Pitching Up at Christmas!: A thoroughly entertaining read with a wonderful cast of charismatic characters in caravans. Captivating, and very, very funny.
Rave reviews and 5-star ratings for the PITCHING UP! PITCHING UP!, PITCHING UP AGAIN!, PITCHING UP IN STYLE! and PITCHING UP IN AMERICA! This is the fifth book in the series.
Due to a series of complicated circumstances (denial, personal hygiene, and pregnancy), the gang all gather together at The Woodsman pub for Christmas.
It’s snowing. A lot.
But it’s not all festive cheer and merriment. There’s a fire, a tractor, an ambulance, and an inordinate amount of snow shovelling involved.
And not one, not two, but THREE uninvited guests who turn up in a blizzard seeking sanctuary and mischief.
I have read all of the books in this series and have loved them all. I almost feel like I know the characters personally now! This is a total must read to get you into the Christmas spirit only I'm hoping your Christmas will be less chaotic than this one! Would 100% recommend this book to anyone who wants a laugh and a look into others peoples Christmases and maybe realise yours isn't so bad after all….
Given up on detective novels, thrillers? And now only read feel good fun. Deborah's sense of humour and occasion (these people can not keep there hands off each other) are a great giggle read.
Another great book in this series. The characters are wonderful, storylines make me laugh out loud. Perfect read to cheer you up. Love these books, keep them coming.
I would walk around with a gas mask on, as the stench would overcome everything. Talk about a greedy foul mouthed ex wife from hell. I wouldn’t have let her in at all.
I honestly did not expect to write a review with a very low 3 stars (rounded to 3 as i still love the series itself) for the pitching up series - i love this series, its funny, lighthearted and so easy to envisage. up to this point i have loved every book whole heartedly and found them pure brilliance to curl up with but this book felt a bit unnecessary for me truthfully. the series could've finished up on the America road trip book and it would've been perfect - this one didn't really do it for me.
I liked how all the characters are bought together outside of their usual time frame of the summer - but the way they were bought together was just not it i guess. yes richard is a douche and hilariously narcissistic, but mark and liv in this book really got on my nerves - liv in particular.
from the series liv has had the most character growth but she just got more irritating than ever in this book - she is such a people pleaser and loyal to a literal fault - trusting to the point of stupid. yes her loyalty moves the plot but it doesn't make me want to read her, Richard is a dick because he can get away with it and mark wanting to fight him constantly got old. if this series is to continue i sincerely hope liv stops being so trusting and loyal - her reaction to mark being unhappy about his EX WIFE also annoyed me. this woman doesn't seem to have foresight because she is so set on being 'lovely liv' that she fails to have common sense. its just annoying to read and ruined a sizeable chunk of this book for me.
still good just sad that liv got on my nerves so much that this book wasn't as enjoyable as it could be
