The Younglings series: Shadows & Magic Fire & Magic Mayhem & Magic Storms, Starlight & Magic
🌟The perfect conclusion to a nail-biter of a series🌟 🌟This is a series that will stimulate your imagination whilst worming its way into your heart🌟 🌟If you're a Twilight or City of Bones fan, this is for you🌟
I’ve been a voracious reader ever since I was a little girl wandering the library aisles, letting my imagination run wild in fantastical worlds. These days, I’m still a devoted bibliophile, forever enchanted by the escapism of swoon-worthy romances and faraway realms. I believe books hold infinite possibilities—and mine are no exception. In my NA series, expect magic, sharp banter, morally grey heartthrobs, fierce and witty heroines, and more than a little passion. My YA urban fantasy has magic, danger, and super-hot supernaturals.
I live in rural West Yorkshire, England, with two ridiculously gorgeous pups, two perpetually cynical cats who very much run the household, a chicken with attitude… and a husband. When I’m not writing, I’m either devouring fantasy novels (the more romance, the better), laughing with friends, or rambling through the countryside with my dogs.
I'm mainly on Instagram, where I'm ready to talk fictional crushes and nerd out over books. (Okay, okay. And I've also been known to share snippets and teasers from my upcoming novels, if you're into that sort of thing...) Please feel free to chat with me there @craggshm. I love talking with fellow authors and readers.
The fourth instalment of the Younglings “Storms, Starlight & Magic” by Helena M. Craggs wraps up the story beautifully. It is also a mind-blowing rollercoaster of events that doesn’t let you take a breath between turning the pages.
Quinn Carter might be a half-demon, and he might fight supernatural threats all around the world to keep us humans safe and happily oblivious. He might see and experience things most – almost all –people never get to see and experience. He is a soldier of sorts, and he kills evil creatures without hesitation – even if without a particular pleasure too. Still, Quinn is young, and some things that may seem insignificant against the backdrop of his life full of action and peril can hurt him deeper than a magic fireball – which, by the way, probably will make him only stronger since fire is his father’s domain.
Quinn’s life is good. Not without its drawbacks and worries – apart from the constant imminent danger of getting slain by some monster from the Underworld – but he has nothing to complain about. His gorgeous half-angel girlfriend adores him – and when you are twenty, who cares that your love doesn’t care about jumping into the marital bliss right away (well, a teeny-weeny spoiler, Quinn does, but…) – his family supports him, his friends are with him, and he is about to graduate from college. Enough to send the prayers of gratitude to Heavens. So, when his imperfectly perfect world starts to crumble, Quinn is not as prepared to deal with the consequences as he would’ve been ready to fight a vampire coven, or a demigod, or whoever else might spring right out of hell.
Used to dealing with paranormal threats of high calibre – think Greek gods sort of calibre – Quinn might not be prepared to fight the battle where the risk is not only physical. Will Quinn overcome the most profound emotional pain? Or will it shatter his soul and his whole being?
Peppered with sizzling hot romantic scenes – including between the characters from whom the series readers wouldn’t expect any chemistry whatsoever – the final book of The Younglings will not let your eyelids droop, no matter how long you’ll stay awake not to stop reading. Full of magic, adventure, the characters that cause mixed feelings but also make one want to find out more about them, “Storms, Starlight & Magic” is a grandiose finale of the Younglings series.
Well, that's it!! This is that super sad moment, where this whole series has come to an end - and I'm so sad to say goodbye - but what a spectacular ending it was!!
It was amazing to be back in the company of The Younglings, even though it was for the final time - it just felt as though I was returning to a group of friends, ready for our next adventure together.
I've said before, but will say it again, that I absolutely love how each of these books has been written in a way that means they could just about be read as a standalone - the characters are so relatable and there's just enough in the first few chapters to allow new readers to connect with the gang and follow the story (which does feel complete) - but I have to say that these are definitely far better read as a whole series as the overall plotline does span over all the books and the prolonged development of each of the characters and their friendships and relationships would be even more enjoyable!!
I won't be saying much else about the plotlines here as I hate giving spoilers - but the way that all the different threads of each character's journey are woven throughout and the way that they all come together and conclude in this book was just genius! Written to perfection so that we are left with no unanswered questions and although not always happy with the outcome (🤫🤫), are left satisfied with the conclusion to each thread.
As ever, the tension gradually builds throughout the book - starting with some little tasks for the gang to get to grips with, but as the story continues, we work towards the epic final battle which has been building through the whole series. I love the way Helena is still able to totally shock us throughout with so many curveballs and twists that totally mess with our emotions and have us doubting our favourite characters. I honestly felt every emotion going whilst reading this!
This was again a super fast-paced read, packed with adventure and action - you will totally devour this. Such a magical world with something for everyone - demons, angels, witches, shifters, paranormal and even mythological beings too!
I will definitely miss the gang - but love that Helena has left us with that little ray of hope - that there's so much scope for us to return at some point in the future and join our beloved Younglings as they venture into new pastures.
Either way - I adore Helena's writing so much that I just know that whatever is next for them as an author - I will be following, buying and reading with great excitement!!
It's been a huge pleasure - and I thank you for having me join you on this journey .....so far.....
I'm still in awe of Helena right now for the amazing goodie box she sent me to accompany my highly anticipated copy of the book.
It was like I'd never been away...I found it so easy to become reacquainted with Quinn, Eve and the rest of the Younglings...but so hard to leave them behind, forever.
Buffy always been up there as my favourite vampire series, but The Younglings series has definitely sent it toppling from it's throne. There are some brilliant nods to both BTVS and Twilight throughout the book.
Throughout the series there's been brilliant character development and the world building is exceptional.
Amazing series, wonderful author and I'm already excited for what comes next.
The super hot scooby gang is back in all of its quip-tastic glory. The story kicks off with a vampire wedding, a groom who needs to be turned, and a lurking stalker with the hots for Eve (and the hates for pretty much everyone else), and it moves right along from there. Full of Craggs’ trademark punchy dialogue and friends/lover drama, there’s also some new paranormal elements to look out for in this one in the way of werecats and yes, even some fae action. So if you haven’t started this series yet, I suggest you rectify that ASAP, cause these books are pure fun.
What a grand finale for this wonderful Young Adult series! This book is definitely Helena's best work and I absolutely loved it. The story follows a group of supernatural teens who act to solve supernatural crimes and take down criminals that ordinary people wouldn't believe existed.
Half demon Quinn and half angel Eve with their band of misfits go on multiple adventures and help save people from evil monsters while facing the vampire enemy, Rhys. This book gave me so many feels and I can't believe this series has come to an end. Quinn is a wonderful character, battling his inner demon while trying to remain the good person he is.
I love all of the side characters, Leo and Miguel, Jack and Nat, Millie and Harry, Eloise and Beth, I love them all! But my favorites will always be Mr. Atua and Lucas Morningstar! (I really need a smutty spinoff novella for Mr. Atua, please Helena 😭😍).
Again, I love that this series plays out like a TV show, as The Younglings fight against the main villain, they have to solve multiple cases in between that really keeps the story surprising and interesting! The main plot in this book was hectic! I didn't see any of it coming. There were some moments I was so close to tears. I love the characters relationships with each other and I love how much they have grown since the first book.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys young adult fantasy with a hint of solving mysteries! Thank you @craggshm for being the amazing person you are, I can't wait to hold my physical copies in my own hands😭😍
Omggggg! I can't believe this series is over, I'm not ready for the Younglings to leave my life! I am blown away with this YA fantasy series! This book has a brilliant storyline, I like the fact some new characters were introduced so there could be totally be spin off series. I loved Sofia, there could be more told about her backstory in a separate spin off.
I've always loved books that have multiple pov's and this doesn't disappoint! It's written in a way that if something happens, the next pov is a like a few minutes behind so you see from their pov what has happened as it happens. Makes you feel like you are really there! I love how descriptive the places they visit are, how you can picture the scene as you read on. It's so descriptive, funny at times, "craptacular" in others, suspenseful, exciting and full of adventure in others. I still have a soft spot for Eloise and Beth. The characters are all definitely loveable and this book and series will stay with me for a long time! I kept waking up thinking about parts in the books, wanting to carry on the story and I love how well the story was portrayed. It grips you early on and you want to consume it in one sitting but read slower to fully savour the magic of this series! I like also how the books follow on smoothly as if no time has passed.
This series is well worth a read and re-read over again!
I am on Helena's ARC/street team and received this for free in exchange for an honest review. I left this review voluntarily and it is my honest opinion.
Argh I can’t believe that this fantastic series has come to an end! This series is one of my absolute favourites. I’ve read them all and listened to the audiobooks of them too!
It was great to be back with Quinn, Eve and the rest of the Spook Crew. This final book was gripping, exciting, suspenseful and heartbreaking too. I cried more than once during this book.
Things were always going to come to a head at the end. Quite a few moments shocked me, I totally wasn’t expecting it. I’m not going to give anything away!!!
I love the authors writing style and this world she has created. There are demons, angels, vampires, werewolves and ghosts. Families and friendships. I absolutely love the relationship with Quinn and Eve it’s just beautiful. Quinn’s uncle Lucas is a fan character and the exchanges between him and Quinn were hilarious at times.
With this series I definitely recommend reading the first three books before this one so you have full understanding of all the characters and what is happening.
I still can’t get my head around the fact that this is the end. I’m hoping that maybe at some point in the future the author may return Quinn and Co for more adventures.
I also would like to thank Helena for the absolutely amazing goodie box I received with my copy of the book, it was out of this world. Thank you.
This is the last book in the youngling series and it doesn't disappoint. This is an absolutely brilliant YA fantasy series, and this book was a fantastic yet heartbreaking ending to the series. Continuing the journey of our favourite youngling crew as they face more supernatural beings, complete college, and continue to navigate their friendships and relationships. All the characters are brilliant with unique personalities and different supernatural powers, and you can't help but root for them all. The book is filled with action, keeping you drawn in until the very end. There are lots of ups and downs, and the story takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, so be prepared.
The story is very well written and makes you feel part of the crew. A beautiful world has been created that contains vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, and anything else you can think of. It's filled with families, friendships, love, grief, and so much more. This is a perfect story for young adults, bringing together normal teenage lives and their supernatural ones on the side. Even though it is aimed at young adults, this book and series is perfect for all ages to enjoy.
Pick up this series, dive in, and enjoy the world that has been created. You will find yourself lost amongst the younglings and enjoying their adventures with them. I'm really sad to see this series end, but I'm so glad to have been part of it.
Well what an emotional rollercoaster this one was!! The fourth and final Younglings book had a lot to live up to, I was very excited to find out how the teams journey would end but also sad to see its final conclusion. I have enjoyed following the spook squad on their adventures.
As usual Quinn and his team have lots of ghostly puzzles to solve, we meet even more supernatural beings and adventure is aplenty. Rhys is back with devilish intent and there is excitement and danger at every turn.
No spoilers here but beware the emotional turmoil you will find, I was happy, excited, angry and devastated in equal measure. The teams story comes to a good end, leaving us with closure for all of the characters.
If you are a fan of supernatural action, demons, vampires, ghosts, werewolves and witches then this is the series for you ♥️ and guess what? Today the first three books are FREE on Amazon so you can read them ahead of the publish date for this book which is January 15th 2024.
Thanks to @craggshm for providing me with an ARC copy of this book and allowing me to be a part of her incredible journey with this series. This is one author I will continue following and look forward to the next books she brings our way ♥️♥️♥️
It's the final book of the Younglings and with that comes a rollercoaster of ride. I experienced every emotion possible during this read.
Storms, Starlight & Magic is undoubtedly my favourite of the series. Helena really brought it in this novel. It's written perfectly with it's twists and action packed scenes and the scenes that I can't talk about are just....I can't say but consider this your warning. I loved the bigger plot with Eve, it was amazing. I love th gang but Sofia, I think she's just become my favourite character, I love her.
Everything in this novel will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and questioning everything. Grab the tissues guys because this is the end and Helena has definitely brought it!!!
If you enjoy Buffy, Percy Jackson, Vampires, Werewolfs...basically all creatures great and small be sure to pick up this novel (just make sure you read books 1-3 first as this is a series and not a standalone)
One thousand percent I recommend this novel. Helena thank you so much for everything!
Wahhhhh, I don't want it to be over!!! The finale in The Younglings series had to be a big one. There were so many little pieces that had been sewn in through the series that would need tied up and tied up they were, in a bow saying happy ever after. However, the team is so young, and new characters were introduced, so there's definitely scope to come back to the series later, should the author will it. The book, and series entirely, crosses some of my favourite teenage TV shows and books such as Buffy, Charmed, Twilight, and Percy Jackson, and I love that the author nods to this through the story. I shed tears more than once during this one, there were a couple of things I didn't think the author would do, so I was shocked and upset, but I understand the importance for the development of other characters, and the story in general. The real hero, Torrok, didn't get as much airtime as I'd have liked, maybe we could have a spin-off series for him if the author doesn't want to dive back into The Younglings world. There was plenty of the signature snark and wit that shines through this series, I will forever call bad situations "craptacular" because of the times it made me laugh here. Ultimately, I hold out hope that this group, in some format, will weave their way into future stories, because I love the characters, I love the development of them all, and I desperately want more. The Younglings - you've been a blast!
What a fantastic conclusion to the best urban paranormal fantasy series. I hate it’s over because every time I dive back into the world of the Spooky Crew it’s like being among friends. I’m going to miss them.
With the amazing world that’s been created, the beautiful array of characters and all the emotions you are going to feel, there is plenty to LOVE about SS&M, but something I love the most is the simmering tension and fear that builds throughout the book. We get little snapshots of the dangers that are coming The Younglings way (via Rhys’ chapters) and it’s like a secret the readers have but a secret we are dying to expose so we can prepare our friends. It’s perfect. 💜
I was also pleased so see the AWESOME Torrok is back however I wanted more. Maybe there can be a prequel with Torrok’s story?? lol who knows? All I know is I ADORE Torrok. 🥰
And I can’t finish this review without warning you. Make sure you have a box of tissues on standby as they’ll be needed. (Maybe have 2 boxes just in case! lol). Oh. My. Heart. Truly beautiful & bittersweet. Damn you, Helena! 😂 ♥️
This book has it all, witches, dhampirs, gods, goddesses, ghosts, demons and so much more. I cannot recommend this book & series enough!
Thank you, Helena, for taking me on this remarkable journey with characters I’ll remember and love forever more! 💖
And in case it wasn’t clear … The level of love I have for this series can be seen by the fact that, even though I have physical copies I also got the ebooks (& have preordered SS&M) and I also have the audiobooks, too! I just love having this series available in all formats so whatever my mood, The Younglings are there for me! ♥️
Storms, Starlight & Magic is out January 15th so plenty of time to read books 1 - 3 allowing you to delve straight into book 4 on the 15th!
This is the perfect conclusion to the Younglings series. I can't believe this series is over but it is soo good.
This book focuses on Eve and we have some new characters too, I couldn't put the book down. Helena has a way of writing that keeps you engrossed, the characters feel realistic and you will laugh, cry and scream at this book. but its worth the journey.
We have demons, vampire, were-creatures, other immortal beings, witches, you name it, this book has it. This final book in the series, it is a great send off for the characters. I will say that if you pick this book up, make sure you dont have any plans, as you will not be able to tear yourself away.
This book was an easy 5 stars and I cannot wait to see what Helena does next.
I can’t believe this is the final book! I’m going to miss the Younglings so much!!!
An absolutely heartbreaking but also perfect ending to the series, I loved reading every single part! (Even when I also wanted to throw the book across the room)
This book had so many twists and turns the characters really went on a wild ride for the final book! The ending was absolutely perfect.
I absolutely recommend this whole series, it’s an amazing story with fantastic characters that you will honestly love.
The Younglings: Storms, Starlight and Magic - Beta read @craggshm
I am utterly spent after this series! I can't believe that the Younglings series has come to an end! My heart is so heavy now but this book was the PERFECT conclusion to the series.
Another action packed, funny and a little bit spicier than past books, this book had so many more elements and different species and cultures than any of the first 3 I found (trying not to give too much away here!). I also think I enjoyed the bigger plot with Eve more than anything. It was done perfectly and so was the after part. And although I hated Sophia at first I grew to quite like her by the end. Though Helena had me screaming so many times and wondering if our demon and angel were going to make it. The whole book was perfect, funny and a little bit sexy this time! Be warned, the losses in this book will have you crying 😭. The descriptions of the places the Younglings visit are so breathtakingly sumptuous and delectable that you can feel yourself on holiday along with them!
I'm so excited for what Helena has to come next but super sad that the Younglings journeys are over.
The perfect conclusion to a nail bitter of a series
What can I say? This is a masterpiece of writing, a world full of mystery and magic. And a fantastic final chapter in this great series.
Follow Quinn and Eve on this final adventure. There are vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, and angels. This book has it all.
I would recommend that you read the first three books as you would understand this story better knowing what's gone on before and you wouldn't want to miss out on a lot of great adventures, would you?
I'm really sad to see the end of this series, and I do hope one day Helena M.Craggs revives this as I can see lots of adventures ahead. If you like action, romance, and a set of characters that you will fall in love with, then this is a book for you.
Cant believe all the twists and turns it was truly unbelievable what an amazing read even for a 73 year old woman like me. I loved it! I really thought Eve would give into temptation.
I can’t believe the series has come to an end! I have been lucky enough to receive the whole series gifted from Helena in exchange for reviews and I’ve loved them all.
Starting with the cover. I love the colour and design of it. All 4 books have a similar design but different colours and they just look great. I think this one is my favourite.
It was so good to be back with The Younglings again. Straight back in and right in to the thick of it! There were so many things going on. Little quests, big quests, huge quests and Quinn’s hustle of helping ghosts.
I enjoyed the first half but I loved the second half. It went up a notch and had such a good storyline for Eve and Quinn. I loved what happened involving Rhys and Sofia. It really changed things up and made for a good plot. I was surprised by some of what happened but not everything in life works out and we experience good and bad and I like that this had both.
I’m still obsessed Torrok. I’d love more from him. I love his devotion and those demons kick ass! Oh and I want me a demon king. Quinn’s dad 🔥. If I want the dad, am I showing my age? 😂
I don’t want to ruin the book so it’s hard to say exactly what I loved and what not so much but if you enjoy paranormal YA with literally every kind of paranormal being then this is the series for you. It is such an easy and enjoyable read.
I want to thank Helena again for the books and the awesome pr package that she sent me and the rest of the street team.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what Helena writes next!
Having read the other two books in The Younglings Series, I was very much looking forward to Storms, Starlight and Magic, and let me tell you, it certainly did not disappoint.
First of all, I have to say how sad I am to see this series come to an end. It's difficult to say goodbye to The Younglings, Quinn, Eve and the others, but as they say, "all good things must come to an end". And what an absolutely brilliant ending Storms, Starlight and Magic is.
Throughout the three books, Helena has done an amazing job with character development and depth. You'll find yourself becoming so familiar with the individuals through Helena's top notch story telling.
The world building is exceptional and like all good writers, Helen's descriptions of the world of The Younglings allows the reader to form detailed images in the mind of this special world.
Although all three books are quite clearly a series, for me, all three can pretty much be read as standalones, which I find to be great. I will say though, that the three books are far better being read as a series, after all, that was Helena's main aim.
Storms, Starlight and Magic is action packed and full of adventure. It's fast paced and easy to read and I flew through this in three sittings.
I look forward to more to come from this author.
Thanks so much Helena, it's been an absolute pleasure.
This is Book Four and the final one in 'The Younglings' series. You could read this as a standalone but I would highly recommend that you read all four books, because you won't be disappointed. Helen has done it again with this book, with plenty of mystery and magic. Throughout this story you will met vampires, demons, ghosts, witches and shape-shifting wolves. Its hard to believe that we are at the end of a great series that has taken us along all four books. I can say much without given things away, but I will say what an end, Helen has kept for us.
I love the Younglings series! It's always a great adventure to see what mischief they get in and out of and the new characters that come and go. My emotions were on a roller coaster with this book! I hope Author Craggs keeps this series going! I highly recommend this series!
When a series that you adore comes to an end and you know the book is the last in the series. It’s almost worse than the second book.
Hear me out, the first book is hooking you into a new world and introducing you to new friends. But second book is a tricky one as you have to stay in. Love with the characters. Yet, the last book is like a goodbye. Yet, it needs to stay in character of all the things you loved about the previous books.
I was not worried about the last instalment of The Younglings, I knew that Helena would make sure we still loved Quinn and gang. I’m most upset that it’s over. I love that everything has been completed in one way or another but I still don’t want it to be.
You know that you have a truly amazing author when you will go out and order it because you know anything about the next book. Helena created a mesmerising world that captured my heart and soul. And although that story is over. I’m excited to know where this author will take me next.
If you want an amazing series to read this year, I highly and wholeheartedly recommend The Younglings series as you will not forget these characters and their stories. They will live rent free in my mind long after the final page, with reminders from a song list.
What a series to end and begin a year with. The book hangover as always was worth it.
The Younglings series is a 5 star series and all the books live up to this. Gutted it’s over 😟
#theyounglingsstormsstarlightandmagic Is The Fourth And Currently (Wishful Thinking) Final Book In #theyounglings Series. This Is An Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance Series With A Beautiful Found Family Element That Is Perfect For Fans Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Crave, Hush Hush And Fallen To Name A Few. As This Is A Sequel & Final Book In A Series I Will Be Keeping This Review SPOILER FREE! 🥳
This Series For Me Is A Beautiful Blend Of Nostalgia & Addictive. It Truly Made Me Reminiscent Of My Teen Years Where I Would Constantly Rewatch My #buffythevampireslayer DVD Boxsets. Yes You Heard Me Right I Said DVDs I’m From That Era 🤣 Each Book In The Younglings Series Feels Like Each Of Those Discs That Contained Four Episodes On Each. As The Element I Love That Helena Has Woven Into This Series Is That Each Instalment Has Mini Arcs But There Is One Overarching Story That Our Protagonists Are Heading Toward! 🗡️
One Of My Favourite Elements & Topics That Are Discussed In Book Four Is About Morality And What Makes An Individual Bad Or Good. Can One Bad Action Or Moment Of Rage Make Someone Evil Or Beyond Forgiveness? Can Any Of Us Truly Be 100% Good And Virtuous? For Me As A Person This Is Something I Have Thought About A Lot Over The Years About People As A Whole & Upon Further Reflection Myself. I Believe As Humans With Free Will Mixed With Temptation Live With The Greyness Of The Morality Scale. We All Have The Potential To Do Acts Of Greater Good & Acts Of Malice Or Evil. What Truly Makes A Person In My Opinion Though Is Whether We Learn From These Moments To Grow Within Ourselves! 🤔
Wow just wow. Helena’s The Younglings series is fantastic but this last one is on another level. What a perfect ending to the series. It’s bittersweet because as amazing as it is, it’s the final book in the series and I’m just not ready for that. I 100% want more at some point - a prequel/ time jump etc. Storms, Starlight and Magic took me on an emotional rollercoaster. Helena is not afraid to pull punches when it comes to her characters and anyone is fair game so be warned. The Greek Gods being added into the mix really enriched the world that Helena has created. The Spook Crew really went through the wringer in this one but I feel like it really helped their characters to grow and progress. I’d like to reiterate in the hopes that Helena is paying attention and up for granting wishes (😂) that although this is the final book in the series that I am not ready for it to be over.
In the fourth and final instalment in The Younglings series Quinn and Co are back facing further threats in the form of Fae and a Greek Demigod who have infiltrated the mortal world. But these aren’t the only threat The Younglings will face. There is an ongoing threat that has The Younglings in their sights but in particular one person. Can The Younglings defeat the threat before it tears the team apart?
As a big fan of this series I couldn't wait to read the next book which also happens to be the final book. I didn't get the chance to reread the series before picking up this book but I did read the last few chapters of the previous book just to familiarise myself with what happened and where all the characters were.
This was a brilliant instalment and what I would describe as a finale book that packed a punch. The Younglings have dealt with a lot of supernatural forces but in this book they get more than they bargained for including the threat that was identified at the end of the third book. I loved the storyline and couldn't fault it in any way. It was engaging, fast-paced and I finished the book within 24 hours because I found it difficult to stop reading. I found myself completely absorbed in the story and transported to The Younglings world and I just wanted to know what would happen next. The story was intense at times and it really did have me on the edge of my seat because I didn't know what was going to happen next and I was worried about the fate of the characters. As well as dealing with new threats The Younglings are still helping spirits to pass over as well as dealing with Fae and a Demigod. But there is a bigger picture and bigger threat to The Younglings and if this threat succeeds in their plans to target one Youngling in particular it will fracture the group and break them.
All of the characters have grown significantly, but the biggest growth can be seen in Quinn’s character. In the first book Quinn is still grappling with who he is. In this book he is confident, has embraced his half demon side and he wants to ensure that supernatural beings don’t affect the human world. We also see more of Quinn’s demon side in this book. Quinn and Eve are completely and utterly in love and besotted with each other but someone doesn’t want them to be happy.
I can't praise this series enough because it's one that never runs out of steam. In every book The Younglings face a new challenge that is different to one they have faced before. This keeps the series fresh and engaging. For me as a reader each book was a new adventure. The storyline was sad in parts and when I finished reading the book I was a little bit teary because I knew it was time to say goodbye to a group of characters I have become attached to and who I have nicknamed The Spooky Scooby Gang. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy and to get the best out of the books I would recommend that they are read in order.
If you love all things fantasy then this is a series not to be missed.
‘The Younglings: Storms, Starlight & Magic’ is the brilliant conclusion to this amazing series and was jam-packed full of action, love and the supernatural. I am bereft that this series is over as I have enjoyed every minute of it and truly wish that there was more to come. Maybe it needs to transition to an adult series now the characters have all left college (hint hint). This is the fourth book of the series and normally I would say you can read any book as a standalone but I think this is one of those times when you really need to have read the whole series to fully appreciate the story. They are all cracking reads full of intrigue and danger but more importantly the characters and their relationships are beautiful to experience!
Quinn Carter has an amazing life. He might be a half-demon but he has a heart of gold and his love for his half-angel, Eve, is a romance for the ages! He is part of ‘The Younglings’ a group of young adults that are all supernatural in nature and they fight for the people they love and the world in general. But they soon face one of their biggest challenges when the vampire Rhys strikes right at the heart of them! In this outing, we see Quinn struggle with his nature and it actually made me realise that the majority of them are still teenagers and yet we expect them to deal with complex events and feelings with maturity. It was refreshing to see Quinn being a right numpty at times in this book!
This was a gripping and compelling read and it ranges from heartwarming to heart-wrenching and at times heart-stopping! I was hooked from the first book and I was hooked right up until the end. It's a very full and rich world which Helena has managed to build and instantly it felt fully formed and authentic. She has a full roster of supernatural beings and what I enjoy is the cohesion and acceptance of each other. It's not really something I have read before and it made for a varied cast - we have demons, angels, vampires, werewolves, witches, and now Greek gods!
Hopefully, the last sentence of the book means we might one day get more from this amazing world! Let me know if you pick this one up.
I have read, loved, and 5-star reviewed the first three books in brilliant author Helena M. Craggs’s “Younglings” series. Recently I received an advanced reader copy of her fourth book, “Storms, Starlight, and Magic.” Wow. That’s my first reaction to this epic tale so cleverly told. Craggs has knocked it out of the park for readers with this book. It is her best yet. Sensitive to spoilers, I’ll only share high-level comments. The plot is utterly original, clever, and immersive. It grabs you and never let’s go. It is full of triumph and tragedy—I soaked several tissues and stood to cheer more than once. The main characters in Craggs’s “Younglings” series are on board—Quinn, the narrator and half-demon, and Eve, the half-angel and the love of his life. They are joined by other main characters on the “Younglings” team: Leo, the half-vampire; Miguel the wolf-shifter; Mille, the witch; Beth, the inactive vampire; Harry, the genius mortal; Eloise, the ghost who can’t pass over; Jack the human who turns into a vampire to live in eternity with his vampire soulmate, Natasha. Bet you don’t have friends that interesting---I don’t. Several adults play an important role in this extraordinary book. There’s Edward Atua, Quinn’s father, a Demon King; Mrs. D, a demon who watches over Quinn and the Younglings, and surprise, Lucifer, who is Quinn’s uncle. Other surprise characters come onstage—several gods and goddesses straight out of Greek Mythology. Of course, there’s a major antagonist – Rhys, the vampire hunter who’s been after Eve and her angel blood since book 2. He represents heart-stopping peril for the lives and love of Quinn and Eve. I read this book in a flash and now await the release of the audio version, narrated by the mega-talented Andrew Bond who has brilliantly voiced all the books in the “Younglings” series. I highly recommend this book and series to both YA and adult readers of all genres. Confession: I was never a reader of Supernatural Fantasy until I was introduced to this engaging and magical series. It may have turned me, of all things.
The Younglings: Storms, Starlight and Magic is the fourth and final book in The Younglings series. I have so much love for this series and I’m gutted it’s the last book, but WHAT a finish!
In Storms, Starlight and Magic, half demon hottie Quinn Carter faces his greatest challenge yet. Pushed to his limit, Quinn must battle both a ruthless enemy and his own dark side in a bid to save his girlfriend Eve.
Along the way, Quinn and his friends are tasked with solving a series of supernatural issues from troublesome Greek Gods to a real Poirot style murder mystery dinner party. But not even the most craptastic situation can thwort the genius of the Younglings!
The characters in this series are exemplary. Quinn, Eve and their Scooby Gang of supernatural friends are a wonderful found family of loveable, realistic, diverse and relatable characters who navigate real life teen issues despite their unusual heritage.
I love Quinn and I’ve enjoyed watching him growing into the strong, brave and thoughtful character he is over the course of the series. He’s in touch with his emotions and wears his heart on his sleeve which I admire in an MMC. And his devotion to Eve melted my heart. He’s the type of hot, protective half demon boyfriend that I’d be delighted if my daughter brought home when she’s older! His #hotdemondaddy Mr Atua will live in my heart rent free forever!
This one is an emotional rollercoaster that had me laughing one minute and fighting tears the other. Is it wrong that I peeked at the last page at one point to avert an oncoming heart attack? I’ve not done that since Edward left Bella in New Moon …
The Younglings - Storms, Starlight and Magic is the ultimate YA fantasy series, action packed with drama, angst, intrigue, hot romance and great LBGTQ character representation and I can’t recommend it enough. I’m sad to say goodbye to the Younglings, and I really hope that we’ll see more of them in the future.
I absolutely loved this as a conclusion to such a thrilling series; although now I don't know what to do without these characters storylines. The conclusion summed up the ending we needed from everything concluding all the way from book one, answered all of the questions and gave us hope for each of the younglings futures. I liked the similarity from needing to rescue eachother again and the twists and problems that got in the way; this time it felt more urgent and like there was more to loose, with how dangerous and far everything went. There was alot of character development and new characters and potential plot lines. The start was depicted really well leading from the last book and there were alot of beautiful descriptions. It was nice seeing some of the relaxation after what they had all been through. This was more detailed and a bit darker than the rest of the series; especially dealing with their greif and thoughts, about themselves and losses. The new additions to their knowlege such as the Greek gods and the fae were an interesting touch and makes me want to know more about this world and I also liked how certain characters had more of a part to play this time. The inclusion of having Mr Atua and Lucas around more was interesting, they have great interactions with the younglings and showed their motives and development as characters instead of being in the background. There was alot of sadness in this as well as emotion from readers watching the mistakes and bad things happen to the characters, I am glad about how they were able to overcome their thoughts in the end and slowed down to appreciate eachother and their futures.
