Building a Non-Anxious Life Professionally spiraled and resold by a third party. This spiraled book is not necessarily affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by the publisher, distributor, or author.
As someone who frequently struggles with anxiety and the overwhelming weight of life, people and the world in general, I'm always searching for information and advise on to manage it.
I also listen regularly to Dr. John Delony's podcast - his honest, no-nonsense approach to mental health and life challenges has resonated strongly with me, so I decided to grab a copy of this book. I am glad I did.
That's exactly what it felt like - warm, relatable and direct, like he is sitting across from you, walking you through the process of building a calmer, more intentional life.
Delony redefines Anxiety not as the enemy but as an alarm - your body's way of trying to protect you and get your attention. He argues that anxiety isn't the problem. The real issue is that we're unsafe, disconnected, unhealthy, and living like we have no control over what happens next.
Instead of medical/scientif jargon, you are offered six daily choices to help build a non-anxious existence:
1️⃣ Choose Reality (bravely assess your life and face it as is); 2️⃣ Choose Connection (ditch loneliness and invest in meaninful relationships); 3️⃣ Choose Freedom (free yourself from debt, chaos and clutter and make time for what time for what truly matyers); 4️⃣Choose Mindfulness (teach your brain to be aware and to experience everything in a curious, present way); 5️⃣Choose Healthy Healing (take care of your body and work through past trauma); 6️⃣Choose Belief (let go of the illusion of control and anchor yourself in something bigger than yourself - faith, fate, the universe, or any other personal belief).
Each section includes practical exercises and reflection questions to help you understand where you stand and what steps you can take next.
I really enjoyed (and took a lot of notes) this uplifting, judgement-free book on anxiety. 💗🧠🤗
lots of good wisdom. audio book was read by author, Dr. John, which I liked. The resources offered were a nice addition to the audio book. I would have preferred having the physical book. Recap at the end of every chapter, which I liked..
a true favourite, one book i recommend to all! I especially love the audio book for this aswell, its narrated by John himself and you can really feel the emotion behind what he's speaking about in the book, he also has great podcasts! im glad I found him in my rock bottom!
