Sequels can be really hard books to write. They can often turn into slow plots that make the action feel like it's lagging for some of the less important subplots. This sequel did not feel this way. Just like the first book, it's an action-packed, quick read.

The author makes prime use of switching POVs to keep the readers engaged in what's happening both inside and outside of the ATLAS walls. Alix and Grace inside ATLAS have unique perspectives on what the organization is doing. The author does a good job of painting ATLAS as sickening in how little they accept weakness. That's attached to Alix specifically who struggles with dyslexia, so the reader comes to love her and hate ATLAS even more for what they end up doing to her.

Outside of ATLAS, we get to see Barin, Masia, and company take a journey to Colorado that goes sideways when they have to face the fact that ATLAS isn't the only bad guy in this world. The author does an excellent job of writing realistic characters this way. It's always interesting to explore this idea of how people react when they're thrown into an every-man-for-himself situation. Even the best people can turn wicked. Barin and his friends come to realize this first-hand. This keeps the world feeling very large and ups the stakes. Not only are they having to run from ATLAS, but they're also having to watch out for the rest of the world plunged into chaos. When the reader sees what's happening inside and outside of the ATLAS community, the stakes can almost feel overwhelming, but that makes us root for our heroes even more.

The book ends with a cliffhanger that should be illegal, but at the same time, the scene is beautiful. Two of the characters have fallen in love and the reader is reading their wedding. Once again, the author is aware that there is a life and world outside of a singular villain. People still fall in love, and the small scene is a nice reminder that there is hope, even if it's hard to see. It also sets the readers up to be hungry for book three. I know I am! I can't wait to see what these characters will do next!

Book two of L.M. White’s ATLAS series sees us picking up right where we left off in book 1 following Barin’s escape as ATLAS covers it all up to maintain the image of a picture-perfect society. Of course, nothing is as it seems, and ATLAS’s treachery knows no bounds in this action-packed and thrilling sequel.

This sequel is just as difficult to put down as the first book and introduces two new central POVs in such a way to keep the story engaging without sacrificing interest. The author is able to expertly keep the reader wanting to know more from the new core characters as the opening of the story neatly facilitates the transition from Barin and Masia to Alix and Grace. The characters all around feel more introspective, maintain a good balance between plot progression and internal struggles that make for really dynamic individuals you can’t help but root for.

A slight drawback to some of these POVs is that there were additional ones outside of the core four the reader is following the main storyline through. While it is clear that these additional POVs are meant to encapsulate the action more fully behind the scenes so that the reader can see what the main four do not see, it detracts from the interest level as it sometimes feels like a distraction that could be handled in the main POV line.

This book felt more fully set in the world of the dystopian genre as it has come to be known, and ATLAS truly feels like a force of evil that we want to see taken down as its corruption deepens and the stakes continue to rise. The dual setting between the Outside and the ATLAS complex keeps the reader informed of the development in both landscapes while keeping just enough secrecy and conflict to give each chapter a new set of twists and turns to not be boring.

The sense of anticipation and dread stays strong in this book just as it did in book 1, leaving you wanting more with each chapter. At times I found myself wanting to jump chapters just to get to the right POV to find out the ending to the preceding cliffhanger. The plot development and pacing were well executed and has me excited to see how this story and the characters will end in the next book!

This book was just as exciting as its predecessor, The ATLAS Project. I couldn't put either book down! I love that it began with the perspective of someone INSIDE the walls of ATLAS and continued to give us both perspectives, both inside and outside in the resistance.

ATLAS basically turned the United States upside down in the first book with the sudden blackouts that were listed as "terrorist attacks." These blackouts were only the first wave of a series of events that turns the United States into a dystopian setting; a place where food is scarce, electricity is a thing of the past, as are most comforts we enjoy today - unless you're within the walls of the ATLAS compounds.

Within the walls of ATLAS, the sky and weather are beautiful every day, citizens go about their daily lives working 9 to 5 or going to school - the only place with actual modern day comforts the world outside is now missing. I love that L.M. White chose to give us BOTH perspectives, inside and outside of ATLAS this time which really drives the story forward and lets the reader sink their teeth into both worlds as we discover ATLAS is not the only threat out there. I actually gave this book 5 out of 5 stars, where I gave the previous 4.5. Sequels are definitely hard to write - but L.M. White pulls it off effortlessly! She brings in new characters to keep us interested, while showing the changes the old characters have suffered through and overcome and the changes they're still going through. Though I really hate cliffhangers at the end of novels, I can't wait to see where this series goes!

Most Liked Character
Barin Johnson stands out as a highly admirable character. Barin’s journey from being a part of the ATLAS complex to actively resisting its oppressive regime showcases his growth and resilience. His compassion, especially towards Masia and his friends, highlights his selflessness and dedication. Barin’s struggle with guilt over Masia’s injury and his unwavering support for her even when he grapples with his trauma makes him a deeply relatable and heroic figure.
Most Hated Character
Paul Grey is portrayed in a highly negative light. His harsh treatment of his daughter Grace, strict adherence to ATLAS's oppressive rules, and willingness to impose severe punishments highlight his authoritarian and unsympathetic nature. Paul’s character represents the oppressive and controlling aspects of the ATLAS regime, making him a character that readers are likely to dislike strongly.
…………………..
I love the second book because:
1. Intensified Action: features more action and intensifies the resistance against the ATLAS regime. The stakes are higher, and the conflicts are more pronounced.
2. Expanded Themes: The moral and ethical questions introduced in the first book are explored more deeply. The consequences of authoritarian rule and the fight for freedom are examined in greater detail.
3. Character Evolution: Characters like Barin and Masia continue to evolve, and their relationships and personal struggles are further developed, providing a richer character experience.

This was a stunning sequel, and I even enjoyed it more than the first book. It eased a lot of my concerns with the first novel. Characters took central focus over plot development, which I enjoyed.

Something that gets glossed over in dystopian stories, is consequences. The main characters are treated as invincible, surviving the deadliest battles with minor injuries. Our main characters are not unscathed, they're carrying permanent scars and losses. They are forever changed by the events of the first book, and it's evident in the somber way they speak and perceive things.

I was excited to new characters, especially of a younger age group. It's usually easier to just paint each side in absolutes: good and bad. Following only the perspectives of those on the outside or those inside. But we have a good balance of both, both are trying to survive. Both are guided by world as they see it. These are very complex and mature themes that apply to real-world events.

Barin, is still undoubtedly my favourite. His development and maturity...becoming braver and more decisive are a continuation of his unfailing character and integrity. He's a refreshing male-lead, whose strengths lie in his empathy and compassion, a moral code. He is someone to aspire to.

I'm so excited to see where the rest of the series goes. The stakes are climbing higher and higher, and everyone has lost something or someone. I'm more invested than ever.

I loved the first book, but the sequel fell a little short of that initial adventure. Barin and Masia's plot did not develop as much as I would have liked, and I felt like a lot of chapters dragged on as they made their way through the forest. The pacing was slow and often repetitive. Masia was one of my favourite characters in the first novel, yet I felt like here her character hinged on her injury and on being in a relationship with Barin. I also expected to hear more about her parents, who both brutally died in the first book, but aside from the memorial, there was no mention. Alix and Grace's stories had better pacing, but I felt like there was a lot of overlap. I'm not sure if there was a way to combine these characters, since their experiences were so similar. I really liked the addition of Stephen, and I wish we got more chapters focusing on him and the turmoil he experienced by knowing he had a hand in the downfall of humanity. I like the idea of Alix succumbing to ATLAS and turning into a cold-blooded killer, but it didn't feel entirely realistic. Maybe she should have joined the army earlier in the book, and we could have seen her mentality slowly shift. It happened rather quickly, and I don't think she had the sort of personality that would be vulnerable to those teachings. The book did end on a cliffhanger so I do think there's hope for the next part of the story, but this book felt like a bit of a filler to me.

This book picks up where the first one ended, and maintains the same quick pace and action that I so thoroughly enjoyed in the first book. We see the treachery of ATLAS grow deeper and in addition to the two beloved characters Masia and Barin, we are given the perspectives of two others: Alix and Grace. The new additions to the cast of main characters makes for a pretty engaging story and is useful in expanding the world of the series; While Alix and Grace provide us with insight into the cutthroat and seeming perfect world of ATLAS, Masia and Barin give us perspective on what has been happening to the world outside, and as it would seem, ATLAS is not the only evil they must fight against.
I must admit that I was more attached to masia and barin's story, given that I quite liked them in the first book, and also the fact that they are constantly encountering new trials while on the run. I also found the moments of tension in their budding romance rather endearing and light admit all the struggles and hard times they go through. Just as the last one, this book too ended on a high that has me eager to read the next.

My review of the sequel is quite similar to my review of the original book, with different details, of course. Overall, I think White wrote a very unique and engaging story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I appreciate her writing style and the lovability and realness of her characters. In general, she has good pacing, though there are definitely times in which the intense sections or the slow sections should be altered to make for a better over arching storyline. (I described this in detail in my review of her first novel, specifically regarding how she writes her climaxes.)

Probably my biggest issue with The ATLAS Sentinel was Masia and Barin, surprisingly. While their relationship and dialogue was my favorite in the previous novel, they fell quite flat in this one. It wasn’t disastrous, but it was definitely disappointing to not have the same kind of excitement surrounding those two characters. Though, I will say, I think the new characters introduced (Alix, Grace, Stephen, etc.) were written very nicely and I enjoyed the chance to follow their stories.

Getting to see inside of ATLAS from multiple perspectives was really what was needed for the sequel and White delivered. I don’t get hooked on series too easily, but she has absolutely left me wanting more. I can’t wait to see what she does next.

This next installment in L.M. White's The ATLAS Series didn't disappoint!

The main plotline for this series looks a lot stronger in this book, and some of the questions that I had in the last book were answered in this one. The whole concept behind this book is still scary, but somehow, even though I could kind of see where it was going, the author managed to keep the tension and build up more of the more terrible consequences of ATLAS's take over.

I enjoyed most of the character development, and I feel that even the new characters came into their own across this one book. One gripe that I have is how quickly at least one of the more strong-willed characters lets go of their confidence and stubbornness. It really didn't seem believable, but I guess we'll see what happens. I will also say that the romance felt a little too much like the focus for me, but it was still written in a way that I could see being realistic, and so much more happened that it didn't dominate the whole story.

The settings were fantastically described, as always, and the worldbuilding also filled in some of the holes of the first book.

The dialogue was just as good if not better than in the last book, as well!

All in all, The ATLAS Sentinel was a strong follow up to The ATLAS Project, and I hope the next one is even better.

It was as if l.m.white had read my mind. I wanted to know more about Dr.Ling while reading the first book. And this book starts with the Ling family. The story is well-paced as it picks up right where it left off in the first book.

The characters are unique and likable. We get introduced to two new families in the second book - the Ling family and the Grey Family. Masia and Barin's fight against Atlas continues. I loved the relationship development between the characters, especially Masia and Barin. I loved how L.M. White portrayed that love comes in all forms, with different couples such as Masia and Barin, Kristy and Red, and Eleanor and Charles. I liked Alix and Grace's friendship. I loved Grace's bonding with her brother Stephen. I wanted to see Charity Grey rise against her husband, Paul Grey, and stand up for herself. I was happy with Soraya's reunion with family. I liked how James got a second chance to redeem himself. We got to know more about Atlas and their motives.

I would rate this book a 4/5. I would recommend it to everyone who loves dystopian novels with a touch of Adventure and Mystery. I can't wait to read what happens next.

One of the few books where the second book is as interesting as its prequel. The book effortlessly picks up from where the first book ended. It moves quickly and is filled with action packed scenes, making the book a very quick read. We as readers are now fully immersed into the dystopian world where, Barin and Masia, both shine as survivors. Although I love them as characters, I really liked that the author introduced new voices into the story, giving us different perspectives of the world through these new characters. I think this definitely helped bring more life into the plot and characters alike. The external motivations of the world and the internal motivations of the characters, make the book both character and plot driven giving the reader a significant amount of information and keeps us invested while reading the book. The author does an excellent job with exposition where she gives us enough information to understand what is happening but also not overwhelming the reader with too much information. Overall, great characters, great plot and great stakes and the cliffhanger is just icing on the cake. I believe the payoff is going to be great in the next book.

In the second book in the series we follow the lives of Brain who escaped Atlas, his mother Kirsty, Masia his girlfriend, red, soraya, Jodie, Hayden, Elizabeth her baby an elderly couple Charles and Eleanor and a few others as they make their way to Colorado. They meet some people on the way and not all of them are nice. After experiencing a rough patch in their journey, they acquire a few new members to their group who are now free. The journey may be hard and long but the new members and supplies are a big help. At first I felt like the Alix, Grace and Stephen parts were too much, then I realized they were a vital part of the story. I did not like that it ended on a cliffhanger. I'm so happy the silenced were not shown in this story because I find them disturbing in a sad way because I can't believe someone did that to them. This book had an amazing plot and pace. The characters were developed perfectly; they had great depth and personality. For a second book in a series it was loaded with twists and turns on every page and action packed. One of my new favorite book series. I can't wait to read the next book. Xoxo Laura8759

In my review of the first book, I noted that it was heavily plot driven, with characters that were rich but ultimately crafted to fulfill the plot requirements of the story. By my estimation, this sequel does an excellent job of remedying this weakness: this book feels incredibly character driven to me. I especially love Alix, a new character introduced. Her story is so cool, with a certain "unexpected yet inevitable" quality to her character growth. Grace, the other new main character for this book, also does an excellent job of providing us insight into the continued lives of those inside the ATLAS complex and continuing to heighten the stakes and urgency of the overarching plot of the series. Masia and Barin were also fantastic; I really liked the inner conflicts that follow them from the consequences of the first book. The angst of Barin not wanting to admit to Masia that he loved her felt a little bit drawn out, but not *horribly* so. I'm excited to see what will happen in the next book!

I read this immediately after the first book in the series and it picked off right where the first one ended. Currently swooning over Masia and Barin's relationship progression. While I love the action and mystery in this book, I have to say the heart of the book is Masia and Barin's relationship development. I cannot help but root for them in every way possible. They remind me of Katniss and Peeta in a way and I love it, I know others will too!

The pace of this book picked up when compared to the first book. I was more captivated and glued to this book as opposed to the first one because of how much more the story developed in this installment. The new characters were introduced very slowly, but it felt forced at points. I wanted to focus more on Masia and Barin. I did, however, love the horror aspects revealed in this book as I am a sucker for psychological thrillers. Given that this book has romance, dystopian, and thriller all woven together makes it so much more enjoyable for me.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the second book going into it, however, I ended up enjoying it more than the first book.

The addition of the characters that were growing up in the ATLAS society was very interesting. I almost enjoyed the chapters in the POV of Grace and Alix more than Maisa and Barin because of the additional details of society. We get a deeper look at how strict ATLAS is on their civilians and see how twisted the society is in more depth than in the first book. Being able to read from the POV of internal ATLAS characters, in a side-by-side time frame of Maisa and Barin on the outside, really helped develop the plot and add intensity to the storyline. I love how the outside characters and the inside ATLAS characters were connected at the end of the story and the character development for Alix.

There were points of the story that felt a little predictable, which is one of the only reasons I do not give this book 5 stars. I also wanted more about Masia and her family.

Overall, I thought this was a great book and I can’t wait to read the third one.

As the sequel, this novel did not disappoint. Instead, The ATLAS Sentinel lived up to the first book. Our favorite characters continue their journey, and we meet new characters along the way. As the plot thickens, the characters face new outside obstacles and challenges, as well as inner struggles.
With the addition of Alix and Grace, we get an inside look at the ATLAS compound. Alix and Grace give a fresh, younger take on the story as two young girls in middle school who face challenges to the seemingly perfect dystopian life.

Outside the ATLAS compound, Masia and Barin continue their journey through the wastelands of the newly apocalyptic world. Friendships and relationships grow as the characters continue to discover who they are as they fend for their lives.

The author does a great job of switching the perspective from different main characters. The flow of the story is fast-paced and thrilling, as new mysteries and obstacles appear around every corner.

This was a disappointing second book for me. Nothing was really happening in Barin and Masia's point-of-views. The whole slave trade part took way too long and seemed like a pointless addition to the book. The most interesting parts were from Grace and Alix's point-of-views--two new characters in this series. I guess I was expecting the characters to be forming a resistance together to try to take ATLAS down. Instead, it felt like the characters had just accepted their fate and had a "maybe-one-day-we-can-take-ATLAS-down" attitude that didn't have much fight behind it.

I really enjoyed Alix's point-of-view, until she to accepted her fate and dedicated her life to a horrible man who she knew from firsthand experience made children deemed not good enough fight for their lives as Sentinels. I felt like not much happened in this second book, and I was really hoping for more planning and fighting against ATLAS. Hopefully the third book, if there is one, has more action in it.

I really enjoyed this followup to the Atlas Project, even more than the first one. I especially loved the new narrators, Alix and Grace, although I did miss getting Masia's POV. It can be tough to introduce new characters in a sequel, when the audience is already attached to the characters from the original, but Sentinel does a great job of weaving them into the narrative, and I was just as invested in their character arcs as I was in Barin and Masia's. It's fascinating to learn more about what happens inside the world of ATLAS, especially from the point of view of the younger citizens who have no reason to suspect anything is wrong with the community they live in at the beginning. The story is engaging and quick-paced, and very easy to breeze through without ever getting bored. While I found the first one to be somewhat predictable (but still enjoyable), this one had a few turns that I did not see coming at all. I'm very interested to see where the series goes next.

Book two of the ATLAS Project picks up with an action-packed and quality sequel. I found the story incredibly moving, particularly everything between Barin and Masia. Their beautiful love, camaraderie, teamwork, and guilt––all of it was heart-wrenching. Overall, the story features incredible action and adventure, even more enthralling than the first book. I loved the new characters and what they brought to the world. There is so much tension and excitement on every page, I was never bored or disappointed for a second. L.M. White continues to write characters that are easy to root for, and a world that feels so palpably high-stakes. I often found myself strategizing and tensing up alongside the characters. I would recommend this series to any dystopian fan, as it honestly gets better and better. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope for another book in the series

I very much enjoyed "The ATLAS Sentinel"! We got to know better the characters we already met in the first book, and were introduced to some new ones! Once again, having different POVs was nice and it added some more depth to the plot. It was interesting to see more of the ATLAS complex and the events that took place there. I liked the way Barin and Masia's relationship developed, as well as some of the others (Kristy and Red's for example). The pacing was good and the worldbuilding went on strong. There were some new mysteries that kept me guessing the whole time. I found myself at the edge on my seat, wanting to know where the next chapter was going to lead the characters. With the book ending on a crossroad, I cannot wait to see what is going to happen next! I hope the next part of the story is at least as engaging and entertaining as this one.

'The ATLAS Sentinel' continues Barin and Masia's journey through the Outside after Barin's escape from Atlas. With this sequel, new characters are introduced and put into the spotlight as Grace and Alix navigate their early teens while living in Atlas. These new perspectives give readers a broad view of the effects of Atlas, both within the complex and in the Outside. Classism, secrecy, and perseverance are prominent themes in the sequel, much like the first book. L.M. White created a sequel that flowed well with the first book, with comparable pacing, character development, and a great balance of action and world building. The twists and reveals throughout the second book leaves the reader intrigued and the cliffhanger at the end was well-executed and is a great way to end the second book and start the third. An intriguing, exciting read!

The ATLAS Sentinel is definitely a sequel worth reading. If there is something I truly love about sequels it is the added complexities we get for the world-building. L.M White successfully added new fleshed-out characters and POV's. I enjoyed seeing through new eyes and the progression of the dystopic state. I did miss getting more attention from Masia and Barin but I enjoyed seeing new stories unfold from new characters such as Grace and Alix.
Again this novel is fast-paced and keeps on moving. The complexity of the continued story leaves more questions than answers and, just like Book 1, I was left wanting to know more and to see where White might end up taking us in the next installment. Overall the sequel is just as enthralling as the first through continued character development, plot twists, and continued and more deeply developed themes.

A slow start brings a phenomenal read and ending that leaves you wanting for more.

I had a great time reading the sequel to The Atlas Project. It did take me a moment to get into it. It was just very anticlimactic compared to the rest of the book as we were waiting for Barin and Masaie to heal. The extra POVs from new characters Alix and Grace added a wonderful perspective to life inside Atlas.

The sequel brought more action as the survivors are trying to find a new home and face other survivors while trying to outrun Atlas. It got that energy that I was missing in the first novel. It was perfect. Everything was very realistic for their emotions and actions and it isn't hard to imagine this in the future.

I absolutely can not wait to read book 3 as that cliffhanger is gonna be on my mind for a while.

I found myself enjoying book two much more than the first one! The author did a wonderful job introducing a new set of characters while still fostering the characters from book one. I was so engaged in learning what was happening inside ATLAS with Alix and Grace. This book really shows off the horrors of ATLAS and what they do at this organization.

Book two is just as action-packed while also leading you to a beautiful story. I loved Barin and Masia even more as they were thrown into deeper waters. They are now having to run from ATLAS while also watching out for the craziness that is this new world. You can clearly see the improvement in writing and plot in this book! There is tension, romance, heartache, and more throughout book two that made me not want to put it down.

The sequel in this series picks right up where book 1 left off and it made me want to keep reading more and more after every page. I personally enjoyed it more than the first book. The character development is very strong in this sequel and we see the characters we fell in love with grow in the sequel.
The author also introduces new voices into the POV switch and sometimes I wished there were not any as it feel like their POV can be incorporated into the main POVs. However, the author wrote the new POVs effortlessly and it really blended into the writing.
I still recommend this series to first time dystopian readers as it's guaranteed to make you want more and keep you engaged throughout.

The second instalment continues the journey from the first book. In addition to Barin and Masia’s storyline, new character POVs are introduced that allow a reader to see the narrative from a different perspective.

Personally, I did not enjoy the sequel as much as the first book. Barin and Masia’s plot seemed to drag, as it lacked the action and tension that I was expecting. As I continued reading, I became more invested in Grace and Alix’s storyline. While I enjoy the addition of Stephen as a character, I found the twist where Alix becomes a soldier for ATLAS unrealistic. Alix’s mannerisms and behaviour throughout the book do not align with the notion of her becoming a killer.

The book ends on a cliffhanger, so I hope the third book will be more interesting to me.

Book 2 picks up right where we left off from the first book. Here, we see a clearer view of ATLAS' villainous role in the story and the world falling into their hands. We are also introduced to some new characters as well and it adds more mystery to the plot. As a sucker for romance, I loved Barin and Masia's relationship developing. Their scenes never fail to make me smile. The worldbuilding was great and the pacing was phenomenal, we slowly get introduced to any new characters and have enough background information on them for their first chapter to know who they are and their relation to our main characters. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next!

This sequel had a lot of momentum. It was action filled alongside a lot of romance. The story is driven by both plot and character.
I loved the two new additional POVs of the characters from ATLAS. They gave a perspective different from the protagonists from the first book.

The author is also really good at world building. They did a wonderful job in describing the destructed post ATLAS world.

Even though it has a role in the second half of the plot, I expected the virus strain to have more of a storyline in this book. I guess we will see it in the next installment.
Can't wait for the next book!

An excellent and thrilling addition to the series! The author really nailed the sense of anticipation in this book, I could hardly put it down. I think that this was a great sequel and I enjoyed it even more than book 1. The character's voices were so distinct and all of them felt so real, however there were times where I felt the POV switched a bit too often. Aside from that, I really liked all of the character dynamics (especially Masia and Barin!) and I found this to be a truly engaging novel. There are many aspects of this book that would make me recommend it to others. I am excited for the next book in the series!

An exciting sequel that improved and expanded upon the first entry! Because the timeline has progressed, this felt like more of an immersion into the dystopian/apocalyptic nature of the story. I do feel that some parts, especially early, dragged on just a bit; but the payoff redeemed those moments. I also personally don't care as much for some of the romance aspects, particularly some of the dialogue that I thought was cheesy. However the romance certainly has its place for character and relationship development. I loved the action sequences and watching the characters deal with predicaments, those scenes were well written. Overall a solid sequel and I'm excited to see where we go next!
