I'm not sure why, but this volume didn't feel quite as exciting as the previous two volumes?

There was lots of banter between Nunnally and Rockmann, which is one of my favorite parts of this series, but for some reason, I just didn't feel as engaged as a whole which is weird since we saw so much of him. I'm unsure if my disconnection (for lack of a better word) is because things are wrapping up with the case of finding out what happened to a client's missing husband or just something else altogether.

I loved how we saw plenty of old faces which WAS exciting and very much enjoyed her reuniting with her friends! I really appreciate when manga does that and can say that was probably another favorite part of this volume!

While I felt on the fence about continuing the series, the note at the end made me want to continue. I definitely don't DISLIKE this series because I'm still very much rooting for Nunnally and seeing her become the woman she has been aspiring to be, but I hope it's a little more gripping next volume!

Volume 3: (Chapters 9-12 + Secret Chat, Open-and-Shut Matter, Fair Maiden Weather)

Starting to like the story less and less. The bickering fighting is still going on between the two and that would be fine but the ML is not redeeming in too many ways for me. He is still playing the nice guy routine with every woman, flirting with them, and not dissuading their feelings in any way - while (the story) is hitting he has feelings for the FL...but he is still really just plain rude to her at the same time.

And the FL? She gets kicked aside by the ML at every turn just to make her 2nd place in the most idiotic ways still. But I like her and the supporting cast of characters and want to see how the story is going to unfold either way!

The first volume was fast-paced, breezing through the school years with a focus on the 'rivalry' between the main characters.

It also flimsily showed some worldbuilding with a combination of soft and hard magic systems i.e. each magic user have an elemental affinity (fire magic user, ice magic user, thunder magic user etc) with varying degrees of strength and power. However, they could also use more general magic like moving objects, memory viewing, making copies etc.

The plot is actually getting pretty decent! There is something being teased every so often that I assume will become another large plotline at some point, and I'm honestly excited to see it. We get to see more of the Knights and see how they work together with the Haare employees. The interactions between the female and male leads are fun and interesting. This plot is moving pretty slowly compared to how it was at volume 1, but has managed to tease other elements enough to keep me interested.

This was a fun volume. Nunnaly is still more naive than her friends, and most of the jokes seemed to be on her expense, which wasn’t terribly nice. There wasn’t as much magic action as before, but there was plenty of Rockmann. Nunnaly is still learning the ropes of her job, and is a little envious of her friends who seem to be doing better. But she’s getting closer to achieving her dream.
