Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.
Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO-ナルト-), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.

Mini Summary The story follows Sasuke and Sakura on their first mission together as a married couple. They travel to a remote research facility to investigate a mysterious illness connected to Naruto. What starts as a covert mission turns into something much bigger, involving hidden secrets, ancient creatures, and a deeper look into their bond as partners both in battle and in marriage.
I have loved the Naruto series since I was very young and I’ve continued to follow it over the years. Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno have always been two of my favourite characters, and I always wanted them to end up together. Seeing them as endgame at the conclusion of the series made me so happy, especially considering all the ups and downs they went through. I honestly do not care about the hate or criticism they receive. Their journeys, growth, and character development throughout the series speak for themselves.
This manga is an extension of the light novel of the same name, which I have not read yet but definitely plan to. I love that even years after the main story ended, we still get to follow these characters through short stories like this. I have missed them a lot, and this felt like such a comforting return to their world.
What I really enjoyed is how the manga highlights their relationship. It shows how much they have grown, not just individually but together as a couple after everything they have been through. Their bond feels strong, mature, and genuine. This story also helps answer a lot of the questions fans tend to have about their relationship. For me, it reinforces the idea that they were always meant for each other.
I also liked how we get to explore more of the world outside the usual shinobi villages. It adds a sense of freshness to the story. And I have to say, the discovery of dinosaurs completely took me out in the best way. The fact that they refer to them as dragons in their world made it even more entertaining and unexpected.
The emotional moments between Sasuke and Sakura were definitely the highlight for me. Their dynamic feels softer but still true to who they are. You can really see the trust, care, and understanding they have built over time.
This was such an enjoyable read and a meaningful continuation of characters I have loved for years. It felt nostalgic while also giving something new, and I am really glad we get stories like this that let us spend more time with them.
The 2nd and final volume for Sasuke Retsuden Manga really tied the story in a beautiful bow. We can see how both Sasuke and Sakura cared not only about each other, but also about Naruto, and most specially Sarada- thinking about her when they were in the beautiful lake sharing a special moment. We get to see another side of Sasuke and how he really have a soft spot for this family. Much like the Sasuke we know before the massacre, it was so refreshing to see the real him with the most special people he cherishes. As Kishimoto-sensei said, Sasuke is pure. Not bad, nor good, just pure. And this story really did his character justice, not to mention special feats fr his wife and how they worked together as a team.
Throughout volume 1 and volume 2, it has some great moments. But it just starts to get sluggish with the pacing. You are going to need to be a hardcore fan of Naruto, plus be super invested with the Sakura and Sasuke ship. Then maybe it will feel like a 4 stars out of 5 for you.
I can think of better interludes between the Naruto/Boruto universe. Like the "Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring."
Such an epic end. There are fucking dinosaurs y’all! Dinosaurs!! Lmfaooo. I can’t believe they really resurrected dinosaurs in a world of shinobi. It’s not really about the dinosaurs though. It is about Sasuke and Sakura’s marriage and their love for one another. And you know, I think that really comes through here. The man really fucking loves her. So suck it, haters.
