Zoe loves her job as a resort event coordinator for a dude ranch in the small town of Starlight Texas—especially around Christmas. The air practically shimmers with festive hope for families and lovers alike. But this Christmas, it's not just the visitors who will experience the holiday magic of the resort. Zoe is in for a ride all her own.
Daniel is desperate. His family surprised him with an unexpected visit to the resort where he works just for the holidays. Worst yet, they want to meet his girlfriend—someone who only exists as a means to keep his mother from meddling in his love life. Surprisingly, Zoe is willing to help keep up the charade.
All they have to do is convince his family that they are in love—something easier said than done.
As Zoe and Daniel spend time together, their fake relationship begins to feel increasingly real. What starts as a ruse to keep his family at bay becomes a dance of emotions neither ever expected.
Amid the holiday festivities and Christmas lights, will Zoe and Daniel turn their pretend romance into a happily ever after?
Daniel’s time was running out, he’d promised his mother two years ago that if hadn’t found a long term girlfriend by his 28th birthday, which is coming up in January , he would agree to a Matchmaker . That in part is why he’s at an impasse as he made up a relationship with his coworker Zoe. Which was ok if his family would just stay in Oklahoma. His brother Michael though has put a cog in his fantasy works as his parents along with the scheming Michael turn up to surprise the happy couple….Busted… right? Wrong Zoe goes along with this whole fake relationship,it’s gonna be fine , it’s only for a week… Great writing as always by Hope. It’s cosy , romantic, Christmasy and a feel-good immersive page-turner. I love the characters and they’re realistic , like an insight to real life events. A truly beautiful easy read. I read a free copy of the story and my review is voluntary and in my own words
This sweet, clean read is about Zoe, an event coordinator and cowboy, Daniel. They are co workers on a ranch resort and Daniel's family unexpectedly comes to visit him for the Christmas holidays. But he has made up a relationship and has told his family that Zoe is his girlfriend. Zoe has always had a crush on Daniel and she readily agrees to help him by pretending to be his girlfriend. But his brother is extremely perceptive and they really have to be convincing whilst in his family's company. The more they play out their fake relationship, the more they want it to be real. This heartwarming story was a lovely read with two characters who are uncertain of the other's feelings. It is a short, charming read.
Surprised by his family's unexpected arrival, Daniel has to reveal to Zoe that he has been using her as his fake girlfriend. Graciously, she agrees to go along with the secret. As she get to know Daniel and his family, she regrets the pretense she has taken on. I found the characters likable and the storyline actually realistic. Even the minor characters play their part. Daniel finally comes to see that his perceptions and pre-conceived ideas created most of the problems. This is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Really enjoyable story. Daniel springs “girlfriend” on Zoe when his family unexpectedly shows up. She agrees to the fake relationship, but things quickly become real. The characters are great and draw you right into their lives. This was a fairly quick read and I liked the story. I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Wow, Hope, you did a fantastic job on this book. I just love it. I got hooked right from the start, and all the way to the end. The storyline is interesting and heartfelt, along with remarkable characters. It is also a page turner.
Clean Fake to real standalone HEA interconnected series Lying to your family never works!!! Daniel has been telling his family about a girlfriend he didn't have. Thought it would work since he lived a ways away. Surprise, they showed up to meet her. Bigger problem, he based his story off a coworker. Zoe goes along with the plan. They quickly realize there's nothing fake about their feelings. But not each other's. Will they stick to the plan and "break up"? Did they fool his family? Do they end up together? Friendly advice to adult kids? A mom's lie detector never dies 😘 I received an ARC free from the author through Bookfunnel. Review voluntarily given.
