet realistic; funny at times, poignant at others. Take a chance on this Indie Author - you won't regret it.

A beautiful concept and totally likeable characters

I really enjoyed delving into this story and the idea that a lost husband could leave instructions on falling in love to his grief-stricken wife. The story moves along swiftly and Pippa finds herself in many relatable situations concerning grief, parenting, love and friendship. I particularly enjoyed hearing the voice of the husband who'd passed away provide inspiration and encouragement for his most loved and treasured people left behind. It showed beautifully how it was still possible for them to move on with his legacy firmly wrapped around their hearts. A fab debut novel.

Instructions for falling in Love Again
💞 BOOK REVIEW 💞
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

I am always full of praise but this book truly deserves it. It melted me 💔

Pippa tragically loses her husband Dan, and is left caring for her 3 terrorsome children. Dan gives her a red notebook, with instructions on how to fall in love again, but more importantly with who.

It follows Pippa, and her wonderful friends and family, in her quest to go against the advice of Dan, and follow her head instead of her heart. And mickey? The man Dan wants her to love, well if she doesn't want him I will 😉

I fell in love with Pippa, and Mickey. I could feel Mickey's arms wrapped around Pippa as if it were me. He gave me butterflies and I felt myself smile the whole way through.
The characters were so relatable, so warm, and the story just flowed beautifully. As if you were living it yourself.

Instructions for falling in love again, was the perfect mix of love, and tragedy, likened to PS I love you and Tiana from The Princess and the Frog.

I found Lucy Mitchell on here, and bought her book on a whim from @amazon
And I seriously suggest you do too!
It will melt you 🥰

Pippa's life is a bit of a mess. More like she's not living in the wake of her husband's death. Two years gone by and she's still in a fog of sorrow until circumstances force her to rethink the trajectory of her choices. One of those involves finally reading the little red notebook full of instructions her late husband left behind. Not just any instructions, but the how-tos of falling in love again! And for falling in love with one someone in particular...the worst possible choice as far as anyone can tell. Anyone other than his mother, that is, but even she has her doubts at times. haha

There's so much humor and heart in this book. I flew through the pages and longed for more.

I recommend this book to adult readers who enjoy rom-coms.

I have been a huge fan of Lucy Mitchell's blog Blonde Write More for some time. Her writing is deliciously funny and has so much heart - she is a master of pathos - so I was excited for this book and it didn't disappoint.

This is a story of love and loss and letting yourself feel again in the maelstrom of life - all told with that incredibly sensitive Mitchell wit. What surprised me was the dual point of view, and I think that worked brilliantly to tell this story.

The characters are believable, relatable, and their predicaments heartbreaking - yet I found myself laughing aloud many times.

This is a must read.
