It’s been almost a year since I read this for the first time and it still got me really emotional 🥹
The story really plays with identity in such a thoughtful way. Like, who are we now versus who we were then? Do we fall in love with the person we used to be, or the person standing in front of us now? And can we even separate those things when the memories start blending together? It’s gentle, emotional and definitely had me fully invested in their bond, both the past and present versions of them.
Now, I will say the spicy scenes felt a little rushed and kind of out of place tone-wise. It didn’t ruin the story for me, but I did wish they’d let that emotional connection simmer just a bit longer before diving into all that. Still, the way the plot weaved the past and present so beautifully and the way both of them searched and found each other again? Yeah. That hit. Definitely one of those reads that sits with you after.
oh, that was surprisingly sweet !! could have been more developed with some angst regarding the past life- present life situation and that would have wrecked me. but still very much enjoyable !
This was an unexpected gem of a story! The two MC's were in love in the past, when one was a royal and the other a lowly peasant. When their affair was discovered, the Prince was barren from leaving the castle while the peasant was arrested and put to death. Years later, in the modern world, the Prince is an adult and we learn how he regained his memories during a childhood sickness, at the same time a boy he'd never known fell sick and regained memories of being his servant, from his past life. Together, they spend years searching for his lost love, to right the wrongs of the past.
The plot was smart, sweet and thoughtful. It explored the who and how of who everyone was, both in the past and present, and it also gave us a great insight into the relationship between the two MC's in both the past and present, so that we understood how deep their feelings were.
I loved the ending. Although I felt the sex was too much, not needed, and way too quick, it didn't dampen my enjoyment of the emotional journey both MC's made. I loved that the question was explored as to whether they should love the past self or the present self more, and if there was really any way to separate the two when one person held memories of both lives.
The artwork was gorgeous and the story backed it up. Beautiful.
Okay, that one's a reincarnation story that doesn't work for me. I was starting to skim more by the end, because the characters' decisions were getting annoying. Plus, the art is weirdly ugly. I don't understand the massively bug-eyed look, particularly for Mika/Kou. It pushed so far into caricature at some points that it made it difficult to take dramatic or romantic scenes seriously.
The story structure is that in the past, Crown Prince Luke met a commoner named Mika who'd started work as mail delivery to the palace. He'd gotten lost in the gardens, and when Luke found him there, they began a friendship, then a romantic relationship. Mika knew they had a significant status gap, since Luke was clearly a nobleman, but as far as I can tell, at no point did Luke ever tell him that he was the prince. I'm not sure modern day Kou has even realized that?
The scenes from their past were kind of cute and could've been a nice storyline if they were developed more. But we get some choppy transitions into Luke making a nobleman angry by planning to raise taxes for the wealthy instead of the commoners, and this nobleman happens to see Mika wandering around, and then Luke's butler tells Luke he (the butler) knows about Mika, then suddenly the butler is locking Luke in his bedroom while Mika is hauled off to the guillotine for being a spy.
Yes it's as choppy and illogical as it all sounds. Then we find out later that despite Luke banging on the door begging his butler to let him out so he can rescue Mika, he never bothered to go out the windows or French doors in his ground floor room.
So yeah, he let Mika die. "For the good of the people," somehow? I don't think the leader of a country stepping in to stop a wrongful execution would've led to a revolt from all his noblemen, particularly if the thing they were angry about - the raised taxes - was still entirely on the table and being implemented.
All that makes Mika's death pointlessly stupid, instead of some big unavoidable tragedy that led to their reuniting in a future life.
Hiroto (Luke) and Mika (Kou) getting to know each other in the present day, with Mika initially not having any of his past memories, was sweet in parts. But again, there just really wasn't any depth to their relationship or their story. The resolution was rushed. In general, there didn't seem to be a whole lot of thought put into this story.
And again! The art! Why would you consistently draw eyes like that. It's like some unsettling uncanny valley meshing of modern manga with old yaoi proportions. Not the biggest fan.
I thought this was a really sweet 'one-shot' manga. The romantic arc was very swift so perhaps a bit unusual in that respect and I thought the way that the love interest 'Kou' was illustrated in a slightly bizarre childish way that doesn't fully align with the cover. Still, I thought the consensual and reciprocated affection in this manga was heart-warming and the author did a pretty neat job of providing enough exposition in this manga for there to be stakes and an emotional tie from the reader to the plot but I wouldn't say this was revolutionary, just sweet. I wish I could rate it higher because it had some really adorable sections but I wouldn't really say that this was a 'really like' scenario. I just got that high from watching two people fall in love that I'm vulnerable to from time to time.
This has two timelines. It's about reincarnation and it follows Hiroto, a law student in the present, but in his last life he was a prince. Ever since he got his memories back from his previous life he has been looking for his lover from the past who was sentenced to death after wrongfully being accused of being a spy. He obviously finds him, but Kou has no memories of his past life so now Hiroto plans to start from the beginning and make him fall in love with him again.
This was fine. I really don't have much of an opinion on it. It was sweet and I'm happy for the author that they were able to write something they love. It just didn't work for me. I don't even have anything to point out. I just don't think it was my kind of story.
This is an interesting take on a reincarnation story where there are multiple characters who are reincarnated. Hiroto and Kou make sense given the relationship between Prince Luke and Mika, but we also have Brian who is an odd addition to the mix. Hiroto isn't mistaken when he points out that Brian is acting more and more like his past self at times; he tends to slip a lot when it comes to names as well. It is curious that Brian and Hiroto regain their memories at the same time, but it takes meeting Hiroto and being together for awhile before Kou starts to remember, and he only remembers flashes at first until the fever hits him as well. Fortunately, it seems Hiroto's fears are unfounded and these two really do get a chance at their own happily ever after.

Hiroto has spent his life carrying the memories of a past where he was Prince Luke, deeply in love with a commoner, Mika, only to lose him horrifically.
In his present life, he finally finds Mika’s reincarnation, Kou, but there’s just one problem, Kou remembers nothing of their past love.
Hiroto deeply yearns for Kou while struggling with whether to tell him the truth.
Reincarnation gay romance Fated lovers Second chance College N/A setting Emotional pining HFN/HEA
Unfortunately, the romance develops at lightning speed, so that emotional punch was missing. Still, an interesting take on the reincarnation trope.
the plot was rushed and it didn't have real buildup between the main couple it felt forced if anything. They had a past and it's expected for them to relive their past feelings in hopes of reuniting their love and keep holding onto each other, but it was processing way too quickly and i was left disappointed. i do love the reincarnation trope and it's something i want to see more of and expanded on.
This one has a seemingly interesting premise with characters reborn into modern times searching for each other after recovering their past life memories. However, it was not pulled off well. It felt weak, more like someone sprinkled glitter on a story when they could have used gold. Overall, pretty cute and I liked the characters.
I'm a huge fan of reincarnation romances and was very excited for this one. I found it very sweet but also a little disappointing. I expected a lot of angst and longing, and while we did get some beautiful moments, it was pretty rushed. It really needed to be at least two volumes. Nevertheless, it was still soft and gentle, and I also really loved the art.
This was nice. It was sweet and the focus on that split between them pre and post reincarnation and how that could change their relationship was a nice focus and added some much-needed angst to balance out the fluffiness. The art isn't to my liking. It's too puppy-like if that makes sense. Idk. Look at the cover. You see the eyes. You know what I mean.
This was really, really cute. I love the clothing they picked and the 2000s manga style this had going on. I just don't like reincarnation stories like that. This was rather romantic, a lot better than some other manga I read when it comes to that. Still, there wasn't really something special about this.
This should've been a slam dunk for me, but unfortunately it was underwhelming. ^_^; I felt like the uke was barely a character and the reincarnation plot was underbaked. Things also resolved waaaay too quickly & cleanly. And I didn't really see the point (?) of the seme's butler also reincarnating with them if he wasn't going to be included in the couple, haha.
While I love the premise of soulmates reincarnating and finding each other in every life, the pacing of this threw me for a loop. Would've needed this to be longer, the progression between the MCs to be slower and the resolution to be a little more introspective of their inner lives to be satisfied with the read.
I’m always game for a reincarnation story and one where they gain their past memories is bonus. It was sweet and spicy but the overall depth of the story was pretty shallow. Enjoyable but nothing outstanding
Art and story were very reminiscent of older Yaoi manga, complete with the large hands and pointy chins! But it was cute (and spicy!). I just wish there was a little more buildup of plot and better fluency of the story.
I liked it. They're cute. The reincarnation and search for him was cute. No major conflicts, which is great. Just straightforward, "I found you!...I'm worried you'll reject me because I was sort of responsible for your death in your past life!...We're together again!" Cute.
I really liked this bl. It was super cute. I actually wish it was a bit longer. The romance happened pretty quickly but because it was a one shot, that’s probably why. Anyways I really enjoyed this !
We love a good fated mates story. This reincarnated fated mates story played out even better than I hoped it would. Another thing that we get, is clear and enthusiastic consent! I love it so much!
If I could give 1000 stars I would. I LOVE this type of story and I especially love it when it covers royalty. I’m going to need to find more books by this author.
