Barbara Pinke is an award-winning children’s book author who believes every story deserves a sprinkle of adventure, a dash of heart, and maybe even a dancing fish or two.

Born and raised in Hungary, Barbara hopscotched her way across Europe—collecting memories, inspiration, and probably a few too many notebooks—before settling in Germany with her family (and her ever-growing tea stash).

By day, she works in HR (helping grown-ups), and by night, she writes books (helping little hearts grow big). She doesn’t drink coffee (though she loves the smell), but give her a cup of warm plum tea and a handful of pistachios, and she’s ready to take on any story.

Whether she’s writing about underwater adventures, superhero parents, or bugs that love to hug, Barbara’s mission is simple: to create stories that make kids smile and parents feel like rockstars.

Very interesting book. Mainly written (and illustrated) with children in mind – but fascinating for adults too. There is a named dinosaur for each letter of the alphabet, with its length, habitat, the geological age when it existed, a translation of its name, a fun fact, and a cartoon-like, colourful illustration (which may not be particularly accurate – but is amusing).
Most of the dinosaurs in the book I’d never heard of before – exceptions being T Rex, Brachiosaurus, Velocoraptor (Jurassic Park got them a bit wrong) and Iguanodon (don’t think they ate ice cream cones!).
Some of my favourites were:
Nothronychus – long curved finger claws like a sloth 5m long
Quaesitosaurus – name means ‘extraordinary lizard 12m long
And
Sinoceratops which moved around in herds Perhaps you might have thought to see ‘herds of Sinoceratops sweeping majestically’ past a Torquay hotel bedroom window.

At the end of the book is a time-line showing where each of the dinosaurs – and eventually humans – fit in. Also a page of extra items hidden in each picture, starting with the same letter as the dinosaur, then a maze so you can help T Rex find his Teddy.
An informative and fun book for anyone of any age interested in dinosaurs – with added alphabet fun for children.

If you want to learn lots of fun facts about dinosaurs, you might like this book. High level reading but might work for a
“read to me story” in a one on one situation where the listener can ask questions and the reader has time to explain the text.

A fun dinosaur twist on the alphabet book genre

When I think about an ABC book, I expect that it will be pretty basic, illustrations with a word to go with the letter of the alphabet. This book surprised me with a great combination of adorable illustrations AND dinosaur facts that could keep older kids (or adults) interested too! I also enjoyed that the end of the book had a seek-and-find to find the unrelated word that fit with the letter of the alphabet. For example, the iguanadon was eating an ice cream cone. It was a fun book with just the right amount of information and whimsy.

Fun dinosaur book for young kids, with beautiful illustrations! Each page features a letter of the alphabet, a dinosaur that starts with that letter, and some information about that dinosaur! I really adore the extra look-and-find activity at the end! I only wish there was the phonetic spelling of the dinosaur names, as I know my Dino lover always wanted to know how to pronounce the names correctly.

Great book about dinosaurs

What a nice book about dinosaurs that roamed the earth millions of years ago. I like the distinction between “Herbivore” and “carnivore,” and their origins. Nice illustrations too.

This was a cute little dinosaur book. Every page had a dinosaur and an item starting with a different letter of the alphabet. Some of the items blended seamlessly into the picture (star), while others were painfully obvious (Hungarian flag!).
