For one magical night, Merry and Bright had everything they’d hungered for. Until the sun rose…
My goodness! Things are finally starting to settle down at the North Pole. All the presents have been delivered and the Elvin community is looking forward to a well-earned vacation in January.
Bartlett Bright, the new supervisor at SW/NP has just survived his first Christmas, with a little help from his new friends, and he’s ecstatic. He is also basking in the loving arms of his favorite elf, Merry Mistletoe. How much better can life get?
Too bad their romance is a recipe for disaster. Apparently, he’s been asking the wrong questions! In reality, things can get worse, much worse.
Merry knows she foolishly rushed into something. What possessed her to fall under the charm of a human? She’s already had one disastrous marriage; in fact, she’s still waiting for Santa to sign her divorce papers! Passion! That’s what did it! She’s been so lonely that she was prime pickings for a sexy human whispering wicked little things in her ear and inflaming her desires.
She had to stop it now, no matter how badly it hurt. Her heart must be protected at all costs, for it could never survive another break, maybe more shattering than the first.
This novella contains scenes of mild, consensual, power exchange. If this offends you, please do not purchase this story.
Best-Selling author, Stevie MacFarlane, has been writing in her spare time for more than twenty years. It wasn’t until 2012 that she decided to submit some of her work for publication. Since then she has been nominated for several awards and has frequently hit Amazon’s list of Most Popular Erotic Authors. While most of her stories are on the sweet side, she never fails to add just enough kink and humor to keep her loyal fans clamoring for more. Her alter ego also writes Daddy Dom novels under the pen name of Markie Morelli. Stevie lives in rural upstate New York with her husband. She loves hearing from readers and you can write to her at steviemacfarlane@aol.com
The story is a continuation of the first Merry and Bright—and what happens when Christmas is over. Bartlett Bright and Merry Mistletoe have a glorious night together—but what happens with Merry the next morning?
It was fun being back at the North Pole, and the new angst between Bartlett and Merry. He gave her a night to remember, but doubts started creeping in. After all, she had trusted Bernard, and look how that all turned out. Even with Bartlett being so different than Bernard, she doesn’t know whether she can trust her own judgment.
It is time to get everything back in order at the workshops, and that includes Merry helping out other elves. She will even try and help Bartlett with his office. Will Santa grant Merry her divorce from her cheating husband? Will she stop him from going after another young elf? What will happen with Ginger Snap?
The story has plenty of interactions, innuendos, and power exchanges. I loved the names and phrases used within the story!
Bartlett: Christmas Cookies! Merry: With Frosting. Bartlett, I’m truly sorry I hurt us. Bartlett: I know you are, baby. Just don’t do it again, all right? I need you, and I love you more than you know. No matter what comes our way, we’ll get through it together.
This is really shaping up to be a fun Christmas annual. Picking up from last year’s Book 1, Merry and Bartlett have survived the crazy build-up to Christmas Eve only to wake up to the equally busy clean-up time and pressure packed preparation for inventory taking. Everything has to be completed by New Year’s Eve before the official North Pole holidays can begin. But there is trouble in Tinsel Town, for Merry and Bartlett and for some of the other elves as well. The pressure of their relationship is getting to Merry and she tries to bail out but Bartlett is having none of it. For the other elves the trouble is with Bernard, Merry’s ex. Personal confrontations lead to the unique and somewhat surprising resolutions. With characters named Merry Mistletoe, Bartlett Bright, Bernard Breadhouse, Ginger Snap, Candy Cane, Patty Peppermint and Jimmy Jingle you just know the story will be filled with humor and innuendo, and it certainly is. It’s also filled with romance, spankings and sex. I’m already looking forward to next year’s Book 3, and maybe even some in-year offshoots that the author has hinted at. I received an advance copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This is the second book in the series and is just as delightful as book one. Merry is such a mischievous elf but despite having a caring side to her she still manages to drive Bright to the edge. This results in some steamy sessions for them. A fun story but also covers the problems of marriage breakup where Merry eventually shows compassion to her fellow elf who is involved with her ex-husband. An enjoyable story full of lightheartedness and I hope there’s more to come.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
“I just opened my eyes to what’s going on around me,”
Mr. Bright challenged Merry Mistletoe to think about her breakup and pending divorce from a different perspective in the previous story, and she’s starting to view not just her ex in a new light.
This story has a fair amount of holiday cheer, mixed in with annual inventory at the North Pole, elf mischief and courtship, and some all too relatable moments dealing with the tenderness of hearts, and how they heal.
I read Merry & Bright book 2 in Kobo Plus and chose to share my thoughts.
While you could read this book as a standalone, I would strongly recommend reading book 1 first, since this takes place immediately following the events in book 1. I didn't overly enjoy book 1 or the characters but I knew that this book would be short enough for me to get through. Thankfully, I enjoyed this book much more. While I'm still iffy about the characters, at least this time I can understand and empathise with their reasoning. All in all, this is an interesting take on Santa's Workshop and kept me entertained for a couple of hours.
You might not have read the first book in this series (hopefully) but you will want to after reading this one. Merry is a very naughty elf and leads poor Bartlett on a not so merry dance. This is a great fun read, lovely for an afternoon escape. It's well written and described with rounded characters. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I recommend it. This is a story that will have you giggling and sighing.
The day after story. This is the rest of Merry and Bartlett's story. I enjoyed reading this novella. Merry is having day after regrets and Bartlett works to show her that he is different than her ex Bernard. I loved all the innuendos and, of course, the power exchange. I'm glad they get their HEA.
I received an advance copy of this novella and this my honest review.
Merry & Bright by Stevie MacFarlane will definitely put you in the Christmas spirit. It is book 2 of Merry and Barlett's wonderful story. Make sure you have your hot chocolate in hand because you won't stop reading until the very end. You will want more from the North Pole. A very merry Kudos!
The follow up story of Merry and Bartlett show what happens the day after. Merry knows Barlett is her future and this scares her to death. She's already made a huge error in judgement with her soon to be ex-husband. I loved not just the relationship part of the story, but also Merry's growth in her own life. I like their HEA.
