I'm a grumpy single dad. She's my ex-fiancée's best friend.
Hiring her wasn't a part of the plan. Neither was falling for her.
I'm an ex-country music star so finding a nanny for the summer won't be easy.
The last thing I need is an employee who sees me as more than her boss.
My daughter has my whole heart, and I don't have room for anyone else.
That's what I think, until I lay eyes on June.
Broken-hearted, sexy June is the reason I started singing in the first place.
She's also the reason I stopped.
The one who got away. My sunshine girl. Totally off-limits.
She needs a job while she gets back on her feet.
And when I see how she lights up my baby girls' life, I can't say no.
Now I'm the one who wants more.
Because having her under my roof is unbearable.
And going to bed with her in the room next to mine is impossible.
Each stolen summer night brings us closer to the day she'll leave this small town.
But now that I've touched her, I won't let her go.
F*ck the plan. I'm going to make June mine.

After 15 years of being the one who always has to compromise in their relationship , June discovered that her boyfriend is having an affair.
She starts her car and goes to her small hometown for the first time since she left more than a decade ago.

Cash is a former country singer super star , grumpy single dad who swore off love and music forever .. or at least that’s what he thought.

In desperate need of a nanny for his daughter, Cash offers the job to his high school crush and first love June and regrets it almost immediately. Turns out his crush on June is not over after all .

After escaping the clutches of a toxic relationship and wanting financial stability, June accepted the job as a live in nanny but finds it difficult not to let her eyes roam freely over Cash every time he is near .

I loved this book so much .
Very easy to read and captivating .
I loved that the parent in this book was actually responsible and the nanny was not there to make him a better parent because he is one of the best dads I’ve read in books .
Both of the main characters had so many repressed feelings , I couldn’t wait for them to finally let go ❤️. And when they did it was amazing 🔥🌶️🔥🌶️.
I loved it 😍 . I’m definitely going to reread this in the future ! ❤️

small town, single dad, AND he is a singer?!? yes.

4.5 stars!!

I absolutely love the single dad small town romance trope, and I ATE this book up!

Cash is in a predicament. Summer starts tomorrow, and his nanny just fell through. He has to find someone to watch his 11 year old daughter, Alex. He just never imagined it would be his first love, his old best friend and next door neighbor June.
June just moved back home. She caught her boyfriend cheating on her, and is wanting to just start over. Her first priority going to college to finally get her teaching degree she’s always wanted, but she needs money. So when Cash offers her a nanny job, she just can’t say no.
Things between Cash and June are complicated, and now that she’s working for him, they definitely shouldn’t cross any lines, but June has always been the one that got away for Cash. And he doesn’t want to miss out on the chance to finally make her his.

I really loved this read. The long term pining between Cash and June gave off “right person, wrong time” vibes. There was always something keeping them apart back then, and I loved how Cash refused to let anything keep them apart once they entered each others lives again.

I loved how Cash worked to support June in all things. He wanted her to have her dream, and even if it meant her leaving at the end of the summer, he wanted that for her. But I ADORED how he refused to let her leaving be the end of them. He was willing to do literally anything to have her, even if it meant having her from a distance while she went to college.

These are two people, in their 30’s, who are still trying to find their ultimate calling. The last 10ish years haven’t been kind to them, but in each other, they find a confidence to go after what they want.

If you are a fan of a single dad with a sassy daughter, a fmc who finds her voice to stand up to those around her, and two people who just are meant to be, add to your TBR!

🌶️🌶️🌶️

Meet June Jackson - a thirty three year old who finds her way back to her hometown of Heatstroke after breaking up with her privileged, selfish and cheating boyfriend. She is back to save up money and finally pursue her dream to become a teacher - the dream she now regretfully put on hold to ‘support’ her then boyfriend, or so she thought. With no job, no foreseeable future and a less than ideal support system from even her own mother, June is looking to leave as fast as she came once she gets back on her feet.

Meet Cash Taylor - a former country star and single dad living under the radar in Heatstroke with his 11 year old daughter. After the recent loss of his mother, Cash is just trying to keep his family together, parent his preteen daughter who is having trouble fitting in with the girls at school, and now his nanny for the past several years had an accident and he is in need of a new nanny immediately.

June and Cash were best friends growing up that is until Cash started dating June’s best friend which ultimately pushed them to go their separate ways… Fast forward 15 years later, the two of them run into each other again at the local diner. Since June is in need of a job and Cash is desperate to hire a nanny starting tomorrow, what could possibly go wrong?? The way June and Cash left things all those years ago is complicated and so are their feelings towards each other. June has always been the one that got away for Cash and he doesn’t want to miss this second chance to finally make her his. 💛🌻👏🏼

If you love a single dad MC who’s overprotectiveness is his love language, FMC who finally is standing up for what she wants, and a love that was meant to be, this one is for you!! Cheers to Bailey Heart on her debut novel, this was such a sweet (and spicy) read and I’m so excited to dive into the next book in the series about Marci and Jesse, Fake in Love! Do I see a Hannah and Savage story down the road?? 😉

After finding out that her fiancé had cheated on her (publicly at her birthday party).. June Jackson takes it upon herself to dump him and begin a new life.. in no other place than Heatstroke. The small town she left because her heart was broken by a man she loved tremendously. The one and only... Cash Taylor. The ex country music start that left her for her ex best friend.... or so she thought.

Once she arrives in Heatstroke, everyone welcomes her with open arms. She finds herself at a cafe with her old friend, Marci, until a young girl comes into the restaurant crying and she takes it upon herself to comfort the child until her parents show up.... which of course just happens to be her old flame... Cash Taylor.

Cash stopped playing music after his horrible heartbreak and after he took over sole provider for his daughter, Alex. His nanny just got injured right when Alex is out of school for the summer and he is needing to find a replacement quickly... just when he thinks it can't get any worse.. the woman he can't have shows up in town and he blurts out asking her if she would like to be his daughter's live in nanny.

Will these two rekindle their flame? Will Cash find his voice again? Or will June leave him and it all behind?

The tension is so high in this novel and omg I was swooning the entire time because Cash is just perfect in everyway.

Tropes:
-single dad X nanny
-second chance romance
-"it's always been you"
-possessive mmc

I binge read the three available books in this series and had the best time!

----------

June is back in her hometown after fifteen years.
Cash is a famous former country music singer. They were childhood best friends. She was best friend's with his ex-fiancée. She's the one who got away but now she's back and he needs a nanny for his teenage daughter.

I had such a good time with these three (including Alex, Cash's daughter). The pace in this second chance romance is perfect, it reads very quickly and if you're attached to the characters like I was, you won't want to put this down.

I adored Alex and June's relationship and also fell for the side characters so of course I ended up reading Fake in love right after this one!

This was a super solid easy romance read! It made me laugh, cry, and kick my feet out of sheer giddiness at the romance. If you enjoy a slow burn, grumpy single dad - this book is for you. Although it is a slow burn the spice is SPICY! I really enjoyed June’s desire to still be her own woman despite falling back in with the man she’s always wanted.

There are some darker undertones to this book - family loss, addiction, abusive relationships but they are handled well and do not deter from the overall giddy romance vibes.

A big thanks to the author for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review! ✨

This freaking book was so adorable and I loved every second of it. Also the cover of this book is stunning! June and Cash are just so adorable and I loved them so much! Cash and June were best friends growing up until he started dating June's friend and then both June and Cash went their separate ways. Now 15 years later June goes back to her hometown after leaving her ex and is trying to get her feet back under her when she runs into Cash and his daughter. Cash is now an ex-country star who is just trying to keep his family together, care for his daughter, and has sworn off women and commitment for about 12 years. June needs a job. Cash needs a nanny. What could go wrong?

I love how Cash puts his daughter, Alex, first in everything and just cares about her so much. Like this man will do anything for his daughter. We love a selfless dad. He is such a grump and is only soft when it comes to his daughter. I love June's connection she has with Alex. They just connect so quickly and you would think that they were always apart of each others lives. There are so many sweet (and spicy) parts to this book and I highly recommend everyone to read it.

I think the only thing that bothered me was that there really wasn't this big thing that really tested the couple. There were a couple of smaller things that happened that didn't really lead to any drama. If you like your books not to have a big third act break-up then you will love this. There is a very small "third act break-up" but it got fixed rather quickly.

What you get:
~Small town romance
~Single dad/Nanny
~Childhood best friends
~second chance romance
~Grumpy/Sunshine
~Country singer
~Forced proximity
~Found family

A beautifully written debut novel by Bailey Hart!

A small town romance wrapped up with some of my favourite tropes.

• Small town
• childhood friends
• nanny/boss
• close proximity
• slow burn/ angst
• spicy
• single dad
• second chance
• Protective possessive MMC
• Grumpy x sunshine

The slow burn between Cash and June was killing me in the beginning there was so much tension and angst.

“Seeing June Jackson for the first time in fifteen fucking years is like being struck by lightning. Every cell in my body is alive. I can breathe again.” “Every second I spend with you makes it difficult for me to breathe.”

There is banter with other characters which I enjoyed and my oh my the spice 🌶️ spices.

“Fuck,” he says. “You are so perfect, June. I want you to sit on my face.”“I want to wear you like a fucking crown. Come here.”

I loved seeing Cash and Junes relationship unfold and how protective her is of her and his daughter Alex, I also liked June and Alex’s relationship.

I cannot wait for the next instalment of the heatstroke hearts series, cannot recommend this small town second chance romance read enough

All thoughts and feelings are my own ✨❤️

“June is a constellation of temptations, and I feel like a stargazer.”
.
I am nothing if not consistent. I’m a simple gal. I see a small town, single dad romance and I devour it in one sitting. Simple as that! So when I saw this gorgeous cover and then noticed it was a SDR, I was sold! Bailey Hart’s debut novel was the perfect start to her new series. Packed full of the tropes you all know I love like secret pining, the one that got away, forced proximity... this was SO good.
.
Right off the bat, the storyline had me pulled in. There’s something about two people getting a second chance at getting things right and actually GETTING THEM RIGHT that makes me a sappy mess. The mmc, Cash, was well aware of just how badly he messed up the first time around and I loved watching him prove his worth to the fmc, June. Toss in Cash’ daughter, Alex, who was so adorable and the glue to their new little family and I was swooning the whole time. I laughed out loud more than once and the tension and chemistry between these two had me BLUSHING!
.
This is truly a fantastic debut novel and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
.

The debut book by Bailey Hart has all my favorite tropes, small town, childhood friends, childhood crush with a second chance, slow burn, single dad and nanny, and plenty of spice. The blurb drew me in, but the story held me.

June is headed home to Heatstroke, TX, love the name, after her worst birthday party. Many things are the same: Heartstopper diner, many are not, her childhood bedroom. At least Cash is not her next door neighbor anymore.

Cash Taylor, former country superstar, is now a single dad and glue trying to hold his family together. Now, he needs a nanny for his daughter. He has purchased his childhood home.

I love the relationship that June builds with Alex, and how Cash treats June as his nanny. There are a few surprises, and I am anxious to read more from Heatstroke, TX.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

“You’ve always been the reason. You’ve always been the one I want.”

This is Bailey Hart debut book and it was so good. This book had me at single dad, grumpy sunshine romance.

This story follows June and Cash who use to be best friends until things change when Cash started dating their friend which makes June move away. June is back in town after 15 years, what she wasn’t expecting was to see Cash let alone work as his nanny for his daughter, Alex. Cash is an ex-country music star, he’s also a single dad who’s sworn off of women but that all changes when June comes back to town, she was the one who got away. The more time they spend to, they start to form a friendship again, the only problem is cash wants more but June doesn’t want to get hurt again. But he is determined to fix everything between them and finally get the girl he’s always wanted but what happens when secrets come out, will history repeat itself or will they make it through it?
These two had chemistry and banter throughout the book and the slow burn between them only made their relationship so much more explosive when they finally got together. These two definitely didn’t disappoint in the spice department, once they gave in, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. I really enjoyed watching their growth throughout the book but also them going from strangers back to friends to lovers. I also really enjoyed June’s relationship with Cash but also her relationship with Alex. Overall, I enjoyed the book, the characters and I can’t wait for the next book.

I would recommend if you like:

4.5 stars - An almost second chance romance with heart!

June returns to her hometown after a betrayal, taking on a nanny role for her childhood crush, Cash, who's striving to balance fame while caring for his daughter and supporting his grieving father.

Despite initial challenges on both sides, June undergoes personal growth, standing up for her aspirations, making me cheer! The undeniable chemistry between June and Cash brings warmth, while Alex, Cash's daughter, blossoms throughout the story.

**Childhood crush
**Second chance
**Single dad
**Small town

This was quite the slow-burn, but so worth it for the family dynamics, making it a heartwarming read.

Thank you so much to Grey's Promotions and Bailey Hart for the ARC of Sunshine Love.

I am currently, deeply and proudly in my cowboy romance era, so when I saw small town single dad romance as the buzz words, I was instantly hooked and knew I needed to read this. Sunshine Love started out giving all the rich people drama to the point that I could swear I could hear that opening scene with the speakers. IYKY... Bailey Hart weaves a sentimental and spicy romance between June and Cash (I see what you did there, and I love it!) I was reeled in from the moment I opened the book and could barely put it down, picking it up every free moment I had. If you, like me, are in your cowboy romance era, this is going to be right up your alley.

I almost didn't finish the book because it was kind of repetitive, there were a lot of spelling and editing errors (especially towards the end), and honestly it was a little too neatly tied together. I was expecting more slow-burn and drama, more chemistry, especially after a decade and a half of being apart and telling themselves that they can't be together because of Alex and June's need for independence.

There was a bit of spice, but the sex scenes felt rushed and, again, repetitive. There was potential for chemistry, but the chapters were so short. I could have done with less inner-thought and reminders of stuff we already knew, and more action.

I also wasn't a big fan of Cash's aggressive attitude towards any man that came within June's vicinity. There's jealous and protective, and then there's possessive. Not everything needs to be solved with a fight.

However, it wasn't the worst book, and I really needed a lighter read after some of the books I've been reading, so it was enjoyable enough.

Jude has jut left her relationship of 15 years after finding out she’s been cheated on at her engagement party and swears she’ll never love again gets in her car and goes home.
Cash a former county single dad who swore love was something he’d never feel again.

Jude goes back to her home town in hope to find a job, save and follow her dreams of becoming a teacher.
When she bumps into cash, her childhood best friend and the one who got away and he offers her a job to be his daughter’s full time nanny how can she refuse?

Can 2 people who swore to never love again really find why they need in each other.

This to me is such a cute small town romance and I loved this book. I recommend this book!

Cash was a country music star but he's sworn off music and is a single dad raising his 11 year old daughter. June was his best friend but she moved away a long time ago and they stopped talking. But now she's back in town and he hires her to be his live-in nanny for the summer.

It was a fast paced, sweet small town romance. This is Bailey's debut novel and she did a great job! Great storytelling. I personally didn't feel the chemistry between Cash & June so I gave it 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4 stars.

Tropes:
Forced proximity
Second chance
Childhood friends to lovers

This wasn’t for me unfortunately…

Imo the book was mostly smut-driven, and atm I’m not at all in for smut

I didn’t connect to the characters, didn’t like them that much either. Alex was cute at times but mostly I was annoyed bc she acted pretty childish for a 11 year old

It felt very cliché at times too

The only thing I did like was that it was fast paced and didn’t take that long to read

I’m sorry I didn’t like it but I hope you will/have enjoyed it more than I did

This wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t anything special. There wasn’t enough background to get into the characters, especially as there should have been with a second chance childhood best friends single dad romance like this one. It had the bones to be great but just fell short. It lacked depth and just went way too fast unfortunately.

Cash and June 🥹👏🏻 Bailey reached out and asked if I could read this book. I’m SO thankful she did. This book was such a great and easy read! I highly recommend adding this one to your TBR. I need to read the next one ASAP (can’t wait till it comes out)! I’m so unwell after finishing that. Like obsessed would be an understatement… The love these two had for each other and the love Alex was given in return. A single dad is just 😮‍💨 5 ⭐️ and 3 🌶️

This As recommended to me as a very similar book to Heartless by Elsie Silver, if the same was said to you DON’T BELIEVE THEM. This has nothing to do with Heartless the only similar thing is the nanny aspect. However June is nothing like my girl Willa ! Anyway i didn’t enjoy the story npr the romance that much

Sweet story with a second chance at your first love! Both characters were amazing, June being a ball of sunshine and Cash being a grump with protectiveness as a love language! He is such a dedicated father and does anything to protect he's daughter, Alex, from hurting the way he did.

Loved this book and can't wait for the next one!
